Cearuil gave Vin a harsh look, that faltered some when he tisked in annoyance. The fish was right, but that didn't make things anymore aggravating. He rose to leave not even noticing Maria had left with her father. He went past a few men in the halls but was stopped by a court lady or two who tried to appear concerned for his well being. He offered them all indifferent looks before he came to a stop in the stair well that lead up to the next floor in a tower like fashion. The spiraled stairs served for a seat at the moment, at least for a Meru who was feeling terribly dry and with a head ache. He would have to calm down, he knew that, but seeing that Siren only reminded him of things he really didn't care to. He knew she would be back to pleas her case soon, he just hoped the courts did the right thing and ordered the crazy bitch to be executed like her father. ~~~ Seraphina knew Niamh was goading an answer from her by that innocent look and that pretty little batter of her eyes. The girl was a nuisance, but with little Hercine there she could only be as clear as she could be cold to a guest. Anthony believed everything that came out of the brat's mouth and the last thing she needed was her image stained because she couldn't handle a toy the prince decided to tease her with. And tease her he did...Not even willing to look her way for longer than seconds, his attention on this little whore instead. Honestly, did Daire really think this girl had any sort of clue what she was getting herself into? The palace, the rumors, the Queen's threats, the servants giving you dirty looks and the feeling like you were all alone to it because you could do nothing to prevent it. You were a shadow on the wall, a black spot in the royalty's perfect reputation that was left behind closed doors. He could never acknowledge her as anything more than just that, a stranger even at dinners and functions, but a lover when you were only alone, whenever that rarely happened. Seraphina wasn't strong enough to survive that game her first round but over time it grew easier the moment she learned how to work the system correctly, a little twist here and there to get the prince to her liking and make him see things her way. However, Daire blind sided her...leaving her with only one option. She lied to him to protect her station by his side...though he proved to be colder than she had first expected. She ended up banished from the palace and her hand sold to the Knight family. Which was why they did not attend the events set forth in the palace, especially the one on the night of the king's death. Her eyes hardened briefly, the first sign of a real emotion, but it was somewhat lost in her nonchalant expression. "I know how he cares to spend on people he's close to. Really the man is too generous--almost to the point of spoiling those who serve a purpose. As I am sure you do in all these endeavors he spoke of." She said though her eyes did not return to Niamh. "You must know very little of him, if you thought it wasn't that obvious..." Hercine swallowed hard at Seraphina's words, knowing this was where things got testy. She quickly took up the opportunity to talk to Niamh, since she wanted to back pedal out of this conversation very quickly, since she was one of the few that had strong assumptions on what went on those summers of study and when Seraphina's family would stay in the palace. Her father was an advisor for the king for many years, leaving her instant access to both princes, though she always favored Daire. Hercine simply got along with Cearuil, only because the two were children under a similar banner. They hated social functions, liked company but hated dull conversation, and would rather spend their time having a bit of fun rather than pretending to be good little ladies and lords. "Well we can both agree its a generous gift. But Niamh I must take you dress shopping with me for a change. Men can be rather boring in that type of situation." She said and Seraphina knew what she was getting at but she kept her head held high and her eyes actually on something far off as she tried to reign in her pain and anger from a time best left hidden.

Maria went out into the main yard and glared at a fighting dummy, She was angry. She looked at it and pretended she was gutting the stupid siren and beating its corpse into an unidentifiable pulp. IT brought a light smile to her however that was very short lived when she heard foot steps behind her, turning she saw Charlotte, who looked a bit uncomfortable. "Oh what does the poodle want now?" maria asked in a snaky tone to her wondering what the hell she wanted."You don't think they will let her have the thrown do you?" Her voice sounded a bit worried but she still kept her distance from Maria. her eyes looked her face over as she decided she was being genuine in her words," I hope not or we will be at war again." Charlotte frowned and took a step forward,"I wanted to apologize about last night. I over stepped and I shouldn't have I just wanted to snoop I guess. I have a bad habit of it at home." She said making a show of trying to apologize to her. maria scoffed," I doubt you are sorry, however I thank you for you attempt. People like us,. strong willed women only ever do such things when it will get us farther in life- that will get you no where with me however- I know this game." She frowned," I'm playing a game I'm apologizing to you." She said a bit angry toned however stayed where she was. Maria smiled at her," I have a feeling you are trying to play me- you cna't blame me from the impressions you have left me other wise. I would rather deal with your brother then you. He is quiet and respects what I have to say about things unlike you." She said making a point. "Just because my brother is weak means nothing, he is a good meru. I don't wan to see him totality abused by you." she said in a huffy tone now as she crossed her arms. "By me? Oh no- he was only abused from you and your mother for so long. I don't think I can do any worse." She said as she swam past her and back into the buildings ignoring her angry look. She honestly didn't care for Charlotte, not one bit.

Niamh found Seraphina’s words to be somewhat true and she didn’t reply upon the woman’s poorly hidden attack to say that Niamh must not have known Daire very well. Niamh couldn’t deny the fact that she didn’t know everything there was to know about the man. She knew what he had told him and the little things she had gathered through observation. She had guesses on the little things such as his favorite color, but they didn’t often talk about themselves, unless of course she counted the fact that he knew a chunk of her history that not many knew. She considered them friends and that was all, though a part of her wished she could know more about him. Her train of thought led her to realize that it was harder being so composed and putting on a show when it became personal. She never really had an issue pretending before, but now, she could understand why some had such a hard time with it. Still, she wasn’t going to spew out her inner emotions over one sentence that made her think. Hercine’s offer brought Niamh out of her downward spiral and she smiled happily, noticing the distant look in Seraphina’s eyes. “That would be lovely! We should definitely plan on doing that some time.” Niamh replied. Her eyes caught sight of a pretty blue flower and she swam over to that, admiring it. “What do you think the men are speaking about?” She questioned out loud for anyone to answer, feeling like it would be best for her to start the conversation instead of Seraphina.

Cearuil blinked at the light when the door opened and in looked his grandmother. "I thought I would find you here." She said, before Cearuil gave her a frown. "Oh really? I thought this would be the only place I could find quiet..." He said and the old woman gave a scoff. "Certainly not. You're a prince." She reminded him and Cearuil felt he didn't need that. He got to his feet at her motion and the old woman took his arm as they walked to the lower floor. "Would you like to explain why you were moping on the steps like a common urchin?" She asked and Cearuil gave her a bit of a glare. "I wasn't moping. I was keeping myself 'calm' as Vin suggested." He sneered before turning his attention back to the hall ahead of him, not angry with his grandmother but with the situation. "How dare that filth think she could come into my kingdom, demanding anything." He hissed and his grandmother noticed so much of his mother in him. She patted his arm and gave him a rather tight smile. "Cear you are too violent with your emotions...but I agree something must be done about the Sirens. But that is for another day, dear. For now let's have a nice walk so I may visit with you. I have not seen you since you were young, before the war made you mean." She chided lightly, drawing a smirk out of Cearuil. ~~~ "This is a lovely home you have." Daire said, eyeing yet another amazing little artifact Anthony had collected from his trips further west into the Pacific. It was a mask, almost tribal in nature with corals and gems adorning its face. It was obviously valuable, but Daire was interested by the way the light caught one of the blue stones. Anthony noticed his interest and gave a bit of a smirk. "Yes well, my wife enjoys these trinkets and things. She says they are interesting and good conversation starters." He gave an almost flippant eye roll, since he really didn't care for material things the way the others did. Really honestly, he just enjoyed people and company. He liked to entertain, but when it came to boring galas and functions with the palace, he was bored out of his mind. Daire let his look ease at mention of Seraphina especially because he thought of Niamh briefly. He hadn't meant to ignore her, or make her feel awkward or unwelcome. He just...knew he couldn't have her. Not the way he did Seraphina at one point. It lead to too many problems, too many broken hearts and a lot of uneeded stress on both. All because he cared for someone, but in the court's eyes his care was supposed to be reserved for those that he could do something about. He couldn't ever offer Niamh more then a place to stay, a warm meal and affection and how long would that last before she tired of that and want more? He didn't like himself when he was with Serphina. He loved her so blindly he couldn't even tell that she was using him until it was just too late. A simple gift of a necklace turned into dresses and jewelry. Politics became secondary and he actually found himself dissenting the people she preferred to hate. She awakened that primal mermidian sense of fascination in possession, that cold sort of satisfaction any Meru still felt when the had power over another in wealth. They liked things that glittered and it was only right, as Seraphina put it, that a prince should "indulge". It was however, very wrong what he did and he regretted realizing it too late. People were scared, his brother was at war, his mother had fallen ill, and his father was trying to keep the peace. When it finally came out that in the midst of this, Daire had been sleeping with his advisors daughter...Daire had never seen his father look so ashamed of him before... He felt the pang of a love drunk distant memory and quickly shoved it into the back of his mind. "Yes, she always did like glamour of it all..." He said, a small smile coloring his lips though his eyes read a somewhat sadness. "I agree. Anyways, I meant to speak to you on a certain matter that seems to have come up, now that both you and your brother are vying for the throne." Anthony said, getting up and going to a window that looked over a bit of the estate. "I wish to offer you my assistance should you need more pull in the courts my prince. I may not get out much, but the friendships I have in the cliff district alone will do you immense good in the future." Daire blinked, not having expected to receive aid, if not a sign of loyalty from the prominent Knight family. It was a good thing though, one that did make him give a grateful look. "Thank you, I'm glad to have allies from good friends." Anthony quirked a brow at him before he shook his head. "Unlike me...I hardly think she just offers hers in good faith..." Daire looked confused though it was edged with a certain hesitance. Anthony noticed the look and a smile crept over his lips. "Forgive my forwardness, Prince Daire, but my wife and I are very honest with one another." Daire tensed and that gave Anthony's smile a bit more shine. "I knew when I accepted her engagement to me what had transpired. I don't care much for gossip but to hear the words from her lips..." He said but gave Daire an almost feign look of surprise. "Imagine how shocked I was when you asked for an audience with me, let alone brought that beautiful woman with you." Daire swallowed hard not liking this at all. He got up as if to leave but Anthony simply bowed. "I apologize...but I just wished to ask something." Daire paused and nodded for Anthony to continue. "Do you still have feelings for my wife?" Daire was shocked at how forward Anthony was being but, he almost commended it. He knew he was in trouble here if he lied and if he told the truth. It must have been upsetting for any husband to hear of this sort of thing. Why would Seraphina ever tell anyone? "No. I apologize if this has caused some upset in your home by my being here--" Daire's apology was cut off by clipped laughter from Anthony. "Oh seven seas no. You act as though I'm jealous." Anthony said around a laugh before he seemed to bat the thought away. "I mean I am surprised at how easily you found another beautiful woman to be by your side. Really she does seem like a kind girl and it seems creation was kind to her...but the life of any man is a mysterious thing." Daire looked shocked, his mouth even slightly open as if he wanted to say something. Anthony took it in stride and continued. "I didn't mean to surprise you, but Seraphina and I are purely political. She needed to be married to save her image and I needed the funds from the Triton family. We care for each other yes and we do get along, but she is free to do as she pleases as am I." He said before giving a shrug. "It's really much better not to complicate things." Daire's eyes flicked to the floor and he sat there a moment, looking stunned but not totally baffled. He heard of political marriages and understood their functions, but he personally didn't agree with not caring for the person you were with. Eventually he would be married to a woman of social standing and grace that in turn he would have to live with and produce an heir. A different kind of love was added to that equation, perhaps not true love but something along the lines of familiar love and at the least affection. He couldn't imagine how Seraphina must have thought this kind of relationship was worth anything... "I suppose that's true." Daire said quietly, only sending Anthony into a rant about the married life, Daire not even realizing he hadn't denied anything said about Niamh. ~~~ Hercine was happy Niamh excepted and that she seemed to catch on to the topic change. THough what Niamh asked made Hercine have to think a moment on whether or not she should tell Niamh. She wasn't totally positive what she was to the prince but she assumed she was something important with the way Daire interacted with her. "My brother is actually offering Prince Daire assistance, should he need it, in the courts. We would all like to see that Prince Daire becomes king, as it was intended by his father, may he rest in peace." Hercine frowned however when Seraphina gave a noise of agreement. "Prince Cearuil is not fit for the throne. He is too violent and abrupt, no social decorum at all. I even hear he's taken a human warlord's daughter as a concubine." She sniffed as if the gossip were appalling, and for much of the women's circle in politics it was. Many were jealous that the only available prince for easy matchmaking was caught up in another girl, but some generally cared for politics and its inner workings. They all knew well that a kingdom under either prince would be very different, but Daire seemed willing to at least preserve the glamour of their little society...

Charlotte glared at the dummy after maria had left accusing her of abusing her brother, yes she did however it was her twin- that's how she showed her love for him, in a way. It was her brother- not maria's do with what she wished- they were engaged however it wasn't finalized and she didn't think her brother liked the arrangement however she didn't mind hers. The boy was strong and even had a nice face, and a smooth voice. He however was just as strong willed but be kept to himself and kept busy, which she liked. However when she did talk to him he always warned her over not crossing Maria since she had gotten to know him a bit and learned about Maria's violent streak. Another reason she came to apologize, She had been told to and he had scolded her- it annoyed her to be scolded by her soon to be husband but she realized she had over stepped. Now that she had done so- it didn't help- Maria was still mad at her and she felt no closer to the result she wanted... ------- Issaic sighed, he watched both Maria and her father leave the room, looking angry however he got up himself after they left to perhaps go speak with his sister of her actions however he looked around and didn't find her either. Apparently he was to be avoided today, however this siren trying to take over her father's place only angered a lot of Meru. He sighed and left the room feeling a bit over whelmed with the mess here and went threw a quiet hall and into what seemed like a small library near the courts chambers. He pulled a book off the shelf to find it was a record, he flipped threw it and it was a family registry, it help every nobles family it seemed including the royal families. He flipped threw it to find his own families and saw his own name. He looked at it for a few minutes until some ones voice made him jump. "You do understand that this room is off limits correct?" Vin stated to him dryly from where he leaned against the door. The water spinning about his middle he stayed wet and comfortable there in the dry room, he however was looking over what the boy was looking threw. "I-I sorry, I didn't know- there wasn't any sign on the door or anything. I was looking for some place quiet." He said hoping Vin understood since he seemed nice, and had been nice so far. "Yes, I can understand that." He said since he was taking a break from the Council since he had a splitting head ache from all the chatter and minor point making and bickering. ------------- Maria sighed, taking a few breaths she decided she was done with court for that morning, she went to her own chambers and laid down for a short bit, her head was hurting from thinking things threw too quickly and shew as frustrated about how she couldn't do anything lately.

“Prince Daire will be pleased to hear that, I am sure.” Niamh told Hercine with a smile. She was glad that Hercine’s family intended to back Daire on his claim to the throne. She supposed the fight for the throne had become a much more public topic of conversation, though in her eyes, the brothers were merely trying to do what they thought was best for the kingdom. Niamh’s attention was drawn away from her thoughts and to Seraphina as she spouted off information about Cearuil and his love interest Maria. Niamh’s brow rose some out the disgust Seraphina showed with the information before smiling gently. “I think it’s sweet how Prince Cearuil treats his lady. I am sure to some; it shows that he has a certain— strength to ignore societal conventions that are outdated or abused.” Niamh wasn’t necessarily speaking fondly of Cearuil. In fact, her tone suggested that she didn’t quite find him appealing, but she could see where he was coming from in a way and why others may back him instead of Daire. Cearuil represented change that many probably thought that Daire wouldn’t bring about. He was seen as strong because of his military prowess and when Daire was compared with Cearuil, he could be portrayed as weak. Niamh didn’t agree with that assessment and she wondered, now having thought about it, what Daire could do to improve his image in the minds of his people.

Cearuil was distracted, that much his grandmother could tell. She watched him from the corner of her eye as they moved to the better part of the castle with a view of the lovely courtyard. She wasn’t sure what had grasped his attention, but she intended to return it. There was still so much more she needed to understand before her daughter stepped in. “So tell me more about this girl.” Cearuil looked at his grandmother with a bit of annoyance, his eyes narrowing ever so slightly. His grandmother knew she was treading on a fine line but she knew how to handle him and his mother and their legendary tempers. “I hear she’s a lovely woman from the outer city ...” His look eased and he gave a bit of a gruff sigh. “Yes, her father is a prominent human. A proud man and a loyal one. He gave her a chance to have a fierce spirit, unlike many of the women that are stifled by their roles.” His grandmother gave a cluck of a laugh. “Ah so she has spirit is it? I always took you for a man who preferred the silent and stupid type.” Cearuil gave an eye roll but it was a bit true. The dumber the woman the easier they were to please and deal with. But ease was won out by substance, something Maria hardly lacked. He could actually talk to her and have intelligent conversation. They saw eye to eye on some things and the ones they didn’t, well she at least supported his views. She was proud and could hold her own, despite her pretty face. She was— “Cear, dear? You seem a bit lost...” He blinked and realized he had been zoning out. He gave his head a shake before his eyes went to the courtyard and he spotted a familiar face. He tensed slightly, seeing Charlotte in front a battered looking dummy. It was an odd sight he hadn’t expected to find. “Excuse me Grandmother...” He left her, opting to just swim out the window and down to Charlotte. He gave the dummy a squint and saw that it looked like it was just mercilessly beaten not in sport but in anger. “I didn’t take you for a fighter, Lady Charlotte.” He said, not opting for the more formal greeting as decorum called for, especially when they both knew she broke a very large taboo last night in breaking into another’s room. ~~~ Hercine knew what Seraphina was getting at and didn’t like it. She had no feelings for Daire beyond friendship, an odd alliance they founded out of their own personalities. She wouldn’t let him be bashed belligerently by her wicked sister in law, even if Hercine would side with Daire on the issue of the throne. Niamh’s answer however, mirrored Hercine’s thinking in a way so she kept her mouth shut. But Seraphina of course would not take to that opinion easily. “How naïve...” Seraphina said before motioning to the open ocean. “The idea of strength from ignoring age old rules is a romantic one at best. Silly really.” She said with a wave of her hand as if to bat away such an idea. Only the truly lucky and empowered could excel in their world, which was why people like this girl stayed at the bottom. “Mistress,” A younger Meru servant called out to them as she swam over, looking almost out of breath, “there has been a letter left for you.” She near panted only getting a rather heated look from Seraphina. “I am busy. Leave.” She said in a slipped order but the girl simply bowed. “It is a letter from you father.” Seraphina tensed, her shoulders knotting at the news. Her father hadn’t spoken to her since the marriage to Anthony. What could he want with her now? “Then I should attend to it immediately.” She snipped before looking to the girls she was with, her smile sweet and polite, almost like a doll, fake and well worn. “Enjoy yourselves. I won’t be long dears...” She said before swimming off with her servant. Hercine blew out a breath when Seraphina left, her eyes narrowing at the doors. “She was tamer than usual, spoiled shrew...” She muttered, before shaking her head in almost disgust at how her brother could marry such a heartless witch.

Charolette jumped when she heard her name and saw Cearuil of all people there in the court yard with her. "No, not many do because I am not, I'm a court flower- I have a sharp tongue but no skill- This mangled-thing, is Maria's mess." She stated making it clear she didn't like weapons and was more comfortable in a court then where she currently was. "If your looking for her she isn't here she just left." She said with a slight pout on her face as she crossed her arms and looked off at the ground as she was sure he really didn't want to speak with her.

Niamh’s brow quirked at the words that came from Seraphina. The woman had an interesting view of the world; that was for sure. It made her wonder if that was how many others with Seraphina’s stature thought. It was a rather sad view really. She was going to artfully express that opinion but they were interrupted by a servant who had gotten there as quick as possible judging by the panting and the message that was brought. Seraphina, much to Niamh’s dislike, treated the servant girl with much anger, however, Niamh became quite curious as to the relationship between Seraphina and her father that would cause that much tension in the female. Niamh stifled a smirk and nodded her head respectfully as Seraphina took her leave, though it seemed it would only be a temporary one. Her attention turned to Hercine when Seraphina had gone, the female throwing names and Niamh smiling. She chuckled rather loudly and moved to be closer to Hercine. “If this is tame then I fear I have no idea how your brother would put up with her.” She said and covered her mouth as she giggled slightly. “The “spoiled shrew,” as you so elegantly phrased, was actually a tad bit fun to toy with.” She sighed and sobered up some, her humor only temporary.

Cearuil was surprised by the frosty answer but he didn't get mean instantly as he usually would have, after all she seemed pissed not at him but someone else. Perhaps Maria--more like it was surely Maria since the remnants of that dummy showed Maria's mood was dark at the moment. "I suppose that's true." He said before he gave her a raise of his brow. "But court flowers aren't known for being able to pick locks to other ladies rooms. Care to explain?" He asked sine that had been on his mind for a good amount of time that day. What was Charlotte looking to do in Maria's room that night? ~~~ Hercine noticed Niamh's humor, though none showed on Hercine's face. She couldn't help that the subject of her brother and Seraphina gave her harsh feelings towards both of them. "He uses her family name and she uses him to patch up all the damage she did to her own reputation...They are together only to satisfy the others needs and that is all, how it is in most arranged marriages." She said before giving a small shrug, something that wasn't lady like but she didn't care really. Niamh was that person she felt comfortable enough, else she probably wouldn't have said all she had. "I spent the summers with Seraphina since we all knew she was betrothed to my brother. My parents wanted us to get along...It never worked out that way." She fidgeted with her dress and it seemed she skipped over something. She was trying to avoid the topic of what she stumbled upon between Daire and Seraphina when they were teenagers. Seraphina still didn't know she knew and she intended to keep it that way. "It was shortly after Seraphina's family was relocated from the palace when my parents passed away...My brother dropped everything to take care of me...It gave her more of a reason to hate me I guess. The minute I was out of the house, she sold my mother's dresses and changed my father's library into that gaudy green parlor room...now it seems she's changing mother's garden too..." She looked around her at all the statues and bright colors, giving her head a small shake. "I hope you and Daire get to talk to my brother about what it is you wanted to talk about...what is it you wanted to ask him anyways?" She asked, obviously evading the subject.

Charlotte looked over at him when asked about picking locks and that she needed to explain. With a passive sigh she looked away slightly annoyed as it showed in her face. "I wanted to get something to make her stop being so damned High in the tide. She is always on edge but it seemed that she thinks that because you are around and have been wrapped about her finger- she is completely safe here. I wanted to do something to make her see that she wasn't safe. That you couldn't protect her from everything- however I never expected you to be in the room with her so late...Much less have her awake still. I went threw the trouble of having her drinks spiked- I assumed she would be out by then. I learned to pick locks from my father- its a merchants skill-to look for fake or stolen things. I was only using it to make Issaic's life a little easier because she is too hard on him. " She said as she had rambled on to him what had exactly happened from her side of the fence and wondered how he was going to take it.

Niamh listened to everything that Hercine was saying. She had a sympathetic expression on her features as the poor girl spoke. It must have been rough to be involved in such a situation. She also felt for Hercine’s brother. Niamh was one that didn’t like the idea of marrying for politics. Of course it happened and she understood the reason, but what about love. Niamh did fancy herself a closet romantic though. She looked around the garden as Hercine brought up her mother and she frowned. The garden still looked nice, though she could see the bones of something different underneath. Hercine was not only loosing material items that belonged to her mother, but also memories. It must have been rough. She gently touched her on the shoulder and gave her a smile, but the topic changed quickly. Niamh blinked, a bit taken aback by the sudden topic change but she smiled quickly and began to spout off the premise for why Daire was there. “The Prince wanted to see if your brother would back him in taking his rightful place on the thrown. Times have been—“ She paused, a small part of her not enjoying the idea of lying to Hercine in such a way. She really liked this girl and lying to her did not make the start of a good friendship, however, she couldn’t just spout off private information that Daire had entrusted her with. She nibbled on her lower lip in a nervous habit and sighed, though it sounded almost like a squeak. The pause grew longer and she shook her head, showing frustration. She let out a pent up breath. “That’s actually not the real reason that we’re here.” She shook her head, mad as different morals in her were fighting. “I can’t tell you right now, but I promise that I will.” She understood that her lady like demeanor was being thrown out the window and that if Seraphina came back right now, she would have a hay day. Niamh didn’t care though. She wanted a friend that actually trusted her, or at least might be able to trust her in the future. Niamh thought herself a good judge of character and she really thought Hercine was a good person. It was one of the reasons she was telling the girl this much. “It’s something that I can’t tell just anyone, not without Daire’s—I mean the Prince’s—approval. It wouldn’t be right.” She smiled faintly, forcing herself to stop biting her lower lip. “Can you trust me for a little bit?” She questioned, realizing that Hercine must be shocked by her sudden outburst. “I really want to be friends with you and lying just doesn’t seem right.”

Cearuil kept his composure, listening to Charlotte speak. He couldn't stand the woman, but wouldn't break the simple social decorum of listening to the answer he asked for. So she thought herself the one to bring Maria down a peg? When Charlotte herself was no more the spoiled woman with no more gain than who she could be bred with. Her brother she seemed so keen to care for was the one that held the money and holdings of the family, regardless of his personality. Maria had more over Charlotte than she seemed to rightly fathom. It was humorous and annoying. "So you have some form of honesty at least, though I think you forget who you are speaking to. See you are wrong, Lady Charlotte. You are here due to your family's wealth. Lady Maria is here because she can be trusted." He said, tone serious and all sign of joking or sarcasm aside. He was not going to leave without being sure Charlotte understood something very clearly. "I am not a fool to think the queen didn't approve your stay within the palace because of the engagement between your brother and her. But I do not bear the same welcome." He was sure no one was around so he decided to finish on his true note. "Try to harm her again and you will find that not money or your father's influence will prevent both you and poor Isaac with very hard lives. Understand?" Unlike Daire or his father, Cearuil did not find power in investors and viewed this slight as a memory point for cutting ties with charlotte's family the moment he had the power to do so. He was not above taking their business from the Atlantic and situating them as outsiders within their own political standing. Take the money, or head in this case, from the snake and you have very little to fight with. If she chose to continue this battle of Willa with Maria, he would make things that much harder for her living and moving wise within his home. ~~~~ Hercine stood tall looking at Niamh with an expression that gave away her unease. She was waiting to see what Niamh told her, to be sure this woman had good intentions and not something that would wind up hurting people she cared about. Her brother was all she had left and already he was being manipulated by Seraphina. If Niamh and Daire were out to manipulate her brother as well then she would put a stop to it. Hercine's hands folded in front of her as Niamh began her spiel about seeking help from her family for Daire to take the throne. So there really was some sort of gain they could find from her family. So was Niamh here being kind to her for this goal? Was she no better than Seraphina? She tensed however when Niamh suddenly corrected herself. Shock was evident on Hercine's face especially since she had been anticipating to detach herself from the situation. However, her words kept her grounded. She didn't necessarily trust where this was going, but she was somewhat relieved that Niamh was being honest with her. What was this real reason and why was Niamh keeping it from her? She blinked when Niamh said it would be wrong to tell her due to Daire. So this was down thing Daire asked her not to tell? She swallowed hard, wondering if this was something dangerous or that had to do with her family's safety. But it didn't seem Niamh intended harm, else why would she tell her these things? When Niamh began to ask for her trust, well that was when Hercine's expression sobered. To trust someone on thought alone was a scary thing. Her impression of Niamh was that she was a kind soul...one of valor if not too much heart. She was a mystery to Hercine, but a kinder one than Serphina had been. She gave her no reason to wish her ill and didn't seem to threaten her or her brother. Daire was not a terrible man and would not associate with Niamh if she was out for nefarious things... She sighed before nodding, a small ease gracing her expression. "Alright...I am happy you trust me enough to be honest...I admire that greatly, Niamh." Hercine said before giving Niamh a quick side hug. It wasn't by any means touchy feely but it was a sign that she did appreciate her honesty. When she pulled away, there was an brightness in her look that wasn't there before. "Come let me show you the better parts of the home. My father used to collect artifacts from the Gulf when I was younger and he had them stored in a room not too far into the home." She said, willing to be more open with Niamh since she was more open with her. ~~~~ "So you simply paid me a visit for promise of support?" Daire gave a nod, his smile somewhat on the more diplomatic side though it held tinges of an ease that proved much more friendly than he felt with Hercine's brother. The man was a bit more loud than quiet Hercine and he had a lacking filter when he spoke of things that frankly he shouldn't have with a prince. But such was the life of the secluded wealthy... Anthony looked curious a moment before he gave a smirk that told of ease Daire expected from the man. "Well you have my support. After all your guest and my sister seem well acquainted and you seem to be a capable man enough for our throne, as long as you understand my family is to be noted for their support..." He said, making it clear he would expect something in return. Daire expected as much and wouldn't mind helping out the Knight family if they needed it. But it was the idea of allowing Seraphina that luxury that worried him. Speaking of the devil, Seraphina swam in, her pink tail flicking anxiously as if she was not willing to wait for the men to be finished and for her to be addressed. Worry was present in her features and Anthony seemed to react to it, his brow raising. "What is it Serah?" Seraphina gave a bit of a pout, a sniffle bubbling from her. "Seems my father is gravely ill...we must be ready to travel to see him..." Anthony went to Seraphina, giving her a hug but she seemed to evade the close contact for too long, opting to put her hands on his chest. It created distance between them that made Daire curious but force himself not to stare at her long. "Would you mind sending a correspondence to my mother? I can't rightly think to write my dear." Seraphina crooned, looking weak and almost like she might faint into tears. It struck a nerve with Daire, making him want to reach out to her. But he couldn't, it wasn't his place and it wasn't right. Anthony cupped her face, saying something softly to her before he left, leaving Daire and Seraphina alone. They stood in relative silence, that was till Daire decided to look up at her and speak his new found words. "I am so sorry Seraphina. It must be hard on you to--" he wasn't able to finish before Seraphina went to him, burying her face into his chest in a hug. He was shocked and for a moment thought of pushing her away but for some reason he couldn't get his hands to move or to make the effort to pull away from her.

She listened to his words as well as his threats and she couldn't help but smile. "If anyone should be punished for my actions it should be myself Prince Cearuil. My brother already wants little to do with my as he seems me in a negative light already. He is trying to appeal to Maria's better nature with this. I can only assume your not happy about this- however I don't wish to this for you. I will however watch what I do from now on." She said as she bowed and left him, not really bothering with much else.
