He looked releaved when she said he ahdn't offended her. " Deneruim?- thats a mouthful to say- the food is good there? What about the Lyrium trade? or is that illegal here? I never remembered...I only studied certain things after all..."He watched her stretch and figured she was small for a Qun but big for an elf compared ot a human. This mind was wondering just what the culture was like if she was made to exist- how it happened- not that it was bad jsut curious. ~~~ She heard new foot falls not too far behind her which was accompanied by a nice voice she had decided. Not turning around however she continuted to look over a Bow, the man selling it was telling her it was from Tevinter. She doubted it highly as they didn't export weapons since they were still technically at war with the Qunari. Had been for baout 8 years now. "I think you lie like a fereldan wet dog that you smell like. I'm from Tevinter- this is a Tevinter Imperium bow." She sadi drawing hers and showing the man who's face was pale white. She shealthed hers and walked away, she however caught a glance of the templar behind her. "So I am to just assume you are the man who they coudn't talk into traveling with me to look for the magester?" She spoke as hse walked up to the soaps stand adn smelled them and savored one that was a heavy honey sent- deep adn sweet smelling. she liked it- it reminded her of the Magester's gardens- the sweet flowers in the north in the summer were sweet smelling. She was skeptical however she was expecting it to be him but wanted to see if he would play her game first.

Maraas blinked when he spoke with too much strung together, too many points at once. She had to slow it down and pick it all apart before she could answer the separate things. "Yes the food is good. And why Lyrium? It is not good...very bad for anyone but dwarves." She told him with a bit of a worried look since she had seen the affects of a Lyrium derivative in the Tamassrins rituals for cleansing the minds of disruptive conquered populace. ~~~ Caden saw her speak to the merchant and had to contain his slight unease at her blunt way of speaking. For a woman she didn't seemed to hold back. When she turned a question on him he gave a half frown. "I guess that's how it appeared yeah. The commander said you would be the one to talk to since your friend up the tower seems to have a bit of a complex." His said since he had been instantly shut down by the short mage and told to go speak with this woman. He didn't know exactly how to word what he was going to say since this whole thing was a bit muddled and half way explained. They still didn't even know if this mage was alive or who he was affiliated with. For all they knew he could be an abomination or even a blood mage as it was said some Tevinter mages were openly. "I'm considering it because I got a look at the descriptions of everything and something doesn't seem right. That and the commander seems hell bent on putting me back to work quickly." He said since he knew she didn't care about his problems and he was there for business sake. They needed someone to accompany them since the chantry felt uncomfortable allowing Tevinter citizens hunt for a mage that could be a danger on their soil. "So I guess I should be asking who you are, seeing as I only understood from the mage that you are hired help from this Magester's family?"

At his words about being hired help she scoffed and turned around to face him. " If I were hired help- I woudn't really care. I am of the family Merseth of the Tevinter Imperium. I am the leading guard there and am in charge of the safe retuern of Magester. I'm assuming they gave you that letter that dim witted mage wrote. The detail ential, bloodly prints sighns of a struggle however things are missing and hte most valued htings are still there- so no robbery- not an assassination and not a kidnapping. I belive anyhow he either got cold feet or he was actually kidnapped by some one who lured him off in a way- perhaps using magic to do so becuase I know the boy dosen't use blood magic..." She stated as she looked him square in the face. She was tehnically close to the Fenris however he never concidered her more then staff- since they were paid to do a job not be your friend. ---------------- Fenris nodded at her words about each thing like he was speaking to jumbled for her. "Yes well thank you. I will try to remember that they don't do here in Fereldan. Its a big change from where I was at." He said with a slight frown that not everything ehre was as open as in Tevinter. There he could openly talk baout lyruim trade and such however here it was illegal it seemed and dangerous.

At the woman's words Caden sat back and let her speak. She had sense, more than the mage, and spoke with a pride and confidence that was obvious. She was serious about finding this man and obviously wasn't dumb enough like the others to assume that he was just dead or robbed...But the comment about cold feet was interesting. "Good, he isn't a blood mage. He has a better chance of survival if this is just cold feet. However I do have to ask if he was involved with anything, other than blood magic, that might be of concern. While the circle Templars are bad and rather impatient with apostates...some self righteous soldiers or bandits on our roads here might not be as understanding if he's found with the wrong people with his magic." He asked, being serious with her on the fact that he was wondering if perhaps the man was escaping something because of bad affiliations or left because of being involved in something illegal that required him to leave home. He wasn't about to help find a criminal after all... ~~~ Maraas frowned when he didn't answer her question about why he wasnted to know about Lyrium. She however guessed that must have meant he didn't want to talk about it. She gave a small sigh, since she was so use to everyone back home being so open. Everywhere else people seemed to keep so much to themselves. "It's not that bad. Just do not ask the wrong people." She said and gave him a pat on the shoulder. "Would you like to ask more? I will try to answer as best as I can. I've been here for 4 years, I know a little..." She said trying to be helpful.

"No- he is a good boy- his sister on the other hand. She is filthy- practicing in her brothers place as if he asked her to-the Mageister woudn't ever do such a thing- boy thinks killing is a sin against the Maker...Not that he cares for the maker-hes a bloody mage after all from Tevinter- all coddled and such...he had been acting strange the last few days hew as there however. It was odd to see him alone and with out others about..." She said trying to explain the Mageister's character to him better so he would actually be ready to help. Her Fenris was a good boy- always had been. He could protect himself however which made her assume that kidnapping wasn't an option. ~~~ He looked at Maraas and smiled lightly,"ALright- whats with all the rocks- tis like there is little florage except for trees here...why no grass and plants? Where I'm from there are huge gardens and the like- little rocks except for the quaries..." He asked about the terrain since it was rhater differetn then what he had been expecting after all. He grew up in Tevinter- a place of vast gardens and beatiful sights- and mages, blood and other terrible classifications. But the good came with its evil he figured- another reason he left it all behind- hopefully it all stayed there.

Caden blinked at her description, not expecting her to be so fond of this missing man. The classification of a good boy made him almost...well he felt a bit unsure. EVryone thought the people closest to them were good people, even when they showed you their darker sides. His lip twitched at the thought of his sister, her face twisted in anger as she actually used blood magic infront of him. He knew she was possessed but no Abomination just magically learned blood magic...she had to have been studying it for a long while to be that powerful.... He stood a bit straighter and nodded a bit to himself. "Then maybe that's somewhere to start... I guess we shouldn't waste much more time. Good people are the first to die here." He said, knowing the reality was sick but a coddled high born would have very little chance of survival out there alone. ~~~ Maraas sat patiently, waiting for his question but blinked when it was about rocks. She had to recite the words again in her head and from what she understood he wasn't asking about the rocks specifically but why they were there. In fact why there were so many. Apparently in his home he had a lot of greenery and flowers. She could see that coming here would be a very stark contrast. "There are mountains here. Lots of them. Also I think there is too much heat here. Down south there is more green but it is mostly wild lands...." She said before she looked curiously at him. "This place you are from sounds pretty." She told him as a sort of compliment. "Next question."

Luka looked at Cadan and smiled honestly smiled for the poor guy, her pitied amges she was starting to think- she didn't know why but thats the impression she got. " He can take good care of himself. His father made damn sure of that. I left out a few detail of him... However I don't wish to discuss them in public. For his saftey, I'm sure you understand. Come. I have horses- you can have the mages horse- I don't want the useless stuffy coming with us." She smiled at her less serious words a thte end of her statements about the Mage. She didn't care for him as he thoguht himself over her jsut becasue he had a curse of magic- she however was blessed with strength and guile. She lead the man out to the stables and expected him to be ready then. "Are you ready now? Or do I have to wait about?" She asked in a simple manner asking him then if he was prepared. ~~~ He nodded at her answer about teh landscape his smile stayed as he asked the next few questions," Have you ever seen a Mabari hound? Are they really the size of a small cow? I heard they were fearsome battle dogs with a great intellegance... I'm curious to see one here on our travels." He had been talking with his hands when he spoke however he sat eagerly to hear answers.

Caden looked a bit suspicious about her description, saying she left out a few things. He did understand, but it still wasn't a reassuring thought that she was keeping something major from him. He didn't expect her to be that quick on wanting to leave however and he had to give her a bit of a smile. "I suppose I am. But am I to understand this means you approve that I'm to travel with you? My commander after all didn't say much on that aspect." He said since he was unsure how she thought about all this. After all she was leaving behind her mage for him apparently. ~~~ Maraas brightened at his next question though she didn't understand why he was moving his hands while he talked. It was an odd custom she wasn't sure how it worked. The Mabari hound idea was much more interesting and she was excited to answer this one. "They are big. and are like soldiers. They fight more fierce than men. Very smart too. I fought one in the Wilds near Ostagar. Bandit had trained one to injure guards of carts passing through. The dog fought hard but was meant to die." She said feeling a bit bad for the animal but knew it would have killed her otherwise. "Hope that you are on the good end of your observing." She said with a small smirk.

She glanced back at him and smirked,"You can protect yourself and you have a good head on your shoulders. I have no problems traveling with some one compitent for once. Its actually a rahter nice change then the stuffy mages I'm accustomed to." She said with a smooth smile that actually marked her as a pretty girl when shew ans't giving people the death glare of threatening them with harsh words and mannerisms. She mounted up and they rode out of the city- she wanted to think about where they possibly could be right now but she was wanting to explain things to the Templar first. Once she made sure the road was clear and the it was quiet, she slowed her pace andn looked at him from her horse. "The boy, his name is Fenris Gideon Merseth, he is young, about my age perhaps-pale, elven by decent. Brooding behavior of the late makes him seem the serious type but hes not- hes a large child...He had special makrings on his body- head to toe practically of a brand-Lyrium was burned into his skin to make sure he didn't have to use blood magic he could resort his his markings to give him power as his father saw it fitting for his new son the Mageister to be. His father is dead now- his mother as well- its down to him and his sister- the eldest- our target- is to be a new Mageister in the Imperiums courts circle of Magi. They are two short at the moment adn its showing and the Qunari are taking well advantage of that in Seheron...Any information I left out just ask- but if anyone other then me asks- keep your trap shut." She said this all almost fondly like telling a history of her own family but it wasn't, it was just the family she served, it was odd how attached one could become to some one they had been around sinnce their first few days of life to serveing under them but still being so distant from them. It was obvious that she cared for hte elf but she had to be rather proffesional about it, he was like her brother- however she doubted he ever saw her as more then just a servent meant to protect. ~~~ He listened to her answer intently and smiled," I do hope so as wel- I don't wnat to hurt the poor things., I like animals- now if only they would like me in return." He joked with a small laugh as he rememebred his cat he used tohave and it liked every one but him. It would pur and rub up on others for attention but as soona s he came near it it would hiss and scratch and bite at him. He didn't care for that cat anymore once it attacked him a few times. "Maraas, can I ask about you? I don't want to be rude ans ask what I shouldn't ask however." He asked politly however he was understandable enough that most Qunari didn't tell about them selves but their rolls e didn't care for that but for hte specific Qunari in front of him- she was very different then what he had ever read in book some illistrations and the like- he was facinated by her.

Caden found her compliments a surprise but he accepted it for what it was. She was an honest woman that seemed to speak her mind to the fullest. He saw nothing wrong in and of that. He was just confused how someone with more than decent looks wasn't already married or settled somewhere. He didnt know how things in Tevinter worked, but she was obviously pretty no matter what side of the spectrum or country you were looking at her from. But looks could be deceiving... Her description of the boy however opened up a few more doors in this case for him. Seems he was a typical raised highborn. One with Lyrium marks in his skin for magic. Caden actually winced at the idea. "Damn, that's determination...tell me how the magester selection works over there. Is it just a family title and you get the job or is it voted...?" He knew little of Tevinter and didn't have the luxury of assumption here when looking for someone that was obviously in a situation he wasn't sure he could handle... ~~~ Maraas nodded at his talk of liking animals. She thought most fluffy things cute and adored strong with pride like the Mabari, but sometimes they were used for such bad reasons when corrupted. They were too loyal to ignore in a fight with their masters and would kill you even if the master had fallen. It was vicious but she was not weak enough to let herself die because she felt bad for something trying to kill her. Maraas blinked at him when he asked if he could ask about her. She wasn't used to such questions unless they meant her skill set and how many fights she had one. She assumed that's where he was going with this so she didnt mind. Even her past was an open book necessarily, give of take the occasional thing from the Tamassrans she couldn't tell. Most Qunari saw outsiders as too ignorant to understand and it was true for most cases since most were judgemental and falsely taught. Fenris on the other hand showed an open mindedness she respected though her trust was easier won than most Qunari due to her rather sheltered upbringing. "I do not mind speaking of myself. I will answer what I can. But may I ask questions too about you? I will not make you answer. I understand pasts can be difficult to tell." She said, not wanting to push him for information he wasn't ready to give.

Luka looked at him with his questions on how the mageisters were selected. " well, it dosne take a mastermind, one must be a mage and in a powerful family, having wealth and aarge magical appritude. Then an innitiation and boom- mageister- there to rule over man forthe betterment of man." He said with a smirk feeling it was a load of shit. They were braking the laws of Thedas but she was in no place to speak of things as they were there. " you know what I think? They stick to he competitive stuffy mages who all have pissing contests in the circle halls to see whos power is stronger with out becoming an abomination first... The tevinter circle is a nasty place to be templar- i envy your position here away from such openly corrupt wind bags..." She said glancing t him noticing he looked a bit more puzzled then he had a first," did I convince you to aid me in my cause Templar?" She asked finally a smirk playing on her lips as he looked him over. ------ Fenris nodded," i will try my best, thank you for understanding...so why are you so small? I know you are strong and capable but all the illistrations I have seen of Qunari have been large and intimedating, while you are smaller and intense." He said as he had looked her over trying to help her understand his question.

Caden was surprised at just how vocal she could be, especially when it came to bashing her magesters so openly. He never knew much about their circles workings, but to think mages had that kind of power was a bit of a scary thought. Not that he didn't trust mages, he just didn't trust magic... At her question, since most of her information she shared would have scared away any Templar, he gave her a smile. "I'm still here aren't I? To be honest, I can't say I really care about wars between mages or even your magester's contribution to them. The Chantry tries to paint it all as some kind war of faith and dangerous magic. As long as we aren't killing one another in the streets I'm thinking even corruption keeps a balance for your home. I sure as hell know it keeps some sort of strange control here in Ferelden..." He said though he offered her a shrug. "THough I'm not much of an expert on the world and all the corrupt people within it. So don't take what I say to much heart if I accidentally offend..." He said being honest with her. ~~ Of course his first question went to her height, making Maraas puff out her chest a bit in pride. "My blood is mixed. My father was a proud soldier, Karashok in fact. My mother was a Bas from a small village that was conquered, a human... a Viddath-bas now." She didn't explain the last bit since it was something she'd rather not go in to. An outsider wouldn't know about the Viddath-bas because they would have to know extensively about the Qun. The Viddath-bas were conqured people that refused to convert and were turned into mindless workers by the Ben-Hassrath, or peace-keepers, with a substance known as "qamek" that was made of lyrium. It wiped memories, feelings, and most thought from the mind and was very dangerous. She said her heritage, keeping her head held high as she spoke to show she was not ashamed. She didn't have reason to be....Her father was a proud man and her mother may have been a Bas, but she was a not a dirty woman. She was still Qunari and took after her father, thank the Qun.... "And you, why are you so tall? Elves back home are shorter." She asked with a raise of her brow.

He nodded at her andwer findig it sufficent however he smirked at her question about his heigth. " i am tall because my father was tall, just as my sister is tall and our mother was tall. I am Dalish Maraas, i am closer related to the older Elven- who were taller then the elves in Ferelden it seems, i am at my best because I can see a bit more of the world." He said adding a joke after he explained it to her. M ------ She looked at him seriously," dont take me wrong templar- im not a good person either- im a survivalist, i do what needs to be done, with out much question. How ever if you prove yourself worthy i might avoid killing you if possible. I just wanted to grt that done and said so we are clear. Fenris is my charge and I will get him back and then ainwill behead that stuffy mage and say he was a casuality of the war. He lied to me- he will pay but first the boy." Dhe said as she straightened ou on her horse and went a head a bit wantig to cover a bit more ground now that she explained a few ground rules to him. She hoped he could live with that, she had to every day. She had made some terrible choices to getti er proud possition however it came at a cost, she had to kill some good people, some bad people, hell even mages who were- who even knows... She had a lot of blood on her hands and it sickened her... She didnt want to loose an innocent and have his blood on her hands too.she looked a bi down trodden as she moved on , her face looking down at her saddle and her hands there, a sad but soft expression there as she remembered the bodies she had stacked afterwards, it was sickenig.

Maraas actually laughed a bit at his joke, the sound softer than what most would anticipate. "Honestly the told does not look bad from down here." She said before she gave a bit of pause at his mention of being Dalish. "Dalish are here too, but they travel. Does your family travel alot too?" She asked since the Dalish here were wanderers of the forest. -------- Caden didnt argue with her statement, since he felt it wise not to. Anyone woman who seriously threatened a Templar on their home soil was not kidding or stupid. He wen for the latter and made a guess that she was quite powerful. That was a given considering a few factors, one being how she carried herself. He could get used to that, but the threat of being killed didnt sit well. He wasn't going to let her kill him. Not right now at least. "You said the Mage lied to you...about what?" He asked, not understanding that bit.

She glanced back over at him and smirked when he didnt retort with somethig nasty at her threat. " evidence found. He tried to tell me valuables had also been taken when the most valuable thing missing wasthe Mageister himself. His markings cost a fortune to place there- they were old Dalish markings and worth a lot- we could sell the large estae they own, the docks and the markets to the last rat and we still couldnt affordto pay whatthe boy is worth..." She said telling a good portion of the truth. It they sold all the people thy might have a low change o barginig, but she wasnt really one for slaves. ------ Fenris laughed along with her at her retort," no- we are decendants of dalish, not dalish now. They traveled north to where Im from long ago and some stayed and settled in- got along wih society and i just so happened to be lucky and be a mage in a rich family. Isnt that nice of the maker." He said with a smirk notreally knowig about the Qunari religious points of view.
