Adam wrenched his hand back. " Whatever." Once again Zarek had put him in a foul mood. " I'm going out." He muttered. Heading to the front door he grabbed his shoes quickly shoving the sneakers on before he went for a walk down to the park. At least here he could think and clear his mind.

He finally turned on the tv as he listened to his brother walk out of the house "whatever" he said mostly to himself and started to channel surf. He really couldn't believe his brother at times, though he must admit that his brother was putting up with him very well. Most people would have just left already, but that was probably cause Zarek ran must people off. He didn't like to have friends get close, hell he couldn't even stand to have a girl by his side most of the time. Cause in his eyes sooner or later you will be disappointed in the people you surround yourself with. So before he could get hurt by anyone anymore he would just run them off.

Adam was entirely frustrated and fed up with this whole damned situation. How was this going to turn out into something positive. Should he give up and leave Zarek alone, maybe he'd still have a shot with Jade if he went back. Hand running through his hair he sighed as he stood at the entrance to the bar. That's what he needed a nice good drink.

Zarek was enjoying the peace in the house for once, no old memories nagged him and no brother either. But it was short lived when he felt his phone going off so he turned off the tv and looked at his phone. Well that was something new, work was calling him. He picked up the phone "Hey" he listened a little bit and his boss sounded panicked "Alright just calm down I will be there in about ten minutes" he told him and hung up the phone. Zarek pulled himself off the couch and grabbed his jacket on the way out of the house. He never would have figured to be called in on his week off but he was thankful for it none the less. Cause being at work meant that he could avoid his brother all the more.
Zarek walked through the back door of the bar and his boss ran up to him. "I have no idea what's with the spike of customers but thank you for coming in" he almost screamed out and Zarek just chuckled. He hung his coat on the rack and slicked his hair back before going out on the floor and behind one of the bars. He immediately started tending to customers all the while filling drink orders for the shot girls to pick up.

It shouldn't have suprised Adam as much as it did when he ran into old friends from the neighbour hood. Drink in hand he watched as one of the guys lined up at the pool table. " Come on Adam. For old times sake let's see who's the best still?" Jarrod teased. " Oh please, i'll kick your ass you know I'll win."As a crowd began to form around them he smirked some.

After things had settled down at the bar Zarek grabbed an apron and put it on. Then he grabbed a bus-bucket and started to walk around the bar picking up empty bottles and glasses along with plates and bowls. This was part of the night on his normal days of work that he liked, things would slow down and he could clean up while listening to music. But seeing the spike in sales he figured that this wasn't going to be the last rush of the night. No matter he still wanted to clean up the place before the next rush.
As he walked throughout the bar cleaning up he walked over to the pool table area and stopped. Here he thought it was going to be a decent end to his night but there was his brother playing pool at his work place. He sighed a little to himself and just went on about his business of cleaning. "Hey, can we get another round?" He heard someone call to him and he looked up to one of the guys near his brother. "Sure thing" He said quickly trying to avoid eye contact with his brother. 'Just great' he thought to himself, this was just one more thing for his brother to make fun of him for. That he had to work hours on end at a bar just to make rent and his other bills while his brother probably had a nice cushy job and anything that he wanted. He groaned a little to himself and finished up at around the pool table area and headed back over to the bar to get the drinks.

He won but no suprise there Jarrod seriously sucked at playing pool. " Well I believe it's your shout." Adam informed his highschool friend. As Jarrod got another round he set the pool table back up. " Alright. Let's just play for fun. Who's in?"
With a shocked expression he looked up his eyes falling on Zarek. He'd walked out of the house to get away from his brother and now he had discovered the guy worked here. Sighing as Zarek deliberatly avoided eye contact he returned to the game.

Zarek took his time getting the drinks ready for the group, he really didn't want to go back over there but he knew that if he didn't his boss was going to get word off it. "Come on Zarek, you are never this slow" he heard one of the other bartenders call to him and he just looked up and rolled his eyes "yea there's a reason for it" he said as he finished up the last drink and his coworker walked over to him. "And why's that?" He asked resting against the bar, Zarek jabbed a thumb over his shoulder "My older brother is in town and we've been fighting ever since plus after a fight he came here and I got called in. Now tell me why I should be quick to serve him" he looked up and over Zarek's shoulder to the pool tables. He only laughed some and slapped Zarek on the shoulder "Buck up man. At least you are getting paid" he said and Zarek only glared at him.
But none the less he picked up the tray and walked back over to the pool table area. He set the drinks down on the table "Here you go. Would you like me to just put it on your tab Jarrod?"

Waiting for his turn Adam glanced momentarily towards Zarek as he placed the drinks down. " Yeah, thanks." Jarrod answered. Of course his brother wasn't going to talk to him. With a shake of his head he stared around the bar looking for a designated smoking area. Finding it out in the court yard he pulled out his smokes. " I'll be right back." If alcohol wouldn't calm his nerves surely a smoke would.

He wanted to say something to his brother but nothing that was nice was coming to mind so he just let it go. Maybe later at home he could say something but with his brothers stares he knew it was probably the best idea just to walk away. Zarek picked up his tray and put it under his arm. He slowly made his way back over to bar and dropped the tray on the counter "Didn't go well I take it" Zarek glared at his friend again and he shrugged his shoulders walking behind the bar again. Now he couldn't wait for this night to be over so he could go home and just go to bed.

The effect of the smoke was already calming Adam's nerves as he drew in another puff then exhaled softly. " Smoking is bad." A voice informed him. Shaking his head at Jarrod he smirked some. " So is drinking which is your vice isn't it?" He retorted. " Everyone is going to die of something though aren't they." He reasoned.
Finishing up with his smoke he stubbed it out and then followed Jarrod back towards the pool table. " So what's up man. Why are you here?" Jarrod asked. Driink in hand he took a seat near Jarrod. " Old man died. Going to live in the house with my younger brother for a while." He explained. " Hmm. How's that going for you?" A glance towards Zarek and Adam shrugged. " It's..interesting."

Zarek was getting a little tried and pulled off his apron "I'm taking my break" he called out and without waiting for a reply he walked out the back door and leaned against the nearest wall. He rummaged through is pockets and pulled out a worn pack of smokes. He looked in the pack and sighed heavily, he didn't have enough to get another pack and he was running out. But he pulled one out and lit it, taking a long drag off of it and feeling better.
"Here" his boss walked out the door handing him a drink "I don't do this often but it looks like you could use it" Zarek looked down at the drink and wondered what was in it, his boss never offered liquor to his employees while they were on the clock but he took it from him and sipped at it "thanks" he said and his boss crossed his arms "So you want to tell me what is going on?" He inquired and Zarek looked at him debating. "Not really" he said but knew he wouldn't get away with that "Ok how bout this, I am telling you to tell me so that I can deal with this. You are one of my best employees and I'd hate to fire you over something stupid." He had a good point so Zarek swigged about half of his drink and looked his boss in the eye "My father passed away recently and in order for me to get the house I have to live in it for 6 months with my older brother" "Ah" was all his boss said and turned to walk back inside.

Adam was growing less comfortable being in the bar with Zarek so close. Not wanting to intrude further in the place his brother worked at he stood up. " Hey listen Jarrod i'm going to call it a night. You know where Zarek and I live so i'll see you around." With a nod of his head he bid good bye to the remainder of the group finished his drink
Walking out of the bar he sighed standing momentarily out on the curb. This was going to be one hell of a six months. Regaining his thoughts he dragged his sorry ass back home.

After getting back from his break Zerak went directly behind the bar as the next rush of customers came in, he was thankful that he was busy that he didn't have time to think about his brother being there. But as the rush died down just as quickly as it came Zarek noticed that his brother wasn't there anymore. He sighed a little hoping he hadn't made him mad enough to leave, that wasn't his intention this time but that he was just doing his job. "Hey Zarek, every things pretty much finished up. You can head home if you like" his boss called to him as he walked up and turned off their open sign. Zarek turned around and looked out at the bar, there was still some cleaning to be done and to put the chairs up not to mention the dishes. He shrugged his shoulders not really wanting to go home just yet. "I'll close up tonight. You can go on home to your wife" his boss looked at him funny. "Are you sure?" He asked before he headed to his office "Yea, I'm sure she's dieing to spend time with you" "Very true. Thanks Zarek, I owe you" he said and grabbed his coat heading out the door.
Zarek locked the door behind his boss and then turned to the empty and dirty bar. "No, thank you" he said to himself and started cleaning up all the trash and placing the chairs on the tables as he went by. He was trying to run through everything in his head that he could say to his brother or do for his brother but he would always come up with trying to piss him off. It was kind of like habit, he wanted to do all the things he could to his brother that he did to him or at least get even and make his brother feel as he did now. Zarek took one more look around the bar and was satisfied at how clean it was and made his way back to the bar to get started on all the glasses. It was nearing 4 and he still had a pile of dishes to do 'Well no sleeping for me' he thought to himself and turned up the music in the bar so that he wouldn't fall asleep.

Adam stood leaning against the window frame of his bedroom quietly looking out at the yard. What would be a good way to make this place less miserable. They had lived here for many years maybe it was time to rekindle some of his friendships. People like Jarrod had been great friends in highshool and the fact that the guy had so easily rekindle the friendship had left Adam very appreciative.
So would that work. Or would he need to do something else. Stretching out on his bed he sighed staring at the ceiling. He was so exhausted now he'd just have to think about it tomorrow as he flicked off the beside lamp.
