It was dark; she couldn’t see a thing as she ran to her freedom. She didn’t know the day or time, she was some where between here and there. It seemed like weeks since she felt fresh air in her lungs, she coughed every time she took in another breath. Her lungs blazed warning her to stop to catch her breath but she ignored the warning signs. She ran on, her feet were bare and they throbbed as she ran on sticks, rocks and what ever else that littered the forest floor. Blood seeped from her feet mimicking the seeping blood from the open wound that rests above her heart. The feeling of pain was long gone. Her ears bled as well, she couldn’t remember from what. The sounds of the forest was too much to bear, the noises gave her a headache but she wasn’t about to stop. Her heart bled, an object lodged its way far into her chest making it difficult for her to breathe as well. Fear rang throughout her body, she didn’t dare look back; the sight would only scare her more. She kept her eyes ahead of her, trying to see as far ahead as she could through the dark cloak over the forest. Dead silenced soon fell upon her, the forest noises were gone and her brain couldn’t register the sudden silence and the lack of sound stung her ears. She received no relief from silence. A blue light quickly lit half the forest moving from right to left across the forest in front of her followed by a red light, and again the lights chased each other across the forest scene. A deafening sound pierced the balmy night air making the blood from her ears run faster down her cheeks. She hopped a log and stumbled down a hill, tripping a couple of times and finally falling. She rolled down the hill till she slammed into the side of a small hut. She drew herself up and light wrapped her hands around her head "Ow" she called out softly.
((Need someone to play the owner of the hut. Male please. The rest is up to you.))

Are You Well In The Suffering? Dark suntanned skin, and hair as white as the snow. Odd combination but he didn't care. It was around supper time and so he had begun to cook a stew. He stirred it carefully and then sat on his bed made of fur. His little hut was small but it suited him well enough. He didn't need much. It was sturdy enough to withstand severe weather and large enough to accommodate all that he had. He didn't like living with people much anyways. His necklace made of a substance that was suspiciously like bone, clinked as he tasted his stew. It was salty and had a wonderful taste of meat and a few vegetables he grew in the back of his hut. It was a decent night. He stayed up late and slept little. He never had been one to sleep. He really enjoyed the forest scenery so much different from what he had been used to from before. Dry deserts weren't much good for food, unless you knew where to look. Sighing, he was heading to get a small plate for himself when there was a loud bang and his small place rattled. Muttering under his breath, he thought it was a bear and went to grab a curved knife. He peaked his way outside but there was no scent of bear. There was the scent of blood however. He looked around and caught site of a girl, hands wrapped around her head. He cursed and stepped back inside for a moment, debating leaving her there. Though he did have a heart. Tucking the knife into his belt he walked outside, a tattoo almost shaped like a claw marked scar seeming to glint off of the light of a small fire outside of his hut. He didn't like the feeling of the air outside right now, so without saying a word he picked the girl up, gently however as he could tell she was hurt and brought her inside, setting her on the ground. If she had put up a fight than he wouldn't have noticed very much. When he was determined to do something he was going to do it, though he probably would have an injury if she had struggled, though he hadn't noticed if she had. "Now what is wrong with you?" He questioned, his voice rough from not talking to anyone in a while. It was deep and held an accent though it wouldn't have been playable in this day and age. ((Hope this is alright as well!))

Her head rung and she couldn't get her eyes to stop making her world spin. She looked around as much as she could but nothing was registering. Blood dripped from her ears and there were several cuts that ran from the top of her shoulders down her back and even on the bottoms of her feet. Her whole body ached and her brain barely register that someone had picked her up. She panicked for a moment when she felt herself moving with out her feet doing it and then she was sitting on a hard surface.
Evangeline flinched when someone spoke and she could only assume it was directed to her. The ringing in her head worsened as she thought over his words. "Sorry" she said quietly and started to cough. She covered her mouth and once she was done she looked at her hand and that was covered in blood too. She wiped her hand on her clothes. She looked up to see a dark man and his light heard confused her. She noted his expression and he didn't look happy. Evangeline slipped her legs under and slowly got to her feet. "I'm sorry" she said again thinking he hadn't heard the first time. "I've got to run..." she said absentmindedly and headed in a direction she thought the door was "...they'll find me...can't go back" she mumbled and kept trying to walk to the door.

"Oh no your not." He said through gritted teeth, hoping he wouldn't regret this later. He grabbed her and forced her to sit down onto a chair he had pulled out. She looked horrible and he sighed, going and grabbing a wet wash cloth, antibiotic ointment, and bandages. "I won't let them get you. You are safe here. Just let me help you. You are bleeding all over." He said in a softer tone than earlier. He didn't know why he was helping her, especially if she was being chased but that didn't matter right now as she had coughed up blood and was bleeding from practically everywhere. Really he didn't know how she was still conscious, loosing so much blood at once. She must have been in a lot of pain. He to the was cloth to her ears first and wiped off the blood, making sure there were no lacerations. The he went to her feet, cleaning and bandaging then gently.
After that he noticed blood through her clothing and on her shoulders and back. Also he though he saw blood on her chest. "I am going to have to take off your top to get to the rest of your injuries. I'm not going to do anything I promise." He than said and took his knife out to cut open the back of her shirt. He wasn't sure if she would let him but by the looks of it, the worse was underneath of it. He went slowly and if she objected than he would try and reason with her. He didn't want to have to deal with a dead person. He had done that enough before.

“Eep” Evangeline squeaked as he pulled her back down to a seat and made her sit. Her mind whirled and fought back against him “How do I know you aren’t one of them” she countered but he walked off saying something about not letting them get her and coming back with some first aid items. Then he started to clean her wounds. She flinched away from him when he cleaned up the blood from her ears and then he moved to her feet. Those were even more sensitive and she tried to pull them away but he was able to get them bandaged.
She thought it was over at that point and then his words hit her just as he cut the back of her shirt. She quickly moved away from him. She felt exposed and this guy just helped himself to whatever he wanted and how did she know that he wouldn’t take advantage of her in this state. “Excuse me!” She exclaimed “I may be banged up and not able to do much right now but I still have personal space” she snapped at him finally finding her voice but it was really rough from breathing hard and she desperately needed water. “I don’t even know your name” She said relaxing back on the chair, her body was hurting but the adrenaline running through her body was blocking out most of the pain. Though as she sat there her adrenaline was wearing off quickly and the pain was becoming more prominent as she winched here and there from just sitting in the chair. She was holding up what was left of her shirt to cover herself but was also fidgeting and looking around a lot as if the devil’s were going to jump out and grab her.

"My apologies mam...I haven't been around anyone in a long..long time." He said as he realized the brashness of his actions. He hadn't realized that it might have been a bit...not the greatest impression. He sighed wondering if he should have bothered bringing her into his small place. He got her a glass of water and then one of his shirts. It should be slightly dress like on her but he wasn't sure, at least it was clean. He handed her the glass of water and set the shirt on her lap.
He winced when she said that she hadn't even known his name. He hated telling people his name so through gritted teeth and an uncomfortable voice he muttered, "Anubis." Hopefully the girl had no real knowledge of Egyptian history so he wouldn't be asked dumb questioned. Noticing her growing pain, he got her a bowl of what he had been cooking earlier and mixed in a few medicinal herbs that would hopefully dull the pain a little. "Here eat this and if you want to sleep you can." He pointed with his head over to the fur and animal skin bed. It may not have looked very comfortable but it was soft and just squishy enough for him. "If you want to give me your name you can as well." He then commented and sat down on another chair by the table, with a bowl of food for himself. He meant well but he seemed cold and as if he didn't really want her around.

Evangeline sigh when he backed off a little and sat back against the chair lightly watching him walk around. She was happy when he brought her a new shirt cause he tore up the only clothing that she had. She winched a little here and there as the pain started to get worse. Evangeline kept an ear out just in case the devils found her trail. She would not be going back, she would rather die then go back.
She turned her head to look at the bed he was talking about, it looked nice but she was in too much pain to even think about sleeping plus she had to be on her guard just in case she had to run again. She looked back at him when he told her his name, she smiled. She was a little happy when he decided to give his name however odd it was. "It's nice to meet you Anubis and thank you for your help. My name is Evangeline" she said taking a few sips of the food. "I'm sorry to intrude on your home and I didn't mean to run into the side of your home. If there is any damage I will fix it" she said just remembering the last few minutes.

Anubis noticed her winces and nodded his head towards the bowl of soupy food he had set down on the table next to her. "I hope the food isn't too bad. I'm not the greatest chef and I almost never cook for others." He commented and shrugged his shoulders. It was true his food was mediocre and edible but it lacked on the taste value and usually turned out a little too salty. He heard her name and a small smirk appeared and than quickly vanished. It was a pretty name and if she got cleaned up he figured it would suit her very nicely.
"It's nice to meet you to Evangeline. It's pretty, your name that is." He replied and ate a little bit of his meal.He chuckled some then at her comment about damages to his little hut. "Don't worry about it. I doubt that with your petite frame that you did much more than tilt it a little off center." He looked up at her for a moment before going back to gazing absent mindedly at his food."Plus I don't think you will be up for a long while. If there is anything you need though I will try to provide it." He added. The last part was mainly to try and comfort her. He would provide if she asked but only if she asked. He wasn't sure why she was even out in the woods at this time. He would leave that question for another time though.

He was nice in sort of a rough up front manner but nothing compared to watch she had put up with ten years of her life. She took more bites of the food, it wasn't bad and defiantly tasted better then the gruel she had been getting "It tastes just fine to me" she said setting her bowl down and listened to him talk. He didn't know her that was defiantly sure because if he did then his judgement of her would be a 180 from what it was now.
"I maybe small but I can put up with a lot...and I have. You have no idea" she said softly not really going into but she was sure that he had a lot of questions for her. Plus she did feel kind of rude intruding on his home and possibly waking him up. He didn't look like the type that would have company often if ever.

"Well I'm glad it's not horrible." Anubis commented before digging in some more. He had been quite hungry waiting for his food after all. He was silent for a moment after she mentioned being through a lot and than he sighed and looked up at her. He had some secrets of his own that he would rather not share. The reasoning behind his seclusion from the rest of the world. A different scenery from his home land so as to not awaken his true nature. He shivered at the thought and than looked back down at his food. "I may not have any idea but I am sorry for what ever it was." He then mentioned, his voice holding a note that he had something else on his mind, something most likely he did not want to mention. He finished his serving and washed his utensils and bowl. "Would you like anything else? More food or water?" He questioned as he came back to the table. Right now though his mind was more on the fact of sleeping arrangements. He would just have to make a makeshift bed for himself on the opposite side of the room.

She looked him over again trying to figure him out, there was something about him that just scared the hell out of her and plus that what was he doing all the way out here and by himself. There had to be others. Maybe he was a watch guard for the devils and he just didn't know what he was looking for. "Water would be nice" she said in a soft voice and then she slipped the borrowed shirt over her head and let her rag of a shirt drop into her lap. She suppress a yelp as the shirt slid over the cut on her back.

He grabbed her bowl and cup, cleaned the bowl, and than filled up the cup. After giving her another cup of water he got busy and grabbed his extra skins for when it was winter and made himself a makeshift bed on the other side of the table. He put all of his heavy blankets to Evangeline and he took all of his light blankets. He figured that was a polite thing to do. It could get cold up in these hills during the night. After making the beds he put his dishes away and did his nightly routine. At the end of his chores he walked over to his bed and took off his shift, back towards the girl. He didn't like sleeping in more that shorts but for the girls sake and his own self consciousness he only took off his shirt. His dark tanned skin was toned and revealed a large tattoo in between his shoulder blades. He sat down in his mini bed and than looked at Evangeline. "If you want to go to bed I am planning on doing that now but if you have any concerns or anything let me know okay." He commented, waiting to see if she would mention anything. Tatto:

Evangeline watched Anubis walk around, she took the cup from him and took a long sip of it. The water felt great on her throat and it was gone in no time. She watched him getting ready for bed and she took that as her cue and got up from the chair. She placed her cup in the kitchen and turned around to see him take off his shirt. Her cheeks reddened and she quickly turned around. She waited a few seconds and then when he started talking she turned back around "Rest would probably be good" she said walking over to the bed he had pointed out earlier "thank you" she said softly and laid down. She had never slept on skins before but they were soft and comfortable. She felt bad, she had planned on just sleeping any where but it looked like he was giving her the bed.

"No problem." Anubis muttered quite softly and slid under the small covers. The skins were comfortable to him and the littlest thing he could manage to remind himself of who he really was with out actually making him remember. He didn't like remembering his past. It usually took him a little while to calm down after wards. He never remembered after the fact though. Just little snippets in his dreams. He was probably not going to sleep tonight but that wouldn't bother him. He didn't really need sleep. Sighing, he put his arms underneath of his head and watched the ceiling. He knew time went by as the only light source in his little hut began to dim into almost complete darkness, yet leaving enough light to see to move around if needed. After a few hours, Anubis realized for a fact that he would not be getting asleep tonight so as quietly as he could he got back up and walked outside. Maybe he could figure out why the air hadn't felt right this night.

It was easy for her to fall asleep but not stay sleep. She turned over on her other side but that hurt and she wanted to scream but contained herself. After a little bit she popped upright at a sound forgetting where she was. She clutched the fur blanket to her chest and looked around. It was dark and she couldn't really see anything "W-who's there?" She stammered not trusting her own voice.
