((Okay, so anyone can join. I am looking for someone to play the new male teacher!. PM if you are interested/want more information on the character. There's a bit of plot you need to know before making him ^.^
~And the feel of it rushes through me~
The sun was covered by puffy clouds, a gentle rain bouncing off of the windshield of the taxi. Gwen's eyes were glued to the scenery. The countryside was cast in a grey shadow but that didn't stop the green fields from looking almost mystic with the light breeze making the tall, wet grass sway. So engrossed in the surroundings, she did not notice the car stop. When the door was opened and trunks popped, her head snapped out of it, brown hair falling into her eyes as it came out of the loose band she had it held up in.
Sliding out, her brown eyes widened slightly at the building in front of her. It was a two and a half story brick and stone house, set back on a hill. There were fields everywhere, but for what looked like a forest not much more than a quarter of a mile behind the house. It was elegant and looked well kept. It definitley wasn't what she had expected her Aunt to be living in. The house was longer than it was tall, with pale yellow-grey stone and two smoking chimneys.
The wind blew the chilly rain against Gwen's bare shoulders, the black tank she was wearing didn't seem to be enough clothing now. The driver helped her with her bags and she paid him, watching him drive off down the small road, back to civilization. Gwen hadn't known that taxi's drove out this far, but she guessed things were different in this country. Her eyes facing the house, she squinted as the wind picked up, her hair almost completely out of it bindings. Figuring she didn't want all of her things to be soaked, he made her way up the hilly walkway and to the front door. It wasn't that she hated rain, she just didn't want to make a mess in her aunts home.
As soon as she reached the porch, Gwen's aunt opened the front door, her pale lips in a smile and cheeks pink. She looked like she had been rushing and without warning gave Gwen a huge hug.
"Oh darling, you must be exhausted from your trip!" She exclaimed, leaning away from her niece. Her hair was brown with greying strips, eyes hazel with natural lines across her face. She was a kind, thin lady whom Gwen hadn't seen for many years. She was her mother's sister, the only other family Gwen had known, excluding her mother and brother of course.
Smiling, Gwen could smell something cooking, though she doubted it was lunch. "Hey Auntie Mor." Gwen greeted her aunt in the name she had always called her. It was informal, but their relationship had always been close. "What are you brewing up?" Her eye brown quirked up as she was led inside, pulling her luggage, two suitcases and two bags.
"Oh, the farmer down the road is having trouble with his vegetables and I told him I could help." She chuckled, Gwen rolling her eyes. She expected that the farmer would be shocked in a few weeks when his vegetables were twice the usual size. "But, we have lots more to talk about than what I am cooking in the kitchen. Go upstairs and unpack. I'll have lunch ready in about an hour." Gwen nodded and proceeded to find the stairs.
Lugging everything upstairs was easier than expected, though the amount of doors on the second floor left her confused until one of the doors opened. Sighing, she entered to find a pale green room with dark brown furniture and a comfy looking bed. Setting everything down, she collapsed onto the bed.
It had been one hell of a trip, coming from the middle of the US all the way the the English country side. Her mother's job had picked up and her brother was now an apprentice to some big shot in the council of elders. Stretching out, Gwen's eyes turned towards one of the windows in the room. She thought she would miss home, but really she hadn't had a true home in quite a few years. Her mother was a witch, the kind that could do magic. She worked for the Council, doing what Gwen knew not, but she was important and was often times sent to different towns for her job. Lately, things had gotten a lot busier and thus, she had sent Gwen off to her only other family. That of course meant she would be in her last year of high school at a private academy in the middle of nowhere. Gwen didn't mind much though, it gave her time to learn more about magic from her aunt, who was also a witch. That meant that Gwen and her brother had been gifted with the powers too. It was exciting and fun, but their kind was much more rare than they used to be. Closing her light brown eyes, she sighed. It made making friends much harder when you had such a huge secret.
Gwen didn't mind coming out to live with her aunt. In fact, she was quite a bit excited. The biggest problem being, no cellular bars and...school started tomorrow.
On the bright side, her eighteenth birthday was next Saturday. From my heart down to my legs
The ride to school was about a half hour. She said her goodbyes to her aunt before stepping out and adjusting the grey skirt and green blazer that was her new schools uniform. She found herself staring at a large campus. The building in front of her was the size of a large castle, the gardens that started on either side looking immense. It was in actuality a boarding school, but for those that lived close by, they didn't have to begin living in the dorms until the second week of school. Or, maybe it was just that she had gotten special dispensation since she was in a new country and all that.
Gwen made it inside without attracting too much attention to herself. Most of the kids seemed to be excited to see each other after summer break and weren't really paying attention to anything but their friends. There was a school orientation that everyone was supposed to go to. Gwen followed everyone but heard her name called. She turned and found a curvy blond woman with glasses perched on her nose wave to her. Gwen made her way over to her and the woman smiled. "Gwen Sebraia, I presume." She stated and Gwen nodded her head. The woman seemed to brighten up, her smile widening. "Wonderful, I am Headmistress Lea. I am good friends with your aunt." She winked, a bit of mischief in her eyes. "And don't worry about keeping any secrets from me, I already know your biggest one." Gwen's brow rose in slight shock, the woman's aura seeming to envelope her. It had the feeling of power, the kind that only one who practices magic would have. It also felt pink. The weird thing about auras was, that unless you opened up your site, you couldn't see an aura. Each color felt differently. Headmistress Lea's was definitley pink.
Smiling a bit shyly, Gwen opened her mouth to speak but the women seemed distracted suddenly. "Oh, you must make sure to get here early next Saturday. You don't want to get stuck with a bad room!" The headmistress pushed her glasses up onto her nose and began walking in the opposite direction of all of the students. Gwen just stood there for a moment, a look of confusion on her face. Sighing, she turned around, to find that the last of the students were ahead of her. Sighing, she walked at a quickened pace to try and catch up.
She found herself in an auditorium, the ceremony had already started. Biting her bottom lip, she slipped in, finding a seat at the back right hand corner. There was a black haired boy who looked to be asleep in the chair next to her. Rolling her eyes, she tried to pay attention to the speaker on stage, but found it difficult. It was the same speech you would get everywhere. Welcome back, here are the new changes to the school, new teachers, yada-yada-yada.
It was over relatively quickly though and kids began to stand, the quiet theater was now loud with chatter. Gwen didn't stand up right away, glanced around and then at the boy who still had his eyes closed. She nudged him and he bolted upright, light blue eyes wide. He turned to face Gwen, his pale cheeks flushing slightly. "Ah, thanks." He murmured and then smiled. His eyes narrowed as he looked at her face. "Are you a new one? I don't think I've met you before." He stood, Gwen following suit and nodded her head.
"I just transferred." She inwardly cringed as she spoke, her American accent blatantly obvious. The boy laughed as they both exited out of their seat. A bell rang, echoing throughout the building. Groans from all of the students could be audibly heard.
"Hey, I'll be by the fountain in the west garden at lunch. Come find me and I'll show you around." He winked and disappeared in the crowd.
The bell had meant five minutes to get to your class. Now that was harder said than done for Gwen. This was her first time in the giant school and apparently signs for hallways would have made things too hard. So, she was late for her first class. She had gotten a hard look from the teacher, but no words were exchanged as she was pointed to a seat. There were a few murmurs in the class and Gwen just wanted to go hide in a closet. Of course she would be late for her first class.
The next two didn't go horribly. She made it on time, albeit having to ask directions from both of her previous teachers. They seemed a bit more understanding, if not a bit more friendly after they found out she was a new transfer student. Lunch didn't come quick enough, the bell signaling the eating period was met with loud chatter. Gwen made her way to the cafeteria, the high ceilings and chandeliers enough to make her think of it as more of a ballroom. She grabbed a sandwich and some chips, making her way out of the enormous room as quick as she could. It was loud and not very orderly due to it being the first day.
Remembering what the boy from earlier had said, she wandered around until she found a door to outside. The skies were cloudy, but no rain was falling. It seemed she had found her way to a garden, but if it was the west garden, she had no idea. After a few minutes of walking, she heard the sound of water and followed it. Laughter became apparent soon after and as she rounded a corner, a group of three students were eating and talking while sitting on the edge of an ornate fountain with a topless lady pouring out a water jug.
She recognized the black haired boy from earlier and he looked up, his voice loud as he shouted a hello. "This is the foreign transfer I was telling you about." He stood up and walked over to her. She must have looked a bit unsure about everything because the girl of the group stood as well and pushed the black haired boy away. She had a shock of red hair on her head, it pulled back into a straight tail. "Back off Finn. She looks flustered." She faced Gwen and smiled. "I'm Meghan, you've already met Finn, and the quiet boy in the back is Connor." She introduced herself and the other two, her smile was friendly and contagious. Gwen couldn't help but form one on her lips as well. "I'm Gwen. It's nice to meet you." She introduced herself, hoping it wasn't too formal. Meghan blinked for a second before grabbing Gwen's arm and pulling her to sit down on the fountain. "You didn't tell me she was American! No wonder you look so confused." She shook her head and Finn just left a goofy smile on his face. Connor kept eating, a bit of amusement present in his eyes, but he didn't seem very talkative as of yet. So she ate with the three until they heard the bell ring, the group promising that tomorrow they would actually show her around the building.
But the room is so quiet...
It was the last class of the day and Gwen had found out that she had the same classes as Meghan after lunch. It made things so much easier when trying to find her class. Meghan was going on about the last teacher, the poor woman had an obnoxious habit of whispering while she spoke. They sat down, Gwen laughing at the face Meghan was making. The bell rang once more, a sound Gwen was beginning to dislike, signaling the start of the last class. Everyone quieted down as the teacher entered. Gwen was a bit shocked to find how young he was. He barely looked older than herself, though it could be hard to tell with men sometimes. "He's the new teacher they were talking about at the assembly." Meghan whispered to Gwen. She nodded and opened up her book to the page number that had been written on the board. Something about him was nagging at Gwen. He wasn't a magic user, that wasn't what he felt like. Blinking a few times, she tried to clear her mind. She was just over thinking things. Class was more important at this point in time.
