Ralyn Dhatachi- normal every dayRalyn in angel formInez ShilinAlong the vast plains that lead to the many towns and diverse peoples all the way to the abrupt mountains, there was a small group of travelers-most lay slaughtered on the ground in an out right fashion, others being drug about by their mounts still. The one thing that never ceased to make him smile more than anything else was death in its most un-natural ways. The clouds were gathering in the sky telling about a storm that was predicted to pass later that afternoon. It would wash away all the blood that was there. Not the bodies-which would decompose in time, and not the memories he was savoring the lingering pain in the air, the fear still clinging to him clothes like a woman's perfume. Taking a last breath, he got back onto his mount and rode back to his companion on the other side of the massacre-She was more than happy to see the mess, though that's how she had met him. Inez was a loud and busy girl till she was kid napped and sold into slavery-she had been there for a few years now. Being used as through she were mere property, between rich families and disgusting men she preferred this psycho by far. He wouldn't make any contact at all except eye contact-he didn't speak often to make him any more or less desirable as he didn't seem to have any interest in her what so ever except to show his work off too. She wasn't very concerned with him killing her, It would at least put her out of her misery. It had been almost a year now and he hasn't killed her yet so she assumed she was being kept around. Ralyn was more than happy to spare her life-she was pretty and would be a good fall back if he got caught-she looked like she could fight, She ever seemed to appreciate his works of art in his killing. A girl like that was worth having around when she likes it when you kill-that's something special. He wasn't much a talker but he loved to work with his hands. He didn't follow any laws that man or beast had placed into effect-he never found any reason too-he wasn't held to any providence he was a traveling nomad-not really caring where foot or wing lead him. He looked at a trail that lead to the mountains then a trial from town-he figured it was best to stay low for a bit since this was a large group that was missing-surely someone out for them all would be missed and searched for. Most people would assume it was a creature or creatures that slaughtered them as they slept but some people never believed the 'creature did it' rig. So it was necessary to lay low and out of the line of fire as well. "We will head into town for a few days- go gather the money you can find- I'll keep look out." He said in a simple monotone voice as to not give how excited he felt away. Inez looked at him with a slightly disgusted look but then tried to cover it up-hoping he wasn't too offended, she got off her mount and began to rummage threw the dead bodies and personal effects tills he came back with a handsome amount of gold and silver pieces that would keep then put up like royalty for a few days. She handed him the money in a bag she had found large enough to hold it and not look suspicious. He smiled at her a sharp toothed smile, "Thank you Little one. "He turned his mount towards the town-knowing she was going to follow- he felt a little less lonely knowing he had a follower who probably didn't know what was going on. Inez wiped off her blood spotted hands on her leggings and got back on her horse. Pulling the reins around to follow him she stopped for a second and said a small prayer for the dead, then bowed her head and followed him into town. She knew they would find no peace, the dead or the loved ones who had lost the family. She hoped that saying a prayer was enough to get them threw to the after life and not stuck there haunting the earth till their revenge was paid for in blood. Ralyn put up their mounts at an inn's stable and paid for them to be groomed and fed well. He made sure Inez wasn't covered in blood before he let her step into the inn itself. If he felt that they made a bad impression he got a little upset. A little upset as in gouging out others eyes and making hell on any and all people in the establishment. A bit chauvinistic, he thought that what was going on in his head was the truth and only truth that he would ever believe. Since every one else was wrong-always wrong about him. Kiva (Minus the horns though and she can hide her wings on command) It was a dark and stormy night; the rain fell in torrents, except at occasional intervals, when it was checked by a violent gust of wind which swept through the valley carrying with it the smell of decay. Two unlikely companions track through the forest atop the cliffs that over looked a valley till they came to the edge of the mountain side. One stood overlooking the gorge while the other stayed within the trees. “How many more places are we going to look” a tall cloaked figure called from behind the tree line. The young woman stood at the edge of the cliff. She looked down on the valley that looked quiet gruesome “As many as it takes to find him” her voice was soft but carried well on the shifting winds to the man’s ears. For which his response was just a grunt, she knew that he was tired but somehow she felt like she was close to her goal. She didn’t want to give up when she felt this close and if he wanted to be grumpy he could but she knew that he would stick by her though that was mostly because he had no choice. The cold wind passed reluctantly from the earth up to the sky, and the retreating fogs revealed an army of bodies stretched out among the vast area of the gorge. “Wonder what kind of monster could have done this” Her eyes scanned over the numerous bodies littered before her “Kiva, we must move on before the heart of the storm hits” she felt a strong hand rest on her shoulder. Kiva didn’t tear her gaze from the valley and she couldn’t bring herself to leave just yet. “Check for any survivors” she ordered him and his hand slipped from her shoulder “Do you think-” “Do it!” “As you wish mi’lady.”The clocked figure dropped from the cliff to land in the valley; quickly he started checking every dead man’s pulse to see if any still lived. Though he already knew that all had passed on but there was no way to tell Kiva that. She had always had a big heart, probably the reason why he was still alive but still did she always have to be so damn nice. Once he felt that she would be somewhat satisfied he turned to looked up to the cliffs shielding the pouring rain from his view to stare at her at the top. He was trying to think of something to tell her but knew that she would be filled with grief no matter what he said. But there he stood and waited for her to drop and so she did. Every time he watched her do things like that it always made his heart race, she looked like a little girl at times though he knew that she could do extraordinary things. Kiva glided up to him and searched his eyes for anything that would make this horrid scene better “None?” he shook his head and saw as he had many times before the light leave her eyes. “Come; let’s find some place to stay till the storm passes” Her eyes scanned the area once more praying for the souls that would be lost here. “Yes Reid” she softly said and he wrapped an arm around her waist leading her out of the gorge. -- It took the pair sometime to find the closet town and by the time they found an Inn to stay at they were soaked to the bone. Reid walked up to the counter “I need a room, any one it doesn’t matter” he told the man behind the desk. He looked up from her reading material and glanced at Reid who still had his hood to his cloak on and then to the woman beside him. Kiva’s hood was off but her eyes stared off as if she wasn’t there. Actually she wasn’t completely there. “We are cold and tired. Anything you have will do” the desk clerk snapped back to looking at Reid and nodded his head. He turned around and then handed Reid a key. “Your room is through those doors you take a left and it’s your fourth door on the left” “Thank you sir” he told the man and placed the money on the desk. Reid then turned back to Kiva and started to walk her to the room “Sir, wait…this is too much” “keep it” Reid told the old man knowing that Kiva wouldn’t mind. He was finally able to get her in the room and grabbed a towel for her to dry off. “Thank you Reid” with little force behind her words, even those seemed distant. He walked over to a chair in the corner and sat heavily “Are you sure that you want to continue this journey?” He asked her as he looked towards the bathroom. Her gaze never wavered from staring at the wall “I must” “But everywhere we go we find nothing but death, are you sure that this is the right thing to be doing?” “I have no other choice”And that was the last of it for the night as Kiva got comfortable under the covers and Reid set up a small bed for himself on the floor between the bed and the door to the room. Reid Danvers ((Hope this works. Sorry it took so long))

When they went to the desk Ralyn smiled at the man his eyes rather intimidating-with out purpose," I need two rooms, attached-if possible. " The clerk looked at him a bit weirdly their passed him a key, Inez left a good sum on the counter as they made their way threw the doors, "The third room on the right and the 6th room on the left...close enough.-Don't get lost now." Inez was handed the 6th rooms' key and she smiled, she got her own room- meaning he was trusting her more...She used to have to be watched at night but she guessed she was okay now. The only benefit she had now was that she could sleep with people looking at her. After watching her walk into her own room he turned to his, looking both ways down the hall he sighed opening his door. A few things were set out for the 'guest' but he shoved them on the floor-not caring for them.
In his saddle bags he set on the bed he dug out a A veil of red-ish liquid swishing it about he put it on all the entrances and exits in the room. He hated getting walked in on so he proofed it. It made it so any one who meant him harm couldn't pass over it. After that was done he breathed a bit easier. Shrugging off his jacket he sighed as he let his wings hang out. They had been rather stuffy in the humid air. Laying down he relaxed stretching out a few feathers shedding but he never minded it, they were about the room. Inez how ever took a nice bath and was already asleep by the time the storm hit. However when the lightening struck in town not far from them she rolled right out of bed. Scrambling up-she flung the door open-making it slam against the wall and scurried across the hall to knock on Ralyn's door. "Please open up! I'm scared of lightening...." Ralyn heard the door being flung open and got up- he knew she was afraid so he didn't even bother locking the door-he assumed it was going to happen. "Come in- its still open." She stepped into the room seeing that he was stretched out on the bed-feathers stretched out taking up most of the room. He had a content look on his face but it changed to a slightly complicated frown when he looked at her. While the door was open he heard a few other voices but he shrugged them off- he didn't care. "When the eye hits you go back to your room- I need some sleep too..." She nodded and crawled into the chair close to the bed and help his hand mostly by the arm like a teddy bear as she had for almost a year now when she was afraid of something. He was used to this, like a child whose parents never were home-they were used to being alone. It wasn't long for the storm to subside or her to fall asleep. Sighing Ralyn got his coat back on, his wings tucked tight he picked up Inez attempting to take her back to her room. When he opened the door a few feathers flew out-him not noticing he crossed the hall and put Inez to bed like a child, making sure to tuck her in and all. Then when he went back to his room he opened the window so the air could get in and then had layen down on his stomach on the bed so his wings could stretch out. Knowing it would be light in a few hours he took a deep breath. He was still trying to calm his spirit over the frenzy he had that afternoon. He figured he wasn't going to get any sleep so he looked at the ceiling tracing the cracks and textures with his eyes. Knowing he would be tired tomorrow he smiled to himself,"All the more reason to stay a night or so- I might leave her here-If she will let me..." After tracing a few cracks he was diffing off into a snooze. When he slept it was usually Inez who woke him up he hated waking up early.

Reid had stayed up most of the night just to make sure that Kiva would be ok, it was just something that he had always done for her and still felt that he had to even though she told him many times that he needed to get sleep. A small smile formed on his lips at the memories but soon drifted away with the commotion in the hallway. Reid slowly got to his feet and cracked the door to the room ever so slightly. He needed to check the area to make sure they were still safe.
When nothing alerted to immediate danger he closed the door and resumed his position on the floor. Kiva however was awake through most of the night. She drifted in and out of sleep because she was worried about Reid not sleeping. "How about you sleep now and I will watch over you?" Kiva sat up in bed and smirked at Reid. He turned over to look at her and she then giggled. "I don't think so. You need more sleep then I do besides I did sleep" "Sure you did Reid. But I'm not tired anymore so I'm going to go take a shower and maybe have a look at the town" She got to her feet and headed for the bathroom. Reid was already to his feet following her "Kiva, hear me out this time will you...there's something else going on in this town and it's not a good idea for you to go out alone"
She turned around to him when she had gotten into the bathroom "Tough. I'm a big girl I can handle myself and besides it is I who gives the orders not you" and with that she shut the door to enjoy a nice hot shower."Urge!" Reid groaned and stomped over to the chair and sat heavily rubbing his temples.

As the sun started to come up-So did Inez. She took a quick bath then fixed her hair and dressed properly. She wondered weather to wake Ralyn up or not but decided against it since he probably was awake all night like usual. The man never slept-thought he lied about it. Stepping out of her room she gently opened his door and put her note telling him she took some money and went out to the early markets that were going to start soon to get supplies and look for cute things. He usually let her take money when she liked since she liked his 'work'-he almost doted on her like a daughter.
The air outside was crisp-the air hold smells that were strange yet familiar to her. It had been a while since she had been out alone. Usually she hid behind Ralyn while he did all the talking and such then left, but today she let him sleep. He hated waking up early anyhow. Strolling around a few stalls she looked at a few food venders who were still setting up. She bought a pastry and began walking towards the item vendors she loved looking for little trinkets usually jewelry. She had picked up a set of gloves the last time she looked in the market and that's when Ralyn had bought them for her since he told her no but came back and bought them for her. When she saw a unique necklas that made her think of Ralyn she accidentally bumped into a person while she was looking at it. "Ohf-Oh sorry-I wasn't paying attention."

The town was lively during the day and every where that she looked there were things to stop and stare at. Kiva looked up to the sky and took a deep breath in, just being around people made her happy. As she moved her way down the venders she couldn't decided what she needed to get or rather what she want to get.
Kiva stopped at a jewelry vender and was trying to decided which of the pieces she wanted to purchase but before she could make a decision she felt herself becoming off balance. She looked around to see what had pushed her. "Oh no. Don't worry about it. Are you ok?" She turned to the girl and she froze. Kiva closed her eyes and took in the scent surrounding the girl, it was familiar.

She looked a the girl, she had lovely dark hair-unlike her pale hair. Pretty with a child-like face. She almost felt a twinge of jealousy but it lapsed when she remembered Ralyn and how he occasionally looked at her when she praised his work. Like a child-who had gained a mothers approval. When she started to actually look at it Ralyn had a child-like face as well-but she was pulled out of her thought when the girl closed her eyes and inhaled deeply. Inez mad a scrunched up confused face as she looked at that the girl now. "I'm fine- thanks-"After a few seconds of silence she turned back to the table trying not to be awkward. "Its pretty huh?" She said pointing to the necklace that reminded her of Ralyn- it was right up is alley too. It was rather long-probably would hang about mid waist-the long black leather cord was what was supporting a rather stiff Glass stone- inside was a very small yet very unique feather. The seller saw her interest and a rather large smile came over them. "Can I help you girl?" Inez smiled back at the man and nodded," What exactly is in that stone? Its so beautiful." The vender smiled," This is a rare feather- which makes it rather expensive. Thought it was a feather that I had found in a large cave in the far north-About a half a years travel north-long ways away. It was on fire in the cave- but it wasn't destroyed so i grabbed some bottle-which help some liquid stone and as soon as it touched the feather made this beautiful shape- I just added a holder." Inez the seller had just given his sales bit but she liked it-but If Ralyn didn't like it then she would have spent a large chunk of money for nothing. She stood there deliberating for a few minutes- unable to think about where she was but only what Ralyn would think about it.

She took a few more moments with the scent and then slowly opened her eyes. With out missing anything her eyes were looking down at the jewelry and knew which piece the girl was talking about. It was indeed a lovely piece but what interested Kiva was the feather. Kiva listened to the man's story of the necklace and had no doubt that it was a lie but a pleasant smile came across her face none the less.
Other then the feather she had no interest in the piece but turned her attention to the girl. She looked quite taken with the artful piece and Kiva wondered why. The sun was beginning to become high in the sky and Reid would soon be wondering where she was. She took a deep breath "It would look beautiful on you" she offered to the girl and then bowed her head slightly "You have a wonderful day and again I am sorry for bumping into you" Kiva then made her way down the rows of vendors once more. She would have to be quick so Reid wouldn't worry too much.

When she girl said it would look good on her she turned to look at her," Its not for me-but thanks. You too have a good day..."As the girl walked away she sighed, then returned her eyes to the jewelry. The vender was waiting for her answer. Looking it over a bit more she decided that it was a good idea. Those 3 words made the vendors' eyes go wide and his "I'll take it." mouth erupt in a large nasty smile. "Can you afford it?" She looked at him with narrow eyes ,"How much for it?" That didn't make the man's smile shrink," Seventy Gold pieces." That was expensive- but it was worth it. Reaching into her drawstring purse she rummaged till she found the sack of money and fished out Seventy pieces. Handing them to the man she picked up the necklaces and put it around her neck.
The man was too obsessed with the money that he didn't care. That would let him live like a king for almost a month. Walking back towards the hotel she ran face first into Ralyn just out side the hotel. HE didn't look too happy to see her out and about. "Ohf- So sorry-OH Ralyn! I got you something today."She said as she took the necklace off and put it around his neck-not really caring what he said about it. He pursed his lips but when his eyes fell on the feather his eyes and expression changed to curiosity. The feather was beautiful-like from an angel but not. Turning it over in his hands he smiled, "Thank you-I like it." That had made Inez's smile bright she loved it when he approved of something she did-kinda like he did when she approved.

After another hour at the market Kiva decided to head back to the Inn. She had gotten most of the things that they needed and she would need Reid to get the rest of it. As she walked back to the Inn she started humming a soft tune from her childhood but it was weird. It wasn't from her childhood with her foster parent's, it was much earlier then that.
As Kiva reached the Inn the bags almost slipped from her grip but she was able to get them to rest on her hip. Her plan was just to slip into the Inn and hurry to the room but she was frozen when she came to the doors of the Inn. Standing there was the girl from the market and a guy. Kiva was having a hard time taking her attention away from him, she drew in a breath. 'It's the scent that was on the girl' she thought to herself. Kiva closed her eyes taking in another breath trying to remember where she knew that scent from and why it felt important to her.
"Kiva!" Her eyes shot open and Reid was walking towards her "Are you alright?" He asked her as he took the bags from her "I...fine" she told him softly "Come, you look tired" She nodded her head and they started inside. "That scent" she mumbled under her breath "Hm?" Reid looked down at her but she seemed out of it.

As Ralyn looked down at Inez he smiled, but he was hearing something he remembered but not at the same time. A tune-but he looked up to find its source and it had stopped and he saw a girl, she looked at him a bit weirdly so taking Inez by the shoulder, he drug her back to the room. "Pack your things-we move out today before noon. Got it?" Inez nodded, knowing he felt uneasy about something which was why they left at specific times. She crossed the hallway and closed her door-gathering her things making sure to get all her belongings- knowing they would shop on the way out of town. It was about half an hour later when Ralyn had prepared the horses, checked out and was waiting on Inez. She was sitting in her room like she was supposed to till he came to fetch her. Last time she waited outside with him she had gotten into trouble with some rowdy young men who where drunk and Ralyn ended up killing them. She let a smile slip as she mused about how there was death following him every where- like he was drawn to it like a moth to a flame-Him being the flame-Death simply a moth trying to get close...too close.
A knock on the door broke her train of thought , Ralyn opened the door for her and lead her out side to the packed horses. "Are we heading North or South?" He looked at her a bit out of it but a smile come on his face as he remembered faintly the melody in his head- that tune made him clam like the rush from killing was quieted-asleep for the time, it made him want to smile. "South. We will hunt for a few days- too risky to shop any more." Nodding she followed him out of the East gate then they turned south- the markets just now getting busy since they were all open now and the produce farmers were setting up. Inez knew he would want to get some air later so she knew she would have a chance to eat and such when he returned with his hunt later when they got out in the wilds more. He never liked to be close to a town when he was flying- it made him nervous.

Reid escorted her in side and then sat her on the bed. He then began to go through the bags to see what she had gotten and how much they would be able to handle on their journey. Reid knew that Kiva loved to shop and sometimes over bought things that they then would have to sell later. "What were you saying out there?" Kiva was still in a daze but Reid's voice broke through just a little, the light came back to her eyes and she stared at him now. "That girl standing out front. I bumped into her in the market and she had this scent. It was like it...called to me. Something was reaching out to me...."
Kiva's eyes went distant again as she dipped into her thoughts trying to figure out what the scent was trying to tell her. "That man she was with...the scent was his...and it's like..." she couldn't put it into words. Reid was starting to get worried so he walked over to her and wrapped an arm around her shoulders. "Maybe we shouldn't stay here with them then. Maybe it's trying to tell you to run" He offered trying to help her work through it. But she just shook her head "no...it's not like that. It's like it was trying to pull me to him" she said quietly still trying to figure it out. "Alright well you just get some rest and I'm going to scout out the town to make sure that we won't run into any problems." She nodded her head lightly in agreement and laid on the bed. Reid looked at her one more time and then left the room.

((Its fine- I had no problem waiting till you felt up to posting. So don't worry- I'm just glad your back and still with us. )) Looking over her shoulder as they left town she sighed, knowing it was going to be a few days till she got to see a large crowd again. Looking back at Ralyn who was touching the necklace she had given to him made her feel better inside about being solitary with him. They rode a few miles and decided to stop a bit to stretch, she got up and began to stretch when Ralyn asked her a question. " Who did you run into in the market...was it a girl?" She looked at him for a moment ," Yeah, she was pretty- she helped me pick out the necklace. I saw her out side the hotel as well." nodding he didn't ask any more questions as they got back up and rode til it was about dark. "We can stop here for the night- a bit into the woods- off the trail." Nodding she got off her horse-leading it off the main trail, stopping where he put his horse. Ralyn was worried because the man he saw the girl with he saw again on the way out of town. He looked lie he could be a challenge. He wasn't the most ready to accept large challenges. Shaking his head he unpacked some things off his horse and layed out his sleeping roll and watched as Inez began to gather fire wood. He lite the fire sitting back then it did as to not singe his wings. He had taken off his jacket to stretch his wings. Inez watched as he stretched she loved his wings- how dark and majestic they were-she also loved hos they could go from soft to sharp as razors. She propped herself up close to his left wing around the fire and began to stroke the wings softly, his eyes closed hike a purring cat. They were sitting in silence for a little bit but then he began to hum a song- it sounded enchanting-simply beautiful with the melody. She listened till she fell asleep, he tucked her in and stayed up most of the night to keep watch.

The town was pretty peaceful and there weren't any serious dangers that Reid could see but he still didn't like the feel of the town. There was a dark energy here that just wanted to be left alone with it's people. Reid sighed, these people would soon be gone and there would be nothing he could do about it. Reid's charge was Kiva and nothing would make him waver from that task.
He made his way back to the Inn with a little bit of haste to his step. Reid didn't want to leave Kiva alone for too long plus he wanted to get out of this town as soon as possible. They got their rest and their supplies so it was about time they continued on their journey to find her brother. As much as Reid loved traveling he was beginning to miss his family.
Kiva slept soundly for a while but just as quickly as she had fallen asleep she woke up. Sitting up in the bed she looked around for the source that woke her but there was nothing in the room to cause alarm. "Weird" she spoke softly. Then her head shot to the window, a sound that was either faint or far away was calling to her. She rose from the bed and walked over to the window. She closed her eyes and listened.
Reid walked into the room as quietly as he could but stopped when he noticed Kiva at the window. He opened his mouth to tell her about what he felt in the town and that they needed to leave soon but she turned around sharply and he closed his mouth "We need to leave" and that was all it took for Reid to start packing up their things.

In the night he heard a few noises like horses passing by but he wasn't too sure. He thought he heard the rustle of wings but he wasn't sure either since he had a pair himself-it could have been his own. About dawn he left the camp, the fires coals glowing a pale red as they sat in its rock bed. Inez was still passed out so he decided to go for a quick stretch of the wings. Jumping off the ground hard he flapped a few times till he gained air then got above tree level and gliding on the gentle morning breeze he looked around, he caught a rabbit not far form camp- snapping its neck he dropped it at camp form the air- he was going to land but he saw something glimmering in the early morning light. It was interesting since trees didn't sparkle...
