Maria smiled at him lightly at his old pet name with her since she liked it still. At his words about Domonick being stubborn she nodded with a lite laugh since it was truly her brother. When he said she looked good she blushed a bit but didn't respond like she had. "Thanks, I try to show my face seldom since I'm around my brother a lot. Safety is a priority, besides I don't want to be bothered while I'm busy on things." She said before shooting Ava a 'get lost' look. She giggled and pranced from the room. "Behave now love birds!" She said easily before she left, getting a comment from Maria about her dress finding its self back in her closet. Maria looked back at Nate noticing he looked relaxed and easy going as ever, that was good. "Sorry about her, I'm sure you know how she is. Anyhow- umm what did you both find out?" She asked a little shyly at the end since it seemed she was covering up for being a little awkward. It was a known thing that both had something for the other before the war to there friends and family however- with the rebellion- it made things awkward. Her brother was pro Victoria while herself and his once best friend were against her. She was doing her best to keep both men in her life safe since she refused to choose between them.

The news that she avoided the place due to being close with he brother made him nod. "Right, right..." He said. That made sense. Her brother had no idea that she was helping the resistance and playing the part of a good sister to hide those intentions. She loved Dom, that was clear. But she couldn't keep putting herself in danger like that by spreading herself thin. Honestly, he would prefer to stay out of all of it. Victoria was around her brother constantly and he held a high officer position. It would only take someone that didn't like him or a nosey cabinet member to look into his family and history to find her. A little close snooping could wind her up in trouble and in harms way. He knew Domonick would protect her and Nate was doing what he could to help her, but Victoria wouldn't hesitate to use Maria to send a message. But he knew she inherited the family gene for stubbornness and wouldn't accept him saying no to her. When she looked to Ava, he got himself together, running a hand through his hair that he worried was sticking up in a funny way. He always worried he sounded dumb around her or looked like he was hardly put together. When Ava made the comment, his face tinged a bit of pink though he calmed it by just looking at Maria. He missed seeing her like this, being able to talk to her without the war being crammed down their throats or having Dom watching them like hawks. He had never exactly approved of his friend liking his sister, even if he wasn't that much older than her and held no ill intentions for her. Nathan only just turned 24 and he was never much of a skirt chaser. Though he dated, he always found himself wrapped around her finger...He understood that her brother didn't want him involved in more war than she needed to be and that he didn't trust anyone but himself with Maria. It came with the territory of being the only one caring for her for a very long time. When she spoke about Ava's behavior, he gave a shake of his head. "Yeah, she's something, but you don't have to apologize." He said though didn't finish his thoughts. Ava was really only saying what he was thinking, but didn't have the guts to risk and say. He hardly ever wanted to make her uncomfortable or to lose the odd balance of friendship they maintained. He couldn't lose her too after losing Dom...She softly changed the subject, he gave her a small shrug. "Ah well, I got to learn more about Ava's little recon missions than I ever wanted to know. She reminds me of how dumb I could be with a little liquor and a pretty face. And also that your brother has a meeting tomorrow morning with Victoria's security team. I-I don't know if he told you what it's about but it seems to be just a small briefing. Like we used to go to when we were back in boot camp. Oh and Ava is doing more recon tomorrow. Hopefully she finds something useful. Have you had any new information come in on your end?" He asked to hear her talk more, It had been a while since he heard from her.
((This song is basically what I've always thought is them ))

She gave him a nod a this words on how Ava worked. Girl was a miracle worker however she wasn't limited to just her words she used her body for the cause- no cost was too great to her- she was completely devoted. "Yeah I get to hear how gross it is after she comes home, last time a little black and blue but alright. Dom usually threatens to kill whom ever it is but she wasn't tell anyone. So- make sure you tell her to keep it to a minimum this time if she will listen to you." She commented before giving a sigh but letting things go. Maria already knew the man's wife beat her but it was to be expected when they find a weird whore in their bed. At the news of the meeting with the security team she nodded. "Yeah, he had a voice mail on his phone about it. Its over nothing major. Just checking up on things making sure all the code names change and passwords are updated. I'll get a copy when I'm able." She added on the end since that was her part in most things- being the mole. She sighed again before taking a seat and relaxing, patting the seat next to her for him to sit as well. Her shirt was loose on her small frame, allowing it to slip on her shoulder a little but it wasn't anything revealing so she left it. When he took a seat she gave him a soft smile. "So how have you been holding up? I haven't heard from you in a while. We used to e-mail remember?" She said with a shy like smile as she remembered their little flirty e-mails they used to send to keep her brother from finding out most things.

Maria asked him to talk to Ava about it and of course he agreed. He would at least speak to the girl about staying safe, especially when it came to her getting in trouble with other people's wives. They all wanted to see Ava come out of this all alive and well. The woman deserved that after everything she put in to stop Victoria. He kind of tuned out the bit about work related stuff since he was honestly starting to get tired of hearing it. More codes and more passwords to root through and give Gabriella, his roommate to put in their systems. At least it gave him an excuse to spend more time with Maria however. "I've been good. It's been a lot of training and trying to keep up with things around here. Also I've been adulting a bit more to put some food on the shelf. Getting a little tired of Top Ramen and toast." He said with a smile, knowing that he sucked at cooking and Gabby was the only reason he even ate things that were edible anymore. "Gabby and I have the new walls up on our computers so maybe we can talk a bit more than we have. I'm sorry I dropped off from that. Things just got busy, you know?" He said since the reason he stopped was out of the craziness of her brother nearly dying and the war starting. They both got busy and got shoved into a weird place that made talking more difficult. "Also you never know what Victoria's people have their noses in after all." He said since he was supposed to be dead at this point and Victoria had an initiative out for paying people to turn in deserters. She believed them to be a part of the resistance and bad for morale. Victoria's people had files and DNA documentation on all enlisted soldiers, as was customary from her father's regime. It made it harder to desert the military when you risked being found immediately. Luckily she had more on her plate to deal with than hunting down deserters...He was about to say more when his stomach gave an audible growl, reminding him he hadn't eaten that day from being busy working on everything for recon and training new recruits. He gave a sheepish look before he got an idea. Maybe she wouldn't go for it, but he wanted an excuse to get out of there, maybe where it wasn't so awkward to talk? "Well almost adulting. I forgot to grab something before I met up with Ava. I saw this new chinese place near here I was thinking of trying, would you wanna come with? Well I mean it is kinda late--And this sin't the best side of town--you've probably already eaten--so then maybe something sweet? Oh wait you don't like sweet stuff." He felt he was talking himself into a hole so he stopped, giving a half laugh at himself. "Sorry, I think these 24 hour days here have made me shit at having normal conversations. I would like to take you out, you know, to have a chance to not have someone from here drag us back into more work..and I may be skipping out on having to help clean and organize the tactical gear that Rodger brought in from the old army storage. Unless of course you had something you needed to do here?" He said, since it would take hours and he was already running on minimal sleep.

At his joke of broke food she laughed, putting a hand over her lips to hide it a bit but it was obvious since he could hear. When he went into his room mate and such about things she tuned out a slight but until he apologized for dropping off the map. "Oh no I understand it. We were both busy. Had to adult." She said with a smirk using his turn she hadn't heard in a while back to him. "She can put her nose in my brother's business but not mine. I would wish she choked to death but that would make my brother upset." She said in a rude way since she hated this- being in an odd place between the war but she was doing as she needed to ensure her men stayed alive. There was a small pause when his stomach gave a loud growl, making her giggle. At his rambling she waited till he finished talking before giving him a nod. "I would love to. I'm even tempted to help clean the guns and gear if you need the help. I'm sure I can be mistaken for a recruit any how. Only four people here know my face." She said before standing up, and grabbing his arm to pull him up out of the chair faster. She was all smiles now since she got to spend time with Domonick and Nate in one day- that was a rare thing now a days and shew as going to relish in it- even if she ahd to clean gear.

At her response of it being okay, he felt like it really wasn't. He felt awful ignoring her, but he felt it was safer for her in a way...he was stupid, yes, but he would give anything to protect her. He frowned when she said she wanted Victoria to choke, knowing that she was stuck when it came to her brother's obsession. He never understood it either, but the heart wanted what it wanted. Dom was crazy about the evil woman...He gave a noise of agreement since it wasn't his area to really talk in. He would see to Victoria's death regardless of what Dom wanted. They all deserved to have a happy life, one that Victoria would never allow them to have... He let those thoughts fade when she smiled at his offer and actually said yes. He actually had been worried she would say no, since she must have been there that late for a reason. That instilled a new found confidence in him, enough so that he was able to smile when she mentioned staying to help him clean the armory. "Tempted huh? Well I'm sure I could find a way to convince you." He said with a smirk, before he walked with her to the door. When they made it out the door, he actually checked the corners to make sure that Rodger wasn't still stalking around looking for him. He gave her a show of his finger over his lips before moving with her to one of the side exits. Before they came around the corner, he caught sight of Rodger barking at a recruit about finding Nathaniel before he shirked his job off. He quickly caught a still walking Maria by the waist, pulling her close to keep her with him and out of sight of the recruit that raced by. He checked the corner and saw he was gone before releasing his hold on Maria. He took her hand lightly and pulled her along through the door. When they cleared the checkpoint and got outside, he quickly let go of her hand and ran it through his hair to cover up his awkward energy. "That was close. The man is like a dog over that damn ledger. He'd make me live in that storage room if he could.." He said in a bit of a laugh before he gave a her a smile. "Kinda reminds me of us trying to get out past curfew with the others as kids. Well, when agent Dom was still up for fun." He said since the city once enforced curfews on the teens and young to be sure crime stayed at an all time low. It was a minor offense, but it was still a slap on the wrist and a knock on the door that you didn't want your parents finding out about. Nate's grandparents were sticklers for the chancellors rules, especially because his mother had been similarly rebellious. They blamed her rebellion on the fact that she fell into drug use and had him in the first place.

She laughed quietly as he was acting like they were sneaking out as kids. It was funny to her since she was able to leave when ever she wanted- not many knew her not to mention she had top access to all the doors- she thought Nate had that as well. She quieted her laughter when she put a finger to his lips. Her eyes however stayed there looking at how, well soft they looked, even a little chapped perhaps from dehydration from working all day but still soft and a light pink in a healthy show. She was alright with her mind wandering however she was walking to the side exit when she felt arms about her middle instantly and she was pulled back against Nate's frame. she didn't move since she was a little surprised he actually did something like that. The man was usually too worried about something to do much of anything. When he released her waist he captured her hand and pulled her out side. Her attention was on his hand still though,on how big it was, and warm...When he let go she felt the loss of heat and comfort really that he was there for her, but she didn't let it show. At his joke she giggled," Oh I remember, my brother had to throw me over a fence once and you ended up dropping me." She said remembering an embarrassing moment for both of them. She moved a little closer to his side and took his arm and gave him a bright smile. "Lets go- I'm always game for some food!" She said since she was a hollow log occasionally.

When Maria added the bit about dropping her, his face turned a bit red and he chuckled a bit nervously. "Ah yeah. In my defense I tripped. You know the usual." He said since his foot had caught a board near the fence and he nearly face planted when he caught her. He wasn't exactly the most coordinated of people, hence why he was constantly bruised up as a kid. When she took his arm, he felt her warmth on him, her hands soft and small in comparison. Her smile combined with it all made a heat rush to his chest, causing his heart beat to race a little. He was stuck for a second, feeling a bit dumbfounded at how cute she could actually be. It was going to be hard getting used to it again after a while apart. At her urging him on for food, he gave a nod and a smile. "Right food. It's just around here." He said as he walked with her to the small shop on the street corner. It was a little busy due to it being open this late, but it seemed like people were enjoying the cheap food and an excuse to eat something awful for you so late. He didn't mind really since he knew that by tomorrow he would have gotten rid of any sign of it from more work with the troops. "Get whatever you want. I've got it, as a bribe of course to keep you around." He ordered the first thing he saw, some sort of chicken that sounded sweet. The man behind the counter thanked them for their business after she ordered, saying that they would bring it out when it was done. He sank into one of the chairs, grabbing a coffee to help keep him up for the rest of the night's events. "So what else have you been up to? Anything new beyond work?" He asked since they couldn't really talk about 'work'. And who wanted to anymore?

The shop was small and busy but that was fine with her, she noticed Nate ordered the first thing he saw- as usual. She asked for some thing simple like ramen since well it was warm and good. At his joke about bribing her she smirked. "You know I'm a sucker for food bribes." She said with a joking tone since as a young child Domonick would bribe her with food often. She followed him to the chairs he ahd picked and took a seat with her soda. It was a little flat in flavor but it had the bubbles she wanted. She did glance up at him when he took a small sip of the coffee, wondering how much 'Adulting' he ahd been up to recently to look a little sleepy. At his question she nodded. "Well, I've been working on homework- college stuff. Oh and Dom has been saying for months he will take me to the officers club to look around at a party or so. I'm not sure I want to go but eh- it could come in handy later. Ugh that reminds me- He has been asking me about when I was going to grow up and get a proper boyfriend." She said taking a drink of her soda as if it were a beer, clinging a little at the bubbles. "Him of all people- mom preaching. I swear." She teased since it was true. Her brother used to scare everyone off to 'protect' her but little did he know she could protect her self, not that he minded. "That and I found a cool station to listen to- its an older one but its cool." She added on the side since she rambled often enough when nervous but Nate had asked her. "Besides school work, and a small social life, and my brother nothing is new really with me. How about you? Coffee this late at night? Come one your only 24. Might start calling you an old man." She teased him with a slight tap on his leg with her own since she wasn't going to hit him with an arm when he was holding hot coffee.

Nate was content just listening to her talk, especially when she mentioned an officers club. He remembered those, they were fun but of course it was mostly a social event for the wives and girlfriends as well. That would be an interesting party to find her at, though it would be hard for the other men not to notice her. Not only was she beautiful but she was a higher ups sister. There was good money and bargaining in that for those looking to climb the ranks. He didn't like the idea, but wouldn't stop her from having fun. She deserved to get out and experience the parties she could. Besides, Maria could take care of herself, had been for a very long time after her brother went to war. So he kept his mouth shut, instead almost choking on his coffee when she mentioned Dom telling her to grow up and get a boyfriend. He coughed a bit, apologizing briefly and making up something about trying to laugh and drink about her mom comment. Yes, Dom was like a parent to her, but that didn't make it less hard for the man. Sure, she could use some relationship outside of Dom and her friend group, but...Well he just refused to think on it for now, since it was none of his business... When she asked about the coffee, he gave the cup a funny look as if there was something wrong with it. Her touch to his leg made him smile, since it was a slight contact that felt nice from her. "Old man, jeesh, and here I thought this made me look hip with the cool kids." He joked, flashing her a humored smile before he huffed. "The coffee is just to help me stay up a bit later. I'm running on a bit of sleep, but not enough. It's been a rough couple of day dealing with reprocussions after the--well you were there." He said before he leaned back in his chair. "Nothin new really. I've been learning a bit more about mechs from Nina. I might get to try one out if we can get it moving. Um, I started sketching again. It's nothing major, just a few things here and there that I find interesting...And uh--let's see--this girl from the apartment above mine did stop by to say there would be a party this weekend. I don't think I want to corner myself in a room full of strangers though. She's kinda weird too-- laughs too much." He said since the girl was constantly giggling and touching his arm, blinking a lot too. He wasn't sure why since he hardly spoke to her. He never was much for being cornered in elevators or forced to make small talk in a hallway. He gave a shrug and moved on to talk with her a bit more. "Oh you found some more music? We could give it a listen later. And damn more school huh? What were you going out for again?" He said since he knew she loved her music and liked to keep up with it. He liked her taste in music, though he didn't really listen to it much himself. He was always busy doing something and couldn't really focus long enough to sit still and listen. He was the type that liked to be up and doing something, especially now that he really didn't have time for much relaxation. That and school for her. She had always been the smart one of their friend group, who would have done fine even without schools. She often used big words that made no sense to him or occasionally threw out these insightful explenations to things that he wouldn't have thought of. It was admirable...

When he choked on his coffee she giggled since it was funny to watch him trip up. His words afterwards were cute, the smile a nice addition. She didn't know why her brother never approved of Nate for her- he was a good guy, dedicated, never really slept around, always came running if she called. As he went on to say why the coffee was needed she simply nodded since she understood that since she had been caught sleeping at the hospital by Domonick several times before being sent home to bed. As he rambled on she looked humored getting an idea about his sketching and the mechs together, but sins't voice it quite yet since he began talking about a girl in the apartment over him- obviously flirting and being the stupid type. "If you wnat I can go to the party with you? I'm sure if you walk in with both me and Ava they will get the point." She commented since it would get the point to the girl. It was a girl territory thing- she couldn't claim Nate she knew this but she would be damned if were were going to share him with a twittery idiot. "Maybe you could sketch up a mech and we could build it with parts? As you don't remember I was going out for a job as a Network and Computer System Administrator, aka I'm almost a certified electrical engineering with a second major in information and computer sciences. Talk about getting paid more then my brother one day." She said with a giggle since she enjoyed being smart. Her father had been and engineer and she wanted to be like him but it seemed he wasn't going to be there to see if finally happen, well he hadn't been for years but- it was the thought that counted. "Anyhow, I'm sure I can help out with things on the mech as well if you wnat some help in the shop later maybe? I don't mind getting some grease under my nails." She joked however the food was out in a moment after that making her smile. "It looks good thank you Nate for taking me out." She said with a soft smile since her mind was in a little dark place over her parents at the moment. It wasn't something her and Dom ever talked about since she was so young when they passed.

Nate just wanted her to know about the woman in his apartment since he thoughts she was the girlfriend of an officer and he wasn't exactly the best when dealing with awkward social situations. He didn't even really notice that she was flirting with him, since he really was more on the quiet side when it came to people he didn't know. His friend group really only extended to a few people that took the time to get to know him, each of them bringing a different part of him out. He cared for them all though and would trust them with his life with no questions asked. When Maria stated tat she could help get the message across to the girl, he gave a bit of thoughtful look. "Well an excuse to have you and Ava around some more would be nice. I'll message you if I do decide to even consider it. I thought she was dating an officer of Victoria's police but I guess not any more." He said, mostly thinking aloud for her to know his thought process on the whole matter. When she mentioned building something together, his head tilted some. She seemed to think any of his design choices were a good idea, even if he wasn't quite sure how to go about doing anything with her. He wasn't stupid, but he also wasn't amazing at math and sciences. He also never finished schooling since he decided to join the military instead. It seemed the better fit for him any ways, since he never did too hot with his studies. However when she talked about her major and called him out on not remembering, he gave a sheepish look. "To be honest it's the name that always had me a bit confused. You know I'm not exactly good with the whole science and computer thing." He said before giving her a softer smile at her talks of doing better than Dom one day. She had always talked about working in the field as a kid, especially after the whole thing with her parents went down...He always knew she could do whatever she wanted. She had a gift for her studies and was an intelligent girl all around. When the food came, he turned his attention to the food. He found it was sweet, but there was a kick to it that he knew he would regret. At least the coffee took some of the burn off. "You really are brilliant M. I'm glad your going after what you want. You deserve it." He said before his face lit up some at the idea of them working together on something. Nina had the space for it and he was sure she wouldn't care...she knew about his crush on Maria and had always been the one to urge him to do something about it. She would totally go for anythignt that let the two at least keep talking. "That sounds like a lot of fun actually. We could definitely get together and figure it out. Though won't Dom be on edge with you being gone? I also wouldn't want to cut into your school stuff." He said since she had been just as busy and he didn't want her wasting what little time she had to herself with him...

At his words about possible messaging her over the party she nodded before slurping some noodles since she liked them warm- not cold. She chewed a little before pausing to take a drink of her flat soda. When he praised her on being smart she nodded with a cocky smirk, she knew it and so did everyone else who knew her. When he went into his worry mode over her she did her best not to laugh at him, by biting her lip. "My school is on break before finals- I'm already prepared for the finals. So I don't need to study, I even have my final project finished and my thesis. As for the brother well we both know he lives at his job so I won't be missed as long as I call him once a day and tell him that I'm fine he won't blow a gasket." She said honestly since he worried over her too much at times. "If you want you can work on sketches and I can help you with the more technical stuff? I'm sure between Mr Artsy- Craftsy and myself we can make something." She teased since she knew he wasn't the smartest but it didn't take away from his character to her. He was strong and brave and smart in what he needed to survive, the rest he could rely on her for.

Maria was quick to correct him about how her busy schedule was curbed lately. He was glad to hear she was free to spend more time to spend with them, such that they could have a chance at talking again. He wasn't surprised to hear she was ahead on school work or that he brother was a workaholic. That hadn't changed over the time they had been around each other. It was her insistence on having time to spend with him that he was surprised by. They hadn't seen much of each other and now they actually had time to see each other. He just hoped that he was still able to be close with her, that they still got along after not really talking much. When she called him artsy crafty, he laughed at the idea since he could imagine what that must look like. "You make it sound like we're building bird houses or macaroni art." He chuckled before he gave a nod. "Alright let's do it then. But regardless of actually building things--I'm really glad to see you. I've missed you guys and getting to just hang out." He said before taking another bite of food before he made a fool of himself and said something he shouldn't.

At the idea of Macaroni art she giggled, putting her fork down to save herself from dropping it. She ate more of her food as she took his words into consideration better to get all the meanings not wanting to take things out of context here. "I am glad your still your old self. With all the mess- I've had to change a small bit but its nice to get to relax with some one I grew up knowing." She said with a soft look however her phone started going crazy in her pocket making her go for it. Pulling it from her pocket she frowned but answered it. "Whats up?" she asked in a humored tone, thought the look on her face said other wise. "Where the hell are you?! Ava said you were out on a date when I called the house!" Domonick went off on her making her actually smirk after a second. "Its fine, I'm just out eating food. I didn't feel like cooking. Weren't you supposed to be having tests done tonight?" She asked in as a counter to change the subject. "I'm about to but I insisted I call you first-" He began however Maria cut him off. "Domonick I'm fine. I'm out eating food with an old friend. Its nothing bad and no you ca't talk to them about something stupid. Have a good night and have fun tomorrow. Love you- Nighty night." She said before she closed her phone, ending the call with a sigh. -- Domonick frowned as the line cut. She was so strong willed lately but that was his little sister, smart as she was stubborn. He had some hardware and software tests to have run so he relinquished his phone and let them begin since he was actually excited to see the old friends- the old way things worked, Victoria even.
