When she said she was glad to be spending time with someone she knew, he gave her a softer smile, nodding in agreement. It was nice seeing someone again that you cared about, that you had some attachment to that didn't revolve around all the changes happening in their world. She was one thing in his world that remained safe and constant...that was a good feeling. When she went for her phone, he assumed it was Ava so he kept eating. However the incomprehensible shouting echoing from the line and her expression gave away her displeasure. Was that Dom? She clarified where she was with him, making him wonder why he was so angry. Was he back home and looking for her? I thought she said he would be released tomorrow and he was running tests tonight...He got a bit worried a moment that Domonick would actually be angry with Maria over this and wondered if he should walk her home. He was going to make sure she got home safely, but he didn't want her to be in trouble for being out this late with him either. He knew Dom worried about her, for good reason after the war drew out the craziness in the city. Her blatantly telling him that she was out with an old friend and that Domonick couldn't talk to him made Nate blink, never imagining getting the talk from Domonick. That sounded horrifying... she hung up on him not a moment later, leaving Nate to clear his throat some. "So, I take it Dom is not having a good time with testing? Also, I know Dom is a kind guy...but a talk from him sounds terrifying. Best of luck to any man you bring home." He said since he could imagine the guy feeling like Domonick would hunt him down and kill him if he hurt her. As he should, but Dom also was very intimidating when he wanted to be. He saw it on the war front and wouldn't want to be on the receiving end of his anger or scrutiny...

((little does poor Nate know....lol)) "Hes being a big baby. Trying to control me and he knows damn good and well I will do what I want." She stated easily but smiled when Nate said best of luck to whom ever she brought home. "Well I'm just glad we are all already friends huh." She joked before going back to her food, wondering how he would take her words but figured he wouldn't make a big show of them since he never pushed too far with things, always at her pace. They soon finished eating and Nate paid, thought she insisted to pay half. They headed back to the base easily, slipping in via the dark alley way with a flickering light in it. In the main area, it was quiet since it was late but she stretched her arms over her head, trying to help her food digest faster. "Alright, lead the way to where we are working tonight. With my help you should have this done much faster." She said calling him slow since he was often meticulous where shew as efficient.

At her comment about doing what she wanted, he gave her a smirk. Yeah, she was just as stubborn alright. He was starting to clean up a little when she made the comment about him being lucky they were friends. He wasn't sure how to take that, so he turned a bit pink and nodded with a small laugh. "Uh yeah, maybe that would give me brownie points." He said before helping to clean off the table. He paid and went with her back to the headquarters where most people that still milled about stayed there or were a part of the guard detail. He motioned her along until they reached the storage room that wasn't massive but still had boxes upon crates of new gear and guns. At her comment of getting things done faster, he smirked. "Really? Here I thought I'd be a bit more distracted." He said, meaning it as talking to her a lot more but he saw another side that it could be misconstrued as, by being distracted by her just being there. He quickly turned to a box nearby to open it, his face turning red as he tried to hide it by unpacking. "But I could really use the help. The recruits are so new that it gets hard sometimes to direct all of them. That and I know you wont injure yourself by being dumb." He said, remembering a guy shot himself in the foot once when trying to show off with a pistol.

Maria followed along and into a smaller store room, finding boxes and crates of new things they had gotten recently. She looked about but her cheeks turned a bit pink on his comment. When he turned and started going threw a box she smiles since she saw the red on his face. "I can understand that. When Ava brought a new recruit out with us, a bit ago, he sat all awkward and weird. It was rather funny, he called me 'mam'." She giggled at the idea of some one calling her that. She grabbed a crow bar and pried open a crate finding it had body armor in it. She unloaded it into a pile, then began checking it over. She called over a recruit, and told him exactly were to put the plates. He took a few and scurried off into the back of the room. "Okay one crate down, thirty to go. Hows it going with the boxes of amunitions?" She asked him as she glanced over her shoulder to him wondering if he needed help.

Nate smiled a bit at the mention of calling her mam, though he was glad the boy remembered his manners. While she worked with armor, he was handing off rounds and boxes of rounds to a recruit or two that swung by, having them organize them onto nearby shelving units. He had to correct a pair once or twice about nearly placing exploding rounds next to the gun powder. He pinched the bridge of his nose, trying to keep his usual even kilter. He could be hard on them when he needed to be, but when it was just because of a lack of knowledge he was usually more understanding. Also, he wanted to put on a good face for Maria. He had started on a new box when Maria spoke, looking over his shoulder at her. "Yeah it's all good on my end. If the volunteers don't blow us up we'll have it all done soon." He said before he motioned over to her to help him move a box over a bit. "Hey help me shift this over near the door, I think this was meant to go back to the other encampment to the north." He said, grabbing one end so that they could move it.

She moved to help him move the box, having put on a pair of gloves first however since she didn't want her hands messed up. Crouching with him- she hoisted the box and they moved it to the door, thankfully it wasn't too far and it wasn't too heavy- at least with Nate helping it wasn't. She gave his shoulder a pat when they put the box down and gave a small breathy laugh. "I'm getting out of shape." She said with a smirk since she always had a problem with brawn when she was a brain. When some one gave a suprised sound, her head moved to look at whom it was at the door- finding some one she would rather have avoided. "Well look what we have here- the two faced Saboteur." The man said clearly and loudly for the room, making things pause for a moment as Maria glared at the man. "Joseph. What a miserable occurrence that you are still breathing." She stated in a very flat tone looking annoyed. "Shouldn't you be babying your Chancellor loving trader of a brother?" He asked with a laugh. maria stiffened in anger however she put on a smile and moved closer to Joseph. "He is fine, thanks for asking. Keep your shit up and I will perhaps throw your name out to my brother. then we shall see how much of a ass whole to me you will be." She stated drying clearly threatening the man. He wasn't a general- there were four of them and he was under them in rank. There was a silence however Joseph looked very unhappy for her to be there. "I'm guessing she is here with you?" He turned his question- though more polite to Nate since he had issue with Nate.

Nate gave Maria a laugh at her comment about being out of shape, since she looked fine honestly. She was just never made do much since her brother babied her so. Not that she should have to. He was about to make a small joke about her always having time to come train with the recruits, but was cut off by someone making a snarky statement in her direction. Nathan was always a very even kilter person, due to his usual wish to be good to others. But, one quick way to really flip his switch was to mess with someone he cared about. He knew those that knew Maria's situation were leery of her, that some even felt she would betray them. Nate knew better and so did Nina and Ava. Maria was loyal to them, but she reserved care toward her brother. Who wouldn't still love their siblings unconditionally? He never had a problem with Joseph, but he hated the idea of someone being blatantly rude to her. Maria threatened to turn the man in, something he wasn't on board with but he felt that she could handle things as she saw fit. It was her battle after all. When Joseph asked him an obvious question, Nate gave him a nod, his expression a bit tighter than before. "Actually yeah, she volunteered to help sort this new shipment we got from our latest raid so our men have gear to use out on the front. You here to do the same? We could use more help." He said, more or less calling him out for having time to run his mouth and not helping like Maria was. "Joe, I'd like you to keep your opinions of our generals to yourself, especially in front of the recruits. It makes for dishonesty in the ranks that I won't tolerate. Got that?" Though he felt an irritation forming in his mind and his hand flex at his side, he was not being disrespectful with his words but firm, as was his way of usually handling things. He liked to talk and then solve things with force if necessary. It was one of the main deviations he had from Victoria. He then gave the man a more serious look, one that actually made a recruit raise a brow since they hadn't seen Nate actually anything close to angry before. While this wasn't blatantly an angry expression, there were hints of it in his tone. " Maria's given blood and time for this cause that has protected us countless times. Remember that the when the important intel and insider knowledge she brings in saves our asses out there." He said, feeling that he handled it since he made it clear he didn't agree and that he wasn't going to put up with him disrespecting her in front of him. That was the talking phase of what he felt should have handled it was done. If he kept on and actually said something to upset her, he was going to regret it. Nate didn't enter the ranks of the special service to the chancellor's military by just being a grunt that threw heavy blows. They were taught to hit where it counted and where it hurt to debilitate your enemy the quickest when on mission where they were not supposed to be seen or heard. He could once go toe to toe with Domonick of all people, but of course now with the metal Dom could kick his ass quite quickly...

Joseph shook his head. "I just got back from some recon. I was going to file my report. I don't have time to mess with a recruits job." he mentioned seemingly unbothered by much- even after his original words to Maria. At the harsher words about keeping his opinions to himself in front of everyone he nodded to Nate since he liked him well enough but now he would be keeping an eye on him for corruption. He didn't comment on his later words on the Intel since many people gathered Intel. "If you will excuse me- I have a few reports to file." he said before leaving the room and moving back to the more office like area to start his report. Maria waited till he left to growl a little in her anger but didn't speak yet. After a second she smiled at Nate to cover her anger- she was too good at covering how she felt. Domonick often attributed it to her trying to be strong as a child when their parents were killed but she honestly liked being able to lie with her body language. "I do wish he would get shot." She said with a sigh thought the smile shifted into a more honest expression since she was close with Nathaniel. "Sorry, I should have brought that rivalry here and in front of the recruits." She apologized but shrugged after a second and went back to her sorting since it was the original reason she came was to help with that.

Of course Joseph had somewhere better to be that wasn't doing a recruits job. As it was tedious work, it was still necessary to make sure they were well stocked and prepared for their missions. He waved the man off when he left, however his eyes went to Maria. He saw she looked briefly angry, her lips pulled in a snarl that was meant for the man. He understood her anger and her wish for him to takee a bullet. But sadly they even needed Joe in their current state of low recruiting. He watched her body language change very quickly, as though nothing had gone on before. It confused him some, especially since he was sure she had been angry before. He wondered why she felt she had to hide her emotions around him, but figured it was because she didn't like any one really getting a read on her. She was even good at pretending around her brother. He didn't want her to feel she had to around him, but that was a conversation for a later time. For now he was just glad that this hadn't completely messed with her and that she was okay for the most part. "Don't be. He knows better than to say that to his superior and I make sure our men know that." He gave the three young recruits in the room a look and each nodded, looking quick to respond since they were not about to challenge that and didn't even really know Maria or why Joseph had ish with her. "Hell it's just manners in general. If he bothers you again let me know..." He said before going over to a nearby box to help start cleaning it out. When they were finally done it was late, later than he intended to keep her but she had refused to leave earlier when he asked her. With the job done, he gave his forehead a quick wipe with the back of his head, smudging it with a bit of the soot from all the boxes without his knowledge really. "Thanks again for stickign around. Now I can actually head back for a bit...maybe get a nap in." He said before he gave her a small smile. "I want to make sure you get home okay. Mind if I help you back? At least get a good taxi for you?" He asked since they were in a seedy part of town and there was a way that she could get in trouble on her own.

When he told her to tell him if she had problems she gave a small chuckle at that idea. "I'm 20 now Nate, I'm not a little girl any more. I can handle my own issues. I'm not a general for no reason." she said easily before letting him go to another pat of the room to get some much needed work done. After a lot of diligent work they were finally finished however it was very late at this point. When he wiped his forehead she put a hand over her mouth to keep from laughing too loudly. He was like a child often with things but she found that adorable about him- god she missed him being around- she was sure her brother missed him too. "Sure, You can walk me most of the way home. Only if you wipe the mess off your face, you seem to have gotten some soot on it." She giggled before she used her own sleeve to wipe it off for him since she figured he wouldn't have known.

Maria's response of course was that she could take care of herself. While that was true, she was still worth defending over people threatening to harm her. He would leave her be on the topic since she already said she was fine. But he wouldn't put up with Joseph or any of the others starting things around him. When they finally were done, he expected her to almost say no, that she could take care of herself. Instead, she started to giggle, as though something was funny to her. He was briefly embarrassed, wondering if there was something dumb that he said or did. When he instead found out that he had soot on his face, he frowned as he struggled to clean it off. When she approached, getting close to clean it off his head, he blushed some and looked down. "Ah thanks. Yeah that would be kinda embarrassing to walk around with that mess." He said, wishing he could face palm since he felt briefly like a mess around her. He walked out with her, keeping his hands in his pockets. He walked a bit closer to her, looking to her with a small smile. "Thanks again for helping out. You should stop by some time again, maybe there wont be so much work to do." He said before he thought a moment on that. Would it be a while again before he saw her? He figured not, but things always seemed to change like the wind lately. They were technically at war after all.

At his offer to stop by again she smirked at him. "I don't know, between school and my brother Its usually easier to have Ava come in for me. Besides I always write my daily reports for the file on Dom." She said in a softer tone since he was walking closer to her. She didn't mind in the slightest but it was nice. "Maybe we can grab food another time? Maybe some coffee?" She asked secondly more to tease him but it was an honest thought since she did like spending time with him. She pulled out her phone and pulled up a new screen for a number. "Here, so I can text you when I am able to come in." She said with a friendly and open smile since she was trying to convince him to give up his number. She was clever, and was trying to be sly about it hoping he wouldn't catch her in this until after she left.

When she gave an unsure reply about that, his face fell a little since he thought that this was her saying things just wouldn't work out to really see much of her. He knew she had other obligations, but that didn't take away from the fact that he liked being around her. "Ah right." He said, giving her a smile that didn't give away his disappointment he hoped. When she made a second offer, his brows rose in some surprise. Seems she had a better idea to see more of her perhaps? He tried to play it cool, to not look like an excited puppy over the idea of getting to take her out. "That sounds great." He said though he paused to think a moment when she handed him her phone. He knew better, that giving her his number could end poorly if her phone ever ended up in someone's hands that wanted to find him. He knew the probability of that was low, but could he really risk it? Sadly he was a sucker for that smile and the fact he knew she wasn't up to anything devious. Maybe she just wanted his number to actually say when she was able to come in...not that it would be bad if she wanted it for other reasons either...."Um sure. I don't see why not." He said before typing in his number, but before he then gave her a teasingly serious look. "Guard it with your life yeah? I can't have it getting around else I'll never get any rest from all the calls and messages from the base." He said since they already pestered the hell out of him from his disposable connected to them. That was his personal number, the one that he kept on him in case of emergencies and only a select few people knew.

When he teased over guarding his number with her life she smirked. Crossing her heart she made a scouts honor sign more to tease him but it made the point. She took her phone back and typed in a name before saving it with a smile. 'Cute guy from Creative Design class', she wasn't lying so if her brother ever saw it, it was self explanatory. She flagged a taxi quickly giving him a small touch on the arm in thanks for the evening. "I'll text you later. Be safe getting home, and for gods sake- get some sleep old man." She teased before getting int he taxi and leaving. Once home she shot him a text saying she was home and Ava didn't die because her dress was back in her closet. It was more so he knew exactly whom was texting him and the context should have been enough. She easily got into bed however her phone was ringing off the hook when she woke up- rather early sadly by her brother who was at work. ---- "Hey! Ava called me and told me you got home late. Glad you had fun going out for food. Anyhow I was wondering if you wanted to come in today for lunch with me? You remember which building I'm located in right?" He asked trying to get to see that his little sister was in perfect condition after this 'date'. Maria gave a sigh but nodded, not that he could see. "Yeah- it was fun. I remember- I'll be in around 11:30 ish. So I can clear security." She said getting a small laugh from him. "Just flash your name card- they know your my sister." He said dismissively however he always underestimated who could even get into the building- not everyone was him. "Okay, sure. I'll see ya then." She said before disconnecting the call and waking up properly. Coffee- shower- then getting dressed. It was an easy system that she had adapted when shew as sleep deprived between school and her brother. She glanced over and saw Ava was still sprawled out on her bed, foot half way up the wall and her pillows on he floor. She shook her head at her friend and how bad she was at sleeping, wondering how she ever kept a boyfriend when she hogged the bed like that. With a shrug she looked herself over in the mirror and nodded in approval since she was wearing something more fashion prone that was popular- she needed to look good to go see her brother after all. She did her hair up in a more grown up style however it did look good on her, she had to admit. She snapped a picture of it for herself before heading out and grabbing a taxi to the main building for military, which made the cabby nervous. Hell it made any one nervous going there, she didn't mind however, she could always get her self out of a bad situation and she if she couldn't- her brother would. ---------- Domonick was in the process of putting his phone away when he was called away for the basic missive briefing with Victoria's guard. He knew this was important but he would rather be talking to Vicky. Well to everyone else she was Chancellor Victoria- to him she would always be Vicky- the other solider who could almost beat him- almost. Putting his disappointment away he went to made the brief meeting, jotting down the passwords in his own personal note book, putting it in his inner jacket pocket. His arms were moving rather well today- even if his muscles- the natural muscle ached a little still. He wasn't going to let this hold him back- ever. They changed all the passwords and such before leaving - the meeting only taking about two hours- making it about time his sister to show up. He made an excuse to leave the left over idol conversation and headed down stairs to see his sister through the security. No one was stupid enough to cross Domonick- specifically at his rank and his close position with the Chancellor. He was waiting, glancing down at his phone however his sisiter's voice met him before he saw her. "Oohh Don't you look all nice for your job today." She teased her brother getting a smile from him. "Just what I had lying around- they have yet to give me my blues that don't rip with my new enhancements." he commented with a smile since hew as glad to see she looked very well put together.

Her sarcastic little scouts sign made him smile, his chest tightening some at how cute she look. So he simply gave her a nod at her further teasing about getting sleep, waving her off in the taxi. A sigh pulled through him as he watched her leave, pushing him to go back to his apartment. Hopefully Gabby was already in bed and he could actually crawl into his bed. He made his way back toward the district that he stayed in, one that was on the cheaper and slightly sketchy area. It was cheap and none really messed with a big guy that looked like he could kick their ass. He also kept to himself and didn't draw attention, mostly because he was not trying to call attention from the police in the area that could pull up his record. He went into his apartment, finding the door was unlocked for some reason. He knew Gabby was good about locking it and he knew he locked it before he left. He noticed the distress on the lock and realized the cheap lock had been picked. He quickly went for the gun at his waist trying to keep quiet as he pushed the door open. He crept into the small entryway, looking around the corner into the dark. He found that past the small living room/kitchen, his room light was on and someone was inside, judging by the shadow that passed by. He moved to the door, giving himself a count before he grabbed the door knob and quickly knocked the door open. He raised the gun, pointing it at the moving shape. Quickly the figure raised their hands, shrieking in suprirse. It made him pause, only lowering the gun when he recognized the face. "Damn Nina. You gave me a heart attack." He snarled, getting a glare from a stunned Nina. "Me? You're the one with the gun! What was I going to do? Stab you with my toothbrush?" She said, waving the toothbrush with a smirk. He rolled his eyes before placing his gun on the desk near his door, looking Nina over to see she was in his clothes looking ready for sleep. "Why are you here? You broke my lock by the way. I expect you to fix it." He scolded, getting a shrug from Nina. "Yeah yeah, I know. I'm here because that frickin popstar tried to drop me off at my 'house'. I'm not leading him back to the headquarters and this was the only safe place I knew." Nate raised a brow, wanting to know more but she shook her head. "I'll tell you later. For now...can I stay here till I'm sure they didn't follow me? Victoria almost had me..." She said, which made Nate tense before he simply nodded. She climbed into his bed since he offered it, him pulling off his shirt and placing his phone and keys on the side table. He grabbed his pillow and a blanket, mumbling about getting on the couch. Poor guy looked exhausted honestly... Nina noticed his phone had a message and glanced at it while he got a few things together. She gave a giggle and looked to him. "Don't tell me. You finally gave her your number huh?" Nate turned bright red, scrambling to get his phone. When he saw the text from Maria, he gave the cutest puppy dog smile Nina had ever seen. "Damn man, she's got you in puppy love mode. I ship it." Nate gave her a blush, seemingly embarrassed into silence as he scurried into the den to sleep. Nina laughed to herself, glad for the two before she went to bed. ~~~ Victoria was stuck in meetings and holding elections for her new council members, something that bored her to no end. It wasn't enough that they insisted she work instead of escape to the weapons facility for the day to look over the war machines. It seemed instead they wanted to run by her a very interesting plan to get back at the rebels. She was wanting to just bomb the hell out of their rat nest, but of course the others were against it. Instead they wanted to be crafty and execute the rebel hostages infront of a live audience. She wasn't sure she liked the idea, since it didn't mean that the rebels would give in. In fact it may just fuel their cause more...There needed to be something else...She sat up a bit straighter when one young replacement for public relations spoke up, mentioning brain washing that the other chancellors had used in the past to push their agenda...it was perfect...
