Rin nodded as he hadn’t meant to bring up something that would bother her. He figured that she was used to people questioning her about her brother and his appetite for blood, but that didn’t make the conversation easier he supposed. “Makes sense.” He said though he looked ahead in time to catch Aiden slip something to Ciel. Such a sneaky thing for a prince to do...Deciding not to point it out, he decided to speak more with Mercy. “In the next town, I’m going to look into rumor. To see how Harena has faired. I see refugees but most are too confused and worried for their lives to know details.” He said to fill her in why he might disappear for extended time since he was sure Aiden would also like to know how his kingdom faired. Aiden noticed Rin chatting up Mercy and wondered what the man was up to. He remembered Rin stating that he wanted to remain in their good favor, but Rin becoming chatty over it was an odd touch. Then again, Rin had told him that he was a thief once and that he had to lie. Maybe he was charming Mercy for the alliance? He hoped that wasn’t the case, but then again Rin never was a man of many words or working well with others. At Ciel’s thanks, he gave a smile and a shrug. “No problem, I think I owe you more than that for saving my hide more than once.” He said before offering Ciel a curious look. “How long until the hunger pains subside? I don’t know how many snacks I can sneak before Mercy or Rin catches on.”

Mercy listened to Rin speak but gave a nod when he said he was going to be away a bit to get rumors on his homeland. She knew what it meant for them so she would leave it be. “ Alright. If you need anything- such as for bribes let me know.” She Stated quietly her eyes flickering to see the small talk between Aiden and Ciel she gave a small narrow of her eyes, having seen earlier but she was going to finish her conversation before doing so. She glanced at rin and gave him a smile,” and I know you can handle your self but If Aiden starts screamingg for no reason- I’m sending Ciel to find you.” She Stated before she glanced back at her brother and frowned. “ If you keep inhaling your foods your going to get fat.” She snapped at him making him jump a little that she had even seen him eat it that fast. “I should be back to normal by tonight but it’s just hard the first few hours is all. And not much gets past her, it’s kinda scary.” He said with a smile quietly to Aiden since it was true but it was also a joke.

Rin smirked at the idea of bribes. There were ways to get people to talk that didn’t require money. He wouldn’t go into detail to save some mystery to how he worked. However her next comment made him tense since he knew what she meant by that. It just threw him off a little. He wasn’t used to people being worried over him, or even caring if he was hurt. He was a body double now, once a theif, before that a nobody son of a smith’s assistant. Most everyone was worried about Aiden’s life, as he did. “No need since Aiden would be the one in trouble. My pain is irrelevant to him. The spell is in place so my life is forfeit if his ends.” He said since Rin’s life was tied to Aiden’s, not the other way around, to motivate him to protect Aiden in the ruthlessly beginning. If Aiden died, Rin died. If Rin died, Aiden lived. If Rin was injured, Aiden felt nothing but perhaps sorrow for his friend and a dull sensation that something was bothering the curse. He wanted to make it clear that the prince was the top priority, not Rin’s life. He looked ahead at the two, frowning some at the caught red handed look Aiden gave Mercy. Aiden however gave Ciel a curious glance. “Ah gotcha. Well that’s what sisters are for. My sisters are—were always in my business.” He began with an annoyed tone about it, but it turned somber as it finished. He then perked up suddenly as if nothing bothered him. “Then I’ll distract you from food. How about we talk about Nyx? I’ve never been there, well much of anywhere, what with us being waring nations. I’ve heard rumors though...” Rin rolled his eyes at that mention. “Aiden you know that is propaganda—“ “Well they tell us in Harena that there is no sun, that it snows all day, that people live in Ice huts, and that it’s a frozen wasteland. They also said it’s so cold your blood freezes—and that the Dragonborn tribes of the area are these hulking people that eat animals raw and fight like real dragons. Then again they never did mention Elves or vampires or Fae living there...” He said in his own naive way as he wasn’t well versed at all with other nations, just his own.

Mercy nodded at the knowledge that the curse was one way, but she purses her lips. “ at least come back to get some attention to your wounds. Can’t have my guard bleeding out on me.” She said with a small smile and a quiet chuckle almost a sound of teasing to it but she moved on with her horse kicking it up a bit to move closer to Ciel to hand him another candy to keep him busy perhaps, before letting her horse return to its comfortable place by Rin’s. Ciel took the candy with some thanks but didn’t eat it yet, listening to Aiden speak on What he knew of Nix, which was little to nothing. “The sky there seems so big. We have fields full of rocks and flowers, Moss and grass, trees...the colors are fantastic. There could be a deep blue lake- as clear as the sky- but the grasses would be a beautiful red and a tree of white perhaps...” he attempted to explain to Aiden what he remembered. Mercy was listening and smiled softly thinking of Nix. “ Our mother was born there. She often told me stories of a view from her bedroom window. A fantastic white mountain- covered in ice and snow- large and jagged against the blue sky- though below was fields of smooth rolling yellows and reds and greens. It’s a place where medical herbs are cultivated honestly. So it’s temperate yet cool in a way- heat kills some herbs.” She summarized in the end since she wasn’t too sure if he knew what Nix was known for honestly. “ it’s usually peaceful, the elves don’t get into too much there- the Fae usually keep things in line.” She Stated simply since of the elves started messing with thing they will fix the issue before it harms the land.

Mercy’s response made Rin nod, though he felt a bit strange that she would even mind. He would come back if he was injured, as he wasn’t stupid...but also because he was interesting to see her healing when he wasn’t unconcious. The story about Nix drew him in as well, but he was less obvious with his interest. Aiden however looked like a kid in awe of it all. “It sounds beautiful. Can we see it?” He asked excitedly but Rin quickly shook his head. “Absolutely not. Your father is at war with them. The prince of Harena would be killed.” Rin said since any smart politician on the opposing side would want to kill the child of your enemy and future heir to the throne. “You’re far too cynical Rin. Mercy and Ciel’s mothers from there. We’d be alright and we aren’t out to draw attention to ourselves.” Aiden said dismissively, before Rin gave a frown and a roll of his eyes. “So you guys haven’t been then?” Aiden asked since it sounded like they had just descriptions of the place from their mother. Eventually they broke the line of trees to a town that was less populated than the others, but it looked to be an outpost for traders and travelers anyways. The inn was almost completely full, but that afforded Rin with prime people to speak with. Aiden was a bit unsure of it all, since last time they got attacked when there were a lot of people.

Mercy was gunning hit looked at Aiden when he asked if they hadn’t been there but she shook her head. “ Both of us have, though not that area. We went to pass out mothers body to the Fae for burial rights.” She stated knowing Ciel has been rather young for that trip. She let things drop for now as they got into town letting Rin do as he liked, but requested for Aiden to keep close to her because she wasn’t a fan of a crowd. As they brought their things up to the large room they rented it had three beds. She didn’t have an issue sleeping in a bed with her brother so it didn’t bother her any but figured Rin and Aiden wished separate beds. She glanced over at aiden and gave him a soft smile. “ I hope we can share our home with you Aiden. And the Dragonborne tribes aren’t that harsh, they cook their food like any other. But not ice huts, most use sticks and mud in some places...” she explained to perhaps keep him occupied in though to let Rin do what he needed with out worrying. Ciel put the rather large trunk down and gave a huff, looking to be thinking. “ don’t we have family in Nix still?” He asked looking conflicted with his memory. She gave him a nod,” Yes, our aunt- our mothers eldest sister lives there- with her odd ball husband.” She state dhaving met him once but wanted too sure what her issue about the human was- not to mention one who sucked at anything he attended to.

Rin moved into the crowds, keeping to himself and blending into the masses. He moved along to a nearby bar, noticing a few people sitting outside that looked foreign and tired. Bars were a great place for information, not just because of loose lips and multitudes of people. When hard times fell, some people got busy working and some fell down into a bottle to forget. Everyone handled stress differently...He walked in and saw a few men by the bar, the group looking like peasants, the dust and sand on their clothes giving away they were from Harena. The oldest man there kept fiddling with an emblem from the temple of the goddess around his neck. The younger two were drinking heavily, looking red in the face and like they had some pain in their mind. Rin took in the details and knew the lie he had to play. The men were drunk enough it would work. He moved to the bar, slipping money onto the counter to call the attention of the bartender and the men there. He ordered a bottle of something strong and from Harena before sitting on the bar stool, his head in his hands. He could feel eyes on him as he began saying a small prayer of death to the goddess of the sands, listening for the sounds of someone making a move. He heard the old man stop fidgetting with his chain and someone cleared their throat. "You can come join us, friend. The goddess has touched our lives as well." Rin gave a sniffle, turning to look at the men at the table with a forlorn look. "Ah, men of faith...A sight for sore eyes in these trying times. When the goddess's land is lost..." RIn said softly as he rose with his bottle and sat down with them. He knew he had the men and that they would tell him everything he needed to know... ~~~ Aiden stuck with Ciel and Mercy, though he felt a bit odd being alone without Rin. For so long Rin was there in his shadow, watching over him. Aiden sat on one of the beds, listening to Mercy talk about one day visiting Nix with him. He smiled at her an looked briefly excited, as though all of that was possible. "Yeah, I would love to see it. All of it. The things they tell us in Harena are not all bad. But definitely jaded..." He said before he tilted his head some at the mention of a family member, an aunt and an uncle that Mercy didn't seem too fond of. "An older aunt and an odd uncle? They sound like interesting company." He said in a small joking tone as he had odd family members as well. Though when your father had 6 wives, it was hard not to run into some weird ones.

At the joke of interesting company Mercy actually giggled. She knew this man had no ideas “ They are indeed.” She state dbut let it go since it wasn’t nice to talk about them really, since it made her miss them. “ what about you Aiden? Do you want to talk about anything?” He asked almost looking conflicted with his own questions including she knew he man was having a hard time with loosing his family. “ or maybe tell me about your home lands? I want to see them too one day, maybe we can all go...” he said to make the amand on his words in case the man didn’t want to speak on it. Mercy however went over to the window and seemed to be looking for Rin, it was oddly subconscious but she worried- even if she didn’t need to.

When the questions were turned on him, Aiden gave a small frown. Not one that was sad or hurt, just a bit surprised. "Um, well I guess I could talk about my home. Or what I know of it. I wasn't allowed out of the palace much. Rin could probably tell you more since he traveled quite a bit... I do know that there are vast expanses of sand and some rivers that provide water to towns. All of the towns are built around water sources because they are scarce and it's rather pretty when the fishing boats and merchant ships sail from the ocean kingdom. There is an occasional oasis of lush greenery and fertile soil for planting, like the capitol Harena. It's like a green paradise amongst the sand, dust, and mountains...They say that soil, where Harena was built, was blessed by magic, that an oasis is any land that has magical properties in the desert. That's why a few mages take up residence in those places, even though most elves and fae stay out of the place. It's more built for humans, orcs, and dwarves. You only find the dangerous races like genie, demon and giants in the wastelands, the vast stretches of desert and craggy rocks and caves. I would like to show you my home...if it becomes safe again. It was the birthplace of our kingdoms, the first that was controlled by the mages centuries ago." He said, reciting what he knew and what information he could share with them since they were so open with him. He, however, felt a bit of sadness creeping in as he thought on the safe bit...would he ever be allowed to go home? ~~~ Rin left the men while they were irreconcilably drunk, having gotten the information from them that he needed. Whether it was information he wanted or not, that was to be decided later. It turns out the men had stuck around the city after the fighting and had seen the dangers that were created. Two were men of the temple and one was a servant of the palace. It turns out that Nix was the culprit of the attack and that the citizens of Harena were told all in the royal family died except their king and the prince. The king even made a public announcement that a Nix operative had taken his son and was holding him hostage...to say the least Rin figured the king was coerced by his captors to say this...Aiden's father must have known Rin had Aiden safe. Surely the reward for Aiden's return was set up by Nix...Whether or not the information was totally correct, the startling information that Nix wanted to keep the king in power out of good faith and to help bridge the nations together was more jarring. How would Aiden react to all this however? Rin made his way back to the inn in an hour or so, shaking off the effects of some of the alcohol he consumed. The shit was strong for good measure, but Rin was a light weight. He asked for the room that Mercy had purchased and made his way up, but paused by the door. He heard Aiden speaking of Harena and felt a pang of sadness at it. He didn't want to tell the prince what he learned just yet...maybe he could rely on someone else with the information...someone who maybe had a softer way of breaking it to the prince. When he entered the room, Aiden looked excited to see him. "Hey Rin, you were gone a while. Is everything alright?" Rin nodded, taking a seat on a chair near the window that Mercy stood by. He gave a sigh before folding his arms some. "Yes, everything is alright. We will speak on things later." Aiden looked a bit confused and frowned. "Why? I want to know about home--" "Aiden, later." He said, making the prince look oddly annoyed for Aiden who was usually so cheerful. Rin ignored the glare and looked to Mercy. "Thank you for allowing me time to check into rumors. Now, do you need anything? Surely you will have clients in this town that need healing." He said, forcefully changing the subject as he didn't want to pin Mercy in a room where sensitive information was being shared again. It made her uncomfortable and he didn't want that...

Mercy listened as aiden spokenbut kept her eyes on the sidewalks bellow then to see what she could find- however she saw Rin leaving the bar? Well it was a good place for rumor she assumed he knew what he was doing as Aiden said - he was well traveled. Ciel looked interested in the geography lesson from another nation since he loved learning. “ wow- that sounds like an interesting place to see! I wish we could- at least I would like to. Mercy isn’t a fan of too much heat.” He Stated more as a joke at his sister who he assumed wasn’t paying attention. “ it makes my hair frizzy brat.” She Stated dryly before she seemed to ignore then a bit before the door opened and Rin came in. She heard him take the chair by the window and be a bit curt with Aiden. She felt the awkward energy there From Rin Ass aiden asked about their home, she assumed it was because they were only the room. She looked to Rin, a delicate white brow raised in slight question but nothing more. “You are capable of making your own decisions Rin, you don’t honestly need my permission for anything- but you already know this I assume.” She said normally but near the end her words took in a slightly teasing tone- erring on flirty. She glancing back over at Ciel and gave him a nod. “ Assist Rin and Aiden in what they need. I’m going out to see if there is a need here. I will return in a while. Rin and Aiden you both have your own bed, Ciel and I will share one.” She Stated before she went over to her trunk and grabbed a cape draping it over her dress and grabbing a bag. She knew when others wanted alone time but figured let them get this out of the way. She gave them a smile before shutting to door behind her a bit more abrupt then she originally wished but went about her business. Ciel looked a bit awkward as she left looking after her as she left and frowned. “ Do you think she took that hair comment too hard?” He asked a bit nïavly. Glancing over at aiden and Rin and gave a sigh. “ do you need anything done I guess? She would be even more mad at me if I didn’t ask.” He Stated looking a little upset that he thought his sister was mad at him.

Rin blinked at her response since he had only asked to see if she needed help. As he was charged with helping protect her as well, he didn't want her to feel like he was slacking. However, her tone shift at the end of her statement made him frown some, as he was confused by it. He didn't respond as he was still a bit caught off guard. When she left them with Ciel, Aiden had yet to stop glaring at Rin and Rin was formulating how to get the boy out of the room. He didn't deserve to be around when Aiden finally spoke. "Actually yes Ciel. Could you go buy some ingredients for me? I saw a stand nearby that sold tonics for things and I wanted to try making a potion or two." Rin said politely as he went to grab the left over funds that Mercy had given him and the list of things he needed. As he handed it to the boy, he gave him a softer look. "I'm sure your sister is alright. My sister would get huffy and then be back to tell me about here day in mere minutes. Don't fret." He said since he was trying to be social with the boy and to get him to leave. When Ciel was off, Rin looked to Aiden who had taken to standing now, pacing some. He stopped by the window and looked out it with a pensive look. "You're going to tell me they are all dead...aren't you?" Aiden said in a softer voice, one that drew Rin to shake his head. "Worse....they have your father captive...and it was Nix that attacked us." Aiden looked at him with wide eyes before he suddenly turned and went to his things. He began packing, making Rin frown at his quick movmeent. "Aiden what are you doing?" "What does it look like Rin? I'm going back home, to save my father." He said, not even looking at Rin as he packed. He tried to go for the door with his things, but Rin materialized from smoke in his way to the door. "Aiden you can't save him. You're one man and you'll be throwing yourself into their grasps." Aiden tried to move around Rin, but Rin caught his arm, making the prince whirl to face him in anger. "I can't leave him there Rin! My only family is locked away in that palace with people who wanted to kill me! If they kill him and I knew he was there--that I could have done something--" "But you can't do anything. Listen--" "If it was Essa you would be already gone Rin!" Aiden shouted over Rin, flipping the switch of control in the man. Rin released Aiden, getting in the man's face as he tried to push past him. Aiden knew he had screwed up by bringing his dead sister into things, but it was true. Rin was heartless to other's problems until it affected him... "Essa knew the cost of protecting you! She gave her life so we could escape. Your father is alive and Nix is looking for you with bounty hunters, like the ones we ran into. Turn yourself over to them and we both die. This isn't just your life!" Rin snarled as his hands balled to fists at his side. Aiden's eyes widened some at Rin actually shouting back, but he was angry himself and hardly wanted to still be there arguing. He should be back home, saving his kingdom, not running and hiding like a child. "Who cares Rin? Who wants a life where they run and hide? Don't you want to get back at those bastards that took her from you? That took my family from me--" Aiden's voice broke and Rin saw his eyes getting glassy like he might cry. Rin however was cold and collected, as he had to be as Aiden's protector. "We don't get the luxury of that revenge. You're the last of your line and the only hope for restoring your family to power. If you die, your family dies with you--Everything I have done is for nothing--my sister would have died for nothing...with only a note to remember her by." Aiden glared at Rin briefly before he pulled away, throwing his things down in the chair before he went to the window to sit silently. Rin ignored the tension in the room, knowing he pacified the prince for now. He grabbed the note from his bag, pulling it from the parcel and reading it in the light from the window. "Protect the seal..." Rin read aloud before opening the parcel. Inside was a ring, an ornate one with a family crest that looked ancient if not unfamiliar. Aiden looked up from the window at the ring, watching Rin's face morph in pain and confusion. "That's what she left you?" Aiden asked softly and Rin nodded silently. "What does it mean?" Rin said to himself before sitting next to Aiden, but on the floor, wanting to be close to someone after all the pain that surged through him. All he had left of his sister was a cryptic note and some old piece of jewelry. What was worse...he couldn't ask her what any of it meant...Or tell her how angry he was that this was it. He realized then that he expected something else. A note to him, something personal from his sister to remember her by...instead it was nothing...He looked away from it, putting it on the table while he tried to put his feelings in place. He felt a hand go to his shoulder suddenly and he felt Aiden grip his shoulder in comfort. Rin didn't move, but only whispered a small "thank you." before they fell back into their silence.

Ciel nodded and took the things and left the room figuring it was best to appease his sister and jump to things. He went into the market area and got the items on the list, finding them all very basic- his sister had most in fact but he wasn’t sure how Mercy felt about sharing her own stocks of things since that could go either way depending on her mood. He let a sigh pass his lips as she moved a bit towards the center of town, by the bar and saw his sister helping a man who’s leg was in a splint. She was a god send for many but others she was just a pretty sight. He stayed there and waited till she was done since it was starting to get dark by now. He was patient and stood, though he got a bit bored. Mercy eventually joined him with a soft look and a thanks for waiting since she assumed he got the idea to stay clear of the room for ge other two men to say their piece. They went back up to the room however Mercy knocked before entering Incase one was changing or they were still talking privavlty not wanting to interrupt.

When the knock came at the door Aiden pulled away from cleaning his blade, though had to pause a moment before he opened it to make sure his emotions were in order. He had time to reflect and think on things and despite the hurt he felt, he was in no position to return home yet. Rin agreed they would talk further with the group on Aiden's request, but of course that meant first figuring out a few things. For one, they had to find out just how Nix got the balls to attack their kingdom and how they won so effortlessly. Second, they needed to understand what Essa meant by that hidden gift to Rin. It was important enough that she hid it long enough to give to Rin...maybe it was something Nix wanted? Before he could open the door, he heard Rin's voice outside and went to sit back down, knowing the man had the door. Rin approached the door after going to the bathhouse attached to the place, feeling like he needed time to think to himself before he addressed people. It also felt good to be in his own skin for a moment with the curse fading from the contact with water to allow his true features to return. He was surprised to find Mercy and Ciel outside, waiting as if to be let into their own room. Rin walked up to the two and placed one of the bottles he had bought from downstairs under his arm so he could have a free hand. He felt like Aiden could use a drink and the other was up for grabs from the companions if they wanted it. "You can go in. It's just Aiden." He said, pushing some of his white hair behind his ear as he brushed past them to open the door. Rin walked in and placed a bottle on the table before opening the other and taking a swig from it. He winced at the taste before offering it to Aiden. The prince looked shocked to see Rin drinking since he never saw the man even touch alcohol in Harena. Was that fight still getting to him? He took the bottle and took a drink, though held onto it while Rin took a seat at the foot of his bed. "I hope you don't mind but Rin and I got a drink or two. You're welcome to the other bottle, whatever it is...How was your outing, Mercy?" Aiden asked pleasantly to fill the quiet as Rin fidgetted with his hair to get it up in a bun and out of his face. Rin did glance at Ciel momentarily though as he looked the boy over for the materials he asked for. "Did you have trouble finding the ingredients Ciel?" Rin asked, huffing some when a stray strand fell in his face. He wanted to just cut it all off to his usual short cut, but that would only seek to harm his disguise as Aiden...

Ciel glanced to the side as Rin cane along, saying it was only Aiden in the room currently. Mercy was smirking since she very much liked the change of appearance with Rin, she wasn’t the biggest fan of him looking like the boy since she liked Elven features best, even if he was a typical broody mage- she didn’t mind. Ciel took the bottle and gave it an odd look sic ehe wasn’t old enough to drink, but maybe his sister would? He took the bottle in and put it on the table before getting into the bag on his side at Rins’ request of the items he wished. Mercy came in and took off her cape and put her bag down by her trunk. Taking off a few layers of her dress, she was in an under slip lot eor less, though nothing was visible through it so she found no issue with wearing it at the moment. “ things were fine, a few broken bones and one man was ill with food poisoning. He just soundly tell his wife she was a bad cook.” She said in a joking manner before taking the extra bottle and taking a swig, not even flinching at the flavor that was strong. She had drank worse before- strong even but wasn’t about to say such since it was bought- though she preferred Elven wines honestly. She took a seat on the bed and eyes the things her brother had gotten, making her raise a brow at Rin. “ you do alchemy?” She asked since some mages didn’t and it was just surprising really to honk he did as an illusion mage. She did for healing and Ciel did not because he honestly didn’t have a knack for it but she didn’t tease him since their mother didnt either. Her potions were just as likely to fail as they were to heal. She gave a small smile at the thought before laying out on her bed- feet towards the headboard and her back down- watching things happen in the room and attempting to loosen up since it seemed everyone else was tense. “ I hope it rains tomorrow.” She said with a smirk in Rins’ direction knowing it was teasing the poor man but knew he wouldn’t mind since ah ehad already messed up once in touching the man with out asking. She knew it had been odd for her to do but- Fae were like that.

Aiden blinked at Mercy's talk of her work, though he was more or less shocked by her suddenly stripping down. Rin seemed less surprised and kept his eyes on his materials, either not noticing or he had a better poker face. Aiden, however, turned his attention to Ciel with a bright smile. "How heavy can you lift? I was curious after I saw you pick that guy up and with lifting that trunk." He asked since he felt like he needed a distracting conversation away from Mercy and to keep his thoughts off his family. "Sorry if that was insensitive. I'm just really curious about this whole magic and vampires thing. You're the only one I've met and it's pretty cool." He said honestly to make sure he wasn't offending Ciel and if he was, he gave the kind free reign to shut him up. Rin looked up at Mercy at her question and gave a small shake of his head. "Hardly. I know a few poisons, lethal and non-lethal. I used the last vial of the non-lethal variety on a few men to find out the happenings in Harena." Aiden passed him the bottle as he talked, though Rin simply held the bottle a moment, as if unsure of whether to take another drink of it. At her next comment though, his eyes did flit briefly to her form and how the fabric framed her body as she lay comfortably. He ignored the thoughts that came to mind and instead gave her a reserved look as he took a drink. He set the bottle away, his lips feeling a bit looser than before. "Why is that?" He asked, feigning innocence in knowing she was teasing him. The way she seemed interested in his looks when they changed threw him off...He, however, gave her a small quirk of his lips that could have been a smile. "Then you would have a soaked and inadequate mage to deal with. I couldn't do my job properly with the curse not in place. let alone seen in public with Aiden." He said, making Aiden give a groan. "Please, Goddess of the Sands, don't let Rin get stir crazy. The man can't function if he isn't busy with something." Rin shot Aiden's teasing look a glare before he went back to picking the seeds from a flower that he had gotten Ciel to buy that had a powerful sedative in them.
