Mercy nodded at his confirmation before closing the book and putting it to the side so she could stand. She straightened out her dress and gave him a smile offering him her hands, palms facing up. “Take my hands please.” She Stated quietly, waiting for him to do so before she continued. She closed her eyes and focused- her hands erupted into blue light- pure unfocused magic honestly, letting it swirl about their hands. “ see the magic- raw unfocused. I can turn it to harm or to help with a single thought, such as the ways of magic go.” She easily turned it to a warm yellow light then a darker green tinted light, though nothing was harmful, all Rin would see would be the color change in the mama and perhaps the hum of magic since she didn’t apply it to him. “As fae, magic is part of us. It is not just a tool- or a fighting technique it is part of us. A life style.” She Stated before she shifted her feel slightly to better ground herself. “ Rin, close your eyes and focus your mana like I have about your hands. Make it swirl there, slow and calm- no though of harm or help. Simply there at a willing. This is called expansion. All Fae learn this at a young age to help exsercise their mama pools.” She Stated opening her eyes to watch him, if he could do it and stay focused then she could teach him, if not then he would really have to put in effort. It wasn’t easy to keep the mana calm when it was being usher and used about. He had to control the amount, and movements and ge force, as well as his thought, while still keeping track of his environment, this might be new to him so she would see.

Rin rose and took her hands without hesitation, as the touch was called for to learn. However, when magic erupted in her hands and she began to speak on how magic was a part of Fae, he felt an odd sense of wonder at it all. He watched the magic shift colors and the way it tingles like waves on his skin, showing off her control of it. He hardly had that kind of control, or at least he had never tried. It was part of the reason he sometimes feared the magic he did have rather than rely on it solely or even try to improve it past what he had. He was just a human with some kind of power that he got from the gods knew where and he fully accepted that. But his curiosity and Mercy's willingness made him feel like he should try, if not for himself then to let her share what she pleased with him. At her instructions, he gave a bit of an uncertain look a moment. He wasn't sure he could do it, but he would try. He shut his eyes, trying to focus on the magic within him. His expression smoothed as he tried to call upon the force inside him that always was there, pressing against his control like water on a floodgate. He had better control with age and some training, but it was still an unknown force to him. After a few silent moments, a spark of light flickered before an inky black, smoke like energy began to form with sparks of a light orange color trying to form. His brow furrowed as he tried to focus on it harder, but that only seemed to the darker magic work harder in stifling the light. He felt he was doing this wrong and he decided to open his eyes and speak to her about it. When his eyes opened, he saw the smokey energy fade, realizing he had accidentally cast a spell that was used in illusions. "You say magic isn't a tool but a part of you...I get that in a way...But how do you make it appear like that, without using a spell? That idea seems strange." He said since his magic had always been used as needed and not as this omipresent force within him.

She watched as he failed, feeling the spell being vast like a pull of a tide. She let him realize his wrong before she focused on him. “ dont It call your mana. Focus on your hands, feel with your mind through your blood, feel it as it flows from your core to your arms, then your finger tips. Feel as it fluctuates with each pulse of your heart. Then breathe deep. Relax- let your mind open and simply focus on your hands- your mana is usually focused about your being or your core- draw it to the surface, to your hands in this case since we are focusing.” She tried to explain a different way since her little brother had issues with this as well. She kept her eyes on Rin as she did so taking a moment to focus then a deep breath then the mana was at her hands. “ do not call your mana to being for a spell. Let it be a guide not a simple tool to be used a silenced.” She Stated with a small smile before letting him try agin.

Rin listened to her words and gave a nod, despite the fact he felt they were a bit out there and ethereal. Was magic really this just energy that could just emit without need of spells and purpose? He felt his own thoughts getting the better of him, to the point he had to watch her form the magic again before he was able to take a calming breath. He released the tension in him, trying to relax. He did as she said, focusing on his hands and letting his mind take a passive seat. It was hard to turn of the analyzing, critical side of himself and just let himself be in the moment, but with time, he felt something new than before. He could feel the energy humming through him, his arms now feeling light and airy rather than heavy. When the energy reached his fingers, Rin felt his lip twitch into a smile as the feeling was nice and strange, oddly like water rolling off his fingertips. It was hardly perfect but a softly glowing orange light hovered over his hands, though it occasionally blinked out or seemed to writhe around his hands. He could feel his mind wanting to slip back in, to take control and bend his magic back into place. But he kept it at bay with another deep breath before continuing to focus. "This feels different than before." He said but didn't open his eyes for fear he would lose that concentration. However, he did smile when the energy did lose it's control a moment and sent an odd, ticklish feeling up his arm. "I haven't caught anything on fire yet right?" He joked lightly, his first not sarcastic joke around her though he didn't really notice. He was trying to follow her instructions and succeeding somewhat, even if it was shaky control and his mana hardly was staying in one big coherent place for long.

She watched as he took her words into himself and enacted them, succeeding happily, he even cracked a joke. AHe didn’t speak but she put her hands back in his and let her mana sword about both his hands- pulling his mana a bit more hit not much to keep it flowing smoothly. Her eyes were closed and her brow a little creased as she had to really focus to help him regulate his mana flow. It was a different kind of energy for her so she was really focusing. “ nothing is on fire. Take in to mind this exact feeling, the amount of Mana being used to keep their stream constant. This is what is required for this spell.” She said before opening her eyes and looking at him. She was being very serious but there was reason. “ let the mana go and let it rest back in your core. Then watch as i do the spell. Once you get the mana flow under control you will easily have a grasp of the magic since with afar magic- you need not speak. Remember magic is part of you not a tool.” She Stated and let him relax. She brought the mana to her feet, it emitted a small soft golden glow. She made eye contact with Rin then moved backwards two quick steps as if dodging. When Rin would look down his feet would be glowing. The yellow like vapors from her mana holding his feet, though not with the same effect. She was simply projecting her mana as an example since she couldn’t do Illusion Magic’s. “Focus your mana on the part you want held back. Then make eye contact with the target- then force your mana to enact it. The vapors will act as it will- in Illusion magic as a hallucinogenic and make the body stay.” She said explaining what she did and how his would act different then hers.

Rin felt her hands touch his and then her magic mingle with his. It was an oddly intimate thing, the way her energy felt holding his in place, but he didn’t say it or let on to it. Instead he focused and tried to follow the sound of her voice. When she pulled away and told him to remember that feeling, he opened his eyes and allowed the magic to fade. He held onto that feeling, though he figured he would need to practice more on his own perhaps. Rin watched her cast her magic to him without a word, something that shocked him, but he was quick to put his mask back on. He looked down at the golden glow around his feet before he looked up at her. She said to focus that feeling onto a target and that the spell should appear where he willed it. Rin gave it some thought before he focused on that feeling again he got earlier. It was shaky at first but he then tried it on himself, trying to push the energy from his hands to his feet. He didn’t want to risk doing something wrong to Mercy after all and he wanted her lucid if she needed to stop him or move. He felt an odd tingling in his feet and for one reason or another they felt heavier. He looked down at his feet and saw the illusion for what it was, the wood slowly turning to a puddle and making his feet stick to it as he sank. He gave a bit of a smile, before he muttered something, making the illusion dispel. He then looked to the room, where the old man was playing his board game, seemingly unable to hear or care about what they were doing. Rin gave a breath and tried to focus on the man’a foot that was bouncing from him wiggling his leg in concentration. He could hear the thumping his foot as he closed his eyes and used that as the grounding point. When he opened his eyes, the man’s foot suddenly stopped, making him jolt a little. He looked down and gave a panicked gasp when he no doubt saw his shoe being slowly swallowed by the floor. The man kicked off his shoes and ran for the door, the spell obviously being dispated to allow him to move due to Rin’s lack of perfect control. The sight brought a smile to his lips before it faded and he looked to Mercy. “It’s different...but I could get used to not memorizing incantations. I need more practice....later of course.” He said since he hated to take more of her time. “Thank you for showing me this.” He said though he did look to his hands, feeling odd that he was casting new magic forms now.

Mercy watched as he practiced on himself then the man in the corner who had been polite to ignore them so far. She giggled when the man bailed from the room- leaving behind his shoe. Nodding to Aaron she calmed her giggle and cleared her throat. “ yes, practice will improve your control. And your welcome. I wouldn’t have taught Anyone else.” She said before moving to pick up the book and left the room. She figured Rin would want to do what he needed and she had intruded on his time enough that evening. She went back to her room and changed into a lighter gown for sleeping, her little brother out cold. ——- In the morning she was feeling good, having woken early with her brother they packed and did some practice since her brother was still young. She dressed mostly conservative if not for the draping of her dress but she wanted to have some sun on her skin today. Leaving her room, she got quite a few cat calls but she ignored them completely since they weren’t to her liking honestly. She paid for some food for travel and thanked the inn keeper before asking Ciel to get Aiden and Rin. She assumed they would be awake but simply still in their space perhaps? pin.it/k4gbpyt5vtcftc

Rin let her leave, but did think a moment on what she said. What was so special about him that she was willing to even teach him? He went back to his room, having momentarily ignored the parcel from his sister in favor of figuring out this expansion thing. He found Aiden sitting on his bed, sharpening a sword. Aiden looked up from his work and gave Rin a raise of his brow. Was it just him or did the man seem to have less of a dark cloud over him? "Your outting go well? Or are you just that happy to see me?" Aiden joked, getting a look from Rin before he shrugged. "Perhaps. I got to speak with Mercy and she showed me this trick with my magic." He went on to show Aiden who looked shocked and watched Rin practice for a bit. He was curious why his buddy and Mercyy seemed actually kind of close, but of course he wouldn't spoil things by asking. The two ended up passing out, much like two boys that stayed up playing too late. Rin woke to the sound of someone at the door. Aiden rose and walked over to the door, as Rin looked a bit discombobulated from a lack of sleep. He found it was Ciel and gave the boy a very warm smile. "Hey Ciel! We're up now. Just stayed up kinda late talking. All good things I promise!" He said before raising a brow at how Ciel looked. "Oh are we leaving today?" He asked before looking back at Rin who was getting up and getting dressed. "We'll be down in a minute." He told him before going to get ready for the morning with Rin. When they made it downstairs, both men were in more casual clothing, Rin in more of a deep green color while Aiden was in a black mixed with sunny oranges. "Where are we headed? Further into Terra? Away from it? Ah anywhere is fine as long as its new." Aiden said while Rin only shook his head, as he couldn't care less where they were going as long as it was away from the people trying to hunt them. Though he did catch a look at Mercy's dress, the more modest but still rather flattering cut on her was nice. But of course Aiden was the one to open his mouth first. "You look really pretty today Mercy. No offense, I just think it's nice." He said with a playful smile that made Rin want to roll his eyes. It never failed that Aiden would at least try to flirt with everything that walked.

Ciel smiled back at Aiden since he assumed he had woken them up. He gave them a nod since it seemed they had been up late, not that he minded. At the second question of if they are leaving he nodded. “ yeah, Mercy said we need to move on.” He Stated easily since his sister had an odd sense of when it was best to leave. Ciel let them be as he went back down stairs and got himself some food to eat since he was starving or at least felt like it. After he fed on a human he often had a large Apatitie. Mercy glanced up when the boys came down and gave Rin and Aiden a smile, but she did glance back at Rin, liking the darker color on him. When Aiden blirted out that he liked her dress she paused and looked down a moment before nodding. “ thanks I guess, it’s not my favorite style. It’s more human then I like but it will do.” She Stated since she liked more revealing dresses as it was proper in her culture but to any other besides elves it was odd.

Aiden was a bit confused by her response, but let it be since he couldn't really think of what to say about it. Rin was glad he left it be and went over to get food for them. He knew Aiden would whine if he didn't eat. He handed Aiden the sandwich type food, before taking his own. He took notice of the men that were noticing Mercy, some making comments about her. However, he decided to speak up to dispell the fact he was taking notice of his surroundings. It didn't matter after all and it wasn't his business unless they made a move to harm her or touch her inappropriately. He was being paid for protection after all. "Ciel said we were moving on. May I make a request that we move more North? To avoid our uninvited friends better..." He said since he was sure Mercy could see why he didn't want to make a habit of fighting more mages and people out hunting Aiden.

At the request from Rin she looked to be in thought a moment before giving a nod. “Alright, North then west a bit next time to stay about two days from the border lines.” She commented quietly to him with a soft look knowing the man was doing his job of protecting Aiden. She didn’t mind his suggestions- she rather liked him, even with his quiet disposition. She took a seat to eat when a man came up and gave her a wink, smellingnof hay and mead. “Hey girly. You some kinda rich girl?” He asked in a less then charming manner and Mercy gave him a blank look that was bland honestly. “ I am female if that was what was asked. However you need to move away from me before you are removed from my company.” She stated ask ciel stood up across from him looking like he would pick up the man and throw him, even with the bread hanging out of his mouth. She assumed Rin had stood as well since the man was looking at the three men with her who looked serious. He gave a drunk almost shrug before moving on. She purses her lips and gave a small sound as if dismissing their existence.

Rin gave her a nod, more as a sign of thanks. He liked that she at least tried to help make his job easier. It was something to be grateful for, since she was the one in charge of the travel. They were just hired muscle. Even though her brother as a vampire could tear someone to shreds. Rin had scene a vampire fight a city guard once and it had been a bloody mess. The guard should have just let the man leave with his stolen jewels, but instead he thought he was tough enough to take the beast...foolish mistake. While he didn’t hold that image to Ciel, he knew better than to test the child. Though not everyone was that smart. Rin heard the footsteps before the man even spoke and instantly he was hyper aware that someone was approaching. When the smell hit his nose, he knew it was a worker that had a bit of liquid courage running through him. His rather obvious observation made Rin roll his eyes, till Mercy made a comment about removal. When the man didn’t move, he got up, seeing Ciel was already up and looking protective of his sister. Aiden followed suit, his usually friendly demeanor turning a shade more serious. When the man walked off, Aiden eased but Rin watched his back, doing another sweep of the room for anymore possible brave idiots. When he found none, he sat, looking at Ciel. “The next one that speaks to her needs to be handled before he finishes. If they are dumb enough to think she’s interested after that, they are dumb enough to put a hand on her and risk losing it.” He said, as he had the same premise with most things, including Aiden. He gave people a chance, one to touch the fire to figure out it was hot. He didn’t actively seek conflict unless conflict happened or was necessary. He didn’t give second chances. When you didn’t learn the first time, you got burned. Aiden gave a bit of a frown at that before looking to Mercy. “Sorry about the compliment earlier. I didn’t realize you get that crap a lot.” He said since he felt a little bad now that he was seeing she got bothered often.

Ciel nodded to Rin agreeing completely knowing his sister was mean enough but it was nice to have those who watched for you. Mercy glanced over at aAiden when he apologized but shook her head. “ don’t apologize. I don’t mind a friendly compliment- his were sloppy and I don’t know him. Making it obvious I wish to not hear his words on my looks.” She stated but her eyes did stray to Rin a moment from his earlier words. “ I appreciate the thought however if they do attempt to touch me I can ruin their lives before anyone can blink.” She Stated smoothly as a threat but not to Any one in their little party.
They packed up completely and headed out on horse back, ignoring the town for the most part honestly. Ciel was complaining with I. The hour that he was hungry again, but mercy seemed humored by it. “ you will have to fast till lunch brother.” She stated getting a groan from him like he was going to starve to death as they rode. Mercy looked back at the boy’s and shook her head. “ don’t mind Ciel, after he gets Blood into his system he had a huge appetite and it’s hard to sate, so I try to keep him off of it.” She explained simply more to Rin and Aiden since Ciel knew already that he had messed up but he had been defending Aiden so she let it slide with only a minor scolding.

They left town without much of a show, although Rin caught a few people that looked relieved to see the ‘trouble makers’ leaving. It made him check his surroundings a bit more carefully for any sign they were followed. When he didn’t find an immediate threat, he turned his attention back to the road ahead. After all, Rin believed Mercy’s threat and he knew Ciel was powerful enough to keep someone off Aiden should another attack occur. It was...nice to know he had back up. When Ciel began to complain of hunger during the trip, Aiden looked concerned while Rin looked more passive. The boy would live. Besides, Mercy explained why he was so hungry and it all had to do with blood. Rin looked at Ciel a moment before he then glanced to Mercy. “Vampires can live without blood?” Rin asked, confused by that insinuation since he had learned in reading that vampires needed blood to function or maintain any semblance of humanity. While Rin and Mercy talked, Aiden kicked up his horse a little, trying to be discrete. “Don’t tell Mercy.” Aiden whispered as he slipped Ciel a pastry Aiden had taken from the inn for something later to snack on. He hated hearing the boy suffer over something that was minor and could cause them no real harm to indulge right? ~~~ The blonde elf woman gave a wince as the healer tightened the salve covered bandage over her left eye. She felt miserable with her eyes burning and aching, but at least she could see clearly in her right eye. Whatever that mage had hit her with was nasty business, something she would have to watch for next time. She tried to relax back in her bed, but relaxation disappeared when the door to her chambers swung open. “The commander wishes to see you.” The woman glared at the armored man at her door before a sigh pulled through her. She got out of bed, batting away the helping hands of the healer. Though she wore only her caster robes that left little to the imagination, the woman made her way for the commander's war room with little care. She could feel the men in the fortress sizing her up, wondering how she could wear so little in the frigid cold of Nix. She simply gave them passing smiles and knew they could never attain her. She was a chaste thing despite her looks. When she stepped into the office, she gave a bow to the man at the head of the room. He was young for a man of high military command, but still his face had weathering and age to it from battles in the past. The rather large man made his way from the window that overlooked the frozen tundra beyond their walls, a small city below that housed families of soldiers and those that worked for the fort. Nix wasn't known for their military might, but the little military they had was well established and well stocked with dragonborn, humans, and elves. A good mix if you wanted to start a war... "You wished to see me, Commander?" She asked, her eyes on the plain armor plating adorning the man's back. He was silent a moment longer, as though he didn't even hear her. The silence was beginning to irk the elf, till he looked over his shoulder at her. "You disspaoint me, Pandora." The elf tensed at his words, watching him turn to place his hands on the desk before him. His green eyes locked on her golden ones, the intense stare unbroken despite places where his dark brown hair fell loosely in his eyes from the bun upon his head. To avoid his eyes, Pandora instead looked at the intricate network of tribal paints on his face, marking him as part of one of the many clans that littered the tundra wastelands. She had heard once that the paintings told the story of their wearer, their glories in battle and the histories of their forefathers...with the sheer intricacies of his designs, she wondered a moment what his markings might say. He noticed her distraction it seemed, as he paced away from his desk to move closer to her. She didn't move, for fear that it might give away her intimidation. "I give you a directive and men to bring me the prince alive. And yet you return injured and without my men--" Pandora's eyes narrowed at his implications, as she knew they were harsh and hardly accurate. "They were barbarians from the caves, sir. Not men or trained soldiers. And how were we supposed to predict he would be traveling with mages? We were only briefed on the one." Her snappish reply earned her a stone-faced look, one that was hardly accommodating or kind. She swallowed hard, knowing that speaking out of turn could wind her up dead if she wasn't careful. In Nix, magic was more respected, but mages were still second-class citizens no matter where you went in their world. She was as good as a dog or horse to him, a creature to be ordered about and not to think for itself. Lesser men would have struck her. The commander instead only folded his arms and looked her over with a scrutinizing glare. "You whine like a child when I remember rescuing a seasoned mage hunter from a headhunter in the plains...Your better half swore to me you would redeem my kindness by obtaining the boy. So far, I think she was a liar." Pandora felt a shiver run up her spine at mention of her 'other half'. She knew the demon that possessed her would offer anything for power, including damning its host to the service of a warlord who was handed an army. "She doesn't lie...I know my skill and now I know what to expect. Next time, I will have the prince back to you." The man gave a her a long look before he nodded and walked back to his desk. "Good. To make sure the job gets done, I'm assigning you a partner to help secure and execute those he travels with." Pandora's eyes widened at the news she was getting a partner, but before she could complain, the commander was continuing. "Find out everything about their travel companions. Perhaps they can be swayed without violence if the right price is sent."

~~~When Rin asked if Vampires could live with out Blood she frowned. “ they need it or something like it. I personally make him a substitute in a form like candy.” She Stated not going into the detail that the candy even had Blood in it, but at least it was always hers. Ciel was grumbling that his sister didn’t love him and that he was gonna fall over soon, when Aiden kicked up his horse to be more level with his. At the motion to not tell Mercy he grinned taking the food and ate it in three bites when a usual session would take at least ten to eat it properly. He swallowed it quickly and grinned at the man who gave him food. “ thank you Aiden. “ he beamed since good was a way to his heart sometimes.
