A feather from Ma'at. The scales of truth and justice. Under the sands of time, glinting in the bright light of the sun. Re looks over these waves of sand, golden brown and hot as they are. And when the night takes over the dunes turn black and cold. The night brings terror and uncertainty and in many cases death. Though that is not something one should fear in these times. You will be brought to live with the gods and goddesses, that is if you can past one simple test. Anubis will take those scales of truth and justice and weight your heart against one of Ma'at's feathers. Should the side of the scale with your heart on it tip than forever shall your soul be doomed into the abyss and your passage to the gods shall be blocked. Though if your heart does not outweigh the feather so greatly than Anubis will escort you to the sanctuary of the gods. Though sarcastic and sardonic Anubis may be, his compassion for human kind is great. He is to pass judgment on those who have passed from the earth so it is not expected of him to be kind and benevolent. Though once you have passed his test than he shall show you the way. This is all hidden under the sands of time and what shall be figured out for yourself once your time has ended. And so we will start this story of a boy and a girl though little did the girl know what she was getting into. This is the tale of fates intertwined and a new loves first blossom.
Such a life. Such an odd and unbalanced life. A place where everything is balance. The sun and the moon, good and evil, even life and death. Everything was in balance. Though his mind was in a state of constant unbalance. Always thinking, always assuming and criticizing. No one could do anything right it seemed and he could not either. It was the way it was told to be however. A young man on his freshly painted trail of fate or so it would seem until one looked deeper and could see the cracks and lines of something so ancient and predestined that one could not possibly stray from it's course.
Him. A young man, golden of skin and strong of build. Shrouded in a white linen hood, a golden sun on the back of his head. A golden head piece that wrapped around his forehead, holding up the linen hood and giving away at his status. A linen skirt held up by nothing more than his muscular hips and a broach made of lapis in the shape of an ankh outlined in gold. His strong arms wrapped in soft bandages, black died cuffs around his wrists and a golden arm band inscribed with Re's name on his left forearm.
Underneath of his white hood you would find piercing blue eyes, sardonic and sarcastic of look though the occasional compassion and kindness one would hope for could be found. His hair, only but tiny pricks of golden brown could be scene. An ankh earring on his right ear and the dark outline around his eyes as was common these days.
Eyes squinted in the sunlight Ramzan sighed. It was going to be an interesting day. He knew it, in his heart he knew. He seemed to know somethings before they happened and that was just how it had always been. As he shifted positions, the scabbard that hung around his waist brushed his bare thigh. The handle in the shape of an ankh, the blade curved and sharpened to have a fine edge. It hadn't been used for a while now. He needed to spar soon. Those fleeting thoughts flew from his mind as he looked to the sky once more and murmured out a phrase that had been ingrained into his very soul from birth. "As your path across the sky never falters, so shall I not falter in all that I do in your name." He then added on his own words. "Guid me Re. I fear that my time to change shall be at hand very soon." As soon as those words fled out of his mouth he shifted his feet and body and strode off towards his new destination.
The Pharaohs palace, a magnificent and large place full of beautiful women and sparkling waters. It was a place that could be called merry and it carried the air of a care free place. This is how it had been since the current Pharaoh took over after his father. He had brought this land to peace and had worked hard to accomplish it. Though despite his work and progress there were those that would wish him harm and held on to a hope of dethroning him soon by turning his very followers against him. This is what Ramzan assumed that the Pharaoh had called him here for.
As the Pharaoh's servants showed him the way of which he already knew, Ramzan though deeply upon the political uprising those anarchists were causing. Cursing loudly in his thoughts, he brought his attention back to his surroundings as he faced a large entrance way covered by purple silken sheets. Upon entering, Ramzan walked to a suitable distance from the Pharaoh, his head bowed and he knelt before him on one knee. "My deepest apologies Pharaoh. I did not intend to be late but my thoughts on the matter of the..." He paused for a moment thinking of the correct way to phrase the cult in front of the Pharaoh. "The anarchists kept me at bay." An so Ramzan waited for a response, head bowed in respect though he knew the Pharaoh would be siting on a luxurious throne, a scantily clad woman on each side fanning him to keep him cool on this heat filled day. What he didn't know was that there was a girl in this room. One soon whom he was to meet.
((Hope this sounds alright and gives you a good idea of something to respond with!))

A sun filled day as the heat beat down on Eygpt, it was nothing new to the people who worked and played in the sun and sand every day. But for the select few things were a bit more cozy. Some would say that they abused their power others worshiped them as if they were gods. Isis was fond of which end she had received, even the name given to her you knew that she was of royal blood. Her father protected her, raised her and let her have what ever she wanted but what Isis wanted was to see the world. She just wanted to explore outside her cage. She was free to go where ever she wanted in the palace or the town but no further. She was getting restless as she got older and then her father let her start learning the way of the high priestess. Her father said that he would find someone to teach her more once her teachers couldn't help her learn any more. Now she sits in near her father in his main chambers as a man walks in, she was confused by him but she had learn over the years to keep her mouth shut. She looked at her father once the man was done talking "Ah yes High Priest Ramzan, I hope your travels have been safe" he boosted as he waved everyone out of the room. His business with Ramzan was a private matter but before Isis left the room he told her to stay. She turned back around and sat back at her seat. Once everyone was out of the room he turned his full attention to the High Priest "I have called you here on some very sensitive business" he started off "This is my daughter Princess Isis, I need you to protect her and teach her the way of the gods. She's eager to learn and have worn out all of the teachers I have found for her. I also need you to make sure that she is kept safe at all times...I fear that these anarchists are going to do more harm soon" Isis listened to her father talk as her eyes were trained on the one called Ramzan, she had heard stories about him and had wondered when she would ever get to actually meet him. Now her father was instructing him to teach her and protect her. She really was a little oblivious to some of things going on outside her home at times. ((Hope this works for you))

The Pharaoh's words shocked him. He had not known that he was training his daughter to become a priestess. He raised his head as he knew he should but did not dare look at the Pharaoh or his daughter as looking directly upon royalty was forbidden, even by him. As he kept his eyes averted he payed attention to the Pharaoh's words. It would be an interesting assignment but he wondered if she would be able to keep up with his teachings most who had come to him did not fare well in the end. There were secrets of the gods and special ceremonies that many seemed to be unable to cope with so a little mind washing later and they would forget what they had ever learned.
"Pharaoh and Princess." Ramzan began, his right hand closing in a fist as it held up the weight of his bare torso. "I mean no disrespect by my words nor do I dare question your decisions but if you wish me to take her under my wing than that means that you wish her to become a high priestess and as you know there are secrets that most would not wish to know. Are you sure you wish to have her endure the hardships that I must force her to commit on penalty of forgetting all she has learned about becoming a priestess?" Ramzan said this slowly and in a very respectful way. He did not want to sound as if he was saying that she was not capable of such a feat for that was not what he was implying at all. He just wanted to make sure that the Pharaoh had truly thought about this decision. He knew most of the secrets but both the high priestess and priest knew one more that was so shocking most refused to believe it.
While waiting for a response he closed his bright blue eyes and thought on the matter at hand. If he was to be teaching her than she would have to travel with him. The Pharaoh must trust him greatly to leave his daughter with him but there was no reason for him to not. He had fallowed him since the moment he could make decisions for himself. He was loyal and steadfast and those were qualities that he would always keep. He then hid a smirk that came across his face, for however brief a second. Most did not get a long with him due to his sardonic nature. He wondered how this girl would hold up. He could only see her out of the corner of his now opened eyes so he couldn't tell much what she looked like other than she must have her mothers looks.
((It is great.))

He looked at Ramzan after he gave his view on this assignment and then he looked at his daughter. He wanted to be sure that this decision was the right one but with one look at his daughter he knew that there was no better decision "I have...made up my mind and I'm sure that my daughter will appreciate all that you will do for her" the Pharaoh wasn't going to say aloud that he was afraid that if he didn't let his daughter do this that she would probably run away from him and never come back. "You will take her under your wing" and that was final. The Pharaoh got to his feet and left the main chambers.
Isis listened to Ramzan and didn't like what he was implying about her. She learned fast and loved to learn. All her teachers failed her and here he was saying that she would most likely fail him, that made her a little mad but then she heard her father give him no choice and that made her happy. Once her father left the room she got to her feet and walked down to him. She stood there waiting for him to get back up "I don't quit" she told him in a stern voice, wanting him to realize that she would do what ever it took to become High Priestess. She was going to become one of the best rulers that Egypt has ever had. She would be Pharaoh and High Priestess one day.

"Yes Pharaoh. I understand." Ramzan replied and watched out of the corner of his eye as the Pharaoh left. He heard the Princesses words and stood after she had spoken them. She was now his student so there was no more need for royal formalities such as kneeling before the. "I did not say that you would quite Princess only that many have failed and you have never under gone a teaching such as my own." He stared her directly in the face with his last few words and then turned away from her. His voice had lost the formality he had held with the Pharaoh and now it held a bitter quality as if he had something unpleasant on his mind.
"Go pack only what is necessary and meet me in front of the palace right after. We will be leaving shortly." His tone was hard and held and edge that meant do not delay for anything. He began to walk off and expected her to come quickly. He would not treat her any differently that any of his other students. If she thought that she was to be privileged even under his laws and the eyes of the gods whom watched over them than she was wrong. Her father may be Pharaoh but she was not the one who was considered to be embodiment of Amen Ra.
So he stood in the front of the palace, his muscular and golden skinned torso stood out against the pale bleached white stone of the palace walls. He waited patiently and wondered what the Princess would think of his change in tone with her. Her father did not tell him to treat her as royalty. He would protect her with his life and guide her in the art that she was to learn but he did not have to change his tone to respect her as greatly as the Pharaoh himself. He smirked ever so slightly, maybe she would go far. Ramzan could tell she held a spit fire inside of her that would prove very useful that is if she could stomach the truth about himself and the ways of the gods.

She was amazed at his boldness to look her in the face, it was something that she wasn't use to but it wasn't all bad to her. She nodded her head with no objections and left through a side door of the room. If he thought that he could push her around it wasn't so, she would prove to be a difficult student. It was really the only way she knew and she was sure that he was not going to be happy about it.
She walked into her chambers and packed a few things, it would be hard to leave her home but this was what she wanted, she kept telling herself. She wanted to see the world, learn new ways and to get away from her protective father. Ramzan was her ticket out of this place as much as she would miss be adored and admired. Once finished Isis made her way to the front of the palace with her satchel and stopped short when she saw Ramzan standing out against the stones of the palace. He looked some what normal and handsome but she shook that from her mind and walked up to him. "Ready" she told him with no sorrow in her voice even though she was leaving the only place she knew for an unknown world. However her heart did ache, she hadn't even said good-bye to her father before she left and that made her feel as if she was a bad daughter but she would let the feeling pass on its own as it should.

With out a word and only a slight nod of his head he took off, his strides even and unfaltering. It might have looked to an ordinary person as if he was not paying attention to his surroundings, nor to the women walking with him but his eyes were constantly observing for anything suspicious. As soon as they would be out of the city the sooner he would feel better. The tightness of the buildings and the crazy feelings he got while being surrounded by so many humans almost made him sneer even as he tried not to. Such an ugly world it could be. He witnessed a man beating his wife as she begged for mercy and a blind beggar crawling and whimpering for a small loaf of bread. At the second sight Romzan stopped at a vendor near by and bought what would constitute as a nice meal for anyone of a lower class standard. He knelt down in front of the man and whispered a scripture of Re into his ear. As his walked away, the food he had just bought was now being shoved into the beggars face, praises of thanks in between bites and breaths.
The limits of the populous area were soon found and he took a step into the pure and unfiltered sun, dunes of sand lay out in front of them, seemingly endless. He bought three full water skins before turning to the Princess and speaking to her, "I hope you brought some money because it would be wise if you were to buy one yourself." He turned around and watched the slight breeze trifle with the sand off in the distance. Their destination was not very far but the heat was great this day and he didn't know how slow the Princess was going to be. There would be no beasts of burden where they were going. He had bought a water skin for her but another one would be good to have for later travels.

Isis was not fully prepared to see what went on just outside the palace but she took a deep breath and followed behind Ramzan. She kept her eyes in front of her but gazed about through the corners of her eyes. She couldn't help but feel something pull at her heart and as she watched Ramzan give some food to a beggar some thoughts bounced around in her head. But she continued on at her pace behind him and stopped just short of where he stood. "Of course" she said when he mentioned money. "My father would not allow me to leave unless I was fully prepared" she told him except for the fact that she didn't know what went on outside her comfortable home and then Isis wondered if he treated everyone like this...well except his father. "I packed as you instructed" she then said and wondered if he had gotten the hint that she learned quick.

"Well good. Than you have passed your first test." A small smile, however awkward it might have looked on his face, formed. " Hurry now we must be off if we wish to beat the sand storm to your new home."[/color] He began to walk, that odd smile still on his lips. He wondered if she understood what her 'first lesson' had really been. The beggar, although not planned, had been part of it and hopefully she realized that as high priestess she should face these problems and as future Pharaoh as well. If she wanted to take her father's place than she was going to have to work hard to make this world better for even the lowest of class.
"It is not quite far but stay close. These sands have a way of changing with every minute. They will be far from the same the next time we pass through here." He was also going to be putting her in her second lesson. This was more for his benefit than her own. Ramzan wanted to test the Princesses endurance and ability to endure while being chased by something dangerous such as the sandstorm that he could see off in the distance by the clouding of the air and the taste in the wind. He was going to have to teach her that when they got to her new home.
So he showed her the way and walked with a quicker pace than before but there was still a fluidity and grace of someone who was not worried at all and who was quite comfortable in his own skin and that he was despite the circumstances he knew he was to face soon. He thought though as he wondered about the Princesses name. "Do you know why you were named Isis?" He question, his tone was serious and not mocking in anyway. He was genuinely interested if there was a good reason why. As the goddess of nature, magic, and fertility she was well revered in this land.

She nodded her head and turned to look out at the sands wondering what her first test had been but didn't dare ask him. She just went along with it and would think more on it later once they got to 'her new home' as he had put it. Though to her she would never have another home, any other place she went would just be that-a place. She looked at him one more time, his smile didn't quiet seem normal but she just gave a small smile back.
She started her fast pace back up and she knew that if she wished to keep up with him she would have to change the way she walked otherwise she was going to get tired fast. He had longer legs then her but she would manage, she wanted to prove him wrong and not fail. "My name?" She inquired and wondered why he wanted to know "My father told me once that I was named for the Goddess Isis. That I was the embodiment of her and that I would do great things just as she had" she said this knowing that she would show her father that she could be just like the real Goddess Isis even if she wasn't. That was on of the reasons why she wanted to train as a High Priestess, she wanted to learn more about Isis and the world of the Gods.

The embodiment eh... That was surprising thought not so much. After all she was the daughter of the Pharaoh. He smiled though now it had a mocking air to it though it wasn't necessarily towards her. "Than you will have much work to do to keep your namesake proud." He had much work to do with this girl than. It would be quite fun to see her limits and to watch her grow. If she as the embodiment of her namesake than she would have quite a good possibility passing his tests. His pace picked up some than after he took a short swig out of the water skins. The storm was picking up pace again and the winds felt angry. The gods just loved to torment him didn't they. Didn't he already have enough of a twisted fate. "We need to more quicker. It seems the gods wish to test both of us." Ramzan said no more after that as he concentrated on where he was. It wasn't much further now but he could feel the winds on his back begin to whip and the sand begin to get angry. A small silhouette of a well and a building could be seen. Luckily he had covered the well before leaving this morning. And now he could hear the winds but the door was only yards away. He grabbed the Princess and before she could protest, he swung her in to his arms and sprinted into his small home, shutting the door right as the storm front his home. A low growl of a chuckle rose in his throat as his oddly colored blue eyes scanned his ceiling though truly his was thinking of the sky. "Well how was that for a close call Princess."

She looked at him oddly and opened her mouth "What do you mean by that?" But her question went unanswered as he had picked up his pace and she practically had to sprint to keep up with him. She could feel the early signs of getting tired but she didn't want to make him feel bad about having to bring her along so she kept to herself. Listening to his words she wondered why the gods would test him. But that too went unanswered as she felt herself being swung and then very quick movements followed.
By the time she was able to get a clear thought they were inside a building, she didn't have a reply to his comment. She just situated herself away from him. She had just realized that he touched her without her permission and even though she was his student now that was still uncalled for. She was a princess by birth right and she would bring that to his attention soon. "Yes...close call" she said softly and averted her attention away from him to look about the small chambers.

Ramzan began to walk around, setting the water skins in an area that was sectioned off and that was obviously the cooking area. The building was also sectioned off into multiple rooms. He pointed to the one on the far left and looked at the Princess. "That is your room. You may go and make what you will of it but I want you back out here quickly as there are some topics I must speak to you about right away." He then turned from her and began to clean up the main room as he had not been expecting company. There were three distinct areas in the main room. A kitchen area, a lounging area, and an entrance. There were three separate rooms as well. The Princesses room was decorated for that of a student and not a princess so it was spars though comfy with many pillows and a book case that held scrolls that Ramzan would be assigning her to read. The other room was Ramzan's own personal courters, and the last room was where they would be working most of the time, an extensive network of scrolls and bound parchment lay there. It was a priceless room that he guarded fiercely.

She was glad to get away from him for a minute and walked to where she was instructed. She placed her things in one part of the room and looked around. It wasn't anything to spectacular like was use to but then her eyes fell upon the book shelves. She started to scan all the varies scrolls that were there and was amazed at what he had. But she tore herself away from them and walked back out into the main chambers. She stood there staring at the room trying to form a valid opinion about Ramzan and his place. "What do you wish to discuss?" She finally said but didn't move from her spot.

Ramzan was fiddling with what one could assume to be a writing instrument, tapping it on the small stone table in his kitchen. He didn't say anything for a moment or so after the Princess had come back into the room. Finally he walked out of the the cooking area and stood in front of her. He aligned and attempted to organize his thoughts before he spoke to her. "First of all there are some rules that you must follow while you are learning under me. I will be assigning you readings out of the scrolls that I am sure you saw in your room. There will be a specific deadline to finishing them and you will be tested on what you have read. It doesn't matter how busy with anything else you are. You must finish the. Also starting tomorrow I will be testing your knowledge of what your other teachers have taught you. Let's just hope that you are not behind or else you will not be getting much sleep in the coming weeks." A small smirk graced his lips as he looked at the Princess. She was a beautiful women and definitely her fathers daughter. "I will assume that you now of the anarchist that have been plaguing this era of peace. I am going to teach you how to wield a weapon properly. We can't just exercise our our minds and not our bodies. The last rule is do not go into my room unless I call you" He pointed at the door that was next to her own than turned around but stopped, his head turning so that he could look at her once more. "Also Princess, while under me your ranking as a princess means almost nothing. You are my student and I shall not give you any more benefits than I have given my other ones. Though your father did assign me to protect you so I will do that with my life just do not expect me to change my way of teaching to fit your life style." With that he turned around completely and began walking towards the room that held his library. He walked inside and locked the door behind him. She could do what she wanted as long as she stuck to her room and the main living quarters. She would be able to come into this room soon enough.
He could hear the sand storm dying down. Soon he would be able to go outside and check how his well was fairing but before that he needed to sit and think. But he knew he didn't have time to do so, so instead he grabbed a parchment off of the shelf and unlocked the door coming out. There was no time for brooding of any sort. He had a student to teach. "Princess!" He called out and waited for her to come to him. He was going to be giving her, her first assignment.
