It was an era of darkness.
A time where two gods controlled the mortal world.
One presided over death, the taking away of souls.
The other presided over life, the granting of new souls.
Mortals looked to these gods to protect the order of the natural balance between life and death.
But one day that balance was upset.
Two households of protectors of the deities began to war against one another for power
and death gripped the mortals under a veil of destruction.
The mortals prayed to the gods for guidance an solution to this mysterious growing terror.
The gods gave their response by gifting their protectors’ special holy gifts, creating warriors to defend the balance.
These warriors were divided by both sides of the spectrum and the mortal world soon discovered that a war between gods had begun.
Would the world stay warped in it's dark abyss?
Or would there be some light of hope?

It was a dark cool night, the moon sitting just behind the dark smoke clouds that rose above the village's walls. The sky shone a bright red, cast with embers and soot, much like the ground bellow. It was as if the sky were bleeding, casting the earth in shadow.
For beneath the chaotic of the world above, a town was under attack. Fires rose from buildings, bodies littered the torn and bloody debris filled streets. There were screams of terror erupting from everywhere and those of pain as blade and claw met skin. But the invaders were uncaring to the gruesome scene and simply darted through the madness to their true target.
They were after the large palace upon the hill, the home of the Shinoshi clan's Head.
Within that building, guards were mobilizing as well as the warriors of the clan. Though despite their efforts. They were severely unprepared. Though protected by a strong barrier and fortress, the invaders still got through and attacked, an unlikely feet seeing as the wards and fortifications in the wall were meant to withstand an attack for days. But their defenses had failed them and now everything was doomed.
The swift ending they had been expecting came all too soon, when the front doors disinegrated off their hinges and in came groups of armed creatures. The guards recognized the creatures to be demons, specifically the Kitsune. The Kitsune soldiers tore into the guards, picking them off like mere insects at their attacks.
But one of these waiting warriors had fled the room at the sight of the Kitsune, for they knew perfectly well they'd be no match. Their footsteps carried down the dank halls of the palace. A set belonged to a cloaked figure who followed the dimly lit path of the lanterns towards what they hoped was their father's room. The other thundering came from a few of the Kitsune, who chased after the person with swords and claws ready.
The cloaked person knew running wasn't the most fool proof of plans, but it wad the only shot of survival they had. They could either run and hope to either find their father or lose the Kitsune in the chase, or die a painful execution when they caught them.
The lesser of two evils was to run. They couldn't give in just because thing looked grim. Finding the Shinoshi house's head was a mission that could mean life or death for the people involved. They couldn't allow the Head to die atthe hands of these mongrels. They would sooner die then break the sacred vow of allegiance to family they swore years ago. It was an oath of protection, sealed by conviction so strong it might very well be the death of them. But they couldn't count on that, not with Kitsune only a stone throw away.
They came to a break in the path, two identical halls that could lead anywhere. The cloaked figured looked both ways before they looked back. The Kitsune were not far behind, not visible but audible. They took in a breath to focus before they took the hall to the right. They ran through the dark till they came to another break. They went to take a left when they suddenly almost smacked into more Kitsune. They back pedaled and darted away toward the right. The hall was open but they could hear more people coming. They picked up the pace till they finally reached a large door at the end of the hall. Not questioning the find, they ran up to the door and threw it open. It was the central courtyard, meaning their father's room was only a run straight across to reach the main chambers.
Their breath was catching and growing short, and they could feel pain growing in their body as they ran across the moonlit garden. It was only a little further, they could feel their hope rising as they went up. Finally they reached the porch and knocked the screen door open.
Shock took over at that moment, when they broke the door and found themselves in a room covered in blood and bodies, including that of their father's.
They ran to his side but the man was long dead from a large gash in his back and throat. Their hands griped the fabric of his robes beneath their fingers just as the first few Kitsune came through the door.
"Kill her." One Kitsune snarled and another crouched and moved toward the figure that was frozen I. agony. Before he could lay a hand on the figure, a voice rang out over the room, a quick order that made the Kitsune skitter back.
"Stand down!" Footsteps came into the room from a darkened room in front of the hooded figure. The person that stepped out of the darkness at first made their heart sing with relief and joy. It was their older brother.
But when they saw he was smiling and his body drenched with blood, their father's sword in his hands, the figure convulsed in painful sorrow.
"She's mine." The man snickered before using the tip of the sword to shift away the hood.
The hood fell away, revealing a young woman, who was glaring at her brother. The Kitsune looked shocked but the brother that joined them only gave his sister a chiding look.
"Don't look so angry Sayuri-chan. You must have sensed it was me who started this rebellion sometime, ne
?" He said with a dark chuckle in his voice. Sayuri's angry glare didn't fade and she looked ready to strangle her brother where he stood.
"How dare you--to your own family?!" She shrieked, tears beginning to dribble down her cheeks. Her brother gave her an irritated look, before his hand connected with her cheek.
From the forced she landed on the floor, a small line of blood now coming from her mouth from where her teeth had cut into her cheek.
"Don't you talk to me about Family! My Family betrayed me the moment you were born, you worthless bitch! I want none of you! You were all weak! And from my family's weakness, I dared to do what needed to be done, to take that senile old fool from his seat of power and revolutionize the way the Shinoshi clan will operate." He glared down at Sayuri as she pushed herself back up, her eyes still full of tears as she looked up at him with a helpless look of anger and confusion. How he loved to see her so submissive for once, perhaps he could let that look linger as a servant for the rest of her life instead of killing her now like he planned. He smirked at her and leaned in a little closer to her.
"You know, if you swear your alliegence to me now...I might just let you live. How does that sound, Sayuri?"
Sayuri glared at him for a long moment before she finally pursed her lips and spat in his face. Ichiro recoiled, wiping her spit away while Sayuri sneered at him.
"I'd never serve a coward like you!" She snarled, finally breaking what little control her brother still had. She saw his fury rising as he reached for the sword and knew he was going to kill her by the crazed look in his eyes.
"Then die!" Sayuri squeezed her eyes shut before he could bring the sword down on her and waited for the pain of the sword being brought down on her head. She waited....but nothing happened.
She opened her eyes when she heard shouts around her but found herself in a different perspective than she was on the floor. She looked down at herself and saw she was in a uniform, the one her father made the servants not apart of the family wear. She froze as she looked up and saw from the doorway she hid behind, she saw her body on the ground, partially absconded by the folds of her kimono. She could see blood all around her body and the nausea of the scene made her quickly look away.
"She's dead, Ichiro. We kept our end of the deal and now you are the last of the Shinoshi main family." Sayuri looked back at the scene and saw her brother, staring down at her body. The thing that made her freeze was that he still looked furious.
"She's not dead!" He roared to the nearest Kitsune who recoiled from him.
"What do you mean?" One snipped and Ichiro kicked over Sayuri's lifeless body to show them her face. The Kitsune hissed and Ichiro growled, "See! The color in her eyes is missing. She used Soul Passage." Sayuri froze and instantly started backing away from the door. Of course, her brother would know she soul transferred, even though she hadn't meant to. To be honest, she had forgotten about the ability till she almost died. Perhaps her fear had triggered it.
But there was now time to worry about it now, she had to get out of their before he found her. While moving back, Sayuri stumbled over the body of a guard, causing his sword to clatter against the floor.
The other room grew in growls and she heard her brother shout, "Get her!"
Sayuri ran for her life through the halls of her home, the long legs of the young man she had taken the body of, carrying her quite far. She darted away and made it to an exit into the burning city, but not without chase from the Kitsune. They chased her from the city and into the forest that surrounded her home. She tore off through the rock and trees that once seemed so familiar. Now they were casting terrifying shadows at every corner scaring her that a Kitsune might be hiding in one of them, waiting to kill her. She was begining to feel her legs failing her and her soul was feeling exhausted. It was taking everything she had to keep hold of the control of the body but she knew this couldn't last forever. The terror was in where she would go after she lost her control. Her true body was dead and she couldn't return...she was lost...
Her head snapped in the direction of the sound of water. There she could use the water to make the Kitsune lose her scent. She darted for the water till she reached the river. However before she tried to cross, she was forced to slam into a halt.
The river was raging with power after the rains only days ago, making it not safe to cross.
Her only chance was to hop rocks to make it across. She took a few steps back before she ran and leapt to the first rock. She stuck the landing but the other rock was farther away from her. She went to leap to it but suddenly felt an arrow pierce her through her back and she let out a screech of pain, right before she lost her step and fell into the water.
The water was bitterly cold and rushed her away violently. Along the way her body was battered and toss against rocks and open water, causing her to swallow water. But she stayed lucid enough to always rise above the water to breathe safely. But she couldn't fight the raging water that dragged her to the towering waterfall not far off. The woman hardly saw it coming, not till she was dropping through the air that mixed with the water. She found fear tightening her throat and the pain causing tears to drain from her eyes. She was falling to her death, and she could possibly die horribly. The bottom came too quickly, throwing her body into water that felt like cement. The force of the impact knocked her out and she heard something snap. She floated along with the now easing stream, her battered body finally washing against the shore of the large lake that formed beneath the massive drop and continued into a small river.
She lay there bleeding and alone in the middle of the mountain range that was near her home. She was breathing however and had chances of survival, only because of her determination.
She very slowly crawled her way from the water, dragging her broken body over to the tree line to hide. She didn't get very far and had to rest against a tree to rest against the pain of moving.
Suddenly a horrid pain caused her body to double over and convulse. Quite literally her soul was hurled from the body and onto the ground. The price had been taken on her soul for the body current condition. Whatever damage the body took, her soul took as well.
She was completely bloody and suffered from quick a few gashes and broken bones, including a hole where the arrow had peirced her body.
As just a soul she would survive but the body she used was most surely close to death. She looked up and saw the body of the young man she had taken over. He looked worse than she did and completely in pain. His head lulled to the side and fixed his now paled eyes on her.
Sayuri felt the pain of sorrow filling her as she looked at the poor man she had dragged into this, the innoccent she had just killed to save herself. She crawled over to him and tried to lift herself but had to rest against him to stay sitting up.
"I'm so sorry." She said in a sob, though tears didn't fall. She couldn't cry as a spirit. She touched his cheek lightly and the man qinced but smiled.
"It's okay, Sayuri-Hime...To protect you I gave my life...that's all that matters..." He gasped suddenly and Sayuri saw he dying. Quickly she gave him a soft sorrowful smile, wishing she could spare his life. She leaned into him and whispered a small "thank you" before she kissed him. The young man died there shortly after. Sayuri felt him die and let it claw at her heart that she had killed him. She fell back at that moment, the sorrow and pain taking over her and dragging her soul into exhaustion.
She had survived but just barely and now her soul needed rest to heal....But she lived....The last thought was comforting before she sunk into the darkness of her unconsciousness.

Kaiya awoke from her dreaming in cold sweat, her blue eyes wide and burning with intensity. She had just had a terrible dream, one of fire and destruction, of pain, blood, and death....She curled herself into a small ball, her legs close to her as she shivered from the memory of the dead man's face. Just why would see a vision of such a thing? Did Life have some plan in this?
She felt something wet on her cheek and raised a hand to it. It was a single tear that had fallen from her eyes, something Kaiya hadn't experienced in a very long time...
No sooner had she pulled her hand away, she looked to see her door was open and felt a presence at her side. A strong hand took hers and she looked over to see Ryuka there.
"Why do you cry Kaiya-Hime?" He asked, his voice soft in her ear. She simply stared at him, her fear showing in her eyes.
Ryuka stared back at her before he put his arms around her in an embrace.
Kaiya nestled into him, her face burried into his shoulder as she trembled in fear. He let her stay that way and awaited her to speak. "The visions...they're getting worse." She whispered to him but Ryuka was silent. There was nothing he could really say to comfort his Hime. He knew she didn't want false promises or pity, she just wanted comfort...
He held her under the moonlight that poured in from the open screen, his grip on her tight but not constricting. There Kaiya stayed, not wishing to leave the comfort of Ryuka's embrace, seeing as he was the only one who could give her relief.
This man who hardly knew her, and she hardly knew him, could protect her. She trusted thatt wholly. Not just by his words or actions, but by his being...his soul. There she could sense a power, a ferocious need that would always be for her...
It gave her comfort so that she could sleep easier.
She fell asleep like that, in his arms, though she knew it was taboo for a young woman to sleep around a young man. She just didn't care at this point, simply wanted him to protect her from the fear and pain and from the dreams of the wounded man....

Katsuo was furious, not just his normal little heated anger, but white hot fury. His ears were back and he could feel his fangs in his mouth aching from where his jaw was clenched. His silvery eyes were narrowed into slits and burned into the man that sat infront of him like some kind of regal prick.
"what do you mean the deals off?" Katsuo quite litteraly snarled, making Ichiro frown at him with equal vehemence.
"You heard me. Your end of the bargain wasn't met. So, I'm not paying you." Katsuo balled his hands into fists, the iron strong nails digging into his palms.
"What the hell do you mean it wasn't met? I got my clan to slaughter all of your filthy people. You're currently sitting your ass in that chair as Shinoshi clan leader because of me. AND you will pay me for that service."
Ichiro simply batted his eyes at Katsuo, as if his obviously serious threat in his tone held no water.
"You're mistaken. Not all of them are dead. My sister is still alive and well."
Katsuo scoffed at Ichiro. "Alive? The young man who harbored her soul took a plunge over a waterfall. She's long dead by now." Katsuo was growing tired of arguing and was ready to just kill this little SOB. He was a self righteous, human brat that thought he was invisible and untouchable. But Katsuo would easily show him strength was only skin deep..
Before Katsuo could muster up the drive to actually tear Ichiro's throat out, a Kitsune came into the throne room, his eyes wide.
"She escaped the body, Sir. The pupil was colorless, like the other eyes." Katsuo's face fell, his clenched fists relaxing from the shock. How the hell could that girl live from a tumble like that?
He looked back to see Ichiro looking serious, almost like he was thinking very hard about something. It made Katsuo hiss a curse under his breath, before putting a hand on the sword at his waist.
"I'll kill her. Add an extra 20,000 to my current offer and I'll make sure the bitch is dead myself." Ichiro looked to Katsuo and gave him a smirk.
"Make it 40,000, if you bring her to me alive." Katsuo saw the dark, vindictive nature of the request and couldn't help a smirk himself.
"Done." He said as he turned to exit the still blood stained foyer.

Kokoro looked from the window of the top floor of The Great Tengu Bathhouse. She looked down from its place on the summit, her nose wrinkled slightly as she watched the beginings of red and black hovering over the nearby village beneath her immense mountains. She gave a a small giggle as she stuck her tounge out and tasted the blood in the air. There was quite the little battle taking place...Better buisness she suposed if the demons were attracted closer by the scent of blood and flames in the air....
(((((KAY this RP is open to as many people that want to join it. You can either create as many characters as you need from either one of the families (Ukiyo or Shinoshi), a demon (Dragon, Tengu, White Snake, or Kitsune), or a person not within either family (Regular person, Samurai, Ninja, yada yada). This is set in Fuedal Era Japan and is open for any kind of interaction with the characters. The character Bio's are here:
skyamoebarealm.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=characters&action=display&thread=173&page=1
and your bio should have the same setup.
There are multiple characters that I've included but not all of them need someone to interact with...Just one. I need a character to find Sayuri's spirit (it's visible but see through like she's a ghost). It can be male or female, any Race or family, just she needs to end up at the Tengu Bathhouse. Perhaps your character has a debt with Kokoro or something, anything will work, just get her there so the story will progress from there. People can jump in at any time and I'm leaving it open as far as storyline, just the bathhouse is an important starting point. Okay I'm off my soap box, hope ya'll have fun. Happy postin!)))))
