Twila was lost when he suddenly called over this big box with wheels and she blinked at it much like a child would a bohemouth. She hadn't been near a carriage before, only seen them from the clouds. The horse upfront drew her attention as it pawed the ground and shifted. The animal was quite large and looked interesting. She wanted to go over and touch it or perhaps get a better look at it, but she was supposed to be pretending to be human. That and the man was motioning for her to enter the carriage. She nodded in thanks to him and stepped up into the carriage, revealing that she didn't have shoes and yet her feet stayed very clean. She sat on the seat and fidgeted with smoothing out her dress to keep her eyes from wandering in curiosity. When he asked about where she lost her escort, she decided to be a little honest. She said, but she shook her head. "He's very busy currently and I couldn't pin point exactly where he would be. The temple will be the best place to meet up with him...It's very close to my home." She said hoping that he wouldn't question her too much, she didn't like lying after all. Her eyes then fell back on her strange new escort. This man was very different than the angel males. She expected mortals to be different but, not exactly what she was experiencing. He was a person that was trying to hurt someone else and yet he was being nice to her? It didn't make any sense to her. "May I ask you something sir?" She asked wondering if she could solve the confusion quickly.

Jack noticed she didn't have shoes and he faked at that thinking she had perhaps lost her slippers for temple some where. When she went on about her escort being too busy his frown deepened, "I think your escort is a lazy ass who should be shot for letting a young lady wander into the red light district past dark. You could have been raped..." he said in a very serious tone. He glanced out the window but looked back at her when she asked to ask him a question, " You may ask but your not garrented an answer miss." he said in an honest tone. ----------------- Lucian sighed, glad to be rid of the brat, she was sweet but he could only handle sickly sweet for a short period of time. The girl made him get headaches when she tried to please him by achieving minor things, it was annoying, if she were a pet of his, he would have shot it already.

Twila sat up a bit straighter when she sensed the change in his mood. Her eyes narrowed ever so slightly at his talk about her escort. She knew he didn't know that he was speaking about her mentor but she wouldn't take that sitting down. Lucian would never do something that would harm her. Besides she didn't have to worry about a mortal harming her since she could deal with them if they did pose a threat. She had more to worry about with this mortal than she ever would Lucian. "You shouldn't speak that way of someone you don't know. That's rude." She said, since she would give this human the benefit of the doubt. She was however a bit put off by his answer about her asking him something. If he wouldn't answer her about why he was acting so differently towards her, perhaps she could find out more about him from one of David's books. "May I ask your name then?" She asked not seeing why he wouldn't at least give her that much.

He hesitated, he didn't know about giving his name in case she was later a witness in the criminal investigation. He doubted they would take her word for anything since she as a little rich thing, probably going to by dying for attention. Smiling he nodded to her question," Interesting question...Jack. Jack is my name."He smiled," And you might be?" He asked in a similarly curious tone, he wanted to know he had to remember when the time when he got caught came about. In case she attributed or perhaps her father was a detective? He didn't know but he was wanting to find out, just in case.

Twila's brows furrowed a tad bit when he didn't give her a last name. Well the name was useless if she didn't have a last name. There were probably hundreds if not thousands of Jack's in the universe. And pictures weren't included in the book keeping so she would have to have the full name. Well perhaps she could ask, but she felt the human might get uneasy over it. He asked her name next, mostly out of what she guessed was courtesy. "My name is Twila, like the constellation." She said with a warm and friendly smile. She wasn't worried about telling him her actual name, mostly because the mortal would probably never see her again to begin with. That and he had no use for it. The name might sound odd for a human name but it was indeed the name of a very tiny grouping of stars off to the north. She wasn't sure why the goddess chose that to be her name, but she didn't question it. Infact she rather liked it. "Now I can talk to you, without having to call you sir all the time. It's much better, I think." She said, mostly because she felt it odd to call someone younger than her sir. It also felt a bit demeaning too but that was probably just her own angelic pride speaking. Besides she wanted to ask a few more questions if she could. "So Jack, if that place with red lights is so dangerous why were you there? I can't imagine that rather mean lady was any fun to talk to and it doesn't look too nice there." She asked since she felt like it. She had a sense he wouldn't answer that or probably not in the way she wanted. She was slightly curious as to why anyone would want to hang around such a nasty and dark area at all. She wondered if he would fess up to wanting to harm that woman. She wasn't a nice person but it was still wrong to kill someone. It went against the goddess's teachings of love and compassion for others.

Smirking slyly he looked at her. "Forgive me. You seem annoyed to know my pet name... My apologies... My name is John Druitt- My friends call me Jack... I live over in Kent, across the Thames- Miss Twila. Interesting name you have- I'm sure your mother and father are worried you might be a night owl since you are named after constellations..." He gave a slight nod, he had an identity for sure but it was odd he felt oddly compulsed to confide in this child though she was hardly a child to him. "As to why I was there with a whore is rather self explainable. Trying to cleanse the world of one nasty thing claiming to be human..." He gave her a stern look, knowing she wouldn't understand his point of view. He had been- up till recently a school masters assistant- however they let him go because they thought he was gay- because he showed no interest in girls- he worked with children- that was just sick. He found out he worked with adulterers and he hated his job so he quite and he still found himself upset for calling them friends so he was trying to help clean up the streets of their atrocities they had made from bright girls who could have been something rather than commoners of the red light slums.

Twila hadn't expected him to change his name suddenly, in fact she now felt leery over wether or not this was his name too. But what really stumped her was that he read her annoyance that easily. She thought she was good at keeping emotions off her face. Apparently not. She shook the thought off and continued to listen to his explenation. So John was Jack, but only to friends...And Jack-who could be John to others- lived across the river, the big one he called the Thames. And Mr. Druit, as she felt she might address him as now, was a man of great articulation and calm. She could read it from how he had spoken so far and the way he could say his view of this woman, or whore-- Twila knew what a whore was but not exactly how to classify them. She only knew what they did, sleep with men, and sometimes women, for money. It was a supposed crime here for the mortals but at the same time it was frowned upon by the goddess's teachings. Women were supposed to be pure and faithful, same standards went for men who often cheated on their wives with these women. It was a sad thing really that someone would turn to a life of sin for something like sex. Now she couldn't claim to know anything about relationships or even the basic feelings of attraction, considering her spirit was very young when she died. But she still didn't see how needs could drive someone to dishonor themselves. Jack's ideas also were a miss for her, where he said he was cleansing the world of something vile. That woman wasn't human in his standard...but then what was? Human's were flawed creatures that did things out selfishness and often times on spur of the moment desire. They innately sinned but they still held so much good that could be harnessed in them. Some used the good, others found ways to ignore it. It was hard decide who was truly wicked and who was truly good. That was a decision to make between the demons of the lower world and the goddess above. Not the decision of an angel or a mortal, specifically this man. Did he realize what he was doing could wind him up in a very bad place? The goddess frowned upon killing almost completely, especially when it went against the fated plan of ones life span. It was bad enough to warrant banishment from an afterlife in the heavens. Which left only hell and the demons to claim that soul. Demons were very brutal and twisted beings. They spared no pity on the souls they recieved and would go out of their way to see someone damned to their company tortured and tormented for the rest of eternity. Twila's first run in with a demon was an experience she didn't care to repeat, even if it was a very low level demon. She didn't like the sickening chill it gave her or the fear it put in the dark recesses of her heart. It was one of the solidifying factors she chose a path of light over darkness. "I assure you, Mr. Druitt, she is very much human. Wether or not you agree is your business, but by the goddess's standards, she is still a soul worth faith till the day of her death and final judging." She said, not in a pious way or even a mean way. She was just stating what she had been told, the code she was made to follow. Her lips had since fallen into a light frown and her eyes portrayed her conviction in what she said. As he had his strong views, she had her's on the matter. But all in all she had gotten a look at a view that was very different from her own. Back home everyone jsut followed the rules. If it went against the goddess you didn't do it or question it. However, here it seemed people did as they wanted, be damned the consiquences. "You're an interesting man..." She thought aloud, since she was still unsure what to really think of him and the situation. She couldn't hate someone she hardly knew and she still didn't understand why he felt so strongly about harming someone. She actually was getting anxious to have a look at his record. Hopefully that would provide her with some kind of answer.

"Human...Right a person who is pretty much a living thing awaiting its death to be banished to eternal hell to settle at the bottom of a pool of brimstone and fire to be played with by vile creatures of the nightmare realms and beyond...Faith isn't anything in the red light district- that place is for the soulless...I want you to remember that. If you take anything from this meeting with me in this small life time of ours at least take that bit of information...Children are innocent, the young at heart are some times... Those whom still have a chance at going to heaven are human-The others whom have sin up to their eyes in their own self dug graves...Those aren't too human anymore we are simply paying rent to stay alive to avoid our awaiting hell..."When he started with a simple word his voice was almost a question then it turned into a teachers voice as he told her his absolute views on it- if she was going to tell him the book answer he was going to give her the abstract right back to counter her dispute. He had already judged himself and knew he was going to hell but he didn't care as long as he drug a few people down with him. The deep conversation was making his night better- he never had time to talk to people between his work and his 'work'. When the girl had called him interesting he smiled, looking out the window. So some one thought him interesting, how queer.

Twila's head tilted slightly at his initial word, the way it sounded like he was wondering about it. She watched him as he continued, her entire being more like was listening to him. The tone of his voice, his words all of it sank down into that curious part of her that wanted to understand this human. What she found worried her, but at the same time enticed her to listen more. It was an explenation of life for the damned it seemed, the way things really worked for people here. The side of life she never experienced and the angels back home never spoke of unless it was in destain or disgust. It was no better it seemed for Jack, but in a very different way. Paying rent on a life that had no more meaning than living to see another day... To disregard the good and be only submersed in the bad that awaits you. What kind of life was that? A life without hope, faith, or anything...just an empty existence, or so it was to her. Without much of her knowledge her face had fallen, the mixed swell of emotions playing out in her eyes. He turned away from her and smiled. It confused her terribly. And the worst part was she couldn't think of what to say. It was if the words had staunched it. The firm belief and pride was all iced over as his words floated through her mind. She needed to respond with something however out of her feelings getting the better of her. "What a way to live...It's very sad." She said, looking down at her hands. They had since clutched the fabric of her dress, casuing it to wrinkle a little. "And you, Mr. Druitt? You speak as if your one of these people with no hope or faith in salvation." She said softly, mostly because he earlier confidence in speaking was dwindling. That and this seemed to be the closest thing she had gotten to understand why he would want to hard the woman earlier.

He was smiling at her softly at her response about how terrible it was. Taking a deep breath however he responded to her last question," Yes, I find myself to be damned as well...So I am making the most of my pathetic life to try to help right the wrongs I have helped justify in my life as well as make a point. They will see in a few days, I will make my point very clear as I have tried the other four times... They will finally see that I am serious." He said as he looked threw his mental plans on what he was going to send in a letter to the constable, he knew that was the man to get his idea to. This girl couldn't have been a constables daughter, too innocent, maybe a scientists or a teacher perhaps, since she seemed rather curious.

Twila couldn't say she did understand what that would achieve but she was also not in his mind set or of this society. She couldn't say she'd ever understand since at the end of the day she went back to the heavens and never had to worry about human's again, not till the time came that she would be involved with them again. But here and now she was a part of a piece of it and she needed to at least attempt to offer what she could. "I hope it's really what your looking for..this point." She said, since she couldn't say much else. She wasn't by any means saying "yeah sure just go murder who you want and have a nice day" it was more along the lines of she wanted the see something happen for him perhaps. Maybe it did bother her a little to hear someone call thier life pathetic and she wanted him to actually take it for granted. At least he had a chance to live...She blinked at the thought that just as quickly escpaed as it had come. What had she just thought? She quickly made herself return to reality mostly becasue the carriage had shifted and they were nearing the central plaza where the large temple was. She could feel its energy tugging something inside of her and for a moment she felt severly homesick, almost longing for the happy bliss that shielded her from thoughts like Jack's...

He smiled for her apathetically, knowing she wasn't understanding much of his thoughts so he just decided to stop. "Well, I'll pay for the cab miss Twilia, it was a pleasure meeting you and having an actual worthy discussion from the normal cesspool of stupidity now a days. I hope your days are blessed by the goddess and her teachings and I hope you make a difference on the world. Have a good life miss." When the carriage stopped he got out after he spoke and paid the cab with the whores' money, then walked off back towards another cab that would take him to his home again. He knew he had failed and fell behind in his plans for the evening but he always had tomorrow to cut the slut up.
~------------------------------------------~ Sighing when he took a few souls that were lingering he finally landed near the temple and went inside, to see if that was were Twila had gotten off too- he knew she was a light minded one so she would go to very obvious safe places. Little did she know he was requesting her to stay for a few days- here in the cesspool of mortals she happened to before found amusing. He was disgusted by them and their habits but he had no right to judge with his habits of lately. He had recently found some stress relief in killing the mortals to collect the souls that were over due. All he ever did was collect and sit in boring meetings anyhow why not take some pleasure in your work?

Twila was once again lost at how a man could live like that and have such a way for words. She let her head incline in a small bow, a tiny good bye for this mortal she couldn't understand. "Good bye." She had to admit though, that was the first time someone had stumped her on her views. It rather annoyed her a little as well as made her feel much like a child being schooled. She swallowed her feelings and made her way up the long white stone steps into the beautifully designed cathedral. It was a beautiful building crafted to let liht in from all angles to illuminate a large statue of the goddess that stood in the front of the area. It was surrounded by two inner courtyards and palces for her priests and sholars to study. Twila felt the light air around the building soothe her apprehension no sooner than when she stepped up to the always open doors. She wlaked inside and breathed in a breath of the insence and clean air. Her eyes flickered to a candled alter and then over to where she saw a few people kneeling in prayer. Jack's words came back to mind at the site of the mortals and instantly her face fell into a perplexed expression. She was zoned out, concentrated on the mortals opinion rather than the world around her. She didn't even notice Lucian's presence near her, something very odd for her.

Casting his eyes about he saw Twila walking in, she however over looked him which made him smile. Coming up next to her he did a formal angel greeting since she seemed a bit out of it," Sister, May the goddess bless you... Was it as easy as you thought? or even what you thought it would be like?" He asked curious however his curiosity was stemming from her disconnectedness hoping to make it respond with displeasure if she enjoyed it he would send her back but if she was confused or in doubt he would make her stay on her mission here. He oddly found pleasure of late in making things miserable.
~------------------------------------------------------~ Jack got in and scribbled a few pre letters to see how he wanted to word somethings, he found a few things interesting since his mind wouldn't get off the girl from that evening... He kinda would like to see her again- only he knew that wasn't going to happen. He was a very dark individual thought that was only because of the point he was trying to prove. If not for that he was a rather nice man, in a cheery mood when possible and always happy to help some one out. Lately however he was secretive, closed in, grouchy even- a temper that flared too easily. This girl wouldn't want to deal with him, she didn't deserve that.

Twila nearly leaped out of her skin at Lucian's voice. Her charm even flickered, causing her to glow a moment as she let out a small squeak of surprise. "Lucian--blessed be to you as well, brother." She said though her smile hadn't returned. She tried not to look so conflicted but it was getting the better of her. She didn't know just what to say on this human's behalf. "It was different...he was very different." She looked up at Lucian and she tried to reason out exactly what she should do to dismiss these thoughts he had given her. It was very bad to think of anything but what the goddess taught. Very very bad for someone who was suposed to act by her will. "Lucian, with mortals....is it wrong to have faith in them?" She asked him since she was feeling a bit lost at the moment.
