The price on that boys marks was impressive, especially if it wasn't an exaggeration. He could see why his father wanted him to have those marks. "And so they are straight Lyrium? How does it not kill him?" He asked, having already had to deal with Lyrium as a Templar. They used it discretely, depending on the circumstance. He preferred not to get involved with it, but it seemed you had little option these days with mages getting stronger and stronger. ~~~ Maraas didn't understand all of what he said and focused first on the bit about thanking the Maker for his station. "I believe we make our own luck from our choices and actions." She said not really believing in this Maker. She thought the whole idea of an omnipotent deity was not for her. She preffered to think of the idea that everything and everyone in the world has a nature, and all these things come together to form a proper order. You were not an individual with needs but a part of a "whole". The Qunari placed religious focus on the divine moral structure of the world, not divine beings... But she was in the process of going back and replay his words in her head. She however froze and looked at him with suddenly wide eyes. "Mage? You are a mage?" She paused a moment, looking him over before she suddenly got close to him, almost too close. She actually raised a hand as if to touch his face but refrained from it, as if realizing she was in his personal space and backed off. "Sorry. I have not seen the face of a mage before." She said since the Saarebas in her home were chained, masked, and had their lips sewn shut. She knew the opinion that they were dangerous and to be controlled because they couldn't control themselves, but she found honor in them that few had. She bowed her head a bit a major sign of respect from any Qunari. "Bas Saarebas, I had no idea...They make your kind sound like monsters to the young...but you are very nice and respectful. But our cultures are very different......" She said, looking up at him, not sure what she should say.

Fenris realizd too late that he had sliped up in his words, his face was pale as though the blood had fallen from it, his eyes wide and almos fearful when Maraas repeated the words that were rather dangerous. She got too close almost and he hought she was goingto hit him, he didnt flinh howeer he looked at her his eyes coudlnt hp but seem stubborn in his place his markings making him look ferice. However when she bowed and labled him human mage he nodded to her. " please dont tell anyone...its differen to be a mage here Maraas... Here i will be hunted and killed- wrongly accused even, back home- in Tevinter, i am respected for my control and magic... Ferelden is muh more dangerous for me." He whispered to her hopeing she would hnderstand and help him keep i a secret since he had already slipped up he neede to be much more careful. ------- She shook her head," no not exactly, its Lyrium and some old elvhan magic that makes it seem grey until activated the it glows a beautiful blue and its almost etheri- however its dangerous- he is more dangerous with those then with 50 years and blood magic and a few demons... He isnt weak however he is weak minded and easy to trust." She said describig how she viewed thing only, she was assuming he was still liek that. She had no odea how he would be acting here after a bit on the run she had no idea what he woudl resort to either.

Maraas looked concerned when he whispered to her a secret about his life being in danger for being a Mage. Maraas never thought that a Mage would be in danger when he didnt even do anything wrong. She was scared for Fenris in that sense and didnt want to see him hurt. "I promise not to tell, if you promise to let me repay you by protecting you. You helped me so I will hell you as eat as I can." She said with a proud look. She wasn't intimidated by looks and she could stand his rather harsh look. She didnt know how Mages functioned really but she knew she could stand up for herself. Her honor wouldn't let her bow easily. ------- Caden nodded, urging the horse forward to catch up with hers. Her description of the Lyrium giving her charge power enough to keep him alive but not the guard to, made him assume he might be easier to find then. But also harder to catch if he really intended on not going back. "He will be easier to spit then. The nearest town near the ports is due west of here. Maybe a days travel. Someone must have seen a man with strange markings."

He smiled at her pride showing and how she respected him still, he nodded in agree ment and sipped some of this drink lightly. Today was a mess already and hew as getting strange looks from a few poeple still. With a sigh he stood up and looked at Maraas," Lets move on- I think we are making these Ferelden's uncomfortable." He went to walk out the door however some on was coming in at the same instance and ended up smacking Fenris's face with the door. His hand went to his face in pain as he hissed his breath out between his now clentched teeth. He glared at the person on the other side who was laughing about the servent getting hit. His free hand was on his staff in a seconds time and he had hte blade pointed at hte mans' neck and he was glaring his noce bloody, Green eyes on fire. "You dare insult me...I am no slave Fereldan." He however pulle dhis blade back when the four men behind him drew thier blades looking tense. The man who was the start of it was smiling still and looking at the elf who was about eye level with him. "Look elf- scram. I just got off duty and its time to drink- or would you rather I arrest you like I do the other useless trouble makers?" Fenris growled and looked over his shoulder at Maraas just as hte man in armor looked past him at the looming Qunari there. He smilrked and offered her to go first- if she intended to kil this man he found no resisting ideas to it- or his men- they oppenly challenged them they coudl get what they deserved. The man looked at the Qunari and his face went stone and he pursed his lips," So you brough a cat to a mabari fight- how expected of an elf..." ------- "You would be surprised how many people forget them...They seem him as an elf- trash here- and hopefully he is behaving an disn't flaunting his abilities about. However lets get there- I'm curious to see now if he did indeed head that way." She said urging her horse faster from the trot it was in into a run along the road as she was anxious to find the boy. She however glanced behind her at the templar, she kinda liked having compitent company for a change.

Maraas got to her feet and followed much like a loyal pet followed its master. She was by no means a pet, but to most Fereldan's, a Qunari's loyalty was much like that of one. She saw the scene go down with the door and instantly when the men laughed at Fenris being hurt, she frowned. It was rude and she didn't like it. When Fenris reacted however, she wanted to face palm. Did he not look at the man's armor? Could he not see that he was sure to be followed by men with pointier weapons than his staff? She wasn't one for picking fights with stupid Bas...but this man was annoying. When he threatened Fenris, her ears pricked and her features smoothed out to completely to almost completely emotionless when she glanced at Fenris. Her eyes however showed that she was done playing with these idiots. She walked forward very simply, not drawing her weapon and very quickly kneed the guard in the gut, the force of her blow actually denting his armor, before she head butted him, knocking him on his ass breathless and disoriented in a few seconds flat. She drew her axe then, the heavy blade creaking as she flashed it to the men still left. "Touch him and my soul will taste your blood." She said, speaking in her best tone though her words were rather rough sounding because of her anger mixing in with her control. She took a stance in front of Fenris her look more menacing than it had been earlier from the wide eyed curious, pint sized Qunari. ~~~ Due to her spirit in travel and their little to no breaks, they made it to the outskirts of the town in enough time. Caden knew the area a bit. He had been there on a case where a mage was trying to flee on one of the boats. That was a nasty kill that ended with more than one casualty. He pulled his horse to a stop when they got close enough in, knowing the people were funny about horses on their town roads that weren't labor horses. "We continue on foot. There are a few places to ask around. The shipyard of course, the inn and then local authorities in case he found a little trouble...Which would you like to try first?" He asked since she was the one with charge from the family. His senses weren't picking up much in the area but he had a feeling. He possessed a bit of a gift for imagining the way things played out, a sort of thinking ahead that allowed him to at least take these hunts in a new direction. He looked around him and knew the boy was smart enough to know he'd be followed but perhaps dumb enough to stay in port a day for rest....Most first time runaways didn't have the slightest clue how to hide efficiently. It made them easier to catch of course but also harder to find alive as well.

As she stepped past him he watched her brutally beat the man with only her hands and he was downf or the count making his associates step back and looked like they might wet them selves making him laugh. Then men bent to pick up the leader of them adn dragged him back by them, grumbling about not wanting anymore trouble. Fenris stepped past Maraas adn put a hand on her arm with a smile," Come then- they are done and I'm sure they need a drink by now. Lets be on our way." He said smoothly as he looked at her politly then cast an almsot mocking glace at the men left. He lead them along the side streets seeing a few vendors nad looking at their things but nothign that caught his eye so he didn't lingure long sice most were looking at Maraas as if she were some kind of monster. When they were out of the town he frowned," Does it bother you? When they look at you like that?" Fenris asked wondering if she was unhappy with the looks if she even noticed them at all even. ~~~ They made good time but the horses started lagging, when he explained htat they needed to go by foot she had no problem, She hadn't even fully stopped when she jumped off her horse easily onto her feet as her horse came to a stop a few feet ahead of her and it stood there waiting to be lead to its place. Her horse was well trained- another reason she brought it from Tevinter with her. "Authorities woud be the best place ot start- I'm assuming the ship he came in on is already long gone and probably knowing a Tevinter vessel isn't properly documented. Shipping yard is a waste-Inn is possible but he is smart Templar. Don't let my description full you. He evaded an entire company of men, myself, and his family and the entirety of the hold he lives to board a ship wher ehe wasn't known. He isn't dull witted as I'm sure you were thinking." She said as hse looked at him with a hand on her cocked hip with her usual words of harh truth and opinion, however she smiled at the end," Besides I'm sure your smart or your commander woudn't send you with me after meeting me." She handed him a compliment to be sure he didn't copletely hate her sicne she was brutely blunt too often.

Maraas didn't like the show of weakness the men gave her. It made her angrier in fact. She however felt Fenris touch her arm and she sheathed her axe. "I didn't want their yellow blood on my blade anyhow." She said in Qunlat since she was a bit angry at the moment and couldn't think of how to translate her words properly. She allowed herself to calm on their walk through the small market. Her blissful look of calm returned in mere moments, even as she was stared at like she just ate the head off a kitten. Fenris was kind enough to ask about the looks and she gave him a light smile. "To bother is to assume I care about the Bas..." She said before she gave a small shrug, continuing her pace as she looked ahead again. "I'm used to the looks...They were common back home." She was honest with him on that regard since the Qunari didn't take nicely to an oddity that went against the natural balance. Most felt that she herself was a contradiction to the Qun, therefor making her untouchable, a Maraas... The name stuck when she received it, mostly because she was just happy to have a place. Somewhere was better than no where. "And you? You seem angry that they called you slave. Elves are not well respected here..." She said just to let him know in case he didn't. ~~~ Alright, so it was incorrect to call the boy stupid but he could think that he was naïve perhaps when it came to the way things functioned out in rougher society. Where he was now, mages were killed if they were considered a danger. A Tevinter and a mage mix would be that dangerous combinations for most people. However he sudden compliment left him actually offering her a raise of his brow to her hands on hips look. Seems Caden was learning more about this woman the further along they went. She was a strong spirited fighter and he could tell already she had an attitude that went with her pride. He was sure they could get along, since she seemed to be a realist and not an optimist, like most of the bloody Templar initiates were. "Understood...And if we're being that honest. He wouldn't have sent me with you if he didn't think you were capable either. Now let's go have a chat with the locals..." He said keeping pace with her as not to seem more suspicious despite the seal of the order on his armor. He hated such obvious things, but wearing them was mandatory, as a part of his duty. People looked at the pair as they moved, most giving Caden odd looks and Luka even weirder looks. Some smiled, kids seeing Templars as some sort of heroes the closer they were to the circle...even if that was completely false in most regards... He walked with an air of pride but when they reached the guards in charge and saw the commotion over a cage nearby. He tried to stop a guard but he blew past him. Finally he caught one by the collar and stopped him. "What's going on?" "Last night a prisoner escaped. We don't know how but she broke into our armories and with her accomplice." Caden blinked and watched the soldier storm off, his brow furrowing. "They said her so you can guess they aren't talking about your friend..." He said, not wanting to bring up information in front of people that didn't need to know. He needed a captain of their guard to speak to anyways.... The man was nearby he could see but was surrounded by men. He seemed to be yelling at a guard that looked ready to pass out.

Luka smirked t his words and took them well, they walkedthrewtown only she hardly noticed the looks she got but when a few guards where throwing a hissy fit she watched as Cadan did his work and found it was a she who had escaped. Frowning at his words she nodded and thy headed overto the captian who gave her a look before turning away from the guard who was rather pale, looking to cadan she wondered how he was going to handle this one. She was curous to see what would happen if he even mentioned her being from tevinter if her accomplise was her boy- however that didnt sound like him unless he judged her fair- whom verthe prisooner was. ------- He nodded already understanding that," yes I know. However so we are clear Marass i don want you to keep me out of a fight- im not a flower i am strong too..." He said as they moved on. Fenris wasnt too sure why she wanted to keep him from a fight but he also didt know if it was just a coinsident that the men found her a greater threat because of what she was. He didnt know or care- as long as he got to help her ou things would be fine.

Caden eyed Luka briefly before he moved towards the Captain. The man was still yelling at his subordinate and Caden could only pick up some of it. "How dare you toss anyone in a cage without telling me first! This is on your ass. Who knows who that Qunari was associated with--your lucky I don't--" he was stopped when Caden approached and he got one look at him and instantly his face twisted in annoyance. "Great, now we've got Templars here." He huffed before shooing his subordinate off and looked to the Templar and Luka. "Welcome, I suppose you are hunting someone Templar. Look we don't have anyone in our cells and haven't seen any suspicious mages. We have enough problems with our guard making a mockery of this port..." Caden nodded trying to appear sympathetic. "I hear you've had a problem with a Qunari..." He frowned instantly and the guard looked like he went pale. "Oh Makers breath...she wasn't an apostate--" "No no. I was just curious. I was told she robbed you with an accomplice?" The captain looked relieved but shook his head. "Yeah. Stole a few things with some damn elf." Caden looked a bit surprised, mostly because it was the other way around most times. Qunari weren't known for leading, more as followers here in Ferelden and expensive ones at that. Mostly they were hired muscle. "An elf?" "Yeah a tall pale bastard. My man guarding the cages said he saw him earlier outside the cage, talking to her. said he was a foreigner. the man at our door said he was with the Qunari later to rob our store house." Caden raised a brow, trying not to appear all that interested. "Did he have wierd scars?" The captian gave a confused look. "How the hell would I know? The men said it was too dark to get a real read on what he looked like." Caden didnt like the attitude but continued. "And what did they steal?" The captian looked annoyed now. "Lyrium and a priceless axe we took from the Qunari thug. Probably stole the damn thing in the first place." He snarled and Caden gave him a disapproving look before he let the captian go back to barking at his men. "Stupid ignorant--" Caden muttered before he seemed to remember himself and looked to Luka. "Sounds wierd. Do you think your man might have helped a criminal?" He asked with curious look. ---- Maraas looked to Fenris when he told her she should let him fight too and she sighed. "Alright, sorry I didn't let you. I'm used to working alone. Besides do you know how to melee?" She asked since he was a Mage.

Fenris looked at her and smiled," yes I do, i got a blade placed on my mages staff to endure I could protect myself from hp close combatants. Its served me well many times." He said making it clear that he had used the bladed end before to her so she wouldnt think him weak. -------- Luka smiled at the man as he went off and asked wuestions but waited till Cadan spoke to her," ask him what the Qunari was improsioned for- if it is my elf then if he saw it wrongly improssioned he could have freed her, lyruim sounds like a mage item to take, im assuming the weapon was the Qunaristo begin with... I'll just ask." She said takin a step or two around Cadan and looked at the man with an almost sultry smile on her lips," captian- what was the Qunari improsioned for? " her voice was a bit more femanine sounding just the. As she was persuasive to a T, howeverthese Fereldens were all dogs, all thy usually wanted was to drink, fuck and feed. Sick if you asked her but men were easy to figure out- however ae was wanting to test a templar- she had yet to test that link in any situation because she handt been on a trip with one as of yet but she was curious who her new partner was, perhaps he was a worth while associate or he could be acting...

Maraas blinked at his explanation, her brows raising. "Alright...then we will have to fight some time to see your power yes?" She said with a small smile before she tapped her lip in thought. "I do not see why someone would want to hurt you. Is that why you have those scars?" She asked, motioning to the place on his chin and down where he had his marks. ~~~ Caden watched her sultry little performance with the captain though it made him pause a bit. She was convincing, he would give her that, but most women were to a man. How could any man not pay attention to a woman that was trying for attention? He noticed the captain's face softened a bit and he was looking at Luka with a bit more consideration than he had with Caden. Better for them, he thought, but he had to wonder what she thought about her little trick with persuasion actually working. "She started a fight in our inn. Broke another Qunari's jaw. Then turned and beat the guards responsible for stopping the fight. Vicious beast." He muttered before he blinked. "Why so much interest in the Qunari? Are you hunting it? It's accomplice?" He asked though not taking his eyes off her. "Not really. Just curious." Caden answered, just to be sure Luka didn't say much if anything about needing his answers for anything other than a curiosities sake.

When Maraas pointed ot his markings he frowned, shaking his head," No these aren't scars... They are markings burned into my skin- to make me more powerful- they were a rather painful gift from my father. And people will want to hurt me becasue I am from Tevinter alone- being a mage just adds to it." He muttered the alst part a bit distainfully under his breath. He had sen a lot fo things in his life time- from mass deaths- blood rituals and even clean magic duels- he had seen his share of horrors. It changed him and made him scared of Blood magic, of dmeons and the fade. He wasn't a fan of even meeting a demon, that thought utterly scared him. ~~~ Luka smiled at hte explanation she got whichw as a good answer however at the questions afterwards her smile didn't slip but her knife hand twitched in slight annoyance. "Indeed, Just curious. Thank you captian for satisfying my curiosity." Her voice was well played as well as her smile and motions as she waved her hand behind her as she turned and walked off towards the inn- she knew Cadan would follow- she however was still finding it funny to tease the fereldens'. " Now to find the other Qunari or find some one who saw the fight to see if he was there... If he saw it and judged it right- he could have motive to help the prisioner." She sadi as hse knew Cadan we behind her.

Maraas looked at the marks as he spoke, her eyes not leaving them till after he finished. She looked at his face and saw that this information was sensitive to him. She hadn't meant to bring up something bad, but she felt she needed to understand him if she was going to travel enough with him. "Then it is good you are powerful. We will need it when we cross this next few towns..." She said looking ahead of her, since she only assumed they could run into more trouble. "A gift from your father. I have one too." She jerked her thumb at the axe. "His Asala became mine. It is why I wanted to become a strong fighter." She said before she motioned ahead of her. "Then if you are in danger here. What are you seeking? You traveled a long way. I have heard of Tevinter, only stories and none of them good. Only yours about the garden was happy." She said though didn't say it in a negative way. She never judge many things before she experienced them. ~~~ Caden looked around him at the inn, since she seemed pretty keen on looking there first. Seeing as it was morning not many were milling around. But the inn keeper seemed to have his bar tender on duty. He went up to the counter and the bar keeper looked him over. "Didn't know you fellas could drink..." He said, sounding tired, but Caden gave a light smirk. "Not here to drink and don't think I'd care to. I was wondering if you saw a fight last night. I'm looking for a bit of information on who got involved..." The bar tender gave him a stoic look. "I saw plenty of fights last night. People beat the hell out of one another when they are piss drunk." He said with a sarcastic inflection. Caden then motioned to Luka. "My partner and I are interested in a specific fight. One between two Qunari..." He said and it ended with the man giving a cluck of annoyance. "Oh yeah, I saw that nasty business. Had to help haul the other Qunari upstairs. Bastard is mean as a bull but the little one was meaner. Knocked him flat then took on a few of the city guard. Poor thing was just standing up for herself...Mind you she got the hell out of here last night." He said before he then glanced at Luka. "What about you pretty miss? Surely your not looking to deal with Qunari. Much too dangerous..."

"Whats in the next few towns? Are they known for being dangerous or something?" He asked her wondering what she meant by that- he was looking to avoid trouble and attention after all if he is recognized, thought he doubted he would be- he would be in big trouble. Meaning she would get dragged into it as well but she could handle herself. When she mentioned soemthing from ehr father he smirked," Yes I see- it is impressive indeed. I can't even pick that thing up I think its too large...I have much smaller arms as well." he sadi joking that he was much smaller then her- even if it were true. "I want to see the world. I-I want to make freinds, meet new kinda of people." He said to her wondering if she understood him in this. He didn't want to go into his past with her but he truely wanted a freind he could trust. He thought he had that for the longest time but it was all a lie tog et closer to power like moths to a light. He was nothing but a light to them- letting hem bask in his power and influence- he didn't want it if they didn't actualyl care. He left it all after all easily. ~~~ Luka smirked at the bar tender as he called her a miss, she had never been called that. "Thaks but I can take care of myself. I will however take a drink. Its going to be a long day- and I can handle a Sten myself." She said lableming a leader among Qunari troops- she had taken a few down herself in the small dispute wars that entered Tevinter by her keep. She was very careful with whom she allowed to know of her past but it seemed appropriate here. She did give Cadan a smile as she lifed the drink to her lips in a toast almost before downing it in one go. She put it on the counter with a coin that was more the the valuie of the drink but it was for the information as well- it made it so they would be less likely to talk about them when they left. She stepped away and looked to Cadan," Shall we go? I'm sure we have some tracks to get to...This Qunari sounds interesting."

Maraas nodded when he asked about the next few towns. "Always expect danger. People here are not as accepting. Some people don't like strangers.. Also bandits..." She said with a small wave of her hand as if it were all common knowledge as she listened to the rest. His small joke about the axe made her smile and bite her lip, since most couldn't lift the damn thing. It was made for a Qunari and so they could carry it alone.... His goals were however simple but pure. It made her respect him but also worry for him at the same time. "That is a nobel cause I will support." She said with a nod before she stepped over a pot hole in the road. "You will make friends here. You are smart. Skinny but strong I assume. People like pretty faces too. You will be fine." She said since the elf didn't have much obviously against him for those around him to see. ~~~ Luka's interaction with the bar keeper made Cadan have to take a step back and think that this woman could very well be a distraction for him this whole way. She interested him at least. He couldn't say that for many people, especially not after... He locked that memory of Brielle away back up in its dark little corner. He somewhat let his mind run on blank till he was spoken to again, seemingly interested in a gap in the floor boards. When she wanted to leave, he looked up at her. Her comment about the interesting Qunari made him nod. "As does your charge if he helped her." He said giving her a strange mix between a curious look and a smile that he hadn't seen from her before. It was interesting to say the least how she could tread the fine line between abrasive and feminine. Many female Templars couldn't accomplish that so he wasn't used to it in a sense. As they went towards the horses, he looked to her with a bit of a complacent look. "I never caught your name you know. They just told me to look for the foreigner woman in the market...." He said, since he had yet to get a real introduction. "My name is Cadan, Templar by trade for the time being." He said, hopefully not being too forward.
