Jaeger sat looking bored through most of the speeches, his attention on the auditorium instead as he looked for signs of suspicious activity. He found none, nothing that really drew his attention past the people there. It seemed like this year was full of new students, ranging in ages, but most in their late teens to early 20s. He felt oddly out of place in all of it really, since he had been with the hunters so long. He was homeschooled his whole life by them and never really got involved in school settings like this. It was an odd feeling to be a part of a group of so many people...His attention was drawn after the speech to the girl he remembered from earlier, his roommates sister. He saw her sitting by herself. He went over to her, a rather friendly smile on his face since it seemed she would be around a while. "Hey, you're my roommates sister right? What are you doing here by yourself?" He asked wondering why her brother wasn't there for a mandatory meeting. ~~~ Stella watched in some calculation as all the people spoke, trying her hardest to appear to be focusing when really her mind was reeling. Every squeak of a chair, every whisper about the way so-and-so looked, a person sneezing in the back ground, the smell of a person's bad breath near her, the feel of the breath of the person behind her on the back of her head. It all was a deafening mixture of smells and noises that made her head begin to ache. She wanted out of there and fast, but it seemed that the people presenting just wouldn't cut her any slack. Even the student council, the lot of put together pretty robots, talked their ears off. Her nose twitched however when one smell hit her, a forest smell that she had never smelled before. Her attention went to trying to find it, that was till her roomate, Liza, drew her attention away. Stella looked at her as she spoke about this party and it being fun. Stella had considered not going, that she would instead stay in and listen to music and maybe sketch. But what kind of roommate would she be to let the girl go alone. Besides, she didn't mind Lixa. She was a bit more social than Stella liked to be nowadays, but she could respect that... "I mean, I'll go if you are going. I'm not sure how it will be though. They seem pretty strict here." She said, looking at the teachers and finding all of them look so stiff and serious. One however was looking completely unamused, his attention elsewhere and uncaring. She rather felt like that man at the moment, caught in a rock and a hard place that her wolf like senses couldn't handle. When the dismissal call came, most people got up and started heading back to change or get ready to go to this party. Most wanted the free food and a chance to meet people, while others just liked the idea of a party that the college would allow. ~~~ The student council building was an older building on campus that was once the deans home when the place was first founded. It was an older building that looked to be placed somewhere around the 1800's with colonial structures still in tact. Some said that it was the home of an old german shipping baron before the college bought it, but the history was never really looked into. In fact it was a home Luke's adoptive father built after they chose to settle up north after all the other attempts to settle in America turned out to be false hopes. He grew up in the old home, his pack and family there with him. That was back when it wasn't uncommon to share a large home with multiple generations and family friends or tenants. Luke could almost feel the old memories hit him, despite the changes like modern windows, electricity, and plumbing were added. He kept his eyes on his pack, the people setting up for this party that he never really much liked. It was just another baiting way to weed the mutts and hunters out, not really to keep the student populous happy. A few other faces of the pack were there tonight, Diana and Gray, the married couple that had graduated recently and moved farther north to Canada were visiting along with DJ and Octavian who were down further south and a younger woman, Emily, who had gone to school in another state. That was only pieces of their pack, but the Forstner group was always a large one. Most had left when Luke had taken over control and joined other packs, but those that remained were good people and were helpful to their pack. When people began showing up, Karin and Kass were the lively welcomers while Belle worked on getting the music going on something good with Emily and Octavian. Luke hung back speaking with Gray over a few things that were going on lately. Seems Diana had been told a friend of her's, a mutt named Percy that she was trying to bring to their pack had been killed, viciously mauled by another wolf. The news was disturbing, since it meant a pack or mutt out there was out attacking others, something that wasn't necessarily against their laws if the boy didn't belong to a pack. It was sad but not their concern till it threatened their doorstep or pack...

Liza's nose crinkled slightly as Stella basically said she would attend the party with her. She could tell the girl didn't seem too optimistic in regards to how much fun it would be but it was clear that Liza didn't care. She just wanted to go and be a part of something, experience new things. Wasn't that what life was all about after all? “Awesome! I don't imagine it'll be too lame. I mean, my sister told me that she had a great time at the part when she came here.” Liza shrugged her shoulders some, trying to hide the mix of emotions that attempted to boil up inside her as she spoke of her sister. A warm fondness and a cold lingering sorrow collided and nearly made her tear up but instead she pushed it all away and smiled brightly once more. “We should probably get going though and so as to get ahead of the crowd.” She stood and placed her hand on Stella's shoulder for a moment as a sign of reassurance before scooting her way out of the aisle. The last speaker had just finished and it seemed most of the new freshman were talking amongst themselves in excitement. Liza wanted to get a head start as the idea of getting some free food was music to her ears, or rather her hungry belly.
It wasn't a far walk to the student council building. It's architecture was magnificent and old, much like the rest of the campus. Liza found herself gawking slightly, her head tilted up as she was walking towards the building's entrance. She tripped on a stair and squeaked, reaching out and balancing herself on a poor Stella. She let go quickly, a blushed with an abashed smile. “Oh, I'm so sorry! I'm so clumsy.” She rubbed the back of her head and looked for some sign of forgiveness before the pair made their way into the building. There was a small crowd already present and students were trickling in more and more as the minutes went by. Music was pumping in the background and the smell of food wafted, occasionally, through the group of people. Liza recognized a boy and girl when they entered who had been up on stage at the orientation. They were bright and welcoming to everyone who entered. Liza's smile rivaled their own as she passed them and she nudged Stella's arm slightly. “Everyone seems so nice here, don't they.” She might have seemed naive for saying such a thing but Liza enjoyed looking for the best in people. After all, if you were always looking for the worst, isn't that what you would always find.
~~~
Finally, the wretchedly annoying orientation was over. Nilo felt a small wave of relief roll over him when he stood and stretched upwards. Finally, he could leave this echoing menace of a room and do what he wished with the rest of his night. Still, a smile did not grace his features and he waited patiently as a few students and faculty walked past him. He made to leave his aisle when a hand gripped his shoulder. The crowd was still too thick, permeating the room with scents and making it difficult for him to recognize the one belonging to the hand. A growl was caught in his through when he turned to snap at the individual, only to find it to be Alwardt. His lips curled into a frown as he fought back his revulsion of the individual in front of him. The smug grin on the man's face was enough to make Nilo' angry. He had a feeling that his night was about to become as useless as his day. Ah, Nilo. Just the man I was looking for!” Alwardt stated with an all too pleased expression. “I forgot to mention earlier that one of the other teachers has taken ill and we need another chaperon for the student's party tonight. I did volunteer you for the position, I hope you don't mind.” His eyes glittered with amusement and Nilo choked down the desire to rip the man apart. “Of course not, Sir. I appreciate the opportunity.” Nilo replied in a monotone voice, his eyes displaying his anger, which of course, only seemed to make Alwardt's amusement grow. “Very good! I think it would be best for you to head over to the student council building then. The party has already started. It's bound to be thrilling!” Alwardt nearly sang and left Nilo to burning a hole into the back of his head with his eyes. It didn't seem that the hunter had a choice though and so he made his way to the party.
The crowds were an annoyance to Nilo but he figured it wouldn't' be too bad an opportunity to assess the student body a bit more. His eyes bounced from student to student, hovering over those student council member who had been up on the stage. He hadn't introduced himself yet and wasn't planning on making a big deal bout his presence, sticking to the sides of the rooms he walked through. There were very few teachers here, most seeming to mingle among themselves while giving the students as wide a berth as possible. His assessment of the party so far made him realized that the teachers were there simply for show or if anything got too out of hand. There really was no overt policing of behaviors. Nilo's aloof presence did draw some attention from the students that passed him and he just looked them down until they passed by without speaking to him. He wasn't here to chit chat, at least not unless someone really peaked his interest. However, the student council president had caught some of Nilo's attention and his green eyes trailed the boy through the room, making note of who he spoke to. He wondered if he would have him in any of his classes.
Glancing up she saw soem one she kinda remembered seeing, and definitely smelling this morning. Sia rose a brow at him shrugging lightly looking not so bothered by things. "I'm registered here as well, and I think he had a meeting with the Dean- said it was important." She said her tone not too bothered. "Jaeger right?" She asked in return trying to get things straightened out- such as a name for a face- and a sent.
Jaeger was interested to hear that she was registered there as well, since he thought she was younger. Maybe she just looked young for her age? He however blinked when he heard that her brother was meeting with the dean. Why was that? Was he already in trouble? He shrugged off the questions that weren't his business and instead gave her a raise of his brow. "Yeah." He said in response to her asking his name before he ran a hand through his hair. "Alright. Well are you going to the party? I'm sure you might want to look into your brother though." He said letting his words form a bit awkwardly, though he made no move to correct them. He said what he meant and wouldn't change that. ~~~ When Liz talked about how nice everyone was, Stella gave a nod, though her eyes did trace back to the room. "Yeah. I actually wasn't expecting that." She said as she looked at the pair at the door and then the rest of the people in the room. There were more filtering in, students and teachers alike, some looking odd while others looked to be blending and mingling well. Noticing quiet had fallen between them, Stella cleared her throat and decided to be a little more social, to just say anything. "So you said your sister went here. Are you from the area?" She asked, trying to be social with this new girl who was going to be her roommate for the next year. She needed to be nice after all, to show she wasn't such a hard ass. She wasn't trying to be standoffish and rude. She just had...things that kept her from being able to make friends easily. She knew no one would ever understand that, so she had to blend a little better. Besides, Liz seemed nice and didn't make her feel judged for being quieter...so what could the harm be in being nice back? "Um, sorry was that too personal?" She corrected, wondering if the question was too forward. She was worse at this small talk thing than she thought... ~~~ Luke felt eyes on him, though didn't acknowledge them especially since he knew better than to. He was a born predator and knew that game well. The minute you gave up your knowledge of the other, it turned to a mess that he didn't want. No doubt it was another curious bystander or someone making eyes. He got that a lot, more than he liked, but he was not opposed to allowing people to stare. He was used to it by now since he was well aware that there was something in the wolf gene, especially as an alpha that drew people to you. It was why his family was in sync so well, catering well to their jobs rather than allowing this get together to fall to a chaotic mess. But this staring bystander would have to learn that it was impolite to stare...especially at someone that could feel their eyes... His nose twitched and like a dog scenting a deer, he lifted his head and looked in the direction of the door. He gave a puff of air when he saw a pair of freshman boys getting lippy with Karin while trying to bring 'water' into the party. He could smell the alcohol from there, especially when it was so blatantly obvious... He went over to the boys, making his presence known by getting between them and a flustered look from Karin. "I'll give you one chance to hand over the alcohol or I'll report you to a supervisor. Is expulsion really worth this boys?" The boys looked annoyed but they handed over the bottles and turned around, leaving go and complain somewhere else no doubt. Karin gave a low growl, one that made Luke give her a softer look. "Don't mind them--" "I can handle myself Luke. You don't have to baby me." She said with a bit of annoyance before going over to the drink table to get something to cool her nerves. He gave her a blink, never having her snap really at him much like this...He let her leave however, since he had to go turn this in to a supervisor. He went over to the nearest teacher, one that had been pacing quite a bit this evening. He was new to the faculty right? He couldn't get a good read on him, but something made Luke feel...odd... "Evening Sir, would you mind handling this? I'm not allowed to as part of the student body... They were taken off a pair of freshmen." He said offering the teacher a raise of his brow however. "You're the new professor right? The dean mentioned you would be joining us this evening. I'm Luke Forstner, student council president." He said, wanting to be friendly to the new face, though he was more or less trying to read him for anything that he could use to target him.
Liza walked into the building farther, leading her new roommate towards the food and drink. She was never one to turn down a free meal after all. It was a happy feeling when Stella actually spoke to her and she smiled but it faultered some when her sister was mentioned. Her sister always brought up a saddness in her, but she knew she shouldn't let it affect her so much. She needed to celebrate her life and use her anger and saddness to her advantage so as to find her sisters murderer. The slight hesitation, she brushed away and shook her head with a less bright smile, but a smile nonetheless. "No! That's not too personal at all!" She started off and reached for a cup of punch, the sticky sweet flavor coating the back of her throat when she took a sip. "I'm actually from a city south east of here. You could call me a bit of a midwestern girl." She chuckled and made room for Stella next to the table if the shy girl wanted anything to drink. Liza brushed some of her hair behind a pierced ear, silver glinting on her middle right finger and ear. "I only knew of this place because of my sister, heaven's know how she came across it, but here I am." She took another sip after wrinkling her nose, trying to cover up the melancholy emotions playing out inside of her, though she did a poor job as her hand trembled slightly. She had never been quite good at hiding her emotions. She had been told that she was quite the open book to most that looked. ~~~ Nilo had been quite content with his little spy game, finding a mild amuesment in the authority the student council president seemed to command. He was a little preturbed, however, when he notified the boy making his way towards him through the crowd, a few bottles of alcohol in hand. The smell was repungent enough that Nilo didn't have to guess what was in them. His pale green eyes find another mark to look at so it wouldn't seem that he had been paying too close attention to the male. He was rather surprised to be treated with the language and mild respect that accompanied the male student. His eyes slowly slid to him after being addressed, his brow raising as he eyed the bottles of liquor, their stentch made it near impossible for him to try and find the scent of wolf on the president but it also meant he still could not discount him as being something other than human. "Hnn, children are always so foolish." He murmered as she took the bottles of alchol from the boy, sniffing them slightly and curling his nose. Maybe he'd hold onto the stuff for his own personal use later. Upon the boy introducing himself, Nilo glanced up again, feigning slight surprise. He looked very little like any of the other professors. He had not been expecting such a post and so his clothing was rather laid back with jeans and a khaki colored button down polo. His golden brown hair was pulled back into a messy, curly manbun and tattoos littered his forearms, climbing up onto his biceps and hiding away under the rest of his shirt. Many had great meaning to hunters, if you knew how to look at them appropriately, but some were simple and elegant as the one on his left forearm: a pure black outline of a pinewood forest and the stars, though it's beauty was marred by scar tissue. The same had happened to his other arm, though effect was less dramatic due to less ink coverage. "Yes, names Nilo Syring, I'll be teaching a couple different environmental and outdoor studies courses this semester." He introduced himself, making no effort to smile. He was giving the minimum of politeness, but he really had a gut feeling to look into this male and his friends, so he knew he needed to at least have a bit of a conversaton with him, unfortunantly. "You have an impressive grasp of the stage. It seemed that you held the new studen't attention better than the dean himself." It was close to a compliment, his rather neutral expression not betraying his inner dialog. His posture and stance did give away that he was trained to be on gaurd, however, many ex-military member stood the same way. He did wonder if his slight accent might make him stick out, though he was in the north of the united states, accents were not all that uncommon.
Sia looked his face over with a light frown at how jumbled his words had been. "I'm thinking about it." She said simply more to both questions since she knew her brother could handle himself. Brenden was a grown man- and mostly a hunter as it was- opposite of her but she shrugged and gave Jaeger a wave good bye before heading off since it seemed he was being weird- she didn't want to deal with that. She eventually met up with him in his room, finding he was going about putting some of this things away, waiting on her to come back. They talking a bit before deciding to head to the party she had mentioned having to practically beg him to come along.
The party wasn't what he wanted, not to mention there were not actual 'drinks' but punch and water, and some soda. "So, I'm guessing you don't like the party scene?" Sia asked her brother who was standing in a corner there by her looking unamused. He glanced at her with hard eyes and shook his head. "Not usually no, I'm usually studying." he said with a frown as he glanced around noticing a look or two he was getting. He didn't mind, that never bothered him but it was bothering him that his half breed sister was there- not seeming to leave him alone. "So no partying- god your boring! You never loosen up any?" She asked him in a playful manner however her eyes caught a few others whom she had seen earlier that day but wasn't sure who they were.
Stella could sense something on Liza, a certain emotional response of unease that made her ears pick up the change in her pulse. She was depressed about something, maybe about her home town or talk of her sister? She let her attention turn to her soda that she got, her eyes on the bubbling liquid as she tried to gauge the reaction to herself. She hadn't meant to touch on something wrong, but everyone had their skeletons. Stella had some that were more literal than others...but that didn't mean that Liza couldn't have private things she didn't want to discuss. She would have said something if she wanted to talk about it right? When she looked up at Liza and caught the tremble with her sensitive eyes, her eyes focused on her, a bit hypnotized by the tremble. She felt a more primal side in her assessing her, like a wolf watching a lamb. She felt her own pulse spike, something in her that was enjoying watching her tremble, the little game of hide and seek with her emotions enticing. And how her little heart sang and she could practically hear the blood rushing under her skin. Like a little rabbit on its own, oh so helpless... Quickly Stella realized where her thoughts were going and choked on her soda, falling into a coughing fit that drew attention but she quickly tried to stop it. "S-Sorry I think I drank too much." She said awkwardly putting the cup down now that her nose felt full of carbonation and the predatory feeling had passed. She instead smiled softly at Liza, trying to be social. "That's cool. She must be proud. I heard it's hard to get in here..." She said before letting it drop before looking at the crowd. "I don't know anyone that goes here. I found out about this place through a letter actually. I wasn't too close to here though which is odd. I was in Colorado before here." She said before her eyebrow raised some as she tried to figure the girl out a little more, something about the conversations about the school and her sister were setting her off and she didn't want to drive herself back into that predatory state again. It meant she was close to her transformation, something she would have to take care of soon, perhaps tonight after curfew. There were plenty of woods there..."So, what's something you like to do?" She asked to change the subject for the girl and herself. ~~~ As Karin left where Luke was to find something else to do, she kept her eyes on the party around her still. She was mad with him lately, getting more annoyed with him than she usually did. He was just so controlling, to the point it stifled her. He just recently scolded her from chatting online with people and her blog that she tried to keep up. She knew it was for her safety, but did he have to guard her like she was a defenseless pup? She had been alive nearly as long as he had. They were close after all since they were very close in age, such that most had accepted the fact she was the second in the group. She wasn't his Omega, since they were closer to siblings rather than a couple or pair. She never could see him that way, no matter how much the others seemed to assume there was something else there. To be an Omega wasn't be a bad thing. They were the most powerful female or male of the group that had seniority next to the Alpha as a partner. But they still retained less say and decision making power as the Beta. She was currently the Beta of the pack, or the second in command to the pack. The Beta was in charge of handling pack drama or issues and bringing up the ones that needed the Alpha's attention. Also, if the Alpha for any reason died or was harmed, she would have the most favor in becoming Alpha herself. It wasn't a bad place to be in, since she was only a simple pack member of her last pack that was slaughtered by an enemy pack... She swallowed hard, taking in a deep breath to calm herself. However, something in the air caught her senses. That drew the eyes of Karin to the place the scent was coming from, a young woman there with an older boy. Her eyes went to the girl that was there by the man, her nose picking up a stint smell over the crowd and knew for sure that there were wolves present that didn't belong to her pack. Either the boy or the girl was one and she was determined to figure it out. Her eyes narrowed some, looking at the girl with a heated glance that was hardly hospitable at first. However it smoothed over as she went over to them, her lips pulled into a bright and friendly smile. "Hey, welcome to the Student Council House. As new students I want to make sure you guys are having a good time. Is there anything I can get for you? We have a lot of sweets and drinks if your into that sort of snack. Even pizza!" She said, her usual bully persona making her talk a bit much, but she was trying to get closer to investigate the smell. And boy was it strong from these two, seeming to mingle between them so it was hard for her to tell which was which. ~~~ Luke took in the man's appearance discreetly, working his way to understanding the strange man that was now a professor there. He certainly didn't look like the scholarly type what with his tattoos, longer hair, and scarring, but who was Luke to judge. He looked awfully put together for the leader of a group of werewolves right? He tried to gauge the odd feeling he got from the man, an odd draw that he couldn't quite process at the moment. He had never felt that feeling before and it bothered him slightly... He couldn't get his scent over the smell of the alcohol and all the smells of other people there...Certainly this big man wasn't a threat, just possibly an ex-military man that was teaching for his livelihood. That seemed more likely than the alternative...He didn't like not being able to read this man well, or that the environment was perfect to speak in, but he would at least be courteous since in fact was taking a class with a Prof. Syring. "Ah I am taking one of your classes. Environmental Science on Mondays and Wednesdays." He said with a smile though his expression did show surprise and a bit of humility at being told he was good at public speaking. That was good to hear, since he had practiced a very long time to get good at being around crowds like that. Usually it was a ll a cacophony of noise and scents that would over power him and set off his panic. Now, after learning to practice and putting himself in a more public position at the college, he was able to get better at controlling his senses and stifling them enough to talk in front of people. "Thank you. I'm currently a political science and public speaking major. I hope that I can use it in politics one day...We'll see." He said with a bit of a shrug before he gave the man's tattoo showing with the trees and stars an appraising look. "That's impressive art." He said, a compliment for a complement before he gave over the water bottles filled with alcohol, a pleasant look on his face. "Well thank you Mr. Syring. I'd hate to keep you away from your duties. I'll see you in class tomorrow morning." He said before heading away to see about fixing a few things and to try and see if that drawing feeling from Nilo was just his imagination or a fluke.
