The sky was a bit dreary that afternoon as Matthew sat in his desk. There was about thirty minutes till the last period came to an end, finally- Summer vacation hanging closely to them all as it was the last day of school for this dreadful senior year for him. He was tired of the easy work and lazy students he was forced to work with. He liked to work alone when possible but but he didn't mind a few people, as odd as that was for him. He was used to working alone a lot of his life since not many understood him since he was too smart for a lot of what they were trying to make him memorize. After all School was for memorizing not actual learning. He gave a sigh at that thought as he glanced back into the class room since it was a 'free' period for the Seniors, last day and class after all. His few friends were either sleeping, playing games or just being social- unlike him. It wasn't hard to get along with others but he just felt so awkward with some people- but not with his good friend Paige. She had been there for him a while now- well since three years ago- having come between him and a big mistake. He was grateful after all since it would have been a big mistake to get convinced to join a sports team when he was a science kid who wasn't too into the whole sports thing. The girl had been in his P.E. class after all and knew he had the looks but not the mentality for it.
He wasn't close to many who he felt were actually looking out for him but he felt Paige was one of those people. His mother passed on early in his life, his father was- well less the stellar example of a parent and his sister was gone. She was about ten years older then him and when he was five, she left for America on a scholarship for modeling. She took it in a heart beat and just wanted out of the horrible house- leaving him to fend for himself sadly. He never blamed her since she had a bad home life with their father- hell most did if they knew him. Matt never brought friends home and when the 'parent' conferences came around it sparked rumors and such and just put him in a bad light. He hated spurious rumors since they already made fun of him for not having a mother- and that his sister left him, and that his father was a drunk.
He gave Paige a small smile as he tapped her desk to get her attention since it was obvious he would come out of his thoughts when he was ready, she was much more social then he was after all. He glanced over at the girl who was quite often around his friend- pretty girl, overly social even. He was unsure how some times Paige was his friend but he accepted it for what it was, everyone was different. " Hey, Posh-who is this?" Natalie asked as she looked the quiet kid over, sometimes seeing him with Paige, but not often enough to take notice. Matt looked a little surprised to her his friend called a nick name much less being the subject matter. " Umm- I'm Matt, I'm a friend of Paige's'." He stated smoothly since it was 'hard' to talk to others just not his favorite thing. She gave him another look over before smiling. " Well its nice to meet you Matt, I'm Posh's best friend. Maybe we can hang out some time." She stated before giving Paige a smile since they had been friends for quite a few years now. Natalie was a girl who loved to be told she were pretty and it didn't help that her father had a lot of money- she of course loved to flaunt often. It didn't get her a boy friend since most weren't' able to handle her but she had her eyes on his 'new little friend' of Posh's.
It was about the end of summer when they all heard they had been accepted into the same college, what a coincidence. The Imperial College of London had accepted them to study- however Matthew got in on three scholarships, for being smart. Natalie got in by money and Paige perhaps just because she was bright but stubborn. They however started off the year with one crazy party at the dorms-mostly Paige's idea with some upperclassmen who thought it was a good ice breaker for the new people.

There was something exhilarating about a college party with upperclassmen that had Paige in a giddy mood. It was like a right of passage, a step in a new direction, a new year-new me moment for the ages. Not that partying was totally uncharacteristic of her. In the 8th grade, she was already getting in trouble for sneaking out to party with the high schoolers or throwing her own bashes at her mother's flat when she was off on some business venture. The woman was always gone, but her salary as a high profile lawyer kept Paige well taken care of and allowed her to afford half of what the wealthy could touch. Hence why she was allowed to run in the same circles as her good friend Natalie and to stay humble enough to hang around Matt. It was what sparked her nickname, Posh, once a dig at her being considered poor for the people she hung around or clothes she wore. But, when life hands you lemons, you pelt life with them and flip it off. Besides, as long as her best friend could give a hell less what she had and liked her just fine, she would be alright. She and Matt had been thick as thieves since she got past his shell in P.E., albeit not her favorite class but the one she got to share with him. He was just so genuine and wicked smart, like some kind of brooding genius. But under it all, he was kind, funny, loyal AF, and one hell of a looker. Not that she would tell him and let that get to his ego...and because that would be awkward as hell. It wasn't like he ever saw her like that and she didn't really even think it would ever go anywhere. They were best friends and her second best friend, Natalie, was going after him. She wasn't about to piss off her friends over something that just might never happen. Besides, who knew, she could maybe meet a hot senior millionaire tonight... She turned and admired her figure in. She stuck with her her shoulderless halter top and low waisted black jeans, her hair curled away from her face in long waves, and her makeup soft despite the bright red lipstick she wore. This was a killer look and would get enough attention to keep her busy. She made her way down the dorm hall, grabbing Natalie and Matt to make sure she didn't arrive on her own before they headed to the next building together. The dorm was crowded with new faces around them, but Paige was quick to sniff out the booze. After getting beers for her group. "Cheers to our new start and starting it together!" She said over the loud noise of the speakers blaring music down the halls over the noise of people talking and partying in the rooms. "At least this place knows how to party. You think they have the good liquor hiding with the seniors?" She giggled, conspiring to go hunt some down if she needed a bit more courage to find a hot distraction.

Matt was working on straightening up his cuffs He glanced over when Paige opened his door and gave him a smile. She was in a cute top and of course her and her gody make up. It suited her so he never said anything about it. She seemed okay with his notion of how to dress, since she had told him how to dress earlier when he confessed that he had no idea what to wear. He followed her out into the hallway and even greeted Natalie when she was kidnapped from her own space. He had caught a glance and noticed it looked like a clothing bomb had gone off in the room, but he had to admit- the result was nice. Natalie, as usual, liked to be seen as desired and just top notch. As they made their way into the main area where the party was at he seemed a little off but attempted to relax when he had a beer in hand. At the cheer he gave a smirk. "Cheers for that- not sure I would last long with out you here." he said before chugging his drink. It was just a bit more obvious that he was uncomfortable with all the new people. Natalie nodded to the comment from Matt but glanced over at Paige. "Indeed. maybe we can convince a few to share?" She asked more in a joking manner before glancing back at Matt. He rose a brow at her look since he didn't seem keen on what she was wanting. "what?" He asked more questioningly only getting a coy look from Natalie. "Nothing, you just seemed like you needed another drink was all. Talk about a lush." She said in a joking manner getting an eye roll from him. "Yeah yeah, just cause I'm a light weight." He commented before knocking Paige's hip to get her attention off those around them. "your not really gonna go harass the seniors are ya?" He asked making it sound like she were going to cause trouble. He however moved a fraction of an inch closer to her more to speak however some one was being an ass hat behind him and knocked him into Paige. "Sorry- watch what you're doing ya Jack!" He said over his shoulder, checking to make sure no alcohol got spilled- finding thankfully everything was fine. He did glance back over at Posh with a smile. "Also, I need to talk to ya later perhaps?" He asked her a bit more quietly- more between her and him however Natalie jumped into the conversation- making instant space with a flirty grin. "Come on Matt! lets go get something to drink! Posh will be fine by herself. Right?" She hinted before pulling Matt off- even if he looked a little lost about being dragged off.

Paige gave Matt a quirky smile at his comment about not making it without her. "Hush, Matt. We're a team for a reason. Just watch we will conquer this school together. One bender and dorm party at a time." She said as she glanced around the room, especially when she saw that look Natalie was giving Matt. She was giving him those 'come and get me' eyes that made all the men swoon. She was third-wheeling--technically against her better judgment--or she had agreed she would let Natalie have alone time with Matt at least once tonight. She couldn't really say no to Nat when she asked nicely...besides, maybe she and Matt could be a good fit. He needed to come out of his shell more and maybe having a pretty, rich girlfriend on his arm would make him a bit more social. Natalie did hang out with the cooler crowds and her money could open doors for him. Well, not that any of that mattered if he was miserable. She just wanted Matt to be happy, after all he dealt with. They never really talked about the rumors that got passed around about him and his family when they were in school, but Posh knew of them. She chose not to bring things up and let Matt tell her the truth eventually. He didn't pester her about her parents and she wouldn't do that to him. It was what helped her talk to him so easily, even the heavy shit. She wanted to roll her eyes at how oblivious Matt was to Nat's flirting. Instead of commenting, she made eyes at a guy nearby that had a nice body, or so she could tell under the rugby jersey he wore. She gave him a wink with a tongue in cheek look, making him smile flirtatiously back. Paige considered going over to talk to him, till she was jostled by Matt bumping her hip. She gave him a smirk, raising a brow at him in question as to why he was worried about her attention. The question about harassing senoirs made her give him a fake shocked look. "Harass? You know they'd love a little Posh in their lives." She giggled, just teasing him since his comment was a bit funny to her. When he moved closer to talk to her, Paige looked a bit curious as to what he wanted to say. She was used to being close to Matt, so she wasn't too bothered by it. However, when he was suddenly pushed against her, Paige couldn't help that it shocked her and made him look up at him. She felt a strange flutter in her chest at him being in her personal space like that, unconsciously his face close to hers. She could see the definition in his face, those steely eyes of his, and the soft pull of his lips as he smiled at her. It made her swallow hard at the funny feeling that came over her, one that she was quick to shove down when he spoke to her. "Kay. Of course--" She said with a nod, but Natalie cut her off and started dragging Matt off. With the space now created, Paige was able to feel that strange feeling put itself back in its place, even if it still lingered briefly as she watched him leave with that confused look on his face at having to leave. "Yeah go have fun! Don't get too trashed without me!" She shouted to them jokingly before she stood rather awkwardly in the crowded hall by herself. She looked around her, but decided if she was going to be alone, she might as well make the best of it. She found a few guys and girls to party with, playing beer pong and a couple shot games to keep herself feeling good. After a good while, she found herself in one of the common spaces, chilling on an old musty couch that was obviously once in a dorm room. The rugby player had joined her, his arm around her shoulders while joking with his teammates it seemed. She was drunk, obviously by the way she giggled at the stupid jokes they made and little dirty talk the guy spared her in the meantime. She had no intention of going past a make-out with the oaf, even her drunk self was aware of that. She didn't want to ditch Matt with Natalie like that. Besides, she was still thinking about what he might have wanted to talk about later. The thought brought up the odd feeling from earlier, enough so that she squirmed out of the guy's grip, not that he noticed with how drunk and wrapped up in talking to the tart cheerleader sitting on the arm of the sofa next to him. She had to figure out what was going on with her before she talked to Matt. She couldn't be weird around her best friend after all.

A lot of guys wanted Natalie's attention however she gave it to Matt, which made him feel weird. he wans't used to women hitting on him, not at her caliber at least. He was awkward to say the best but at least he had his looks to back him up. They talked a short bit, her feeding him enough Drinks to get him drunk- quickly since he was such a light weight. He had a water in his hand when Natalie came back with another drink for them both, he however looked a little green at the gill at the smell already. "I think I'm done drinking." He stated getting a frown from Natalie, a teasing smile on her lips. "just one more shot? with me?" She asked almost trying to see what she would get out of him tonight. He gave a sigh but gave in, taking the last shot, before letting her head off to do something before he slipped out of the room to find a common area with more space thankfully- and of all people- Posh. That made him feel better honestly. Heading over to her he gave her a drunk smile," Hey! bought time I caught you- Natalie's been force feeding me drinks." He said sounding unhappy about it but gave her an ungaurded grin of his since Posh was his closest friend.

Paige blinked out of her thoughts when lo-and-behold Matt popped up. And he was drunk, drunker than she was used to seeing him. Lord, how many drinks did Natalie feed him? She knew that was her MO for a hookup but she thought she would at least be a bit more careful with Matt, with them knowing he was a lightweight. "I was wondering what she was getting you alone for. Come on, let's go take a breather then and get you some more water." She said, getting up and teetering on her heels. She ignored the whistle and catcalls from the men she was partying with and pulled Matt along with her to a less crowded area that actually had a decent couch to crash on. She sat next to him after she grabbed a pair of water bottles from the cooler a drunk gril was currently passed out next to with her boyfriend trying to get her lucid. She gave him the bottle and gave him an excited wag of her brows. "Yay! You're still smiling! Good. That means you're having fun at our first college party, yeah?" She asked him, giving him an equally cheezy grin since she was feeling good at the moment.

The water was appreciated honestly, so was the comfortable couch. When she sat and seemed excited about him smiling eh laughed a bit. “ yeah yeah, that’s if I remember this tomorrow.” He Stated sounding out over about it. “Your such a goof Posh.” He Stated but shrugged, taking a drink of his water. He was quiet a moment getting his words together but was calm With everything. “Posh, I just wanted to tell you that you’re one of the best friends- hell my only best friend I’ve ever had. And I appreciate it a lot.” He Stated with a grin but looked at the floor a moment , clearly still drunk and trying to figure out his words. “ I’m not good at this kinda stuff, I wouldn’t have been able to put my all into college if you weren’t here with me, though I’m not so sure about Natalie.” He stated sounding skeptical of the flirt. He took another drink of his water with a frown,” I feel like she is painting a target on me for some reason.” He mumbles but let it go since he wasn’t sure how to handle Natalie’s attention.

Paige let the goof comment go since she didn’t feel like teasing him more. After all, he mentioned wanting to talk later and being silly wouldn’t help that. She looked out at the room when he got quiet, figuring he was thinking about things in his little shell as he usually did. She didn’t see Natalie coming from the background so she assumed she found something or someone to entertain her. She would have to go check on her if they didn’t catch up soon since she didn’t want anything happening to her. When he spoke up, using her nickname, she looked back at him with a curious look. The heartfelt words about being best friends made her smile, though she did wonder what brought that on. Maybe it was just drunk ramblings, but it made her feel good. Matt was the only person she confided in, trusted, and was able to really be herself with. She knew he cared about her and would set her straight when she needed it. Honestly, he was just the friend she needed...her chest gave that odd squeezy feeling again at the thought, especially when he went into talking about her being the reason he tried to go to college. She wanted to argue that, since he was brilliant and she knew he would get there when he decided to. But she liked the idea that she had helped in that decision. He deserved to make a good life for himself doing what he loved. She would always support that. However, mention of Natalie made her brows raise. He was somewhat right...Natalie could be self-centered but she wasn’t a cruel person. She would be happy for Matt too and would like to see him apply himself at school too. However news that she was painting a target on him made Paige give a soft frown. Oh he had no idea. Natalie liked Matt and did want him to just hurry up and hit on her. But Matt seemed to not notice completely or care. The idea that Matt wouldn’t want to date Natalie was an odd thought since every guy wanted Natalie. Rich, pretty, and popular definitely had its perks. Not to mention she had been a good friend to Paige and Matt...So maybe all Matt needed was a push in that direction? It would make Natalie happy and Matt may end up liking her and feel happy dating her...but why didn’t that make Paige completely happy? “Matt you know I’ve got your back. So when you say Nat has a target...well, she’s just interested in you so she may be fixated a little. I just think you’re just different than the usual guys she goes for and she’s trying to impress you or catch your attention the ways she knows how. Even if you aren’t too into it. She’s trying though.” She said, playing with the bottle in her hands as she spoke to let off some of that awkward energy building in her. “Just so you know why she’s been so persistent lately—you know, you being my best friend and all that. What you said was so sweet Matt. I’m beyond excited you’re here to figure out this college thing with me.” She said with a bright smile, before she gave a giggle at how warm she was feeling and the way the room tilted a bit when she tried to flick some hair over her shoulder. “And we thought you were the light weight. Sheesh, my head’s a little fuzzy. Oh! I finally found the good booze by the way.” She joked, rest her head on his shoulder till the room stopped shifting.

At the comment that Natalie was trying to get his attention he rose a drunk brow at her. That wasn’t exactly normal- he was too quiet for her usually and complained a lot of about most of his habits, but maybe Posh was right? Her next set of words was nice as well, even if he was still unsure about Natlaie’s Undue attention. He let her get close and rest her head on his shoulder since she comment about being a light weight. He did chuckle however over the ‘good booze’ comment since she was like a bloodhound. “ good- not that we the light few will ever need it” he joked but gave a sigh, seeming to relax however he put his water down not really worrying about it. Natalie came around and got a glimpse of the cuddly scene and looked mildly angry over it, though she got an idea- she moved around the side of the couch and took the water bottle on the floor- taking it back to the bathroom and pouring vodka into it- getting rid of the water, before putting it back. She gave their backs another dirty look before she slipped back off to see what she could conjure up as a distraction- though she got distracted by a guy from the basketball team hitting on her. Matt after a few minutes of working on the room not spinning as well reached for his water, taking a swig only to cough, wiping his mouth with a grimace. “ Bloody hell- some one gave me vodka.” He said looking a little unhappy about it since it wasn’t his favorite by far- the burning taste wasn’t appetizing.

Paige let her eyes drift closed a moment as she rested against Matt, totally missing Natalie even wandering up. Even if she did, Nat had to know that she wouldn't try to hit on Matt while her friend was interested--Not that she would ever hit on Matt! She looked up at him and caught sight of his content look and how calm he looked despite the drunk blush. He didn't look upleasant under the dim lights of the party. She relaxed and let her headspace leave the odd thoughts in favor of just enjoying time with him. When Matt spoke up about someone slipping him vodka, Paige looked confused. "The hell? No way. Pass it here." She said and took a swig herself. She blinked and swallowed it down before looking at the bottle funny. "Damn, someone slipped you something good at least." She said though she was still confused by it. "Maybe someone left it on accident...maybe they grabbed your water instead--Oh what if it's like a college party thing like 'party foul for drinking water'--I don't know. Now I have to keep an eye on you all night just in case." She said putting the water bottle down and huffing. She looked around the room but saw no one around that they knew or would try to give him alcohol on purpose. It must have just been some mistake. Anyways, she should at least get him another. "Do you want another water? Here let me get one." She got up but stumbled a bit, almost falling back down on Matt. She caught herself on the arm of the couch and steadied herself so that she was okay. "Sorry, these heels are a mess." She plopped back down and gave him a curious look. "Maybe a wait on the water...Um well that's a good segway to something else. Did you want to talk about something? Or was telling me how awesome I am cover it?" She giggled, just teasing him since she was unsure of what he had meant earlier, if anything.

Matt let her have the bottle and nodded when she agreed but didn’t make a move to take the bottle back. At the comment of keeping an eye on him all night he chuckled,” like you have anyone more cool then me to hang out with?” He Stated as a joke since he knew he wasn’t a cool kid- he just looked like one. When she stood up and wobbled to stand in her heels he looked worried a few moments till she took a seat again. At her weird Segway conversation he nodded lightly but reached over and picked up the vodka again, taking a large swig and passing her the bottle. “ when In Rome.” He joked since he was thirsty and working on how he wished to say things. After a moment he took a breath,” I wanted to tell you that my dad was diagnosed with cancer. He is terminal, and honestly I don’t expect him to last till next year.” He stated to her sounding oddly alright with this information. He disobeyed with his hands a bit as he waited for Paige to figure out what to say.

Paige laughed at the cool comment and nodded. “Touché...” she muttered since there really wasn’t anyone else she would spend her night with. She watched him down another drink and smirked, loving this new adventurous side. She could get used to seeing him go with the flow. If the flow didn’t lead to him dropping a bomb on her. Her smile quickly faded as he told her the news and she felt a sadness building for her friend. His dad, no matter Matt’s relationship with him that she didn’t really know the truth about, was still his last living parent. That took a toll on anyone and she didn’t expect him not to feel something if he was telling her. She took a moment to gather herself, to really think on what to say, but soon thought to hell with it and hugged him. “Matt, I’m so sorry.” She said, clinging to him in a hug that tried to convey how she wanted to comfort him. She pulled away a fraction, but still close, and looked up at him from the hug. “ Anything you need, I’m here for you.” She said since she didn’t want to downplay it even go into trying to to ask more. He needed her to be there and if he wanted to talk more he would.

The hug was nice to have since he hadn't really had any positive contact with those close to him often. His family situation had been hard growing up, his mother died when he was young and his sister left then quickly. It was hard growing up to be a social person who knew how to not be awkward with others when physical contact came into play but with Posh it was easy, thankfully. He hugged her back, feeling thankful for her being his friend and understanding that even if he didn't speak of his personal life often when he did she did well to heed it. His mind was still fuzzy from drinking and knew nothing good ever came of drinking but it dind't help that it eased some of his stress. When Posh pulled back from the hug and looked at him, her face very close to his he felt his heart beat faster. He wasn't exactly sure what was going though his mind but the one drunk thought he did seem to catch was that Posh's lips were so red-where they soft? He glanced down at her and noticed that she looked concerned for him. He closed the distance in a drunk mindset and wanted an answer to his own drunk pondering, pressing his lips to hers- still in the close proximity. It was a soft kiss but it wasn't an empty one, it was a nice feeling to feel honestly since he wasn't very experienced in women, even with his looks since his family life kept most of that at bay. He pulled away and gave her a small guilty smile, clearing his throat a bit awkwardly," Umm- sorry- I ah..." He stated weirdly after a second, looking away from Posh.
Natalie saw the drunk kiss and frowned, that wans't how she wanted this to go this evening. Posh said she woudn't go after him because she wanted him- what the hell was this back stabber doing?! She came over and flung her arms around Matt with a flirty smile, chest pressed onto his back making him blush at the contact. "There you are! I was looking for you every where- should have assumed you were with Poshy." She gave a grin at her friend before dragging Matt off to do something else, obviously getting his attention back on her for the evening since she wanted him.

Paige saw Matt seemed to be thinking about her words and the hug back meant he understood that she would always be there for him. She watched his face a moment, wondering why he wasn't saying anything. She was about to ask him what was up, but he suddenly leaned in closer. Well closer than he was already. Paige felt a strange warmth spread into her face as she realized just how close she was to him. Was it her or did things feel so much warmer in this room? And was her heart beating faster? Paige wanted to move back, to save herself doing something stupid or awkward, but Matt made that decision for her. THe sudden kiss left her frozen from the shock, but she didn't push him away. The soft feeling of his lips and the tenderness of the kiss made her heart flutter. She was blushing hard when he pulled away and was unable to formulate the sentence. When Matt apologized and looked away, she wondered a moment if it was wrong--of course it was a mistake--he was her best friend---but that didn't stop her from liking the kiss. Did--Did Matt regret it? She shook her head and reached for him to make him look at her again. SHe had to tell him she didn't mind--that it was nice--that she wanted to talk about this. "Matt I--" Natalie's sudden intrusion made Paige jump and her look away with a guilty frown. She knew Natalie must have seen something and she was totally breaking girl code. But Paige still felt her heart sink when Natalie pulled Matt away, leaving Paige feeling more alone in a room than she had felt in a very long time. But...this was for the best. They were drunk, he was vulnerable, and the kiss most likely meant nothing. Besides, they were drunk. They probably wouldn't even remember this tomorrow. ~~~ "But mother, NYU is a reputable university. I could study and live in New York." Claire said with an awkward smile, but the face on the other side of the screen hardly looked to be considering it. She knew better than to expect her mother to be completely thrilled by the idea of her daughter going to anything less than Oxford or Harvard. After all, she was the prodigal child, the only child of an actress that got her start with an amazing education in her home country in England. "But it isn't the best university for you. NYU hardly will support you making a name for yourself when we can afford you the best education money has to offer." Her mother said, her tone slightly scolding, despite her attempts to be...well a mother. Claire knew not to hold her mother's views against her. She had always discussed that she should have never dropped out of school to pursue acting, even though she made millions in medical dramas and posing for high fashion magazines. She regretted not becoming a doctor but she happily saw the same drive in her daughter to succeed. Although Claire once followed blindly and felt like the medical career was the perfect field for her and it was her dream to become a surgeon....something just didn't click now? A journalism class she was enrolled in high school just felt so thrilling and freeing that she instantly fell in love with it. To say the least, the idea wasn't popular with her mother or even her father, who made his living as a photographer for travel magazines. They both didn't want to see her struggle...she understood that. But would she really struggle? Claire didn't want to live off her parent's wealth or dedicate her whole life to acting or the spotlight. Besides, no one outside of her mother and father knew she was even her mother's child. Her mother never claimed her publicly as her managers had said it would be a media nightmare for anyone to know about her illegitimate child she had with her photographer. Either way, she didn't care much for crowds or people anyways and liked the privacy she had...she just wished that anonymity allowed her the freedom to do what she wanted with her life... "Claire honey. You have that disappointed look on your face...We talked about this. Your father and I want only the best for you and you're a brilliant girl. You could do what I never achieved and go to medical school with your grades." Claire looked down at her hands, playing with her nails under the marble counter of the breakfast bar she was sitting at. "But you and dad made it in the journalism and arts world." She began, but her mother quickly shot her a frustrated look. "Yes. But we had to struggle so much to get what we have now. Medical school was our dream since you were little. Besides, journalism is hardly a profitable career Claire--Did your father put you up to it?" She growled and Claire quickly shook her head with wide eyes. She didn't want her mother calling her father in a rage. They weren't still together and the break up had been nasty long before Claire was born. They only really kept in contact because of her. To save herself more problems, Claire quickly gave a grin and gave her mother a wave. "No mom, I was just thinking. I'm still waiting to hear back from The Imperial College of London. Surely I'll get in on that scholarship after my first year at somewhere like Harvard or Baylor." She said with a soft look that made her mother ease before she gave her daughter a happy look. "I know sweety. Now I have to run to another shoot. Congrats on all your acceptances. Get some rest and I'll call you soon to hear your decision. Love you." Her mother said quickly, but the call hung up before Claire could respond. She gave a heavy huff anf placed her phone on the counter. The apartment around her was silent as she got to her feet and headed back to the back of the apartment. She was alone, as her father was away on another ohoto expedition to some far off land and wouldn't be back for another four weeks. Seems she would be celebrating alone with some poetry her parents had given her....

The party had been fun- drunk fun perhaps but it was sadly over not long after when a lot of students' blacked out. Natalie convinced Matt to date her, with much reluctance as it were and he still stuck close to Posh. It seemed he hadn't made a drunk ass of himself at the party since after all he got a girlfriend out of it? He didn't care but he regretted it- still to this day...
It was dark out when he arrived at the school. As usual for the past two and a half he arrived at exactly 6:15 am to set up his class. He liked everything to be neat and orderly, the janitors never touched his room since he did everything himself. Nodding to the janitor who was mopping the front hallway he crossed the dry section of floor and down the east hallway to his class. Room 127 East Lecture Hall.
The sign beside the door read, he didn't like the numbers but he never complained out loud. He hated the number 7- it was an odd number, that it was Natalie's favorite. He kept to himself in the teachers lounge for a few months till he got used to his schedule and then every one got to know him fairly well. He was charismatic and charming and always had a way out of any situation. Quite a few of the female teachers wanted a date but he always politely declined with the fact that he had papers to grade, not to mention a back stabbing girlfriend who was like a leech, oh the age differences.
He was a teacher in an advanced class, he enjoyed smart student, aka those who could keep up. Students who fell behind he offered them a chance to drop to a less intense class, they usually took it since he gave them a good grade if they dropped. Advanced Physics wasn't an easy class -especially if you weren't there for the lecture or if you didn't get notes- you were almost doomed. The only plus out of the class was that they only met three times week and a test once a month. It was an accelerated course so it was very intense but a few students could keep up properly, not that it didn't stop them from attempting.
He was organizing some papers he was to pass back out, in the first session today at his desk when his phone rang, looking at it he sighed, it was from the admissions office. Flipping it open he put the phone to his ear. "Professor Schwartz." "Hey, Its Amelia- I wanted to inform you that there is enrollment this week in the main office so you might get a few more kids in your class. Please have notes ready and a copy of your recorded lectures for them." Said the woman, she was in charge of the new students and she was very strict with every one. "Yes mama', Thank you for informing me." He closed his phone and put it back on his desk. Looking back down at the paper titled, Quantum chromo-dynamics from his previous lecture, the student understood the equations but not how to read the chart, marking them down a grade, leaving them at a C he put it aside. The next few papers weren't any better. So he stood up and grabbed his chalk stepping to the board and began to draw an example chart for the class to warm up on... This was going to be a fun class playing catch up with the students starting to get behind. He sighed when he finally finished scribling on the board to his usual perfection. He hated messy hand writing, so every paper had to be typed. A few students walked into the door. They were his usual early students, they were getting their things out and getting every thing looked over carefully on their lap tops to make sure it was ready to turn in. They each said 'good morning', he nodded in acknowledgment to each one. "I have your papers graded- I will hand them out at the start of class today. "
He knew he wasn't really a morning person but Natalie drove him to it in all honestly. She started staying over a lot, till it was hard to tell if she did live at home or in her own dorm. She was in one of his classes, the one at the end of the day- mostly he felt so she could watch him. He felt trapped and did many things to get away from her but she always had the threat of hurting herself over him- he didn't wish any harm on another he just wanted his space back...
