'Twas a long time ago, longer now than it seems In a place that perhaps you've seen in your dreams. For the story that you are about to be told Began with the holiday worlds of old. Now, you've probably wondered where holidays come from. If you haven't, I'd say it's time you begun…. ~~~~ It was late one fall in Halloween Town, that is how our story begins, on a night when the air had quite a chill that passed over a lanky skeleton man that sat alone upon a hill. He was tall and thin with white hair to barely cover dead, black eyes that stared at the moon’s face that was as pale as his own. Jack Skellington was his name, or at least that’s what he’d come to be called by the monsters and ghouls around him. It wasn’t his real name, well since he didn’t know his real name when he woke up in this wonderland of horrors. But that was so long ago, in a time when he was once joyous and excited by all the happenings here. The prospect of being a part of the celebration taking place now made his young bones rattle with excitement, made his flesh crawl in utter joy. But now…it seemed as if all those lovely feelings had faded, leaving only an emptiness behind. And in that emptiness began to grow a frustration, one that lit upon his features as he began to realize just how inhibiting this dullness was. "I'm sick of the scaring, the terror, the fright. I'm tired of being something that goes bump in the night.” He got to his feet, his passion moving him down the slippery curled slope towards the pumpkins and graves bellow. “I'm bored with leering my horrible glances, And don't get me started with those dancing those skeleton dances.” His lanky figure gave him ample area to roam, almost as if he danced among the empty graves. “I don't like graveyards, and I need something new. There must be more to life than just yelling, 'Boo!'" He heard his voice echo along the forest of cold stones and gave a dismal sigh. He knew his words were only reaching the empty hallowed earth around him. He continued his trek over the dirt and dead, grey grass, deciding to keep a check on his usual rounds. It was his job as a Reaper to keep an eye on things, especially the portal between this world and the next. Though no one knew really how it worked, the portal was a gate way for Halloween Town to leak into the human world on the night of Halloween. It was useful for scaring and creating their certain brand of holiday cheer, but no telling how dangerous it could be if someone misused its power. He walked up to the old mausoleum, the gateway from this world to the next. (( teliczan.files.wordpress.com/2009/10/middleton.jpg?w=800&h=605 looks like this but think more decrepit that top window has a clock on it, one that counts down to Halloween)) Jack approached the door, his hand grazing the lock on it lightly, with a certain fondness to his touch though he couldn’t feel a thing. What could be beyond that door, he wondered. He was one of the many here who rarely got to see the human world beyond just the night Halloween. Secretly deep down he always wondered what the humans were really like, the living ones that didn’t have a hunger for brains or have pieces of skin missing. What did living feel like? How did someone feel exactly? And would knowing actually cure his curiosity or just make it greater? A tinkling of metal at his neck pulled his attention back to reality. He looked down at the odd little skeleton key that hung from a chain that was once hidden behind his suite. (the key lol quizilla.teennick.com/user_images/X/XShakaWTWF/1110482486_keys-skelkey.gif ) He pulled away from the door, refusing to let himself get wrapped up in his fantasies again. As a Reaper he was supposed to be the responsible one, one slip up and he could ruin Halloween for everyone, more so for himself than it already was. He couldn’t help the small little groan that slipped from his lips at the thought, or the little sneer that made him dread returning back to town. There everyone would be, enjoying themselves in the lively party, asking him for his take on the festivities, what plans should be made for the upcoming Halloween, things he at this point couldn’t care less about. He let a hand go through his hair, reciting to himself that he needed to have patience, to forget these odd feelings rather than dwell on them. He was supposed to be happy and cheerful, and he had no time to give himself to relax, and had to at least muster up enough holiday horror cheer to be presentable to the others in the festivities taking place in town. He put on a bright smile and gave a quick little hum of the towns anthem as he walked out of the large grated fence and into the town square that was teeming with the undead, celebrating another year of planning for the momentous day about to come. The night of Halloween was only 5 days away as the bell above the square tolled, making another round of cheers errupt from the people. ((kay kay its open for whatever someone wants to do with it. I leave the opening up to yall lol.)) ~~~~~~ Alright posting order goes as followed: 1.Kimcora 2.Vamperious and as many so fourth as they want to join. Val sighed as she looked at the door with a sad expression on her face, tears streaming down her face, her make up running. He wiped it away with a red gloved hand, knowing crying wouldn't do a damned thing for her. She was responsible for killing him she was going to go there and bring him back, but since she had been reading about the stuff that went on in the underground(hell-she thought) she was nervous to go. She knew it wasn't a place for the living but Halloween was the only time to go there- since the book said so. She touched the door it made a shiver of excitement run threw her flesh raising her flesh with a small wave of fear. She hasn't been able to find the book for along time, over two hundred years, her brother having been gone for along while, but she still looked like she had that day...She was sitting on the floor lighting the candles for her summoning spell, her brother showing off as he swung his stick sword around like he was a famous swordsman. She smiled at him, he was so cute when he was playing pretend, he was only 12. Their parents had been dead a while now, leaving only the two. "Don't get too close, remember, its dangerous." "Nothing is too dangerous for me!" He said in a bold voice as he pretended to stab a villain, then continued his battle. Shaking her head as she smiled she began chanting, when she as almost done with the spell, her brother tripped over a candle making the circle go up in flames as an uncontrolled spell. Her eyes shot open at the sudden heat and she screamed for him to get out of the circle. However the safety spell had already gone up and he was trapped inside, the red brick dust keeping him there as his body was possessed and burned to a cinder on the floor in front of her. Her eyes are never dry when she remembers that day. She vowed to save him while he was still alive however she couldn't do it yet- she wasn't' strong enough yet, but she was going to be sooner or later. She had been working for years now to get stronger, actually increasing her life span and gaining power however she needed to get to the underground to find him. That was a problem...She needed a way in- while she was till alive.

(okay i got impatient) Jack hung back from the crowd taking in the sights and sounds of the people. He used to love to be a part of all the conversation, getting dragged into their stories and offering some of his own. It was a time to be happy and merry but he just didn’t feel it. He was just about to call it a night, say his farewells and escape back to the quiet of his home, till a woman’s voice stopped him. “Aw does poor Jackie not feel bright and happy?” A sinister giggle came from beside him and Jack gave a reflexive wince in response. He recoiled from the voice, looking over beside him to see a girl standing beside him. She looked younger than him, almost like she was a young 15 year old girl, though he knew this was just an appearance. She was far older than most here, in fact no one really knew just how old she was or where she came from. Everyone just understood that she was a respected legend in Halloween and ten times more terrifying than anything monster or human had ever seen. She gave him a delicate smile when she noticed his stare and battered her eyes coyly. “What’s wrong skeleton boy? Cat got your tongue…?” She purred and Jack gulped. “I don’t have time for this Rin. Please don’t bother me.” He was being polite because she was above him in the hierarchy of this town, but she really did bug him. Not to mention she also made him incredibly uncomfortable for some reason. He imagined that’s what fear felt like but he wasn’t quite sure, neither did he really want to find out. “Aw but Jackie, I just wanted to see how you were doing. You seem so lonely, up there on that hill by yourself.” She pursed her lips in a way that she seemed to almost pout and was full of concern, but Jack could see in her eyes that she was toying with him, trying to make a dig at him to the best of her abilities. “It’s not Jackie..its Jack. And what do you really want Rin?” Her pout faded at the harshness in his tone and her looks turned thoughtful for a moment. “Fine Jack, I have something I need you to do for me…” She moved in close to him, her red eyes burning into his black ones as her slender arms wrapped around his neck. He could feel the pressure of her arms there but nothing else, not even the temperature of her skin or get any real recognition of feeling from her touch. “I need you to lone me that key of yours.” She looked down to his chest where the key hung before she looked back up at him. “No.” He said simply and Rin’s lip twitched. “But Jack, I need that key. It’s for a good cause I swear. I’ll even pick up a little present for you.” He “I said no Rin. You and I both know that key is big responsibility, one screw up could cause major damage-““Screw up? Oh Jack, you words hurt me, really they do. Do you not trust me?”“No, in fact I don’t.” He said, pulling out of Rin’s grasp. Her face fell into a frown, her eyes narrowing in spite. He had pissed her off, he knew that perfectly well, but he wouldn’t trust the key to the worlds to someone like Rin. She would abuse that power, he could tell that just by looking at the intent in her eyes. “Fine, Jack, have it your way…for now at least.” She stalked off, her form wavering before she vanished into a shadow. Jack felt the unease settling deep within him. Something about Rin’s words worried him, so much so that as he walked back to his towering home he couldn’t think about anything but her final words. He just hoped she wouldn’t do something stupid, or heinous, not this close to the 2000 year anniversary for Halloween. ~~~ (This is little Rin *X the wings tough, instead her shadows form spidery tendrils) A shadow formed in front of the gateway to Halloween Town, taking on the form of Rin in a matter of seconds. She scowled at the big gate, her anger burning inside of her. She gave a jack-o-lantern beside her a hard kick, sending it flying into a nearby tomb stone. “Who does that bag of bones think he is?! How dare he speak to me as if I was just some average creature!” She hissed, practically throwing a temper tantrum. She finally gave a huff, straightening out her dress before grinning to herself. “But no matter, not even little Jack can beat me..” She giggled, skipping over to a grave. She closed her eyes and instantly the shadows consumed her. In a matter of seconds she opened her eyes and she was a floating shadow in the human world, in a graveyard much more desolate than that of her Halloween world. Though she wasn’t visible or tangible in this form, she could still move freely. It annoyed her that she couldn’t be seen by these humans, it made things so much more difficult in soul collecting. But no matter what this world or its people looked like, it was simply a playground for her..something she wished to obtain. As a shadow she slunk around the graves, looking for someone to procure, little did she know she would run into a rather strong aura coming from a somewhere nearby, it drew Rin in like a fly to honey, especially when she could almost taste the despair and sadness in the air. She grinned to herself as she floated over the mausoleum door she sat near. Rin could tell by the way she sat staring at the door, as if wishing for something. Rin recognized the door all to well, especially by the carvings on it. It was a doorway to her world, the one Jack was so intent on protecting. “Interesting…” She cooed, deciding this was worth her while. Rin giggled with glee and floated over to the book she had beside her and noticed the pages. It was an archaic book of spells, one that she’d never seen before but understood how it worked. She dabbled into dark magic at times, especially to get her power that she did possess. She ran a hand along the pages and they flipped as if by the wind. She was interested in this girl, wanted to see if she had a soul worth taking, and if it would be any fun for her. But first she would have to find a good spell that would at least let the girl see her, that way she could actually make a deal with her. The pages stopped turning on a simple summoning spell, easy enough that it didn’t even require a circle, just the words. It was only for manifestation of course, so the entity couldn’t cause them harm, but there was still no telling if she would take the hint. Rin needed her to take this hint…if she was going to use her for her greater purpose.

As she sat there she pressed her aura on the door hoping it would open the door. It didn't that made her frown feeling frustrated. When she huffed top sit on her seat- a step, her books pages began to ruffle like the wind was moving them, on a calm windless night. She rose an eye brow at it suspiciously then a wicked smile came over her face. Looking at the summoning spell it was to summoning a ghost- a simple- too simple, she flipped a few pages over and it was a temporary demon summoning spell a circle was required however but it gave the entity more of an options and more if its mind but the power was capped unless the summoner required it to to bused, like a contract. The demon can't act with out you releasing it form its circle but ti was physically in the human world but ti was trapped. Tapping the page knowingly she stood up, pulling a dagger from her belt line and cutting her hand along her palm. making a smooth blood circle she also drew the pentagrams inside with the required symbols. After looking at the book a few more seconds she looked around at the empty graveyard around her then pointed to the middle of the summoning circle," I want you to stand in the center. So I can make light of you." Hoping they heeded her if they didn't it was going to hurt them more getting threw the blood barrier she created if they went in willingly first it was painless. Chanting a few words she stood back but put her aura into the words so they would have a magical effect on the summoning. She closed her eyes and after the last words left her lips she knew it worked, opening them she looked at he book to make sure there was nothing left to do. The book saying to watch out for deal breakers and to not step on your own blood circle she smiled, she had completed it. Looking up at her circle she smiled. "Hello. What brings you here?" She asked the thing a satisfied smile on her face.

Oh Rin had found someone very interesting indeed. She smiled to herself when the girl drew the blood and skipped around the circle. She was hesitant at first but took a step into the circle, floating into the middle. Instantly when she did the light arose from the ground blowing her hair around her in a whirl of wind. But of course as mist summoning spells, she could feel the seal over her powers and instantly the shadowy tendrils that normally appeared from her back, disappeared. She frowned a bit at just how limitted she felt but she wasn't going to be there long...just long enough to see if she was worth her time to play with, or if she should just kill her now. She was entertained by the question and greeting, walking up to the barrier of the circle and placing her hands against the invisible containment. "Wouldn't you like to know..." She said, a smile spredding across her lips. "I can tell, its much more interesting why you are here, infront of the gateway to my home..." She indeed was curious, but she couldn't use her abilities to peer into the girls mind. She could tell by the original loook on her face that there was something she desired from the Underground but what it was exactly she wasn't too sure. "You see they take that gates protection very seriously down there," She pointed down at the ground with a black nail, "And its not everyday a human is trying to go down there."

Smiling at the girl she listened to her," I want to get some thing. What are you exactly? I know your not a ghost.. And what do you mean about a key?" She was curious now thinking she could use this thing to get her brother back. Perhaps it was possible after all. The modern society was odd and she hated it now, it was too bright and full of idiots. "Why are you here- you never answered me that." She stood where she was keeping full attention to things around her and knowing what would happen if she did break anything, the guard would get her-they always did.

Rin didn’t let her frown betray her. Did she really have to work to get this girl’s soul? She cocked her head to the side. “What, me? I’m just a creature of the shadows, older than dirt you could say, and I’m just browsing…I like to get a little fresh air every once in a while, meet some new people, and have some fun.” She let her eyes narrow a bit in humor at her reaction to her mention of the key. “And you looked like fun…” She looked at the dark sky and tapped her lip in thought. “Hm, you want something from there? Odd, what could you possibly want from a world of death…unless…” She looked back at Val. “It’s life you seek?” She watched the girl’s features for some kind of tell that would show her she was on the right train of thought for her. “Let me guess…someone important to you is no longer of this world, they belong to mine now, and you want them back?” She was going out on a limb here, just toying with her for information. “Am I right?” She could feel the darkness within her growing hungry, hissing in her thoughts that it wanted sustenance. She quieted it with an idea that struck her. She wanted to grin evilly at her diabolical little thoughts but she kept the smile to herself and actually took on a look of seriousness. “You interest me, so, no matter what it is you seek…perhaps I can help you?” She said, getting to her favorite part of any conversation. The part where the deal making began…

Watching her carefully she wanted her as her eyes scrutinized her for her reactions. Not letting any thing show she kept a perfect poker face. "If you truly wish to help you wouldn't be of the underworld now would you. Instead you sit here fishing for information. However you are interesting to me so I will oblige you." She took a step back form the circle and took a small breath. "What about the key? Answer me that before I tell you what I seek. I must know what you were speaking of."

Rin was starting to get impatient, but she knew she would have to work if she wanted things to stay interesting. "Seems you and I have a common interest...the Skeleton Key is a crucial part to opening the gateway between this world and the next. It's also has a few special properties, though I don't know all of them. Perhaps one of them is something that could be of use to you...and me." She said, at least giving her a gist of what the key did, the one that was given to Jack by an older entity of Halloween. Aparently he had trusted him more than anyone else in this bloody town, which pissed Rin off severely. After all, if only those fools knew what he really was...She gave a small smirk, knowing this sugar coated act wasn't fooling her. She'd have to be at least 80% real to negotiate with this one. "You're right. Im not here to simply help you. I approached you because I believe you hold some value in me getting what I want as well." She gave a small raise of her brow. "And what is it that you want?" Rin asked once more, though she had a feeling it would coincide with a necessity for that key dangling from Jack's neck. She was beginning to get antsy in this small space, the spell block on her abilities behind to make them strain and shift uncomfortably within her. She ignored the feelings for her benefit though so that she could give the girl her full attention.

"So this key, it can open the door...I'm interested..." She sounded cautious yet interested. Watching her she took a step closer her hair whipping around her as a breeze blew by. "What is it you want per say? I'm looking for my brother. I killed him quite a bit ago in a manner that he can't pass on past there. I can get him back and put his soul- but I just have to get there..." She finally said. Her eyes welling up with sadness. She didn't hide it form this demon she summoned, It was good for them to know she was smart, yet cautious but not heartless...Unlike them.

Rin wanted to roll her eyes at her tears. She was completley without feeling, sympathy, even fear. She watched her for a moment, giving the right ammount of time for a pause to act like she had some feeling. "The key certainly could help you bring back his soul." She wondered for a moment just what she should say for what she wanted. So she decided to give her the blunt answer. "I also want the key...but I believe we can come up with a fitting compromise. Its alot harder to get ahold of than you think...someone gaurds it who isn't going to just hand it over to you." She drummed her nails on the seal. "And that's if you even get to my world...so here is my offer. I can get you to my world, you can get the key, and your brother. But of course, to use my abilities I need some...leverage to make sure I also get a share of the key." The brreze didn't reach her through the feild but she could see the whisps of darkness haloing around them. She could tap into enough of that power to get them both back to halloween town...but the darkness would require a price. She knew that cost would be heavy, one soul may not be enough. Hell if she needed to, she'd throw the girl and her brother to the dark entity and let the darkness swallow their souls up as payment. Just as long as she got her hands on that key. "We'll make a simple blood oath, you're soul as leverage, and I will give you the ability to sustain yourself in my world till the coming of Hallows Eve. If you find your brother by then and convince him to go back with you, and hand the key over to me, you walk free. If not...well I'm confident you won't fail." With a small giggle she gave an eerie little grin. "So what do you say, Red? Deal or no deal?"

Watching her as she explained her side of the deal, she hesitated but looked stubborn. "The guard, how do you know to get the key from him in the first place? and how do you expect me to get it if you can't?" She was watching her face for emotions but she didn't move just yet. "And I now see you are a soul eater for power...I tried hat before, it was nasty business that was...But I see what you mean. Answer me the key question then I will give you my answer." If this demon was for real she was in luck., Her brother was all she had left and she had been struggling to reach him for years. She was hoping this was a good one where she wouldn't get cheated out of something like her soul but if it gave her a chance to get her brother back or to at least see him again, she would risk it.

Rin was cocky, knowing fully well that she had given enough push to at least tempt this girl to think about her offer. But now to put the icing on her little deal, to smooth over the fine details. “Let’s just say him and I go back…way back.” She gave a small tilt of her head at her next question, the twisted humor obvious in her pretty little pale face. “Why darling, it’s because you have something I don’t.” She made an X over her right side, over her heart. She let out a laugh at that, one that would have been maniacal if it didn’t sound so young in her voice. Now she would have to wait for the answer, to get her take before she could do anything else. Jack would be in for the shock of his life-or should she say death- soon enough.

Listening to her her gut was telling her to run away from this and quickly. But her heart was pushing her forward."Very well then I guess I will Accept you offer. I will need to gather some things first. So I will be going tomorrow's eve right? Or must I go now? And If I let you out of this sphere will you not kill me? You have to promise on your claim on my soul to not kill me or its forfeit." she said knowing if they swore on the material so precious it was an actual swear and they couldn't break it for their lives or deaths.

"It doesn't matter to me when you decide to go. You have a week or so left before All Hallows Eve. It depends on you." Rin let her slight temper show at her comment of her breaking the agreement. "Believe me, I don't break my agreements, Red." She said before taking a step back from the field. Even if she was broken from this circle, she couldn't do much. Her darkness was not at it's most powerful and she needed some time to recharge if she was to taken them anywhere
