Taking two steps forward, the breeze carried her hair to the bubble, it vanished like smoke, the cap being removed as well as the seal. The deal was struck. "I will return here tomorrow night. Midnight. I have to rest and prepare spells and such...You know how it goes." She turned away from the girl, trusting her that much and left.
At her home she went to the attic and gathered some things and returned to the kitchen. Pulling out a pot she started adding random things from the list in the book and waited for it to boil. The boring part was waiting. It was a sustenance potion, it would make it so she didn't need to eat or drink, it would keep her well. She was going to make 10 of them, in case she needed another day.

Rin watched the girl leave and floated to edge of the cemetery to take in the scenery of the word around her. She noticed all the people, their funny way of dress and things and frowned slightly. What happened to the good old days when the greatest technology was a bicycle and the people didn't dress like machines. She grumbled to herself and skipped down the street looking for another vicitim to tide her over. She was in a bad mood and needed to hear screams of torment to cheer her up for the night. ~~~ "Jack...Jack...JACK!" Jack jumped looking away from the space far off that he'd been staring at to the old man in a wheel chair that sat beside him. He was a small wrinkled man, with metal craniium and pale skin. He was the esteemed Doctor Finkelstein, the exstrodinary inventor of Halloween Town. He was responsible for the creation of the insta-fog and other great inventions such as the were-wolf pills and the creepy hospital scare tactic. And to be honest, he was the only man Jack had to look up to. After all, it was the Doctor who found Jack in the cemetery that night and had given him his "name". It was the Doctor that even got him introduced to scaring and to the workings of Halloween, took him in when no one else would. For that Jack was grateful, as well as cursed... Doctor had his nose crinkled in annoyance at Jack's inattentiveness, making Jack smile apologetically. "By jove Jack. A labratory is no place to be dozing off! Too many dangerous things-My last assistant blew up that way you know-messed with the pure terror essence, nearly sent me to a second death it did." "Yes Doctor, Sorry." Jack said and the Doctor sighed. "Yes well, what's wrong my boy, you've been like this for days it seems." Jack looked away from the Doctor, hiding the frown that came to his face. "Nothings wrong Doctor..I'm perfectly wretched." He joked lightly, though there was no humor in his voice. "Mhm, sure sure. Now whats really wrong?" Jack sighed and gave the Doctor a small glance. He wasn't sure if he should say it...but he trusted the Doctor more than anyone. Why not fill him in on his dark thoughts? "It's just that...as the days grow nearer to Halloween, it seems as though I'm drifting farther and farther from myself-or perhaps not from myself exactly. See recently an unsatisfiable need has possesed me. Not a need like we feel to scare but one that thirst for understanding-but try as I might I can't exactly tell what it is I want so desperately to understand...." He looked to the Doctor who watched him carefully. "What does it mean Doctor?" The Doctor was silent a moment before he spun his chair around and wheeled over to a table. "That my dear boy, is a quest of knowledge you seek. Every man goes through one a time or two." Jack's curiousity at the Doctor's words drew him over to the table wih the intent of a child being taught. "This quest, can you tell me what it is?" The Doctor gave a laugh and pulled out a rolled up sheet of paper and rolled it out. It was the blue-prints of one of his latest ideas-a person in the form of a woman. Jack llooked over the intricate sketches in awe before the Doctor's word caught his attention. "It is a quest that only you can fufill Jack for it is unique to you alone to discover. Just take a look at this beauty. Took me eight years and now I think I have it at least sort of right, all created out of a persuit of knowldge, Jack." Jack watched the prefessor wheel away back to his work and he stared after him. 'A quest of knowledge huh...sounds interesting.' Jack thought before going back to helping the Doctor with his work.

All her things ready she sighed as she sat down on the stone from last night. She had already taken a potion so she wouldn't have to worry about being hungry for a good 12 hours at least. She was waiting on the little demon, she had made a deal with it was almost midnight. "Come one, I'm ready to get started." She stood up and took a curious closer look at the door. She looked at the carvings and such and the designs. It was pretty, she drew a few of them down in case she got bored later she could draw or doodle with them. She hoped this little demon came threw, hoping she could actually save her brother, but what if he didn't want to come back? What if he was content? She would loose her soul...and his...she hoped she knew what to do.

"On time...impressive." Rin said from behind her, but when Val looked away and looked back at the door, Rin was there. She seemed brighter, her pale skin glowing under the light of the moon wth new rejuvination. It had been a wonderful tasting soul of a young woman, but wasn't THAT amazing. She prefered unique souls after all...ones like Vals. She smiled brightly at Val and offered her her hand. Black spidery tendrils snacked from her back and came forward, floating around her hand. "Now, one quick rule before we leave. Tell no one who helped you, they are very strict about who they let in and I can't deal with all the trouble I'll get in for helping a 'Breather'. For your silence...I will offer you a bit of my darkness to tide you over as far as air goes. The miasma down there is pretty suffocating for the living." She cocked her head to the side lightly. "If your ready then, Red."

She looked back when she heard her voice, she nodded but listened about the air. 'Great...miasma too..' "Ready." She said her voice confident but her hand shaky as she watched the dark treadles. they creep ed her straight up out. She didn't want em touching her.

(Sorry I messed up and made her Orange. She's purple silly me) "Then off we go. No time to waste!" Rin's eyes narrowed and instantlys the tendrils of darkness swarmed the two, spinning round and round them in a whirl wind of black. She laughed, enjoying the spiral of chaotic darkness like it was a marry-go-round ride rather than a spinning vortex of fear. Suddenly the tendrils latched onto Val and Rin before both disappeared into the cold night air. ~~~ "Jack, pass me the worms wart. We need to drug the dog with it before we can proceed any further." Jack nodded taking a few long steps towards the cabnets in the corner and reached for the bottle. He pulled down the brightly colored jar, only to find not a single bit there. "Sorry Doctor but there isn't any." "None at all? Well then go get me some!" He shouted, in a bad mood now that his experiment was interupted. Jack nodded quickly and hurried to the stairs. As more a reflex he slid down the winding banister and landed in a graceful walk down at the bottom. That was one of the perks of being dead, you didn't have to worry about getting hurt or even being clumsy, unless you were a footless zombie or something. He hummed to himself as he walked along the graves, his tallness making him stand out incredibly against the stone angels and tombs. Just as he went to look at the one grave site where the Nightshade and Worms Wart grew. He saw something red catch his eye. He blinked and looked over to see a girl lying on the ground. She was unconscious at the moment, but didn't look too worse for wares. Jack hurried over to her, kneeling down next to her so that he could get a better look. He cocked his head to the side at her, his pale face holding a confused expression. "Miss, are you alright?" He asked shaking her a bit. He pulled back instantly like a man would a snake however. She was....warm? Curiousity took him over at that moment and he poked her, this time on her cheek. Still warm, and her skin looked so peachy and clean. Not a trace of death on her lips or ashyness on her skin. She was perfectly normal compared to Jack's pale face and souless black eyes that he had in his more human form, the one he always used until the night of Halloween or unless he was incredibly pissed off, which didn't happen often. "Interesting. But what does it mean?" He wondered aloud, wondering just what this strange little creature was exactly.

She woke up to a very strange site. A skeleton was staring at her. Sucking in a breath she kept in a scream. "AH...Umm..HI." She said backing away quickly and leaning up against a grave. Her heart felt like it was going to beat straight out of her chest. Her face pale now from fright. She never expected to see any one, much less to be unconscionable alone... The last thing she even remembered was the blackness swallowing her.

Jack frowned at her shock and the fact that she backed away like he was the plague or something...what was that weird expression on her face? It looked all strange and wide eyed like fear? Did the dead feel fear? 'Oh right new people never get the whole dead thing.' But he thought he looked perfectly normal...well...not so normal still pale and with the black, pupiless eyes but at least he had skin and hair and looked alive but not alive technically *see human photo*. Sure he had a hole in his chest over his heart but hell didn't everyone here have something missing? He got to his feet since he realized she wanted distance. "Oh hello to you to, my dear. Sorry I always forget we have such a range of characters here-Sooo-you speak Enlgish-Frances?-Espanoel?-I know very little German but I'm open for giving it a try." For someone that was suposed to be dead as dirt he was energetic, his voice friendly and his actions very open. "And what were you doing lazing around out here? Don't you know it isn't safe. The hallows are quite the little tricksters and deaths chill forbid you meet the monsters that lurk through here, they can be hard fellows to deal with." He said before looking her over. "Sorry, where are my manners but...have I seen you before? I know everyone in town and well-fogive me but-you don't look the slightest bit familiar." He said moving close to her her personal space again. Jack really didn't understand boundaries, especially not with someone that struck his curiousity.

"English and German...My brother and I spoke German...I'm looking for my brother...Do you know him?"As he kept talking she noticed he was nice."I'm Val, its nice to meet you---?" She was expecting his name. "I'm not from around here...I'm only visiting..I think..."She stood up and leaned a little back as he towered over her already. He was very tall, unlike her, but he seemed to be nice enough.

Jack listened to her speak and cocked his head to the side. "Val, yes? I'm Jack Skellington, fits doesn't it?" He said cheerfully though it was very matter of fact. He then though back on what she said about her just visiting and her brother. "Visiting? My dear, I think your mistaken. No one comes here unless they're dead, the miasma would suffocate you. Like I asume your brother should be if he were here too." He said, wanting to be clear with her. He always felt it was best to explain to the spirits and things that they were dead instead of letting them continue to think they were alive. It made moving on easier for them. And this little one was looking for her brother, no doubt he had died before her or with her... "Know him? Well Val, it depends. Everyone is different here, and not many remember just how or...why they're here. And this place is very big...very vast with an array of people. Hard to really tell if you've met everyone." He had a smile but inside his mind that depressing air of wonder was bothering him again. "But don't worry. You seem to be more cogniscent than most. I'm sure you'll find him someday." He said then his face fell as he remebered what he had come here to do. "Oh yes, sorry Val, but I have a task to finish...But if you like, in the morning I can take you to City Hall. The Mayor's currently engaged in a party, and he may be able to help you get settled in....But for now, do you have anywhere to go?" He asked, not wanting to leave a new person alone. The first night could always be traumatic and...he worried that her difference to most here might draw un wanted attention. Not everyone there was like Jack, the Doctor, and the Mayor. They could get testy some times and some were downright dangerous, like little Rin. No he didn't want Rin ever to get ahold of Val, that girl was bad news...

((lol too late )) "Jack, thanks, umm no I don't.And yes, My brother is a child so I'm hoping I find him, he might be scared..." She gave up telling him she was visiting- he would never believe her. Getting up she offered her hand out to him to shake, she wasn't sure if it was best but she hoped it was a good thing down here still.

Jack was surprised when she told him thank you but didn't understand her offering her hand to him. He'd never seen or heard anyone here offer thanks to anything. But that was the purity of new death..."You're very welcome." Jack said and turned back to the grave to grab the herbs the Doctor needed. Afterwards he looked back to her then smiled brightly. "Ah, no place to go? Can't have that. Here come with me. I can introduce you to the Doctor!" He took her hand without seeing anything wrong with it and pulled her along with him. He also was curious to see if he had just imagined her warmth. He felt the warmth radiating into his cold hand and looked back at her over his shoulder. "The Doctor is wonderful. You'll like him and he might be able to help you with this skin problem of yours. You're burning up." He said dodging the graves and things with her in tow. His grip wasn't hard but reasuring as he tried to let her keep up with his long strides.

She smiled, at him but when his icy boney fingers grabbed her hand she all but yelped from the cold touch. It was un natural and it was like-like-death. She follow none the less, making a note not to make contact next time. 'Doctor? this should be interesting..' She thought to herself as he mentioned it in passing. He indeed had long legs but she did her best to keep up, she hoped she didn't actually die down here, she might not like it the best. ((sorry took so long Kimmy...been spacing out on Halloween. totally forgot about it lol you never reminded me LOL)0

Jack didn't care much that she released his hand. He was just confused why she yelped like that. New deads were such odd beings. "Step quickly Val. The zombies like to grab at peoples feet for fun. It's not a pleasant experience. Always pops a bone or two out of place." He pushed the gate open for her, offering it open to her with a cold, but sweet smile. "There you go." He nudged her out just enough so that when the harsh wind passed over and the gate slammed it didn't hit her. The town was dark at the moment, no one milling about. It was a rather creepy looking place, all black and greys and filled with orange light. It looked dismal, haunting, and yet mysterious. He moved along the shallowly lit area, not seeming fazed by the eerieness. Bats flew from an open window but he didn't even flinch, infact he smiled a little. When they reached the correct street for the doctors lab up on the hill, he gestured to it looking down at Val. "Now just a few things about the Doctor before I let you meet him. He doesn't like it when people disturb him so try to keep noise to a minimum. His creations are perfectly horryfying in every way imagineable, but some are fragile, so please keep your hands to yourself. AH and finally, don't commet about his size. He's rather sensitive about his height..." Jack listed off the small rules, hoping she was able to follow the rules. He didn't like having to clean up after people.

When he started talking about zombies she freaked out a it but tried her best to keep composure as she stepped lightly over the graves and did her best not to scream when something brushed her legs, she jumped threw the gate he held open for her, she was more than happy to get out of the grave yard. Looking about the empty town she smiled lightly- it was just how she would have wanted it to be- empty- so she could get in and get out with her soul in tact. She flinched a bit when a pack of bats fluttered out a window and wasn't happy to stand next to the building any more. She stopped a bit abrupt when he turned to look at her. "Got it. I'll do my best." She said her voice slightly shaky but she did her best to keep it contained.
