The air was cold as it came into their lungs, leaving them even more breathless than they were. They were running, they had been running for so long. The sound of snarling beasts could be heard behind them, the blood chilling noises getting closer.
The forest around them seemed cramped and close. They still ran, though no matter what their situation seemed bleak. They had escaped, they had made it so far and now SHE was catching up to them. SHE was going to kill them.
The sound of heavy breathing and the sound of crackling snow echoed in their ears, throats raw. What looked like a bright light flashed in front of them, though they dare not stop. Light was always a good thing in this land. Or so they thought.
The light blinded them and they continued to run. Then there was no longer ground beneath their feet. The air was sucked out of them, not even enough left to scream as they fell to what they assumed was their deaths.
All three of the men fell with a crash into something that smelt of decay. Looking around, they were slack jawed in awe. No longer were they in the forest, being chased by HER and her beasts. They were in some kind of marvelous city that was lit up, even at night. Standing, they brushed off the trash that they had landed in, not caring about the smell.
For a while, they wondered if they had died, but found that they didn't care because it was too good to be true. They vowed to stay together from then on. They had escaped together and would now be brothers.

Briony tapped his pen against the notebook he was staring at. A thoughtful look was on his face as he tried to figure out the puzzle. His train of thought was broken as a victory shout echoed from down the hall. Grumbling slightly, he threw the notebook onto his desk, pocketing the pen. Making his way out of his office and down the hall, he adjusted his suit. It was the evening after work and he honestly hadn't felt like changing yet. His black hair was messy, though he hadn't really done anything to it. Turning into a darkly lit room, he leaned against the doorway and watched as Rowan went all out on a RPG video game. He absolutely loved the things. The way the characters felt real and how he could kick ass and even die, but then come back and try again. It was just completely amazing to him.
A package of Jaffa cakes laid next to the brown haired man, his mouth set in a determined smile. He was so enthused in the action going on the television that he hadn't noticed Briony yet. "Having fun?" Briony questioned, catching the engrossed gamer's attention. He paused the game and smiled, standing.
"Is dinner ready, or something?" Rowan responded, ignoring the humored look he was getting from the other man. He knew he didn't understand the whole video game thing. Layfon was the only one that would play with him. Last time Briony had tried playing, they had had to go and buy a new TV because he had 'accidentally' thrown the controller at the screen.
"No, Layfon said that he was going to order pizza. Want to go check on him?" Rowan chuckled at that. When it came to letting Layfon order food, they either had to do it themselves or send pizza to the neighbors because he ordered so much. Sometimes the poor boy acted like an airhead.
They both made their way down the hall and to a stair case. Descending it, they talked about their corporation. They were the famous billionaire Hayes brothers. They had seemingly come out of nowhere and founded an electronics company that took off within a year. Ever since they had dominated the market, making them some of the wealthiest men alive. Of course, they didn't really flaunt it, preferring to be secretive and stay out of the public eye. That of course could be hard with the youngest, Layfon, liking to party so much.
They weren't actually brothers. They were family to each other but there was no blood relation to them at all. In fact, they were each a different species all together. They even came from a different world, though they didn't think they were aliens. In fact, each of them could find their species in the mythology of the world. It was incredibly odd to them, but they had tried to make the most of it. How they managed to adapt so quickly was a mystery even to themselves. Briony called it luck, Rowan thought of it as intelligence, and Layfon put it off as their charm. Whatever the reason, they had made it big and were comfortable, something they never thought they would be again.
Once they had made it down the stairs, Brionyand Rowan found Layfon laying on the couch a pillow clutched to his chest. The brown haired boy turned his head towards them, a grey beanie on his head. "Did you order the food?" Rowan asked and Layfon just nodded, a solemn look on the man's face. Briony's eyebrow quirked as it was rare not to see Layfon happy. "What wrong?" He questioned, leaning over the back of the couch to inspect him a little better.
"Jenna broke up with me." He mumbled, hugging the pillow tighter. Briony was barely able to contain laughter while Rowan just let it all out completley. "Your kidding? This is why you are moping? Oh my god." Rowan was bent over at the waste he was laughing so hard.
"I thought you were going to break up with her?" Briony questioned, bits of laughter poking through his words to make his sentence slightly broken.
"It's not funny. The woman beat me to it. That never happens!" Layfon responded, sitting up with a slightly angered look on his face.
The only thing that stopped the three from getting into a fight, (only Layfon would see it that way, Briony and Rowan would just find it entertaining) was that the doorbell rang. The gong sounding noise echoed throughout the large house, making the three men quiet in their talking and laughter. "That better be the pizza." Rowan stated after a minute as Briony made his way to the door. The other two followed, though stayed out of the line of site of the door. One wouldn't think that as wealthy as they were that they would order pizza. Why didn't they have a cook make it for them? The three didn't have any staff other than a few maids that came to clean once a week. They liked to keep to themselves. They also liked to order pizza from the same pizza parlor they had eaten at before they had made it big. Call it nostalgia or whatever, it was just the way things were.
When Briony opened the door, low and behold it was....not the pizza man.
