Rin gave a chuckle at her very real joke about Ciel going from a feather wish to glares. “Hey, I can handle glares over having my face rearranged.” He said since he was trying to be more optimistic, even if all this made him nervous. He knew this would be awkward, but how was he supposed to keep traveling with Mercy and getting to know her when he was constantly under the threat of Ciel going for his throat. Besides, the kid had been dealt a shit hand at life. He would never want to lie and hurt the kid when he could just be honest to a point with him. Mercy was his only living family and he did deserve to not be treated like a ticking time bomb. When she switched up the conversation to her thoughts on them together, he gave her a smaller smile at that. He agreed and was glad that she felt similarly and wasn’t pressing him for more than he was giving her. He liked their mutual respect for each other and found that she was perfect for him because of it. The satisfied smile over the sex made him grin back. “I forgot to mention you make me feel so comfortable. Not to mention you make me feel sexy even when I know I’m awkward as hell.” He said with a laugh since he wasn’t unaware with how awkward he could be. At the offer over bringing it up at breakfast, he nodded since that sounded fun. “I think that works. It will be..interesting. I’m sure Aiden will be floored so I need to prepare for that. Should I try to sit far away from Ciel in case he might leap over the table to kill me?” He asked more as a serious joke. The next question about more concerns made him clear his throat lightly, his smile fading. “Honestly, yeah but nothing I think we can answer. I’m just confused why Essa would hand me this ring. It just doesn’t make any sense why she would have it in the first place or know anything about it even if she did. We were raised poor...Our parents were human and very good people, but never had contact with Fey or elves even if there were rumors...My sister Essa was always kind to others, even when Aiden’s father dragged her off to be another concubine. She could have found it that night when Nyx attacked...before she...even if it did belong to a murdered prince or a dead elf politician, why would she give that to me?” He said bebedores he frowned lightly. “Myabe I don’t really want to know. I’m only pursuing this because I think it will help Aiden...Maybe it was what the Nyx army was after? Why else would she ask me to protect some seal?” He stated, more contemplating to the room than to Mercy since he was sure she didn’t have the answers.

At his more awkward comments she giggled since really she found him cute. "I find your awkward kind of flirting attractive Rin, besides I'm hear all the smooth talkers' lines- they get clique and boring. You keep things interesting." She stated with a smooth look since he really did. "As for the seating arrangement, sit next to Aiden, give Ciel some room would be advised." she explained briefly before letting Rin ask his other questions. she listened to his stress and concerns over the ring and nodded, letting him speak fully. "I can't answer a lot of these things, none of us can but I do agree with how odd it is. but if you want to know my guess...maybe it was your aunt or something, I don't know. you do look elven and Fey in different aspects- nothing to your family- but it might be genetic- not your family you love." She stated trying to explain that family wasn't just those you were born with but those you came close to and loved.

When Mercy confirmed his thoughts on his awkward flirting, he gave a small smirk. See, he wasn’t daft or awkward enough not to realize his own errors in life. He just wasn’t used to carrying on like this. Just using people for their information but never engaging them as more. Since when did he become soft enough to let someone in? Let alone someone so different than himself. He gave a sigh since he felt he couldn’t really answer that himself. Instead, he tucked away thoughts of the seating arrangement before his mind wandered to a topic he didn’t quite like. Honestly, his family had always been a point of contention for him. And he often didn’t discuss them openly. But Mercy was trust worthy to him, even if what she had to say about all this was hard to swallow. To be some illegitimate child of the people who raised him as their own for years, with a sister who was old enough to know if he really was born of her mother or not. Not that he felt like he could ask her. Even knowing that he looked different, Rin never dared to ask the question about his origins as a child. Perhaps he always secretly feared the rejection or the pain of not being attached to the only people he loved and trusted. To hear it out loud felt odd, enough so that he frowned and looked away from her. “An aunt...That would make me not the son of a peasant....then where would my brooding exterior go?” He joked lightly but it was obvious this whole thing was weighing on him. “I suppose anything is possible. I just wish it wasn’t a wild goose chance. I had assumed this information would help Aiden but instead this seems to be quest right now to help myself.” He added since if the ring only pointed to his own issues then Aiden would have lost valuable time trying to get his country and throne back.

Mercy had been thinking different from an aunt but didn't voice it since he seemed off about things with the talk about family. At his home she chuckled and shook her head at his humor since she knew he was deflecting. As his words changed fo seem more selfish and not of any help to Aiden shw frowned. "This is a help, whether it feel it or not. Aiden would wish you to know. Besides if he plays his cards right he may have help if he wished to retake his beloved Herena. I'm sure if I March off to war, my father wont let me go alone. Not to mention I'm sure my aunt would love to help out. She likes adventures." She stated honestly but he should have already knew Mercy was going to help if she were able to help.

The news that his own selfish crusade at the moment was a help made his head shake. He knew better than that. He was supposed to be in service to the royal line not worrying over his origins that he couldn't care less if they were confirmed...Right? He moved the ring in his hand, eyeing that elven phrase on the inside. A wedding vow that was etched into Harena metals and Fey stone? Why would a prince of Harena hold onto something like that? His mind went to the obvious, that this rumor was right and he had been engaged to this Elven woman. But then why did she disappear and this prince die in battle? There were no records of their union, not even a blurb about them in the histories. Maybe it was a secret affair? Maybe it was what made her disappear? But that would mean Nyx would want to conspire to kill the future king and cover this up. Why would Nyx care who he married? Unless Harena was responsible, but then why would they kill their future king over a marriage? The logic just wasn't there...But at least Mercy had a good idea of supporting Aiden through this and getting his country back if it came to that. Honestly, they hadn't really planned that piece out since Aiden was currently on the run, Nyx guards were looking for him, and his family was dead, all save his father who was sitting in a prison cell as a captive. Harena was currently under control of Nyx and the world seemed to be reeling over the events still. No foreign armies had stepped in to help yet, fearing what would become of their home if all out war began again. Wouldn't the same be said for the elves who always had high casualties in battles waged in the past against their people? "If he'd be willing to spare help I'm not turning it down and neither would Aiden. As for your aunt, I doubt her husband would let her get involved without him or in her condition. We shall see if we ever get to that point. I'm still unsure of how exactly we take back a country under foreign siege when no one but the king and prince exist. Harena has made few allies. I know currently there must still be battles in the streets, people trying to stand against Nyx...but I doubt it does much without direction. It may be quite some time before Aiden has enough pull under his belt to even think about raising support and an army to retake his home." He said to fill her in on his thoughts when it came to that whole process.

As he spoke, she listened to him and his tones and reflections f his emotions on them. He was upset about this and unsure over his actions and wants. That was understandable here, but she still wanted to help. "My aunt is the most stubborn being on this earth- believe me a war would be the least of her worries. And just imagine uncle Dimitri on the battle field when he is allowed to cast any kind of spells- if any at all- just drop him in the middle- it will do all the damage we could ask for." She joked since honestly the man was a danger to himself. She understood her aunt grew to love the awkward man through travel and spending time together but honestly she was a proud woman- at least he was rich. she chuckled to herself at the idea but let it go after a moment. "I'm sure I can use my own pull to get elves to help-as well as Fey perhaps- we only need a few as they are powerful...and this may be what your homeland needs an abrupt change- and a chance to build these alliances to save it...To have a new start with allies..." She stated in a round about way to perhaps get him to think f this in her type of thinking. As she stated that last bit she sat by him and put a hand on his knee to get his attention that she was trying to help the situation and not harm it. Leaning over she gave him a soft kiss, pulling away and giving him a soft smile. "We will figure this out Rin, one day at a time."

The words of encouragement were appreciated, even the chances of an alliance. That would help Aiden get closer to his goal, but it still was something that would take a hot moment to plan. The kiss was appreciated and he gave her a softer smile. “I’m not denying your resources. Just worried about what will come of it. This is a nation we’re talking about not some army start up. I don’t even know why they would attack. Hopefully actually traveling to Nyx will answer some of those questions.” He said before he leaned a little to kiss her again. He pulled away only slight to give her a softer look. “I appreciate all the support however. Don’t mind my negativity. I am actually flattered you would unleash your aunt and an elven army on someone over my homeland. Gotta day that kind of power and influence is sexy.” He smirked though it was a sincere bit of teasing since he was glad they moved on from the topic of his past.

As he went on about it being a state and not an upstart group, she looked unbothered by it since honestly if it were really the whole of Nyx- they would know it- they had a large standing army and it wasn't just for show. She wasn't about to tell Rin that since it wouldn't help his nerves. She allowed him back into her space to kiss her again, since she liked that interaction with the man. As he pulled away a fraction with a softer look and spoke she gave him a smile since it was cute he was trying to flirt at a time like this. "I know, how did you ever resist me to begin with." She fanned herself in mock teasing back before placing a hand on his neck and moving herself to be in his personal space and pressing her lips to his. She wanted attention obviously but knew he would say if he was okay with it or not, since she wasn't one to force him into anything.

Rin gave her confident answer back to his flirting a smirk. Honestly this woman was going to be the death of him. She already commanded so much of his attention that it was strange to him, foreign in all regards to her. Beauty, brains, and personality all wrapped up in one female half-Fey that showed any inkling of interest in him. Even if she knew that his past may be something else, even knowing that he floundered under the weight of trying to figure out how to help his friend get his kingdom back, even if he struggled to communicate his emotions to her...she still made him feel wanted and desired. He knew he was using her as an outlet at the moment for his frustrations and worries but he knew she would accept it as she was the one currently seeking attention as well. He was more than happy to give it to her, for the sake of being with her and clearing his own mind. ~~~~ Rin was up with the rest of the house, getting cleaned up enough to look presentable. He still startled himself in the mirrors at times when he saw his usual appearance staring back at him. Aiden looked tired that morning, having stayed up late thinking about home. He had considered possibly starting a resistance group, finding those loyal in his home still to the crown. But it was hard to command loyalty on the run. So he would have to start letting people know he was alive and well soon, that he was ready to take back what was hi. That left this whole mess with Rin’s past and this ring. Aiden was starting to believe it was a dead end...but he would stick this out for his best friend. What were friends for after all? By the time they all sat down to breakfast, Rin took a seat next to Aiden and seemed a bit on edge. As Mercy and Ciel joined them, Rin’s nervousness seemed to turn to resolve. He even spared this odd look to Mercy as they began to tuck into their meals. “So...I wanted to mention something while we are all here. To keep everything clear between us all.” Rin began and Aiden noticed the man wasn’t meeting anyone’s eyes at the table. “As surprising as I’m sure it may seem, I...Well Mercy and I...” He tried to get out, but then realized he was going about it all wrong. Flowery language and half truths weren’t the right way to be honest with people. He had to speak his mind and just rip off the bandage. “I’ve been talking with Mercy and found that I like her, quite a bit. And so I started pursuing her romantically. It was a mutual decision that we should tell you two.” Aiden choked on the tea he was drinking and had to cough out his shock. “You’re doing what with Mercy?!” Aiden barked around a cough and Rin shot him a look that said he wasn’t pleased. “I’ve been seeing her, talking to her, flirting with her—however you want to word it Aiden.” He said through slightly gritted teeth since he wasn’t going to go into any more detail than that, especially not infront of a child.

Mercy was dressed in a comfortable dress this morning, a pretty silver color to accent her paleness as she was going for today. Her hair back in a large braid she took a seat next to Ciel and Rin giving them a smile that morning since she had a rather pleasant night wit Rin. As they began eating, Mercy started with her juice however noticed the look she got from Rin and put it down knowing he was going to say the news it seemed. When he stated he liked her quite a bit she blushed a little and gave him a smile however did glance over at Aiden when he choked on his tea. Ciel seemed to freeze in his seat at the initial words and seemed to be watching the table. At Rin's response to Aiden she decided it was her turn to speak as she wasn't about to let Rin do all the talking and take all the heat here. "What Rin said is true, we are seeing each other. I was going to wait till we got some breakfast in but it seemed he was anxious to tell you finally. In all honesty I did approach that topic with him first." She stated smoothly as she sipped her coffee glancing at her brother who seemed to be processing the information. He was calm at the moment but his eyes did seem critical as he looked his sister over, before giving her a nod. "Okay, Thank you for telling us. That would have been a rather nasty surprise to find out later." He stated almost sounding adult about things, making Mercy looked surprise. He grinned at her look, "I can be an adult about things. I'm not 9 anymore and gonna attack a man for calling you pretty anymore sister. I have matured a bit ya know." He grumbled since his sister always saw him as childish but as she assumed this was a good time to tell him, since he oddly reacted well. Ciel did cast a glance at Rin however," Rin- If you hurt my sister or treat her badly- I will hurt you." He stated bluntly with a more intense look before returning to his breakfast seeming to have ignored the entire conversation. mercy ate lite gain since she often did but was expecting the jeweler to come still.

Rin hadn’t expected Ciel to be so calm, but when he was calm instead of a raging inferno of fury Rin felt calm. He was glad he didn’t have to run for cover or keep Ciel from trying to kill him. He was quick and his magic was powerful but he wasn’t equipped to take on a vampire. When Mercy was just as shocked, Rin gave her a half smile. So maybe they both underestimated Ciel’s maturity. The threat did make Rin pause though and give the vampire child a serious look. “Understood.” He said since he wouldn’t even fight Ciel if he did hurt Mercy. He probably would deserve anything the vampire fished out. Aiden still looked conflicted over this but didn’t speak more on it. He felt that he and Rin could discuss this when they were alone. He certainly had many questions, including how Rin managed to convince Mercy to show interest in him.
When breakfast was done and jeweler arrived, Rin and Mercy were shown to a room to meet the man. The jeweler looked excited to see Mercy and gave a low bow. “My lady, a pleasure as always.” He said and Rin assumed that he had done work for her before. “Now is this visit for new business? I heard talk of a ring.” The elf grinned at Rin and offered him a wink. “Lucky man, I’m sure whatever you chose is lovely.” Rin instantly turned red and gave a quick shake of his head. “Not that sort of ring. It’s just an old heirloom we need identified.” The elf didn’t seem to pay that kind and took the ring for himself. He pulled out a magnifier for his eye and looked closer at it. “My it’s very old. An heirloom you say? Well it’s for man’s finger so perhaps this will fit you during the ceremony sir.” Rin wanted to argue but the elf then looked to Mercy with some curiosity. “The piece is of Harena make and has Fey origins with the stone. I would say it was made roughly during the dynasty of Harena’s great ruling parties and then changed to fit a new hand. It has signs of adjustment to fit a larger hand. Not quite so large as Fey but human perhaps? And that inscription was a wedding vow...older Elven. Why it looks like my grandfather’s handy work. Yes I can see the way he ticks the I’s here. Very old heirloom indeed and odd. He only made jewelry for the powerful, as I do for you my Lady Mercy...” He then looked from Rin with a critical look then to Mercy. Does your father know your marrying someone from Harena? To be honest I haven’t met an elf from the continent. Most died off hundreds of years ago.” He said with a haughty frown, now not so sure he wanted to look into this ring now. Something fishy was going on and he wasn’t sure he approved of it.

Breakfast was pleasant after that, surprisingly. Aiden looked conflicted but she assumed he was working that out in his own mind. When the jeweler arrived she went and got changed quickly since she want dressed properly honestly. She changed into a shorter dress, more elven with the colors since it was proper for the city. It was a little flowy but she didn't mind, she rather liked the style. She applied more lip stain and some colors quickly since she looked pale in the pastels. As he came in Mercy gave the man a smile and a nod si ce he had done some pwices for her before, he was a smart man- his family had been jewelers for centuries and knew their stuff. When the elf assumed this was a wedding ring she chuckled and shook her head, especially when Rin's face got very red. When the wlf took the ring she moved a little closer to watch him work since she was Interested. As the man gave a very thorough explanation of the ring she nodded, already knowing it was a mans' ring as any decent fey woman would have worn something slimmer and not so- mixed. When the man gave Rin an off look and suddenly asked if her father knew who she was marrying- That would have been Rin. She blushed but shook her head,"No, my father is aware i have a relationship with this man however marriage is not in the cards at this time. This is indeed an heirloom we are wished to have more information on for many reasons. Plus you know that's no where near my taste in jewelry." She chuckled at the end to redirect the conversation since honestly she wasnt ready for that step in her life and she knee Rin wasn't either. "Now where in Nyx can I find someone who can read the stone? To find its scultper?" She asked at the end to see if he could tell her more since fey stone was special and required special tools and training to even mine much less shape for jewelry. Dress: pin.it/XSL5FjQ

Rin let Mercy speak, since he didn’t know this man and found it best that he didn’t speak often. Besides, that afforded him the option of admiring how Mercy looked in that dress. Honestly, elven outfits confused him with how revealing they were. Humans always gasped at how much skin they showed, even if it accentuated their forms quite beautifully. Rin found himself coming around... The jeweler was able to identify that human had warned us at some point. Did that completely confirm her theory about the human prints and air to the throne being married to an elf? Not completely, but I did bring up more questions. Let’s say he did marry the elf...why were they then killed? And why did they marry in secret? If they were going to have rings that meant permanence and showing the world. They could have just been lovers...so why go through all that if you knew it wouldn’t be accepted. Mercy thankfully jumped in and explained to the man Rin wasn’t being modest. Marriage wasn’t something he wanted now and he didn’t want to drag that into their situation. There was too much going on to even consider changing his mind. But when she focused the question to who of the Fey could answer the final piece, he made a small face of worry. The jeweler looked...off about all of this. He mulled that over a moment before he finally decided to speak. “Aspira Zoya. A Fey artist that my grandfather worked closely with. She’s still kicking I’ve heard and will be a good person to visit if you chose to pursue this...But Lady Mercy might I offer you some caution? The older powers that be in Harena I doubt will appreciate you looking into this past and I don’t wish harm to befall you. I will tell you this. My father was paid handsomely not to divulge his client lists...A few decades back my fathers store was robbed and the only thing they took were his ledgers. I don’t know why but someone wanted that information gone or out of our hands...I worry they may try more drastic measures to silence you.” He said before then looking Rin. “What’s in the past best stays in the past. You are best to go forward with what you have now and let the dead rest.” He said before he placed the ring in Mercy’s hand.

•~•°•~~°••°~~~°••°~~~°••°•~• She quickly wrote down the name, continuing to listen but didn't seem to care for the warning really. As the man explained the situation and his worry before giving her the ring she nodded. "Thank you for the word of caution. I will take those things into consideration however I do feel we should press on with the rings' history. If the Aspera tells us the same- well we won't have much to go on if she won't speak on it." She stated since the Fey could be very stubborn. She paid the man before he left since it was a house call, giving a sigh before looking to Rin. "Well, that gave a few more answers if not more questions." She stated sounding irritated slightly at the situation. Mercy sat closer to Rin and gave going to give him a kiss, more to distract herself since honestly she wanted a distraction from the morning stress and the ring information. The door suddenly opened and I came her father, and several other political partners, and his wife. Parcella was dressed in a dress her husband gifted her resently, made from a designer here in the city, and she was much admired for her many gifts. She was having lunch with her husband and their many political friends- however it seemed the room they wished to visit in was occupied...by her husband's slut child and her playmate. Only pure breed Elven children were to be accepted- the girls' brother was trash as well- at least he knew he was unsightly and to stay away from her. She gave her husband a soft smile before looking at the two who looked a little suprised to suddenly have a lot of oftly company, almost expectantly as if they were supposed to leave now. "Ah! My dear daughter Mercy! I was wondering where you had gotten off to." He stated brightly- always happy to see his daughter who reminded him of his last mate. Mercy sat back a bit but stayed close to Rin, feeling he was tense about the company. "Father, what a delightful suprise, I thought you were at court today?" She asked smoothly and if them bursting in wasn't an interruption. "Oh, no- it's in recess for now, we were about to have lunch won't you-" he was about to offer her to have lunch with them but his wife gave a very loud clearing of her throat next to him. Mercy rose a brow at the woman and the cornor of her eyes narrowed ever so slightly. "I'm afraid that's not advised husband." She stated bluntly giving Mercy a bit more of a down the nose look. Mercy's hand twitched there by Rin but she did well not to cast a curse at the woman. "Oh? Not advised? Why?" She asked calling the woman out. Parcella pursed her lips before giving a smile cover smile," You're only half a lady, since you are part heathen after all. Your dear father had been beguiled by magic and falsified words. I would rather not have my social party dirtied by that sort of association." She stated very bluntly- much to her father's look of surprise- even if all the political guests looked either similar to Parcella or unsure. Mercy honestly was offended by that- clearly by the look that she was going to skin the woman alive- maybe poison her with something extremely painful however she decided to use her words at least for how. "Well that's interesting since it seems you know nothing of my mother, myself or my younger brother. Father." She stated changing the direction of her more harsh look. "Keep your little sex pet on a leash. I will not tolerate her speaking to me again in such a manner. If it does I will kill it." He stated very bluntyl- not giving a damn about who was int he room or the outraged reactions it drew out of the nobles in objection- not fo mention the fuming and tempertanteum prone wife he had collected. She stood up and motioned for Rin to follow unless he wanted to stay and deal with the fist afterwards, she for one didn't want to deal with it, it was her father's mess- let him handle it. She left the doors open behind her without a care as she strolled from the room and went down the hall, finding a quite sitting room across the house and picked up a rather large vase and chucked it at the wall shattering it before giving a huff and straightened dup her hair and brushed down the fabric of her dress to make sure no glass was on it. She needed a moment and something to break to get her aggression out since she honestly wanted to hurt that woman. Wife's dress: pin.it/6xRTvtz•~•°~~~°••°~~~°••°~~~°••°•~•

Rin let her talk out her thoughts and honestly he agreed with her and everything she had to say. They had more questions now that were a bit deeper. So it was a human’s ring that came from Fey and Elven origins....Hopefully this Aspera could give them the answer they needed...He accepted the kiss leaned into the kiss, more to help her with the stress they were both feeling. He wanted to kiss her again but stopped short when the door opened. He pulled away as his eyes slid toward the people there. He expected her father to welcome Mercy to join them but the last thing he expected was her step mother to attack her. Rin’s expression tended at the woman, eyes narrowing as she called Mercy’s mother a savage and dared to refer to Mercy as lesser. Mercy could talk circles around this bitch and could kill her with a well placed poison. She didn’t need to be accepted by her, but he understood that anger she felt at the lack of acceptance. He went willingly with her out of the room, ignoring the people as they passed. He went into the hall and watched her tossed the vase. She was getting her anger out and he understood that need. She had helped him when he was angry and he figured she could use some of the same. He came behind her and wrapped his arms around her waist, kissing the side of her head softly. “She’s pretentious like the rest of the people here. We don’t have to stay in this city much longer. But before we go I could always help you slip something in her tea. Nothing deadly, of course.” He said as he rested his head on her shoulder, hoping to calm her so she didn’t destroy her father’s home and had a chance tog te her anger out. She could yell at him or shove him off, but he had appreciated knowing she was there when he felt low.
