Neve was rather surprised at how Atrious responded, the way he said he would cover for her. It was unexpected for her, especially when she had always had to fend on her own. She didn't exactly want to use him that way, but the idea of it was nice. Rather comforting... She couldn't help the light smile that came to her, even as he said the last bit. It was rather odd that he wanted to be the one she confided in, but she would let him take that mantel if he truly wanted it. "I promise you'll be the first and only to know alright?" She did the quick little sign for a promise before she looked ahead. She let them ride in silence a bit before she spoke up again. "So this place...High Hrothgar and these priests. Why is it so important to see them?" She asked still lost as to why they needed to talk with these old men in the mountains.

HE smiled at her question-since it was filling the long silence there that had been drawn out. "These Priests are the teachers of the dragon born...They teach the dragon born to be one with the voice and how to use different ones and the like. Thats why we are going- my father spoke of them as equals- since they could speak dragon some what...If they admit you- or hopefully both of us... Then you will be the dragon born Neve... That could change a lot of things for us." he said with a smile as he thought of the possibilities of helping others in a dramatic act of bravery and he could help her out- keep her as a friend if he needed to act differently to do so he might even consider it however he didn't figure he could run away from his past or his family.

Neve nodded though she felt that nervous feeling gripping her stomach again. She didn't exactly feel scared of these men, just the situation itself. It was rather fast how all this changed and she still hadn't fully grasped just how she could be the dragon born. So she knew a few words in a forgotten language, that didn't make make sense to call her some fabled hero. "It will change things wont it?" She said, though it made her unease grow a bit. She shook it off with a happier thought and brought back her condifent smile. "It could be interesting to learn more words though. I just wish I understood them though. I mean, I can say them, feel the words power and what it does, but I can't quite understand what the words mean." She said with a bit of a look at Atrious. "Did your father teach you to speak dragon?" She asked, since he knew more about this business than she did.

When she brought up his father he smirked at her," Indeed he did. He made me meditate on the meaning of things for a few days then I got to hear the word- a simple word out of a string of them... He made me say that one word until I understood it fully- understood what it was for- how it was meant to be used and how to add my power behind it- which each achievement he gave me a new word- leading up to two simple Thu'ums... I was sent off shortly after he was teaching me a new one... I haven't completed it...So I don't feel confident using it. I'm more scared to since I was ever taught what it was for yet..." He took a deep breath then let it out with a sigh," The only word I know is YOL...I haven't ever tried it- I'm almost too scared...." he said giving her a slightly shy look wondering what he was getting him self into by telling her things like this- trivial little things and the like from his past.

Neve watched Atrious speak of his father and was impressed at how fond he sounded of him. It was sad to think the two would be seperated however, she knew the gravity of the situation, family or not Atrious was not going to become a dragon priest if it meant danger for them all. She wouldn't allow it, though it mught hurt him to know she kept something like that from him, she wanted to protect him first. She smiled curiously when he said he only knew one word and instantly like a dog excited for a treat her look brightened. "Yol..." She said but the word faltered on her tongue since she hadn't learned it before. "Try it. It sounds mysterious but it can't hurt to try it. Besides, we're out in the wilderness. What's the worst that could happen?" She prompted, excited to hear more of these dragon words and their magic.

He smirked at her adventurous nature," So mischievous Neve... Very well- I might want to try it a bit away from things like trees and the like since I don't know what it does..." He said his voice sounding slightly nervous however it still had its confident under tones. They followed the trail around till there was a small straight away and he dismounted not wanting to mess with his horse handing the reins to Neve to keep his horse there at least the dumb thing bolted. He took a deep breath-closing his eyes- taking a few breaths...When he opened his eyes the word Rolled of his tongue like it was normal "YOL" he shouted- as it echoed slightly as the words Then what was the unexpected fire came from his mouth- it didn't burn him however it simply came like a vapor then into flame along the path where he had shouted. IT singed the ground as well as the plant life- catching a few things on fire. Atrious's eyes went rather wide and he shut his mouth quickly after the fire stopped. His eyes looked at Neve a bit shocked as to what had just happened. He was a bit speechless at the moment as well wondering just what his father had in mind by him learning these things.

Neve gave him a grin when he called her mischevious before nodding excitedly when he said he would try the shout but in a safe place. Like an impatient child, she waited though she was actively thinking about what it would be. She wanted to understand more about this dragon words business and perhaps why it was that they had this kind of magic attached to them. If a normal person couldn't say them and get the same effect then why was it they could? It didn't make any sense really. Like what was a Dragonborn? She had no idea, only that the title came with some odd attachments... She waited as he hopped of his horse, her hands unconciously tightening on the reigns. She watched in shock as the shout began and moments later fire errupted from his mouth. She jumped and the horses flipped, whinnying and moving back to get away from the shock of the boom and flames. Neve's jaw dropped at the flames, eyes wide as she watched the powerful blast. she couldn't exactly fathom what was going on till he suddenly stopped and looked to her. Her jaw snapped shut and she took a moments silence to gather her thoughts.. "Blessed Divines." She began giving a pause before a half laugh passed her lips, "did you see that?!" She hopped off her horse, going over Atrious with an excited grin on her face. She looked at the trail of ash and burn marks then at him. "You just breathed fire! It was like--like a dragon! Whoa you've got to show me how you did that! Atrious you can actually breath fire--" She was like a kid in candy shop practically bouncing with surprise and amazement. She had never seen anything like that, not even with her ice shout. It just froze things in paralysis not let loose a powerful stream of fire.

He looked a ther then shook his head at her excitement," No. Thats too dangerous... and I don't want to be like a dragon- My father was crazy teaching that to a three year old elf... What the hell was he thinking it was irresponsible." He said in a final tone as he regained his horse beneath him and took it along hte trail avoiding the hot spots and made sure Neve was following before leaving he wasn't going to do that again unless he really needed to he was terrified he might kill some one innocent with that- the fire went pretty far and burned a lot in a devastating manner.

Neve's look faded into a frown when he told her no. She didn't like being told no, but because it was Atrious she'd mostly let it go...mostly. "alright I admit it. It's dangerous and yes three year olds shouldn't be using magic or speaking dragon to begin with." She said as she rode up next to him. When she saw his look didn't change from its resolved finality she gave him a raise of her brow and a hint of a persuasive look. "Ah don't be so serious Atrious. It was cool. Admit it, you thought it was cool--dangerous but cool." She said wanting him to atleast lighten up a little. She had to with all this, or else she was going to drive herself crazy with the thought of all the power.

At her second comment his look softened and he smiled at her," It was pretty cool huh..." He said in a lighter tone but he still wan't going to let her learn it- not from him at least. It was too dangerous because if they used it against humans- then they would be considered on the 'dragons' side right? or was that wrong? He didn't know. He was scared to find out honestly, he never really wanted to be like his father in the aspects that he was going to be a priest when he grew up only to have that taken from him as well because his father suddenly left one day...He hand't seen his father's face however-Never had it was always covered with a mask of sorts that he always said one day he would get one of his own if he followed after him and obeyed the mighty dragons- they would show him the way to immortality as well as immense power. He didn't care for those things just what his father wanted- but then things changed when hew as sent off to the College- making him just another Elf at the college- well close to a normal one. His expression stuck in a bit of a frown and a blanked expression as his mind wandered into the darker areas that included his father and his old wanting to become a priest like his father to make him happy to see him as he said he would one day be. He had always imagined his father smiling at him when he became one. That thought however sent his heart pounding from the memory of learning things form his father when he was a child and how he liked it- he kept his face closed and his lips tightly closed as he wanted to ask a badly placed question but he figured that if he could keep his mouth shut it might pass- however he needed something to draw his mind away- anything would do but he was wanting something done in a shocking manner so it really kept his mind from relaying to his father and his own past.

Neve noticed Atrious's words didn't hold the same level of glee she had so she quickly let the topic drop. He was silent a long while, his expression like stone to her worry. She almost wanted to reach out and see if she couldn't talk to him about this, but then what would she say. She had no home life issues and no oneto really think of as parents. She didn't understand the burdens of being a child in that kind of dark enviroment. So really what help could her words be? She touched her side bag briefly where she knew the letter from his father was hidden safely. It brought up a certain guilt in her that she quickly swallowed and looked ahead. She paused when she saw massive ruins on the mountain side, her blue eyes widening when she saw the sheer size of the door on the place. They would have to climb a ways to get to it, but she had heard from the Khajiit that these ruins were abandoned and dangerous. Aparently Dwemer lived there for a time before they could even be properly remembered. Her brows furrowed slightly at that thought, especially when she felt a certain...calling to one of the towers that peeked out of the snow. "Its sad to see the decaying history of Skyrim out here in the snowy expanses...you'd think the Nords would want to care for some of their history." She said unknowingly touching her neck as if something should have been there.

Atrious looked up when she spoke and made a small hmm noise as he looked over the ruin," it's not Nordic... Structure is wrong.see those brass fittings along the door- notes use steel or iron-I would place I as a Dwemer relic..." He said completely oblivious to anything really his eyes not really there. He howeve drew his horse to a slight stop not too far from it and dismounted. "I fell like taking a break, my legs are numb..." He said making it clear he wanted to stretch a bit, he however grabbed a satchel in see he found things he wanted to pick up. He found some blue mountain flowers and some snow berries making it a good stop.

Neve listened to Atrious speak though her mind wandered elsewhere. It was mostly attention on him. He seemed so out of it, lost in his own head that she hardly could think of how to bring him out of it. She knew a way that worked with Ramma, but Atrious wasn't the kind of person the like distractions like that. She sat on a rock when he left her for the plants, her mind wandering to just what could be throwing him off. Even if she knew she couldn't be a big help she didn't want him thinking she was going to be a bother either. Atrious was an odd man for sure, but still a man that needed to breathe once in a while. The only time he seemed to do something like that was when he was drunk. Poor thing... She picked up a stick and traced a few things in the snow, markings that reminded her of the ones she'd seen on that wall so many years ago. It was still fresh in her mind. Her stick skimmed something hard and she paused, taking a moment to remove the snow from it. It was a small cube, one she hardly understood what to use it for. But it was cool so she tossed it in to her bag with the rest of her things and went back to waiting on Atrious to cool down.

Picking them carefully he placed them in the bag and sighed, his mind had cleared a bit as he picked them- his mind getting more focused on how to carefully pick the branches on the plants so it would grow back. He wandered back to find Neve waiting he smiled at her when she looked up," Sorry- My head was a bit fuzzy- I needed to clear it a bit." His mind had made peace with the idea that he was never going to be like his father nor did he want to be like him any more.

When Atrious came back, Neve looked up, her eyes looking him over to see if he was really alright. He didn't seem too serious at the moment, pale or even out of it like earlier. His smile made her smile back. "It's okay. I get it. You're sorting things out." Neve said knowing she was right on that. He was always conflicted and she couldn't blame him. With a past like that how couldn't you be? "Are you alright though, Atrious?" She asked softly, wanting him to be alright, for her friend to be able to carry on.
