Seeing the crowned prince, or rather the new king, Niamh bowed as was the custom and nodded at his acceptance of her being there. She hadn't expected him to be down here so quickly, though obviously that was whe he should be going. Grieving could wait till later when there was a murderer in the vicinity. "I have a keen eye when it cmes to traitors, sire." She responded to his complement, taking in his appearance as she allowed her anger to slightly color her tone.
He was as handsome as he was sharp, his calm demeanor flowing into the servants and most of the others around him. He really was suited to be a leader of some kind, Niamh just wondered if this was the best time for him to shine. He had large shoes to fill really. Looking around, she saw Vin come in and speak to the crowned prince, in her mind she still couldn't call him king until it was official.
Her deep blue eyes fell upon the servant that had served the drinks and the warrior prince had near killed. That was the best place to start after all. If he truly knew nothing then Niamh would be surprised. There had to be someone in the kitchen who had either done it or helped, that or the kitchen staff wasn't nearly as thorough with their food and drink as they should be. Eyes narrowing, she walked towards the man. "Might, I have permission to finish where the warrior prince left off. I promise not to be as rough." she questioned the crowned prince, her posture formal and her words true. "Unless he proves to be responsible of course." she added, with a light smirk. ((will add color to words later))

*For shame Vampy!!!!! lol I've got shakespeare on the brain lol*
Cear listened to Marie, watching the way the water distorted the light on the floor in small waves. Normally he would voice his thoughts, tell her flat out that what she was saying was a whole load of crap that he didn’t want to hear. But…he couldn’t make himself say it this time. He was supposed to be a protector for the people, and here he was acting like a child. And yet Marie was there, trying to comfort him. ‘So strange…what is she trying to get at…?’ But that was just the thing…he couldn’t figure out what she could want from him. He wasn’t the crown prince, or king, just the forever underling. The idea left a slight bitterness to his eyes. He looked to her, a small smirk playing across his lips. “You really are something else.” He said, sinking down a little and rested his head on her shoulder. “I promise it’s only for a moment. Just till the dizziness wears off.” He said with a sigh, his head aching as well. ~~~ Daire blinked at Vin when he spoke and his face fell slightly though into a look that was just as sincere with a hint of concern. “Of course Vin. Anything to help.” He said, looking to Niamh who was looking at the servant that Cear had targeted too. The servant was looking at Niamh, his eyes holding no sign of fear for her. In fact he seemed almost humor that a Meru woman would speak so strongly. Daire however found that not as surprising. There was something about this woman, maybe it was her mystery yet elegance, or maybe it was the fact she reminded him of someone... He thought for a moment, before giving a small nod. “Alright…but understand the soldiers will be keeping a close eye on you Miss Niamh.” He said then turned his attention back to Vin, almost glad to have a moment to speak to him. “Alright what’s this you and my father discussed?”

"Of course." Niamh responded, with a nod, walking over to servant who seemed to not be afraid of her. That was a mistake if she had ever seen one, the male must have not known that women sometimes were more deadly then men; using their bodies to gain trust was an easy way to get close to a man.
"Well, lets start off simple. I'll be nice, though I know that you will probably lie, especially if you are guilty." She leaned forward, her shirt hanging low enough to see just a taste of what it contained. "Have there been any suspicious people around the kitchen lately? The past day or so?" She questioned, though glanced around the room. "If anyone else has anything to say to my questions, feel free to jump in at any time." Her formal tone was gone, her eyes displaying her anger blatantly when looking at the man, though she composed herself whenever anyone else looked at her. A bit of a wicked grin was on her lips as she circled him. It was best to let them know early that if he lied, she wouldn't be getting any nicer.
Her movements were graceful as she walked though hidden somehow, as though she would be able to pull a blade on the man without anyone noticing until it was too late. Niamh wouldn't as the punishment given to him by the courts would be much more sever then a death she could bring right now. She didn't like killing needlessly really, but this was something that angered her. Like when she had found out her brother had been murdered, she was prepared to go and kill every last one that had had a hand in it, though her father had stopped her, much to her disliking.

Maria smiled at his compliment," Thank you Cear. If I can call you such...I am honored to comfort you in your time of need- every one needs to mourn. Its a way of life." She blushed when he layed his head on her shoulder but she move so he was more comfortable there, her also put an arm around him and the other hand was stroking his hair down in a comforting manor. "I don't want to see you upset- you are a great warrior-Upset isn't what your good at so please just rest-I will watch over you." -------------------------- Vin's lips erupted into a crooked smile as Daire asked what he and the king had spoken about. "We discussed how you should be taken into the royal thrown. I am to find you worthy of it. Before I crown you. I was here to crown your father and I am to crown you if found worthy." He felt his eyes glint slightly with a tear as he remembered crowning the now dead king. but he wasn't sure if Daire was ready quite yet. "As well as your mother being in charge till I deem you worthy of king." Vin's eyes weren't on Daire he was watching the Meru Niahm. He was fascinated by her grace but he was sure she was dangerous. "Be careful as well Daire- she is a master with a knife." Nodding to him he stepped around Daire and stood between the two as he watched Niahm. "Niahm- the cook is looking especially nervous over this..." The cook was sweating profusely and was having issues standing still, fidgeting nervously and jumpy. He looked scared as hell when Vin pointed him out. ((any can have the cook- i just wanted a little funny like he dropped a fork or something...idk something not bad just a little funny....thats all lol))

The servant looked at Niamh, gulping a bit when she leaned toward him and then began to circle him. Despite her beauty..she reminded him of a shark. He sat perfectly still, conserving his nerves for when he had to rondevue with the people to pass this new information about Prince Daire not yet being King... Perhaps if he did they would spare his daughter... "Nothing more suspicious than the occasional visiting monarchs and their secretarial offices trying to tell us how to run our jobs. I've worked for this family for 10 years now. Don't you think if I saw something I would say something?" He said, his eyes narrowing slightly when Vin mentioned the cook. That coward was innocent, completely a bucket of nerves after being hired just for the event...the perfect blame card at the moment. "Perhaps you should listen to your superior Miss...the cook is the newest to our staff after all." He said looking away from her to doctor the cut on his neck. --- Cear nodded the movement ever so slight and almost strained. He felt so tired...so achey and sick at the moment. "Thank you.." The words came out unsure, since it was something he never really said to anyone. However, Marie had earned his respect in a way, or at least provided him what he needed at the moment. "That is..definitely a comfort." He let his mind wander so a moment back to the ballroom to the kitchen and such. To where Daire and his mother were. He could see their faces so clearly and knew just why they wanted him away from the situation. He was the youngest and closest to their father...he couldn't help that he was still tensed and ready for something to just come out of the dark and attack, but her hand through his hair was soothing, calming enough that he did let out a small sigh of relied for finally feeling his emotions coming back to him and setting back in place.

Alas, he wasn't going to be straight with her. Niamh sighed, her eyes turning to the cook. Just by looking at his body language, she could tell it was just nerves. Of course, one could never be too sure. "Sir, how long have you worked here?" She questioned. Most people would think if you were to kill of a very high ranking person that it would be the newest member to the group, that wasn't always true. Especially when it came so high up in the food chain. Grudges ran deep and blackmail was always a good way to go. "Anyone, think this man has been acting suspicious." She called out, not really making out as if she thought it was him. Her eyes were back at the servant with a cut on his throat.
"The only way he is superior to me is in status, I do not work for the military or the government." She whispered to the servant while thinking, 'unless I get paid.' Rolling back on her feet, her brow furrowed for a moment, a twinge of pain flickering in the base of her skull. She must have misjudged the time somewhere because that meant she had less than a half hour. She must had really miscalculated somehow earlier.
"And ten years, that really sounds like a long time." She began two fingers on his shoulder as she pressed herself into his back. "Enough time to form and hold a grudge." She purred into his ear. Snickering mentally, she was having too much fun. This was one thing she was rather good at, sure she tended to be a klutz when it came to outright killing someone, but she knew how to sweet talk, seduce, and mentally twist people; if she was in the right mood. However, Niamh was sure that she could get over her whole 'first killings the hardest thing' with this guy, easy. For some reason though, something was pulling at her. Maybe he wasn't doing it out of spite, that was if he really did do it. Though, all of her instinct was pointing at him. She trusted a warriors instinct and knew that the warrior prince had a reputation. Even though it was his father that had been murdered right in front of him, Niamh wouldn't just sit there and believe that all of his senses were gone. ((Hope this works. hehe my character likes to play with her food.))

Maria sighed when he complimented her and said she was a comfort, she enjoyed his company it was a change from the talk of courts to the talk to adventure and war, she loved it. She continued to stroke his hair but out of ignorance she forgot that she was comforting the prince of war when she was just following what her mother always did to her, and gave the prince a kiss on the fare head as he continued to run her hands to sooth him. She blushed when she finally remembered but she let it go- if it worked on her as a child it would work on a grown man. She had seen mother do it to father as well . ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Vin watched as she practically dismissed the cook, he smiled knowing the cook was a meru with anxiety attacks. She was as good as she said she was, that made him smile, approaching the Meru she was looking at with such hate. "Speak your name and who you were working for and what your purpose was. Or I will make you squeal like a catfish." By comparing him to a cat fish it was a threat of ultimate torture. All meru and humans knew it alike and who else better to give it but a Meridian and a meru...double the fun. Noticing her flinch a bit he cocked his head to the side, but still looking at the man he looked at her too. "I trust my Princes. They are on my side as well. Cear is more right then he knows..." He said into Niamh's ear very quietly knowing only she heard him. He then took a step back knowing she was going to do something.

Daire watched the scene, hanging back enough that he wouldn't get in the way. He listened, calculated, observed everything going on in their exchange. That was of course till a gaurd tapped his shoulder, "The Queen wishes to see you and Cearúil in the throne room." Daire nodded, looking to a servant girl that approached him. "Go find Cearúil. Let him know he is to meet me in the ball room." The servant girl nodded and took off for the exit of the kitchen.
The man being questioned looked back at Vin rather calmly, though it was obvious by the glint in his eyes that he was really starting to get scared. He didn’t like the idea of torture by these two, but what else waited for him outside these palace walls? They would get him just as quickly as they could, make him suffer something much worse. After all this Mermidian and Meru didn’t have his daughter, they didn’t have a quite literal blade lingering over her waiting neck. He took in air, a calming breath of determination. He only had his life to lose to them after all…perhaps his daughter would be let free after he was gone.. “Don’t get so full of yourself Meru… Mermidian.” He said, his tone bitter as he struggled not to shiver under Niamh’s touch. She had an incredible charm and beauty, but he knew that made her all the more dangerous. “The Royals aren’t worth some kind of personal vendetta…” He said, shifting as to make Niamh release him and got to his feet. “Even if I was some kind of ‘mastermind’ behind this, what’s to say I wouldn’t be happy that they finally got to taste hardship?” He looked to the other kitchen staff, taking in their terrified looks that were now directed at him with concern. “Please, Kai speaks nonsense out of blood loss. Have mercy-his little girl has disapp-” (disappeared *the word she was trying to say) A servant girl tried to say, touching his arm lightly but he quickly pulled away interrupting her with a vicious glare. “This isn’t nonsense. Honestly, Calista, since when have any of the Royal’s given a damn about us or the people that are starving out in their streets because of all the funds lost to this war…all the families they separated on both sides, some forever so that they could fight a war that was simply for their lust of power…about the dangers they’ve created outside these walls for any man, woman, or child that so much as appears to be from Atlantica? They’ve damned us all to a life of servitude just so we can continue to line their pockets while they spout words and promises to a ‘do nothing’ Council and get their military dogs to do all the nasty work for them.” He looked to Niamh and Vin, standing his ground carefully though the servant girl and the others had backed away. “And I’m not the only one who is sick of it…” He said, looking at each of the two in the eyes for a long moment before letting his head fall. He’d said too much, but maybe that would be enough to piss them off enough to kill him quickly… ~~~ Cearúil had drifted off somewhere between consciousness and some form of hald sleep. He could still feel, still understood where he was and who he was with, but most thought was somewhat muddled. But he did however realize that Marie had kissed him, felt her soft lips on his forehead, and though it was not something he expected he didn't have the energy it seemed to acknowledge it. Though he did have to admit it felt nice, he would have to later remind her that he didn't like people getting closer than needed. However something did stir his senses at the moment, a movement that was very sudden and rather clumsy as if it were trying to get away from the area. He was up and ready for it, dagger out and himself sheilding Marie. "Stay where you are unless you want this dagger between your eyes." He called out to the dark. The person stopped and moved back towards them into the light. It was a young servant girl. Who looked shaken as well as slightly curious. "The Queen, sir, and your brother...they wish to see you in the ballroom to discuss something.." She looked to Marie and then quickly away, not sure what she should say infront of the girl. "Very well." He said and the servant girl bowed low. Cearúil looked back to Marie, his smirk returning and he seemed to gain alot more color. He looked better and strong again though his eyes still held a bit of hurt pride. "I have to go and see my family for while..there is alot to discuss with an empty throne. I don't want you getting caught up in everything that's going on through out the palace, especially when we're not sure who has done this. Till then, you're welcome to stay in the palace. My quarters are off to west wing, the servant can show you to one of the spare rooms. It's safe there, well protected and survelanced." Cearúil told her, knowing he had little time to spend here. He took his leave not staying to check if she stayed or not. The servant girl straightened, looking Marie over once before gesturing down the hall. "So what is your answer Madam?"

Little girl---that was it! That was why Niamh hadn't felt any true blood lust from the man. He really wasn't doing it out of pure hatred, though his little spouting rant might make others think differently.
A sharp pain sprouted in Niamh's forehead and traveled its way down her body, staying in her lungs especially. It felt as though the air was thinner all of a sudden. Blinking a few times, she put a hand out to steady herself on Vin. She didn't care if it looked bad, she would have fallen if not for something to lean on. Though to others, it might have looked like she was holding him back due to the servants harsh words.
She didn't have much longer. Time to work quickly. Steadying herself, Niamh leaned forward and put two hands on the servant's shoulders. "They took her didn't they--your daughter?" She began her hair looking a tad darker and less shiny then before. Her tone was level, her eyes showing that she had completely ignored his little rant, though it had made her want to slap him around some, in fact.... Letting go of one of his shoulders, she planted a rather loud one on his cheek. "That was for your thoughtless spewing of words in a room of those who could kill you and get away from it." Quirking her eyebrows, she forced a smile though the dulling pain began to spread. "Do you know where she is? I can get her. I only work for those that need it the most." She whispered so that only he could hear her, her deep eyes completely honest.
Turning her eyes to Vin, as she waited for his answer, a flicker of unease when through her eyes. "Where is the closest exit to water?" She stated simply, and in a quiet, yet slightly urgent tone. ((Hope this is alright. Kinda need to get back into character.))

Maria was surprised when he jumped up from his relaxed state and had a dagger suddenly. She didn't even know he had one. She drew in a sharp breath in surprise but it turned out to be a maid. "The Queen, sir, and your brother...they wish to see you in the ballroom to discuss something.." She listened to Cearúil offer her a place in his wing for the mean time and she smiled. "Thank you Prince Cearúil..." She bowed to him not as low but still low enough. Looking at the maid and her question she smiled to her," If you would please." She said as he followed the maid to a spare room. It was a large room, normal for royalty. She was used to a much smaller space and more cramped quarters not vast halls. Sighing she sat on the bed, taking a deep breath, she had a lot on her mind. ------------------------------------ The harsh words against the Royal family were pushing his nerves but he understood however- If he himself were faced with such a position he would kill to get back a loved one as well. Vin was listening to the man and his tone understanding it was a forced thing not a personal action he was just making it seem as such he was going to take a step forward to ask the man another question a bit more private question but he was stopped by something. Vin felt her hand on him and his eyes shot down looking at the contact as thought it were very unexpected, as it was. She was looking dizzy as well but he was confused as to why, she was a Meru they functioned well in water and air-unlike him self. Watching her, her skin paling, her hair darkening and her reaction by her slapping the man. He didn't understand it but he let it go- a bit of punishment goes a long way. Watching her lean in he was curious, he perked his ears trying to hear but only heard the last of it. "... need it the most." When she turned to him she looked troubled," Where is the closest exit to water?" a smile statement. He pointed to a door way that lead straight to the out side water source the barrier ending just a step from the door. "Just threw there Miss Niamh." Looking form Niamh to Daire he looked at him to ask him a question, "Am I to accompany you to the thrown room Prince Daire?"

(lol interrogations, love it!) "You are apart of this, as my father's confidant. You're welcome to join us." Daire looked to Niamh's paleness, his look softening in worry. "That is...if everything is alright here." "Sir, your family-" "Yes yes. I'm coming." Daire said, looking the servant over a moment, his eyes narrowing ever so slightly, so that it was almost unnoticible if you weren't looking for it. He left, a gaurd or two following after. Though one staying by the door to get it for Vin if he decided to follow.
The servant (I'm going to call him Kai cause its easier) looked into Niamh's eyes, shock showing from the slap and her words. He seemed frozen in place for a moment, as if actually considering it. "But you can't...I don't even know where she is..." He swallowed hard, looking away from her finally. He'd already said too much, already was going to pay if they found out he said this much already. "Will you tell the others to leave...?" He looked to the servant girl who had tried to help him earlier and she gave a hesitant nod before turning to the other staff. They all cleared out, leaving only Vin, Niamh and the guards in the room. Kai looked down at his hands before very quietly saying, "I'm not sure how this all even started or how I was chosen to get involved...One day Lily just didn't come home. I went looking for her...and they surprised me on a dark street. I couldn't see faces but it was two men, not very old, but older than Lily...They said they had her, that they would hurt her if I didn't go along with what they said. I didn't know what they wanted, I still didn't even know it was the Royals they were targetting till a man showed up to deliver the wine. I went out to meet him and he told me to be sure the Royals drank it..." He looked back at Niamh noticing how pale she looked. He was trusting her with not only his life here but that of his daughters. For some reason, though not sure why, he felt she was capable of handling this. "Punish me. I've sinned against the family, but not out of hate for anyone. I just did what I thought was best for my daughter." Kai said bowing deeply to both of them.

Nodding at Vin's answer to her question, Niamh turned her attention to the man. He seemed to be wanting to give more information and then, he finally decided too. Listening through the building pain, Niamh nodded her head. It was a tragic thing really, though she had some sources that she could check with.
"I don't know what your punishment will be, but I do think I can help. You said her name was Lily right?" She commented and glanced at Vin. She wasn't really paying attention to most of what was going on but she did notice that Vin might be leaving soon. Nodding her head, she patted Vin on the shoulder. "He's all yours but be nice." She said and began walking towards the exit. She didn't care if he followed but she needed out of the air. ((I know its short, sucks but kinda bad muse))

When she patted his shoulder he assumed she was leaving then. "I'm always nice..." Was his returning answer as he watched her head towards the door. "I would like you to accompany me to a room, where you will be surveillance, I will post pone your punishment till we have returned your daughter, Miss Niamh will assist. Guard- accompany this man- I have a meeting to attend." Taking a deep breath he watched the man leave with the guard. Strolling at a quicker pace he went to the dinning room to see the queen, the Warrior prince, Daire all standing, waiting. He approached and bowed low to the queen.

The Queen looked different from her usual beauty, this new look hard and shaken. She looked like she would fall over in a couple seconds, like the only thing holding her up right was her perfect posture and her hand that dug into the chair she held. It had been her husband's seat earlier that evening. “Welcome Vin. Please rise.” She said her voice course “I’ve called you three here…to discuss....” She said as if saying the actual event pained her horribly. “Your father was a good man…but dwelling on the past of a good man is not going to help the people.” She looked to the men in the room with her. Cearúil was looking at their mother, his eyes intent and determined. Daire’s stare was a lot softer, understanding their mother’s pain and all but mirroring her sadness. “What the people need is someone to lead them. And I’m afraid things mustn’t drag on too long for deciding who that leader should be…Vin I was told by my son Daire that my husband spoke to you about the coronation. That you are to be the judge of character to see if he qualifies? Please decide in haste. The throne cannot sit empty for long.” Cearúil looked to their mother, his eyes questioning. “But you have the power right now Mother. Can’t you handle things till Daire is ready?” “It’s not that simple Cear.” Daire said, looking away from the Queen’s sad looks and to his younger brother. “By law the Queen holds the seat of power if no heir is present or fit to take the throne, but her power is very limited. And not many aristocrats will trust a woman to deal with governmental issues let alone one that is still grieving…”Cearúil wanted to tell Daire to shove it, that their mother could handle herself quite well…but he knew there was truth to his words. Society was built on the foundations that the men lead while the women bonded. In royalty they were the dignitaries, the mothers, and the hostesses, not heads of a powerful empire. Even Cearúil had a slight unease about allowing his mother in a time of great distress to try to run a government… “And because of that my sons, it is not in my interest that the High Council wishes to speak to you two…all of us, to prove our innocence in this murder.” At that Cearúil couldn't help the anger battered against his composure, his temper seeping into his words as he said in shock, “The High Council suspects us? Why in hells name would we harm our father?!” “It’s a common sign of treachory when a king dies so suddenly...in such a public setting." Daire said, recieving a peicing look from Cearúil. "It's ridiculous-Vin will even tell you that we had no motivation to harm him. We have nothing but the utmost respect for him!" "Then this should be easily decided my sons. They simply wish to make sure they've assessed every possible aspect. Remember Cearúil, we may hold the crown but the higher issues are judged by them." Cearúil watched the others for a moment, before his head lowered. Daire gave him a sympathetic look before looking to Vin. "The kitchen...did you find out anything more Vin?"

By the time Niamh made it to the water, she felt as though her head was going to explode and her body fall apart. Diving into the crisp, cool water, she tore off the amulet. Her body shifted quickly, and explosion of relief forcing her to close her eyes as she slowly floated downwards, not caring where she would land, the string of her amulet clasped tightly in her hand.
It was something she despised so greatly. She had been given a gift, the gift to be able to walk in the air. Though, that gift had its price. She could have lived without it, never known the usefulness and wonders it could bring, but alas she had been shown and now she didn't think she could let it go easily.
Her fin touched sand at the sea floor, the moon just barely reaching the bottom of the underwater city. Glancing up, her body shivered as it finally finished adjusting to the sudden change. It was never a pleasant thing, her body practically being forced to change the way it did. Always it had that side effect of pain if left to long in the air. However, she was glad she had used it tonight or else she would have missed such a historical even, may the kings soul rest in peace.
Putting the amulet back on, the carved object burned when it touched her, even through her clothing. Getting her fin moving properly, she made her way towards the underground of the city. It was time to go and ask some questions about a kidnapping.
