Susanna watched them all look at the Water Nymph about t eat a raw fish but in her game - they the fish that way- they didn't have fire under the water as it was. She shrugged but smirked a bit at how awkward he looked for a minute before commenting a little joke after Monica asked about looking in the markets. "Good call Layfon- I don't think she would wanna kiss you with the raw fish taste." She said to him as a joke as he smirked before going back to her own little food, knowing it was in a bit of odd humor but hoped he took it well. If Rowan ate a raw fish like that- she would settle for a cheek kiss- sushi wasn't her cup of tea really.

Layfon gave Susanna a humored laugh, though it was a bit obvious he felt a bit awkward. He didn’t particularly enjoy the feeling of having being self-conscious. He couldn’t’ help the embarrassment of it all wriggle into his mind which caused him to feel ashamed with himself. He should not be embarrassed by what he was. That was improper—the words his father had often spoken to him when he was a child rang through his mind and a flash of irritation crossed through him. He had been remembering his father a lot lately and that irked him. The two had not gotten along well before Layfon had run away from home…A part of Layfon felt guilty for it and he wondered how his family was doing. The news that Abu Abu had given him about part of his people breaking their treaties and joining with the Fey Queen had disturbed him greatly. He was drawn out of his thoughts by Monica’s voice. It was so sweet sounding to him. He knew she wasn’t innocent but whenever he looked at her, he felt better. She had accepted him and his feelings towards her were genuine. He didn’t want to spoil her as he had for the many humans he had been with in her world. She was different. She was sweet and kind and had made him feel as though he could belong in their group. What he was—what he had done…it was something he could deal with as long as she was there to tell him he was okay; that he wasn’t a freak. He smiled as the skin on his fish crackled a little from the fire and nodded. “I don’t see why that would be a problem. The markets can be a good place to find out information so I’m sure we will be spending a good amount of time there.” He replied to her, his eyes catching Rowan’s thoughtful expression. The idea of the market place had triggered a thought in his mind. They had no currency from this land excluding whatever Baelavain had on his person and Rowan doubted the elf would be so kind as to share with them unless it benefited him very much so. They also had very little that they could afford to trade. Maybe… “It might be a good idea to stay in this town for a little while. Assuming that it is safe, I think it would be a good idea to spend a day or two gathering information and maybe picking up some odd jobs so that we have some currency to exchange for goods we might need in the future. We might have enough supplies for two or three weeks, but after that…” He trailed off. Rowan realized that his words alluded to the fact that he didn’t believe this would be a quick journey. He hoped that wouldn’t scare the ladies but that was the fact. If they had expected a short, fun adventure than they were going to be sorely disappointed. Rowan was sure that wasn’t the case because the three seemed to be rather level headed in the sense of expectations. Sophine especially, though he had noticed quite the change in her behavior over the past day. IF it was possible, she seemed quieter. He had to admit he was a bit concerned about her, but he didn’t have time to think on it overly so.

Monica smiled at the idea of getting to see this market place and even the people honestly. She actually was curious to see what it would be like to be a part of a world unlike her own. She always talked about traveling when she was out of school, but why not start a little early? Besides, maybe in time she would get to see where Layfon was from. She had gotten to talk about it with him once, but the topic was brief and vague to say the least. She wasn't sure what made Layfon a bit more closed off as of late, but then again, really was he ever that open with her? They had just gotten to know each other somewhat when things went to hell in a hand basket, pushing her to make a very big decision regarding him and the possibility of their relationship even being a thing. She didn't regret following him here, neither did she feel she was wrong in telling him that she really did like him beyond some pretty face she would have dated in the past. Now she would be lying if she said she didn't agree to letting him approach her the first time they met because he was hot, but also he made her laugh and feel happy. Few people ever did that for her in her life, besides her sister of course. Layfon actually made her feel safe in all this. Monica and Sophine had a similar look of thought on their faces when Layfon mentioned spending time in this town to get money and information. That was going to be an interesting experience to say the least, but at the expense of them getting immersed in this world a lot faster than the girls felt they were ready to be when they knew little to nothing. "Whatever needs to happen..." Sophine said, her eyes on the fire since she had stopped eating to think about the idea of working here in this world. "Good, it will give me a chance to get better at fighting so I can kick your butt next time we spar." She said around a bite of cheese, before she set it aside and gave a stretch. She was achey and feeling like she was done eating and ready to curl up and sleep. She would have preferred a bed, but she guessed she could handle the ground as long as the others were close by. Sophine snorted at the idea of Monica kicking anyone's butt, since the girl was a bit of a prima donna when they were younger. She liked to be clean and didn't mind being girly. She was a pretty city girl that would have a hard time adjusting out in the wilderness with travel. Sophine at least had some camping experience from her times her and her ex went on overnight hiking trips or trail treks. She loved the outdoors, but to an extent. She knew for sure that this trip was going to be a while, long and rigorous with danger and hard times to come. But she hoped to get something out of it...especially if it was the peace of mind that Briony was at least safe...Channeling the feeling that bubbled up inside her towards something else, she decided to respond to her sister that had looked at her when she made a noise of humor. "Please, you'd flip if you broke a nail." She teased softly, drawing an incredulous look from Monica. Her sister never talked back, at least not when she was being quiet as she was. Monica stuck her tongue out at her in response, childish but it got her point across she wasn't too offended. She could still kick her sister's ass.

Susanna watched as Monica seemed almost excited about the sound of working in the little village- they didn't even know what that would entail. However at the comment about her kicking Layfon's butt in a fight made her clap a hand over her mouth to keep her food in when she laughed. Clearing her throat she huffed but smirked, glad Sophine said something before she did. "She has a point Monica, but your closer then she is to it." She said with a lightly humored tone knowing this was going to be a long night. Things had progressed slowly today and it was a hard trail to go on- but they managed. She was determined to show that she was strong enough to be there by not needing help. She knew Rowan had more then enough on his plate with out having to help her, so she was determined in this. "I think its time for bed however. I'm sure we have another long trek ahead of us tomorrow..." She said making a joke no matter how true it was. She ahd finished her ration and was going to pass on the fish- not really feeling like eating it, her tiredness getting the better of her. Getting up she got her bag- going to use it as a pillow since it was soft enough- better then no pillow other. On her way back over she gave Rowan's shoulder a light touch- more as a good night since she knew better then to be clingy to the poor elf. Heading back over to her spot she settled into her spot and laid back, looking up at the stars- the fire not dimming them at all.

The fire was now just burning embers and coal, the dim light it cast giving eerie life to shadows. Its heat was still plentiful enough to keep the chill out of the surrounding air. Layfon lay awake on his makeshift mat of a thin blanket. His head was turned towardsthe water, eyes watching the reflection of the orange firelight dance across the gentle ripples of the now black waters. The sound of the falls was comforting like the rush of the water in his ears when swimming recklessly amongst the frozen corals of his old home. A pang of home sickness shot through him, anger quickly following. He did not like the fact that he missed his home. He could practically hear his father’s voice echoing in the throne room: “You must always stick with your convictions. If not, than you are nothing more than a weakling and a coward.” It frustrated him more when he realized that he was worried if his father was even still alive. Rowan was not sleeping either. He was not on the ground even pretending to. He could hear Baelavain moving about, though not far from camp. Rowan stood at the tree line and watched as the high elf preformed a warrior’s meditation. He knew that Baelavain could tell he was watching but he gave no sign, the fire elf’s presence seeming to not bother him what so ever. It was how they stayed for quite some time as well; Baelavain in a quiet trance and Rowan the solemn observer. Baelavain made his way over to Rowan when he had finished, Rowan only shifting to the side as the high elf stood next to him. “These—children do not know what they have gotten themselves into. They had not even one thought of placing a sentry to guard camp.” Baelavain spoke after a long silence. Rowan pursed his lips and nodded his head. He enjoyed hearing the sound of his native langue on his ears and he wouldn’t lie and say he wasn’t pleased to be able to speak it once more. ”They will learn and acclimate quickly. Do not underestimate a human’s will." Rowan replied simply, his eyes which burned like the coals of their dwindling camp fire turning to Baelavain. The high elf simply shook his head and did not respond. ”I see, however, that you have taken it upon yourself to be our sentry?” Rowan questioned with a nearly mocking tone, his expression one of sincere boredom. Baelavain’s golden eyes met Rowan’s and they shared a look. Rowan challenging the other elf to say that he wasn’t there to spy on them and Baelavain daring Rowan to accuse him of it. When neither answered it seemed to Rowan that they shared a silent agreement that this was a conversation they would not breach unless absolutely necessary. The morning came quicker than any would have like. Layfon had drifted off into a fitful sleep sometime between the darkest hour of the night and dawn. He rose and packed away his blanket feeling as though he had been pounded into the ground by a two ton elephant. Rowan watched with interest as the girls all rose. There was enough noise in the camp from the boys that they shouldn’t have been able to sleep any longer.

Monica and Sophine separated from the group as everyone went to go about getting ready for sleep. They ended up nestling down near the fire, Monica actually sticking close to her sister and them sharing bags to sleep and used their jackets to sleep. Sophine was out like alight after her fitful sleep the other day but Monica was awake a little longer. It wasn't much longer, but long enough for her to imagine seeing this town for the first time. After that little talk over the fire, she was determined to show the others she would survive this place. She could do it, she was strong enough to help out. She didn't want to be a burden to the others after all, especially not to Layfon. He seemed so stressed and uncomfortable, like something was on his mind and he wasn't keen on sharing. She wouldn't push him for now, but if he still refused to tell her what had him so down, she would be asking him. She just hoped he stayed as honest with her as he was trying to be after she found out who he really was... They awoke up with a start from all the activity, Sophine up a bit faster than Monica. Monica looked a little bit like a zombie on her feet, having to go over to the water to wash the sleep from her face. She splashed water on her face, using the water to slick her hair down from the frizz around her head. She chose to braid the curls into one thick braid like she did when she was younger. It was hot and she wanted to keep herself cool. She walked over to the group, stretching up on her toes. "Morning everybody." She said over a yawn wanting to be at least friendly to the people that seemed so ready to go. She was supposed to be doing better after all.

A few shuffling noises woke her up, making her sit up and ended up giving Layfon a dirty look for waking her up. She didn't mean anything from it, and she was sure he understood, she wasn't very nice when she woke up. She packed up and didn't speak, simply waited till others were ready, Sophine seemingly ready quickly as well, Monica was too perky this morning for her however. "They don't have coffee here do they?" She asked more as a rhetorical question in slight misery. She said it more to Sophine who understood her morning grouchiness but knew it couldn't be helped anymore and she would have to deal with it.

Rowan chuckled with amusement at Susanna's reaction to being woken. Layfon only quirked a brow in her direction at the glare he received. Honestly, he felt it a bit unfair as he hadn't been the only one making noise. His rather disgruntled expression faded into something softer as Monica greeted everyone, her braid a hairstyle he hadn't yet seen on her. He quite liked it though. Standing after packing away his blanket, he swung the bag over his shoulder and moved over to where she was. He flashed her a light smile, eyes bright despite his lack of sleep. He didn't need a whole lot anyways. "I like what you did with your hair." He said and then felt rather lame. That wasn't his usual smooth self. He felt like Rowan....that elf could be pretty awkward at times. Susanna's comment on coffee garnered a roll of the eyes from Rowan, however Baelavain's nose lightly wrinkled. He had just walked over to the little group and though his presence was obviously not comfortable for everyone else. "Coffee?" He repeated the word with an obvious air of curiosity, the word foreign to him as his pronunciation seemed less smooth than his usual honey tongued ways. Layfon heard this and turned his head from Monica. He had the look about him as though he was going to tell her something, however he used the excuse of Baelavain's words to stop. He smiled widely and clapped the taller male on the shoulder. "It's the bitter drink of morning champions. Do you know nothing?" Layfon said in a mocking manner, his tone deeper than normal. He chuckled and walked towards the waterline, filling a canteen before their journey for the day began. Rowan pulled out some bread from his pack before slinging it onto his back. Be broke it in half, offering it to Susanna. He honestly was trying not to smile at the usually stoic Baelavain looking flummoxed. "I know it's pretty quick but we should get a move on. The sooner we get moving, the quicker we can find somewhere than the ground to rest our heads." Rowan said after. Few minutes of everyone packing up their thinks. He walked over to the fire and stepped on it, the coals burst to life for a mere moment before going cold, as though there hadn't been a fire for many days. He didn't want anyone to know they had been there now did he.
(I know it's a bit slow but I wanted to just get a feel for my charrys again before we got back into the swing of things :]))

Sophine gave Susanna a nod, knowing the pain of missing caffeine. Hell she was already missing a decent bed. She stretched, her aching back cracking from the stretch to some relief. Her eyes went to the others, as if checking to see if there was anything she could contribute to. When she found nothing in particular, she grabbed a piece of cheese she hadn't finished the night before and munched on it to help wake her up with the sharpness of the taste. Monica on the other hand sounded cheerful, something not totally unlike her normal self, but Sophine knew she was trying hard. Monica's attention when to Layfon mid stretch, her eyes going to his rather lovely face. God he was pretty, perhaps that was the reason she would probably stare at his smile all day if she that wasn't awkward enough to make her psychotic. Maybe that just came with the package of being a nymph, that uncanny magnetism that made someone want to be close to them, to have that smile be directed their way. However, Monica knew that wasn't the case, at least not entirely for her. She liked to see Layfon smile because it was such a warm smile that made her feel better seeing it. She wanted to be around him because he made her feel safe, because they got along and because he actually seemed to care. It took a lot of courage for him to tell her about himself, especially knowing that it could have ended way worse, probably should have ended way worse. But Monica liked Layfon...and she wanted to see was fhere things went with him. Even if it wasn't romantic in the end due to whatever stigma this world seemed to have towards him, she still didn't want to even lose him as a friend...a cute friend that she wouldn't mind seeing naked or a kiss from occasionally...She dispelled the awkward little inner dialogue as she eased down from her tip toes, her expression turning slightly coy at the compliment on her hair. Wasn't he usually the suave one? The cute compliment made her smile, liking it since she was still getting used to her hair being bright red again. "Thanks. I get to keep the hair out of my eyes and look good too, huh?" She said, to play off his comment since she sensed he noticed it wasn't as smooth as he usually was. She saw he wanted to say something, could feel it in the air between them and she moved a bit in his direction. However before he could say it, he seemed distracted by Baelavain's questioning tone over coffee. She frowned some, but tried not to look so disappointed that she missed something, covering it up by getting to work packing. They would have more time to talk later, she knew that. Well time or not, she was going to get something out of him one way or another. Monica could be very persuasive, especially when she was being persistent.

When he offered her some food she took it lightly not wanting to be rude to Rowan who knew she liked to sleep in and be more of a night owl. "Morning." She mumbled to Rowan more as a greeting and a way of saying thanks for the food. She munched on it until it was time to head out. She felt a little more away but still looked a little disheveled since she still had bed head. Her blonde hair felt heavy in the morning humidity however so she made a small frustrated face as she pulled a hair tie from her wrist and did her best to put it up in a pony tail- it swinging a lot as she walked, annoying her. With it up it was brushing just bellow her shoulder blades making a tickling sensation almost but she did her best to ignore it as they moved on.

They hadn’t been on the road long, everyone still seeming to try and brush the last of sleep from their minds and bodies. Rowan had taken the front as seemed to be usual and Layfon kept towards the back, keeping track of where the river was to flow in relation to their trek through the wood. Baelavain wandered back and forth as he had the day before, however, his attention seemed to be straying from the landscape as Susanna began pulling her hair up. It’s light blond locks seemed to shine in the light and he frowned at how she placed it. It was obvious that it was still bothering her, its length and color much too nice to simply be thrown about her head as a man with long hair would before war. He slowly moved closer towards her, his expression rather neutral as he decided her hair was nearly equivalent to his which was saying something since he was a high elf and she…well he thought her to be human but parts of her reminded him distinctly of an elf. He hummed to himself before stepping up behind her and removing her sloppily placed hair tie. He stretched the strange material and blinked before pressing her in the back with a finger to keep her walking. He ran his fingers through the ends of her hair and in less than a minute, he had quickly and efficiently braided her hair so intricately that it was up off of her neck and in no need of a hair tie. He wordlessly placed her strange stretchy hair tie into her hand and walked to the other side of the group, his expression as vague as ever. Some things just bothered him and he wanted them fixed. Layfon had watched the whole spectacle with some amusement though he was a bit concerned. He didn’t think high elves generally lowered themselves in that manner but…he had been gone for quite some time. Instead he focused on the landscape around him or at least he tried to for his eyes continue to go back to Monica and his mind circled around the many thoughts he had about how she felt about him and this situation. He wanted to tell her about himself but then feared what the repercussions might bring. It seemed he was in a difficult place of wanting to be at her side and being afraid of hurting her or being hurt in turn. Rowan was aware of something going on behind him but he chose not to turn around and instead continue on. He wanted to get a good amount of distance between their last sleeping grounds before they took a break in the afternoon, as he knew they would need to. He was their leader for now, or at least that was what he had made himself into. He had a military background and while he still knew little about Baelavain, Rowan was the most trusted of the two. Layfon had some military experience and though out of anyone here, he might have had the most authority in a way; Rowan did not expect the youngest non-human here to take up the reins. He was much more accomplished in the ways of being covert than covering ground with a large group anyways.

Sophie felt like they were on a very tedious and slow march. Despite the fact that it was through a beautiful almost scenic territory, it was still a long and quiet sort of trip. No one really talked much, besides the little exchanges here and there over where they were headed. Mostly Sophine kept to herself, all the while considering exactly what she was doing there. She was no athlete or warrior, that much was clear by her lean but hardly muscled build. She didn't find herself pathetic, but when she really got a look at even Baelavain, she realized just how out of touch they were with this world. She wouldn't dwell on it, but she knew Rulinju and his cohort of generals had a point. They had no business being there. Feeling like she was being a downer, she gave a puff of air, realizing the jacket she had on was making her sweat and her face turn a rose color. She pulled it off, ignoring her inner voice telling her the bracelet was a bad thing to be flashing around. However, the weird unremovable trinket had given her few issues other than being cumbersome, so she decided to spare herself collapsing from over-heating and walked with some confidence near her sister. She looked up and caught sight of Baelavain fussing with Susanna's hair and her brows went up, concern etched into her face. He wasn't hurting her, but why would the elf that seemed keen on keeping to himself suddenly help out Susanna?
Monica, unlike her sister, was having a good time with this place. She was curious about most things, but this world interested her. She made a point to take in the nature of things around her, stopping a few times to look at some wild life and plants that interested her. She was a city girl, but she could appreciate how amazing this was. To be in a world outside your own was terrifying in some aspects but amazing in others. Too bad she didn't have her camera there...She would have loved to gotten a picture of just how blue the sky was, green the trees and how clean and almost untouched everything looked. Hell even a nice picture or two of how miserable her sister looked in the heat, or the way the sweat on Layfon was rather interesting. He seemed to still be in that odd place, not really talking much which was rather troubling. She wondered about going over to him and seeing about saying something, anything but failed to think of what conversation to start. She never was bad with conversation before, but with him now knowing what he was and not exactly who this man was, was a bit difficult. She got to know Michael in a sense, but Layfon seemed to be much further from Michael. She gave a hum of thought before balancing up on a fallen tree that was bigger around than she could fit her arms. She gave a yip of surprise when a snake slithered out of one of its hollows, nearly falling off but ended up stumbling over to her sister. "Can you try not try not to break a leg?" Sophie muttered and Monica gave her a dirty look. "Oh hush, snakes are gross and you know it." She said, glancing back a moment as if checking to see if the thing followed. She was afraid of them, just a natural fear born of her mother. She found them utterly creepy, but she guessed out in the wilderness she needed to get used to them...just at a distance...

The walk was arduous but it was gong to get them closer to sleeping on something other then ground she was game. Her eyes stayed on the ground most of the day since the terrain was a bit off but she was slowly getting used to it. She did spare a glance over at Rowan a few times liked how he naturally took the lead and was supportive when needed. She liked that about him but it seemed her thoughts were a bit too distraction to suddenly feel her hair slip from its hold in scrunchy. her hand automatically flying up to catch it perhaps before it fell on the ground she felt soem one behind her. She made to stop walking but a prodding finger made her keep walking making her frown at what exactly was going on. Glancing behind her she saw Baelavain and he was examining her hair tie with a complex look before he went to look at her hair. She gave a small sound of protest when he reached out to touch her hair but ended up letting him since she didn't wnat her hair yanked. When he was done, he passed her back the hair tie and left to the other side of the group looking like nothing had happened but her expression was a little off. She was rather unsure what was going threw that elfs' head- not honestly sure she wanted to. Her hand went back to examine what he ahd done to find it was a pretty intricate braid that was holding her hair up, not that she minded. She gave him another glance before softening her harder look at him, knowing the elf meant well to help her he just scared her in the process.

Layfon had his hands behind his head in a relaxed manner. The heat of the day made him sweat and his tongue feel dry in his mouth. He drank the most out of everyone, his species preferring to stay hydrated despite the fact that he could process water at a much more efficient level than humans. His attention strayed from his surroundings when he noticed Monica walking along a large fallen tree. He eyed her with amusement as something scared her and caused her to run towards her sister. He moved over towards them and stood behind her before blowing air between his teeth and making a vibrating noise to mimic that of a snake. He chuckled at her reaction. “There are worse things than snakes in these forests.” He spoke ominously and looked around suspiciously. He squeezed his way between the two sisters before wrapping and arm around the both of them and bringing them in as though he was going to be telling them a large secret. “When I was a young fishling, my older sister told me that the mountain forests in the southern lands were filled with great winged serpants that had a taste for human flesh and small children of the Leshy that nibble on the bones of weary travelers.” Layfon looked between the girls with a face that spoke of being completely serious though he was trying hard not to laugh at what he was pulling out of nowhere. He glanced down and noticed that Sophine was no longer wearing his jacket, the Queen’s bracelet no longer being covered. He thought of saying something when he yelped as his hair was being pulled and he was forced to let go of the two girls. “Don’t tell them lies. You might as well say that Briony was born under that tree.” Rowan said and rolled his eyes, waving towards a tree so tall and old that it looked as though it could barely support its own weight. Layfon was rubbing his head where Rowan had pulled him away and giving Rowan a sour look. “I was going to tell them I was joking!” Layfon wined as Rowan turned and caught sight of Susanna’s hair. “Spoil sport.” Layfon muttered before shoving his hands in his pockets and kicking a branch as he strayed towards the front where Rowan had been earlier. Rowan walked over towards Susanna, noticing that Baelavain was eyeing him curiously. “Your hair looks…nice.” He spoke, unsure of what to say. It did complement her well, however, it was not something he would have expected on her. It was of elvish design. He had seen similarly designed braids on high ranking elven women.
((Break time is next FYI.))

Monica nearly leapt out of her skin when she heard the hiss behind her, whiling around at a break neck speed and shooting Michael a wide eyed look that calmed when she realized it was him. Pink flooded her cheeks that now she knew he had a fear of something, since she was trying to be tough for them in all this. However if it did ever come to being her and a snake stuck in a fight, the snake would probably win after she passed out. She hated them, completely and totally. His words about something being worse than a snake in this forest made her brows furrow at him. "You're not funny." She muttered before he moved between her and her sister, embracing their necks like an old friend passing along advice. The pair looked at each other, before eyeing him with some curiosity and suspicion. At news of flying snakes, Monica looked a bit pale and the latter about weird things eating people had Sophine a bit green. She had to admit, even if the nymph was full of it, Sophine recognized he could spin a convincing story. When Rowan pulled him off for a scolding, Sophine smirked and Monica stuck her tongue out at Layfon for getting scolded. She knew it was childish, but served him right for trying to scare her. Now he was going to have to pay later if he gave her nightmares about flying snakes.... "Screw that. I'll take on a fairy any day over a flying snake." Monica joked to Sophine who giggled a bit, knowing her sister would probably die of a heart attack if snakes sprouted wings. However, the thought of the fairy brought up a bad memory for Sophine, of Briony and that creepy, scary fairy that tried to kill them. Honestly, she wasn't sure how to interpret how wrong the fairytales were. She didn't know how they were going to learn to even take those freaks on, let alone survive longer than a second before they were obliterated. Sophie just prayed that she would be ready enough when the time came to face it again...
