Susanna had been enjoying making Monica squirm under the comments of snakes but just laughed when Rowan caught him and smiled knowing this was as close as the little dysfunctional family was going to be at the time back int heir own little world. Her attention was in front of her towards the terrain, however feeling some one close to her drew her attention, looking up to find Rowan, who was looking her over. At his words, sounding a little unsure she gave a smirk at him. "I guess, I've never been one for braids but it keeps it off my neck I'm fine with it. A little startling to have it braided as well." She said a bit more quietly at the end to Rowan. She obviously hadn't expected some one to touch her- much less Baelavain of all elves in their little party.

“Hnnn.” Rowan replied to Susanna, the sound giving way that he was displeased rather than intrigued. “I am going to have to keep a closer eye on him.” He muttered before leaning down and giving her a peck on the cheek. His eyes were on Baelavain as he did this, the high elf watching from the corner of his eye. If anything, the fact that he was looking made Rowan even more concerned. Rowan told Susanna that they could talk more when they stopped for the evening and then continued back towards the front, unfolding his map part way to double check where they were. A few hours later they decided it would be a good time to rest. Layfon had spent most of his time with the two sisters, spouting off tales of incredible beasts, most of which were not completely true. He would have been great at telling campfire ghost stories. He did reassure them that he was kidding about most of the monsters he spoke of, though he had snuck in a few to see their reaction, including chupacabras, werecats, and worst of all—gnomes. They were farther from the water this time, a tree with weeping limbs the size of a grown man’s torso proved to be their shelter in the way a living cave might. They set up camp, Baelavain and Layfon going off in search of fire wood. A pile was made but Rowan did not light it yet. He was too busy divvying out food to everyone, making sure that they were getting enough to eat. It wasn’t until everyone was settled and the sun was low enough in the sky to cast long, dark shadows in the forest that Rowan lit the fire and it was beautiful. The green and gold leaves of the tree glittered reflections of the light as though millions upon millions of fireflies were what made up the tree. The branches hanging over fire gently moves, allowing the smoke an easy escape hatch while keeping the flammable tree away from the heat. The warmth of the fire grew in the area, making it comfortable while the breeze from outside nuzzled through the branches and trees to provide a cool refreshment. Rowan was sitting close to the fire, his eyes pools of red, reflecting the flames to perfection as he munched on a piece of tough bread. Baelavain was lying on his back with his eyes closed and hands behind his head, still managing to look preoccupied in thought instead of the carefree attitude he was attempting to convey with his positioning. Layfon was standing with his back up against the trunk of the tree, ducking some because his head was a bit taller than the branch he was under. He looked at Monica before frowning slightly and pushing off from the tree. He excused himself from their small enclosed space and stepped out, the air feeling cooler compared to the warmth inside of their tree cocoon. He heard the water calling to him and thought about heading in that direction but he shook his head and walked farther away from the calling of his nature. He was within sights of the faintly glowing weeping tree, but he wasn’t sure he really wanted to be bothered.

When they stopped, Sophine and Monica enjoyed the talk about creatures, despite some of it being a bit scary. They always enjoyed fairytales and things when they were little and Sophine was a big fantasy reader. It was crazy to hear stories that a mythical creature could come up with since the very thought of that was a bit funny. He was kind enough to fill them in on the extraneous tales this time, making the girls giggle at some of the stories, such as the gnomes. Monica found the idea hilarious that the little men in hats her mother had statues of in her front yard could ever be threatening. When stories were traded for food, the sisters let themselves wander to their respective place around the fire. Sophine watched the leaves rustle and glow in the fire light, the massive tree that they found shelter under was a estimate of the true nature of this land. It was untamed and naturally beautiful, to the point her world could never hope to recreate its likeness. She was reminded of Briony's garden back in the city briefly and she considered it a pretty sight as well, but still nothing compared to this. She yawned mid-stretch, the opening of her mouth allowing her to catch a whiff of what she smelled like. And honestly, it wasn't pretty at all...She winced at the smell of sweat and dirt, making a sour face since she knew very well that she would have to bathe. The sweat in her clothes was uncomfortable and her body felt sticky and worn. The problem was there were no baths, only a river that was far from camp. It was a distance she wasn't sure she wanted from protection, especially not in the late afternoon, nearing night. But...did she really want to feel like this? She looked over at the others, noticing Monica was looking a bit forlorn, seemingly contemplating following after her boyfriend. Susanna was with Rowan and she hardly wanted to pull her away... 'Come on Sophine...You're not a damsel.' She thought, her resolve pushing against her uncertainty. After finishing the last of her bread, she looked to Monica, who was watching Layfon walk off. She bit her lip, looking conflicted, something Sophine honestly didn't see much of in her sister, ever. "You know I'm sure he wouldn't mind company..." She hinted, making Monica's attention pull away and go to her sister. "Yeah I know, but I don't really know what to say." Monica admitted almost sheepishly and wanted to kick herself for it. She was never one to get tongue tied, but she find it difficult in this situation with Layfon. She felt that when she knew some about him, there were things she was majorly in the dark about. She would have to talk to him sooner or later, why not now to just make sure he was doing alright? Sophie saw her expression ease and realized that Monica was going to probably talk with him, making Sophine smile. "Alright, go get him. By the way I'll be rinsing off in the lake if you need me. Susanna if I'm not back in a while, I'm going to need some saving." Sophine joked as she collected her things and headed over to where she had remembered seeing something of water. ~~~~ Monica considered what her sister suggested a moment. She didn't want to bother Layfon if he wanted to be alone, but there was just something about his demeanor that was making her think that something was really up. She knew she should be patient and let him deal with things in his own way, but patience was never one of Monica's strengths. She needed some kind of communication, mostly because unlike normal circumstances in any relationship, they were caught in a very not normal. Like they jumped way way out of that box a while back...meaning that there was no real guide for her on how to handle things. So she would have to make her own through trail and error. She got to her feet, heading over to where she saw Layfon walking. She went beside him, her stance a bit more proud despite the ache in her legs reminding her that she was tired from the trudging march today. "You're out kinda far, not afraid of gnomes or chupacabra?" She asked playfully before her look eased some with a soft curiosity. He looked rather eye-catching in the light of the odd glowing tree. Something about him honestly was enchanting, wether that be the feelings she already had for him or something maybe he just put off. Whatever it was, it was hard for it not to affect her a bit. She swallowed an almost awkward smile similar to her sister's coming to her lips. "I'm getting a bit of a vibe you might want to be alone, but," She began, her attention still on his face to gauge his reaction to her words, "I just wanted to ask if everything was okay? You seem a bit distracted lately..." She said, avoiding terms like "off" or "distant" since she wasn't sure exactly how different he was acting from his normal. He wasn't having to conform to an image anymore, so she wanted to learn more about who he really was. ~~~ Sophine stared at the small lake that looked an almost inky black in the river. The moonlight lit the clearing and seemed to gather in the plant life, making it glow faintly. She sensed it was safe, after throwing a few rocks in to see if she disturbed anything menacing. She didn't understand how these humans could live like this, without running water or electricity. Certainly with all that magic and species lasting over hundreds of years they could have figured out some way to install at least a functioning toilet. Sophine rolled her eyes at her little rant, knowing she sounded like a prima donna. The city girl within her wanted a hot shower, not a dip in the cold river. She looked around her once and then twice over to make sure she was alone before she went about taking off her shirt, leaving only her white bra in place. She had to get clean and why not start with her upper body. As the shirt came off, she felt it catch a raised mark on her skin from where Rulinju had bit her. It ached a little still and had a nice bruise forming from where he had gripped her side while using her for food...She forced herself to ignore the mark, since the sick feeling churning her stomach was threatening to give her a panic attack which wouldn't be productive... It was a simpler process, even if she felt her clothes smelt from sweat and travel. She had a change of clothes here with her, but she still had to figure how to wash these. Giving in to her exhaustion with thinking, she eased into the surprisingly cool but not freezing water. She was pleasantly surprised to find the rocky bottom clear of most plant life, though she didn't go deeper than where she could kneel properly. She drew in a breath and splashed her face with cold water. Sophine gasped at how cold the water was, smiling in sardonic humor at the sheer knowledge that she was bathing in a lake when only weeks ago she was back home working on an article for the Hayes...but the Hayes weren't the Hayes... They were creatures of another world, struggling to find their place again. She should have expected the resistance group would have a problem with their story, that things would be harder than just showing up and having people welcome them back. Not to mention...she should have known Briony wouldn't have been the same. Her face fell as did her heart that felt like an icy lump in her chest. Feeling suddenly a bit uncomfortable, she worked off her shorts under the water, tossing them to shore and settling for just being down to her underwear. Her eyes intent on the forest beyond as she brought her knees under her chin, her colder skin contact with her legs felt less comforting than she expected. Briny being different was one thing, but completely cold and detached was something completely different. Back there in that field, it was like he was a new person, no trace of the warmth she felt was in him when he got to see the glimpses of his real smiles. Their interviews were interesting conversations, the few glimpses she got of some side to him other than business. He had a spark of life in him when he was around nature, even though he was so careful and formal around people. Even when he played the piano there was a deeper more soulful quality to him. But then again, that was Oliver she got to know briefly, not Briony.... How was he able to control the emotions so well that he could lie so easily to her... In all honesty, she would have never guessed he would have returned her feelings when they ended up in that fountain. The memory made her blush slightly, her finger tips touching her lips lightly as if unsure if that had been real or she had imagined it. No, it was very real. So real it stung when she remembered the next part of how this craziness began. When he changed, she was afraid of him, scared for him, scared for herself, and so very confused...it was hard to even pin point exactly what she was feeling at that moment since it was all such a flood of sadness, shock, confusion, anger and...care. She cared when he disappeared and left only that torn shoe. She cared that night she was in his room that the smell of his sheets called up a memory of him being close and kissing her inside that fountain. She cared that she learned so little about the man even with all the talking they did about his elaborate lie of a past. She cared that he made her feel something for him, enough of a something to leap into a portal to another world after him. And what did all that care mean? Nothing in this situation...she couldn't act on whatever those feelings were. She couldn't act like this was at all normal. And she probably wouldn't see him again, not unless it was when the faeries finally caught up to them. And besides, what was there to say? Could she say anything about what he told her, the kiss, what she thought was getting closer to him? Was that all just a ruse to trick her? Was it all just another way he tried to protect his secret and his brothers? Really, what better way to fool the nosey reporter than to make her think that she was the least bit desirable in someone's eyes. She breathed out, shying away from the thought as her hand flew to her side on her skin. She remembered it like the vivid burn in her memory of how it felt to have Rulinju bite her. Her body lost all control and her strength had left her for a need that was almost crippling. It was raw desire that she had never felt before, especially not against her will. It scared her so badly that someone could do that to her that she felt sad to think Briony might have toyed with some emotion inside her like that. Not to Rulinju's extreme, but enough to make her eyes of misty. But was Briony that kind of man? Sophine paused, considering it very briefly before she shook her head vigorously. No, Briony was not a man that would use her. First of all, he was to smart to see any value in that. Her use was bare minimum as a lowly reporter that held no real influence over him. Second, that didn't seem like him as a person. He may have been excellent at lying, but that came with necessity and practice. No telling what this man endured with this queen for so long. The scar on him the day they saw him proved his place was less than right hand as everyone assumed. Sophine tried to see the same man she met in her world in the Briony she saw days ago. Past the obvious physical differences, there was an emotion missing that seemed to come from those pretty green eyes. She had sensed emotion just below the skin. Somewhere in him was the light hearted laugh he gave after the fall into the fountain, his rather interesting thoughts voiced by words so eloquent and smooth, and his attention to everything and care for the people he was close to. The Briony she saw on the lake shore had been like staring at a shell of a man. Something and been very wrong, to the point it almost seemed he wasn't even the same person. She puffed out a breath and moved back, standing to grab her clothes so that she could wash them off. She hummed a little tune as she pulled them into the water, bending to get them wet and to scrub. She knew the display was hardly decent, but she assumed the men knew she was bathing from her announcement and would stay away....

She understood that they would talk later, however the kiss was appreciated. She hadn't had actually contact with him in a while and she was wanting it but knew it wasn't appropriate at this time. Stopping after a few more hours of walking, she sat down an rubbed her knees, tender that they were from all this walking on uneven terrain. Sitting there by the fire eventually that Rowan had lite, she sat fairly close to Rowan, though not touching him. When Sophine announced she was going to bath she gave her a smirk knowing her well enough. After a few minutes however she sighed, getting up herself. "I'm going to the river as well, to make sure she didn't get lost. Be back soon." She said with a smile, though a tired one to Rowan, grabbing a change of Clothes from her bag. Heading off in the direction Sophine had gone she found her washing her clothes but to be nice she called out ahead to her, not yelling but loud enough for her to know it was her and not a guy. Reaching the clearing she striped down and got into the water giving a light shiver as she jumped in, just wanting to get it over with. Rubbing some sand form the bottom on her skin to scrub a bit better she glanced over at Sophine. "So, Today was weird- also wanna help me get this tangle out of my hair? Tall, dark, and creeper make it a total knot." She asked her best friend if she could help her get the braid out. It was a bit frayed but it was honestly a mess, it was pretty earlier that day but traveling made some hair loose in some places but not all.

Layfon heard Monica come up behind him. She wasn't the most silent walking in the woods, but he could hardly expect her to be as surefooted and stealthy as he was. He glanced her way when she stood next to him, her presence comforting in a sense. He appreciated her being here, though he knew he wasn't ready to answer fully to the questions Layfon was sure she had. Instead, he chuckled lightly at her teasing of him. He would not be standing so calmly if there was a gnome about but the fact that she recalled his stories from earlier was nice. His gaze turned fully onto the pretty human girl as her worry for him became apparent and he felt a tight squeeze in his chest in realization that he was so very happy to have her with him. She really did care about him, of that he was sure. However, he wondered how long that would last when she found out his true nature, his true past. He could not keep it all from her forever, but tonight was not the night to indulge or possibly push away this woman for whom he held such affection. Layfon reached over and wrapped his arm about her waist, pulling her closer to him and taking a breath of her scent as it puffed into his senses. He was silent for a moment, formulating a response that would satisfy her but he knew he was not ready to give away all that was on his mind. He could not without giving away everything. “I'm sorry, Monica.” He began and looked down at her with a smile. “It wasn't my intention to make you worry. I just have a lot on my mind is all. Coming back to this world has made me remember quite a few things that I had chosen to forget during my time in your realm.” He was being vague as he spoke and he knew it would probably only lead to more questions. He needed to give her something substantial enough that it would hold her over for a time being. He decided that a half truth was the best for now. “I've been thinking a lot about my family lately and how our relationship will fit together with this world. There's a lot you don't know and I promise I will explain more about myself, but that will take time. For you to understand me, you need to understand more about my world.” He brushed his lips against her forehead as he finished, hoping she would understand but knowing Monica, she would have a question or two more for him this night. He wouldn't be let off the hook that easily and he was fine with that. As long as she knew not to push him for everything at once, he would not lie to her unless he absolutely had to.

Sophine tensed when she heard a voice call out to her, but relaxed when she realized it was Susanna. She turned to her with a smile, offering her nod when she asked her to help with the braid. Sophie blinked at the intricate braid and her brows furrowed a bit when Suzana said it came from tall, dark and creeper. "You mean Baelevain? I think he's just trying to be social honestly...after working for that pack of craziness you can only imagine he's a bit odd..." She said, stating only part of her thoughts. Most of her was revolted by the thought of it all, especially the nastier bits that almost led to her being lunch for that leader of theirs. How anyone could follow that awful man was beyond her...but she figured this place had a history of following the lesser of two evils. After all, this queen of the fey woman didn't sound all that wonderful. Sophine swallowed hard, her fingers fumbling a bit as her hand began to shake while undoing the braid. To hide her mistakes, she started up conversation, mostly because she trusted Susanna more than anyone here. "So...just how bad did we mess up by coming here?" She asked, mostly a rhetorical question though she knew Susanna didn't feel the same way. She cleared her throat deciding she should continue or at least explain what she was getting at. "This place is a lot more dangerous than I figured...and all this travel and these odd people and things. Isn't it all a bit much to you too?" She asked, feeling a bit overwhelmed by all of it, though she couldn't exactly word it to Susanna even. ~~~ Monica hadn't expected him to pull her close, not that she minded the arm around her waist or the fact that she was close to him. She found it comforting if anything, more of a sign to her inner thoughts that she wasn't the problem here. Not that she had entertained that thought long, but it was hard not to wonder that when the person you cared about became awfully closed off. His apology wasn't needed, but she didn't argue with him since she felt it was better to let him finish. Her eyes searched his face as he spoke, since he was only giving her the bare minimum. It was more than she had earlier, but still, she wanted to know why he now felt like he couldn't talk with her about this. She felt she had been honest enough with him, but then again her life was very different compared to him. What dark little skeletons could be in his closet that he just wasn't comfortable sharing? She was sure he knew that she wasn't the type to try and judge him, but then again that was something not worth a whole lot to say when she didn't know the whole story. He told her a bit on what was bothering him, things about his family and then her and how they would fit. She was a bit concerned about the family bit, but she felt by the way he told her she needed to understand more and in time he would tell her, that she wouldn't get much out of him tonight. She accepted the kiss to her forehead, though she did look to be in thought for a long moment. "Okay...Just, please know that I don't mind listening if you do want to talk alright?" She said, since she wasn't sure if he thought she could handle it. It seemed by the way he was wording things that this was something big to him and that it might upset her if he was unwilling to tell her without her understanding more about the way things worked. She figured she would give him that time, since it was true. She was a novice at all this and couldn't really gauge how she would react since it was all very new. She looked out at the forest a moment, her mind traveling abckto the conversations they had had with the rebels and then being thrown out like that to wander around on their own with a crazy fairy group after them. "I want to understand a bit better. But it all seems to be..a lot you know? After talking with those people back there, is this place really that dangerous? The way that pale guy talked at dinner and the way those elves treated you...it made it sound like none of the people here really got along very well in the first place, not until the fairy queen started problems I guess.." She said her face scrunching some in confusion since she wasn't too sure she even had that history right.

Susanna snickered at her friends comment about working with a bunch of crazies. "Good point. However words work just as well." She commented back as she let Sophine help her get the intricate braid from her hair. She was calm and letting the sand from the bottom squish between her toes, it was similar to a foot massage and she was loving it. The question made her pause, her eyes opening from her relaxed place she had been in there in the water. Being quiet a short moment she put her words together in her mind a bit better since it was better then just blurting out things. "Regardless of how bad we messed up with coming here, I want to be here for them. Its a lot to take in, I can understand- trust me. I see this kinda mess in my video games ya know? I never expected to be a part of one. its almost too realistic- I'm not too sure..." She let her thoughts quiet not wanting to scare Sophine with her thoughts. "I don't want to see them- any of them get hurt. The best we can do is do our best to improve ourselves and survive to reach our goal." She summarized finally opting to have more positive thoughts as she turned a bit, her hair not in a mess much more- not more then the water wouldn't' help get out. She leaned back in the water and got it wet, running her hands through it more to get the rest more clean- finding she had leaves and a stick- small however it was still in her hair. A small frown on her sharp features she scrubbed her face, adding some sand to help a bit.
((wanted to share this one, it seemed to fit the thread.))

Layfon stared down at Monica as she spoke and his face softened some. She was a sweet girl and she meant more to him than she knew. She had traded her world for his. That meant she scarified her normal life to be with him. That in and of itself was something that had grounded him to her for the rest of eternity and he doubted that she knew how much any of it meant. “Heaven's above, you're amazing.” He murmured into her hair as she spoke of wanting to understand. He nuzzled her hair and took in her scent. He didn't care about the dirt and the sweat from a long days travel because he could smell the sweetness that was her and it was calming. He smiled as she spoke and a low chuckle emanated from him. He pulled his face from her head and looked down at her, the dim lighting not seeming to be able to hide the blue of his eyes. In fact his skin almost seemed to reflect the lighting with how pale his skin was, the blue markings about him reflecting even more. “There have always been prejudices, even before the Fairy Queen took control. My kind, however, were not hated as much as it seems they are now. Much has changed in such a short time but the Queen has caused the cracks and dislikes among our many species to become hatred. It will take much time to fix what has been broken and still even more to garner a truly peaceful cohabitation between all species.” Layfon spoke his mind honestly, his words less childish than he had often allowed them to be while back in Monica's realm. He realized this those and smiled broadly. He didn't want her to realized quite how regal he truly was, yet. “Though, it could be possible that those elves were just jealous of my amazing charm and fabulous good looks.” He gave her waist a squeeze, trying to bring back some of the playfulness he knew she was accustomed to. ~~~ While Susanna and Sophine were bathing in the cool waters. An unknown set of eyes was watching from afar. Their green hues faded as the figure swept back into the darkness of the bushes and trees and in his place, a soft white light formed. A popping sound that echoed across the waters followed and more lights began flickering on and off, one hovering on the shoreline, it's shimmering body pulsating with oranges and reds. It flickered out and reappeared a few feet down the shoreline, others like it off behind it in twos or threes. The soft sound of a child's giggle could be heard, as though challenging the girls to see what was going on. However, it seemed their focus was on Susanna as the color palette continued to be that of a pastel fire. “Catch me if you can, silly girl.” Echoed an eerie childlike voice, a plea for a game of tag long overdue.

Monica felt him nuzzle her head, his words making her blush actually since she was sure she smelled of forest and sweat. She also had never heard someone call her amazing and sound like they really meant it, especially outside of bedroom or bar. She smiled to herself feeling a warmth in her chest. She really did care for Layfon, more so than she had someone she had been dating for weeks. This was new for her, especially this idea of changing for someone else. She had always been very set and independent. Now she had given up her home, her life in the city, and her college life for a guy she was just now...well it should be considered dating and interested in at this point. He had already saved her life and protected her here. Not to mention he was so handsome, it was almost mesmerizing. His blue eyes drew her in as he spoke and she felt like she could just melt in his arms and listen to anything he had to say. She knew it was partly because of him being a nymph, but a large part of it was how she felt about him. She nodded when he spoke of his kind and relations between species here to show she was listening and understood. She wished that wasn't the case, especially since she felt she couldn't stay quiet longer if someone messed with him again. She wasn't one to put up with someone being openly rude to people. But for him she noticed he had a more Noble air about him that hinted he was a bit more manner trained than he liked to let on. Her father was a general, she knew what class looked like since she had to play that part often. He wouldn't be too happy with having a loud mouthed woman at his side in situations that needed tact. When he made the joke, she grinned, especially since it was very true. "I think I like that idea. They were just trying too hard not to swoon when they saw you." She said with a wink though the idea of elven soldiers falling over themselves over Layfon was a funny thought. "I have to. You say I'm amazing, but all kidding aside I really think you're stunning, not just in the physical I mean." She really did admire his level headedness, his poise, and strength in all this. It made her want to know more about him, to see what else she could discovery despite his mystery. "Even if this place is a lot to take in now, I'm happy I have you here, you know.." She said, wanting to be sure he did understand that his charm and looks weren't all he was to her. ~~~~ Sophine listened to what Susanna had to say and felt her words were right. It was true, no matter if it was a bad decision, they were there and they had to adapt to survive...but, being there did help to the boys. Well, she hoped at least...Susanna was braver than her by far and seemed to fit more in this place than she did. Monica was determined enough to learn to fit in here. Rowan and Layfon were probably worried, but happy to have them here. Sophine was the odd woman out in this equation. Not because those around her didn't care or she didn't care about them, but because she wasn't sure what her motivation really was. Her sister didn't ever look for protection, Suzanna was strong, and the boys had their magic and tactical training. She was just being a hindrance, what with a bracelet belonging to the queen latched onto her arm and her naivety leading her to being fed from by that leech...Briony had suffered so much there that he didn't even recognize his 'brothers'. He didn't even acknowledge her. Why would he? He had only kissed her as Oliver and even then it was at a time when she knew so little about him. And now, he was working with the Fey Queen. He was abused, physically and mentally...and there was nothing she could do to help or stop that. It hurt to know someone you cared for, regardless of lies and half truths, was being harmed. Regardless of his new appearance, there was a part of her that wanted to see him, to help. She bit her lip, her eyes darting down to the water where she could see her reflection. She saw a drenched, half naked woman with bruising bite marks on her side and a look in her eyes that spelled unease. She couldn't look at it anymore and so she got up, giving Susanna a soft smile. "Thank you...I needed that. I think I'm going to head back. Be safe and call if you need me." She got to her feet, getting dressed into what she brought, though it wasn't much. Her green t-shirt clung to her rather suggestively, riding up in places when water stuck it to her skin. The spandex shorts she wore were there for comfort, since the humidity at the moment in this forest was quite uncomfortable. She gave Susanna a wave and went back into the forest, trying to walk along the path that she remembered. She was content in the quiet till she heard a group of childlike voices near the lake. At first she was confused, then She instantly thought of Susanna and her eyes widened. "Susanna!" She called back, hurrying back to the lake. She couldn't leave her friend alone, for all she knew that was the faeries coming to take her. However, somehow in her hurrying she got turned around, enough so that she had to stop and look around for directions. Her eyes flicked on all directions, trying but failing to recognize where she was. It was traumatic to say the least, enough so that every rustle of leaves and every snap of a twig made her tense. "S-Susanna?" She called out, wanting to see if it was maybe her out there in the dark forest.

Susanna let her leave since she figured her friend was tired. She was fine however as she relaxed in the water, her eyes closed a color caught her attention. Opening her eyes she saw a light and heard the giggling, making her frown. 'None human giggling- great.' She thought to herself as she got out of the water and dressed. After a moment the lights came back and a voice taunted her making her frown. "Really?" She said in an almost sarcastic way however she went a little further down stream to see if it was close after all. She was naturally curious so she couldn't help herself, just a little bit of looking then she would head back.

Layfon smiled some at Monica's words. She was a sweet girl and he was rather pleased that she got his sense of humor. He sighed some and didn't really reply to her words, the moment made it feel like he didn't really need to so why through thoughts out in the open when it could be much more simply expressed. He leaned down and pressed his lips up against hers with a gentle passion that made him crave more from her but this wasn't quite the time, not unless she designated it so. His hand found the way to the nape of her neck and he pulled away, brushing a few stray hairs out of her eyes. “I like you. You're pretty cute for a human. I think I might keep you.” His eyes were sparkling with slight amusement but his smile and features were soft with an obvious air that he cared deeply about who he was looking at. ~~~ The giggling continued, permeating the area surrounding Susanna and echoing off of the water. More lights flashed off to her right and then to her left, bright oranges and reds glittering and pulsating. The child like sound of amusement was misplaced in such a dark night, it's reverberations giving it a sense ghostliness. “Silly human girl. Silly little dear.” It sang in a disjointed melody. A pop of fiery light flashed right in front of Susanna, the afterglow of two green eyes momentarily hovered before vanishing as another spiral of flames appeared a little ways into the bushes to Susanna's left. “So lost you are...Come, I can help you find where you belong...” ~~~ A pretty girl wandering around at night in a strange forest was not the best situation. Green eyes followed her as she walked, taking in her form and the way that her wet clothes clung to her body, revealing more than she probably wanted to have a male see. A shiver passed through his body as he watched her uneasy features turn into worry for her companion. He wondered what expression she would hold when she saw him. Probably disgust, though he didn't have enough time to dwell on such thoughts. He followed her through the wooded landscape, shadows and darkness hiding him like an old friend. She was desperately lost by the time she stopped and a pinch of worry wrapped in a cold amusement flickered through his chest. She called for her friend and he couldn't help but take a step forward in a desire to comfort her, yet he knew she would not accept such an act. Not from him. The leaves of the bush he was behind rustled with his movement. An owl called out in the distance and he knew that it was now or never. He knew she would be angry, that she would find him revolting but this might be his only chance. He had to take it. Quickly and with near silent movement, his hooves took him behind the girl and he wrapped his arms around her, pulling her close to his body and covering her mouth with his hand. It would do no good for an elf to hear her scream. “Shhhh, Sophine. It's me—it's Brio—liver.” He tried to sound calming with his stuttering tone and mashup of names but he came out sounding slightly urgent. His grip on her body was firm but gently and he couldn't help but realize how little there was between them, her thin clothing pressed directly against his skin and fur. His back was knotted in anticipation as to how she was going to react. It was likely the human girl's reaction would be a favorable one. After all, the last time she had seem him, he had tried to harm them...

Monica watched Layfon a moment as he smiled, a smile of her own pulling at her lips. So she got him to smile for her, a genuine one hopefully...She was about to comment, her lips opening slightly to give a response when suddenly he kissed her. The passion behind the kiss made her lose her train of thought, falling back into just thinking of him and how her heart beat quickened in her chest. It was strange for her to feel like this whole thing was new to her, almost like she had never been kissed before or felt the touch of a lover before. But there was something unique to him that made her body react differently with a charged energy that she didn't quite know how to place. She really did care for him especially in light of all that had happened. He was enough to make her knees feel week and the breath to be stolen from her lungs, such that she was forced to catch her breath when he pulled away to say something cute to her. She gave him a bit of a giggle at him telling her he would 'keep' her. She saw the feelings in his eyes, ones that made a warmth rise to her chest that swelled with a happiness. "Only think?" She leaned in again, kissing him once more to sate her own feelings before pulling away to give him a rather flirtatious smile. "Any way I could convince you?" She said, being a tease in the way she said convince, since she felt like there couldn't be harm in asking a playful question. ~~~ Sophine felt a shiver roll up her spine at the sound of the forest reacting to movement, her eyes quickly darting to the darkness as she shook like a leaf. She was not okay with being alone out there, not after all that had happened and how scared she was of this world. So far it had been beautiful and dangerous, a balance that she felt she teetered the further she went. Susanna's words came to mind and she felt only slight comfort in them. She wasn't made for this world, she was too weak, too gullible, too...She felt something in her growing taut from strain, a part of her that made the thoughts silence and her body stop trembling. She had to get ahold of herself. Susanna needed her now and the others would need her later. Briony would need them, maybe never her, but the others. But she shouldn't even try to think of such things...what did it matter when he hated them? She let a shaky sigh pull through her and she tried continue forward, struggling to get her feet to move forward on her new path. However, before she could get a real step in, a grip went round her that made her body lock up and her mouth fall open to let loose a scream. Instead a hand clamped over her mouth, causing her to thrash and lash out in an effort to get away. She was not going down without a fight to whatever this was. That was damn sure. She tried to find purchase on anything, kicking her legs and struggling to get away with a blind fear that made her uncoordinated, lucky for whoever it was at the moment. Whoever it was had a strong grip, strong enough that she was pressed firmly against them enough to feel with her back a few details. They were built like a man, but was that fur her bare feet brushed? She couldn't get a read on that, not even enough to really make a judgement call on who or what this was. Instead, it was the voice that made her pause, her body growing still as if he threw ice water on her. She couldn't believe it, not at first, but the longer she stayed in the hold silently, the more it began to make sense. The words, the softer tone, the fact that he called himself Oliver in a rather odd way. It was him...but why? Her mind had a brief freak out as if wondering if he was there to harm them, but a part of her logic told her why would he be holding her that close and speaking to her so softly if he wanted to harm her. She eased some, mostly out of shock and confusion, her head leaning back some to try and catch a glimpse of him. Instead she found only a brief glimpse of part of his face, but not enough to confirm things for her. "Briony?" She tried to ask but with his hand in the way it came out as disjointed noises that were hardly intelligible, only placed as a question by her tone. She noticed then just how close they were, the fact that her mind had been assessing him in her time held hostage. Had he built more muscle? She turned a bit pink at the route her mind took, but it was hard not to when she associated him so closely with Oliver...Once he actually confessed some form of feelings for her, not that it would be the same now even though for her it had only been days and for him years....She gave a weak little huff, wanting to look at him and talk to him, to at least clear her conscious of the last time she saw him being him trying to hurt them...that couldn't have been him...right? Maybe the faeries did something to him? She knew from experience now that magic could do things to your mind here. After all Rulinju was able to lure her into his bed without much protest and even bite her. She felt his grip squeeze a bit tighter on her to where her arm pressed into the deep tissue bruising bite mark on her side. It made her wince and draw air in through her nose from the sharp pain. Instead of relief, the breath brought in a familiar scent, one that she had faintly smelled on him when she had crawled into his bed while drunk. Now that foresty, fresh earth smell was stronger, calming her nerves substantially despite the fact she was unsure what would happen to her at the moment...

Susanna shook her head at the voice, however paused when some flame had a pair of eyes- meaning it was a person not a thing. She turned and headed back a bit however wasn't totally sure where she had gotten to- making her frown. Glancing around Sophine wasn't to be seen either making her think she had already headed back and this was her own mistake. "Damn it all." She muttered before heading back a bit further till she actually found the water hole they had been at and that made her feel a bit better- however she still had to go back- meaning more walking in the dark woods- to avoid the fire person who was thinking she was stupid. That thought made her frown since she had originally went willingly now she was a little lost but nothing she couldn't handle.

Layfon's smile turned coy as Monica teased him, enjoying her kisses as a pleasant distraction from the heaviness of their current situation. He chuckled softly, the sound almost dark for him as he wrapped his arms around her waist, one hand playing with the small of her back. "I really don't think you'll have much trouble." He replied almost cryptically, though a few of his fingers had strayed past her pant's waistband. They just hovered there, moving in slow circles as he deepened the kiss some. He pulled away, pressing his forehead against hers, their noses barely touching. "You only have to ask and I will give my all to give you what you request." He murmered, voice low. ~~~ The firey being flared up again by the water shore, its color seeming angrier than before. "Human's never listen...Stupid girl, follow and you will be shown safely home." the fire spirled again to Susanna's left. "A third offer will not be made." The child-like voice was highpitch and dangerou sounding now, as though Susanna not following it had made it irritated. ~~~ Briony had expected Sophine to put up a fight. He held her to the best of her abilities, but it was clear she thought she as in much danger. Still, she seemed to freeze up when he told her who he was and it surprised him with how tense and fragile her voice was upon speakin. It was almost funny, he dared almost think that there was no inkling of hatred in her tone. He nodded his head and began to move his hand from her mouth when he felt her wince and heard a sharp intake of breath as his arm brushed her side. "Yes, it's m--" He began to say but frowned and spun her around, his hands firm on her arms before one moved down and pulled her shirt up slightly to reveal her side where a bruised and slowly healing bite mark was present. Rage threatened to consume him. He looked like the Briony she had known before, however, his black hair was wild and long, eyes so green that they nearly glowed in the dim lighting of the forest night. His legs, those of a goat, were black and furry, a dark brown leather loin cloth and belt wrapped around his waist. His torso was bare but for two crossing leather straps buckled in place. There was a dark bruise on the right side of his chest and shoulder and scars littering his body, some new and some old and fading. His horns were short and spiraled, it seemed he kept them shaved close rather than let them grow out. Briony's eyes revealed his confusion and anger, his grip on Sophine's arm probably tighter than he intended. He looked up to her, brow furrowed as he stood and pressed her forward until her back was up against a tree and she was forced to look up at him. "Who did this to you?" He demanded, his irritation obvious, though he knew he really did not deserve to feel anything towards her.

Monica smirked when he pulled his arms around her, his coy smile and his hands on her waist and back pulling her attention from his darker laugh. She enjoyed the noise, something different from him that made her heart leap a little at his words. So was that a challenge or invitation? When he kissed her again, she stepped closer, shamelessly keeping their close proximity to feel him there in the rather chilly night air. She felt a spark catching fire in her that she wanted him to soothe, which the touch just at her waist was already distracting. She let the kiss deepen, her eyes shutting in an effort to control herself from just taking him to the ground with her. Her arms had already found their way around his neck, one hand finding his hair. She liked how the silky strands felt in her fingers, though her touch was light, just there to keep him close and not harm. When he pulled away, her lips chased his a breath before she opened her eyes, finding his intense blue ones stared back at her in the night and looked almost mesmerizing in the moonlight. If anyone ever saw her now, most would be shocked any man got Monica into the woods and wanting anything to do with romance while not being afraid of bugs or dirt. Though she wasn't a complete girly girl, forests weren't her jam and nature was something very new to her. That being said, she wasn't all that opposed to letting him have more if he wanted it that night. He was always so careful with what he said and cryptic with his words. He even asked her what she wanted with foreheads pressed and noses brushing the only contact her face currency had with his. She gave him a coy smile of her own allowing one of her arms to slip way, the hand touching his cheek. "Those are dangerous words when I've got you alone in the woods." She said though a bit of pink did creep into her cheeks as she thought of one thing she might say, but was unsure exactly what he wanted. One minute he barely touched her, the next they had moments like these where they were free to kiss and be close. She knew she didn't want to throw herself into something too quickly, but Layfon was something different to her. And it wasn't just the nymph charm either. She really just wanted everything about him. His smile, his voice, his mind, his affection, his lips, his hands...that was all she allowed herself to delve into, knowing there was more but that meant being a bit unfair to herself and him at the moment. "You know I'd ask for you every time, right?" She said since she was sure he had to know what he did to her and how she felt about him. He fed off emotions and people's energy right? That meant he was better than her at playing any games like this, making her look like an amateur at best. Not that she cared. She loved his words and felt happy that he would do things for her the way she wanted to be able to do them for him. She realized early on in this little trip that she wanted to have his back in this, to not be just a wilting flower on the sidelines. She was earnest in wanting to be a help...and of course take up as much of his time and attention as she could... ~~~ When Sophine felt him nod in response to his name, her heart fluttered a bit, but she hid it down by releasing a relieved sigh. However it was short lived when it seemed her pain at her side being messed with stirred his attention. In a rather quick show of force and dexterity, he had her effortlessly turned around, even past the stiff fear that took over her. She stared wide eyed at him and her face was pale when he stared down at her with her arms pinned like she would do something. How could she do anything at this moment? Her mind was overloaded in trying to take it all in at once, everything from his appearance to her horror at him ever finding out about what happened to her. The only people that knew were Iliana and Rulinju. She hadn't even told Susanna, since the fear of the memory still freaked her out quite a bit. To deflect the feeling his frown gave her, she instead focused on taking in his appearance to offset the worry over his feelings. Her eyes tried to start small, darting around to certain sections to ascertain exactly what she was looking at. Waves of word hit her conscious mind from horns to fur and hooves to scars. His eyes were green now and glowed with an intimidating light that she had seen before but not to this caliber...He had goat legs, something she had never actually seen on someone outside of a picture book. And his horns, they looked shorn and kept, while his hair was longer, an almost wild length. He had so many scars and bruises that were barely hidden by the minimal leather he wore that strained on his chest. It drew a palpable pain to her chest for him as her face fell in concern. Before she could look more or really think more, he lifted her shirt getting an eyeful of the healing bite on her side. Instantly she winced, not even having time to blush at the fact that he so suddenly exposed her skin. The lack of immediate response made her heart stop, her eyes on his face as she tried to gauge what his feelings were as he bent to look at it. He looked so much the same and so different at the same time. She could see clearly he was a faun, but his face was the face of the Oliver from her world, something that was messing with her mind. On one side she was confused and freaked out by the change in appearance. On the other she wanted to reach out to him and cared for him. She didn't understand the mix of feelings that showed on her face, enough that she had trouble processing what was going on when he was suddenly standing again and moving her back. When her back hit bark, she squeaked some in surprise as her eyes found his and saw the emotions there. They made her blood run cold and sent a shiver down her spine as she was forced to look at him. He demanded an answer, one she wasn't sure that she could give him. Her lip trembled some as she tried to make herself speak, but it felt like the words were caught in her throat and wouldn't leave. How could she tell him the horrifying details of it, how she had been so stupid and let something like that happen to her? He would no doubt think she was a fool, a coward, a liar maybe...She felt an ache settle in her chest as he continued to stare, driving a little whimper from her lips that finally broke the little barrier her mind had put up around the issue. "It's from a man from the rebel camp. Rowan's sister said that he used a spell to--he bit me and took some blood... but that was all. I'm fine." She said, though the last bit about being fine faltered, the words so soft they were almost non existent. She could feel anger radiating from him and had a feeling that it was directed at her, that he thought like she did that it was all her fault for not being careful. She felt ashamed that he saw her like this and wanted nothing more to go back and change things, so that she would have had a chance to make this moment a better talk and not waste his time on her. He must have had a reason for coming here right? "You're angry...I'm sorry." She said softly, her voice shaking some as she struggled not to start crying since she knew he didn't want to see that. She looked at him for a long moment, before her eyes drifted to the bruise on his shoulder, emotion welling in her eyes at seeing it. Her hands tried lift to it, but his grip on her arms only let her fingers on one hand brush a raised line from a cut on his abdomen that seemed to be healing. "I should ask you the same question...Bri what happened?" She asked as her hand fell away and she found the strength to press him for more information. She was trying to take the heat of his anger off of her for a moment and find out what the hell happened to him. He had been away for a year in this world and now he was covered in more scars and bruises. He even tried to attack them the last time she saw him.
