--- HEAR ME NOWWhere'd You go? Where's Your Home? How'd You End Up All Alone? --- “What!?” She exclaimed in disbelief as the contraption she was working refused to listen to her. “No…Nonono….No..NO!” She added, her tone one of annoyed panic. She was crashing, into earth, and her ship was not listening. Everything was shaking, and it was getting hot as she was hurtled into the atmosphere. Eyes a frustrated mossy green, her hair contrasted nicely as a darker red with pale ginger strands and tips, she couldn’t figure out why the damned contraption wasn’t working. A look of steady determination formed on her pale and fragile looking face. Bottom lip in between a set of pearly whites, the girl took a deep breath and pushed a button. The ship stopped suddenly, to her relief but then it began spinning. Around and around, the girl had to hold on to a railing to not get tossed around like a pair of beads on Mardi Gras.
Finally, she was able to pull another lever and a few more buttons, stabilizing the ship completely. With that, she took a few deep breaths, calming her quickly beating heats. A few calculations and steering ratios later, the now pale ginger was landed on the ground as inconspicuous as could be. Well…that is if you didn’t count the smoke billowing over out of the top of the big blue box she called home. Of course it didn’t originally belong to her, however she hasn’t ever spoken to anyone about THAT.
After going around and checking to make sure her blue baby was safe on the inside, she went and changed out of her now, soaked clothing. Dark colored jeans with a black and white long-sleeved shirt were her clothing of choice for the day. Green converse adorned her feet as she hopped out of the blue box to see what time she had landed in.
It seemed to be the twenty-first century, February by the scent in the air. There was a soft pallet of snow on the ground, the white mist falling from the sky in soft rivets. A smile graced her pretty face as she locked the door of her blue box. A lingering hand stayed on it before she turned around and faced the world. She was in New York of course, a Saturday it seemed as well. She did enjoy this time of year. The streets were crowded as always, people yelling and honking as she stepped out of the alleyways she had somehow managed to land in.
She wandered for a while, catching odd looks at her attire. It was much to cold to be wearing what she was, or so it would seem. So as to not cause much more of a scene, she found an ATM. Taking out a pen sized contraption she pointed it at the screen, a buzzing noise and blue light then appeared. A few hundred dollars popped out of the machine and she pocketed the device. While using it, her face was contorted in what one would consider pain and loss. That wasn’t hers either. She had taken it but used it none the less. It was to carry on his ways, continue what she was born to do.
A mental shake of her head brought her back to her cheery self. Walking past a booth with hats, she stopped, seeing one that caught her fancy. Picking it up, she smiled and handed the vendor the appropriate amount of money. He stopped her before she left and handed out a scarf to her. “For you, free. A pretty girl like you should have a matching set do you not think so too?” With a grateful smile, she thanked him many times over and took her leave. The hat was light grey with white and black stripes at the bottom, snowflake prints went all the way around the band. The scarf was in the same design, white on the inner side while black white and grey stripes adorned it until the bottom where white fuzz hung off. A snow flake was on either side of the scarf.
She looked like a normal young woman walking down the streets of New York, though her accent gave her away as being foreign, though most just thought she was from England. She spent an hour or two on the streets but then came across a cute little café. Entering it, she smiled at the aroma. Ordering a tea, she waited until it was done. Picking a seat in the furthest corner from the door, she sat there sipping and observing, her mood greatly increased from her earlier mishap.
--- There's No Light There's No Sound Hard To Breath When Your Underground --- ((So not my longest opening thread ever but anyways...so this is Sele. The gaps in her past will be revealed but what I am looking for is either a companion to show up (male) or maybe the Doctor to show up with a different face and maybe a touch of amnesia. =o. Really anything works thank you! If you have any questions just ask and her profile is up for you to see.))

(pic in bio lol) Today was just another one of those days. The kind where you wake up with a head ache, you don’t feel like getting out of bed, but you know you’ve got somewhere you had to be regardless of whether or not you wanted to go. But for Zachary those days came pretty often, sometimes even twice a week, if he was oh so lucky. The headaches were new though, brought on by his recent sleep deprivation due to his frightening nightmares, nightmares that his “fill in” mother Emily called normal for his condition. When Emily the psychologist said something was normal, Zach had a hard time believing her. After all wasn’t their profession based on making you feel better, come to terms with things in life, and all that bull. He knew none of this was normal. His life was one big mess of not normal, or at least the part that he could remember was. About 2 years ago to this day, he woke up stranded in the middle of a crowd in Grand Central Station with nothing but the clothes on his back. No ID, no phone, and no record. It puzzled the police for hours when they had him in custody, till one of the morons actually thought to take him to a hospital.
There the doctors poked and prodded him, hooked him up to machines and then drugged him to sleep when he tried to fight them off. All in all it was a wonderful way to kick off his first day of consciousness. Finally after a day of testing, they diagnosed him with amnesia, something they told him that meant he’d lost all memory of his life. Zachary couldn’t help but believe them, after all he hardly knew his own name.
The doctors decided to take over from there, set him up with a new life, with one of their specially trained psychologists that could watch over him till he regained his memory. They called this a case study, an experiment of sorts that would use him as a lab rat to figure out cures for the illness…That’s all Zach seemed to be now, the only part of his life he understood.
“Okay Zach, I guess that concludes this session for today.” Emily cooed to him in her soft voice, adjusting her glasses as she picked up her clip board. Her long blonde bangs that she didn’t hold back in that orderly bun covered her eyes for a moment as she looked down at the notes she had taken. Zach knew she was staring at them with certain dismay.
He couldn’t help the sting of the knowledge that he’d given her barely anything to write down, or at least that the bit he had given her was all lies. Things like a childhood memory of his first kite, or a stroll in the park with his mother, or the time he got lost in London, the place that they’d told him he was from because of some kind of accent he had, and he had waited hours for someone to find him. All of it was things he’d observed outside in the city, from other people around him. None of it was really his, since his memories still stayed locked up in that dark place in his mind he couldn’t seem to access.
But he decided to give Emily a break, not to let her be the blame of his own case of ill feelings. After all she was just trying to help. “So, what for dinner tonight?” he asked, painting that perfect smile on his lips. Emily sighed.
“Soup, I’m thinking chicken noodle to beat the cold.” She looked to him, seeming to suddenly find her gentle smile and that motherly look she always gave him to make him feel better. “How does that sound?”
“Lovely, just the right thing to beat the cold.” He said with a laugh before looking at his phone to hide the fact he wanted to get out of the hospital as quickly as possible.
“Uh, I’m going to be late for work!” He mentioned before getting to his feet and grabbing his worn dark leather coat. “See you later Em.” He said before hurrying out the door. The frigid air felt so much nicer to him than that of the sterile hospital air. He liked the snow after all and found himself smiling for real this time as he hurried to the small café he’d been lucky enough to get a job at. Emily had been the one to recommend it. She said the social environment would be good for him, to help awaken some of the memory he lost.
He’d worked there for moths though, and hadn’t gotten a thing, not even a sliver of a feeling. But she was right. The socialization gave him the perfect place to study how he should act around people, how they wanted him to be at least.
When he entered the café he was instantly bombarded with a loud “Where have you been?!” By none other than the boss, Katherine. She didn’t like it when her employees were late, but Zach had figured out she had a weak spot for him long ago.
“I’m sorry Kathy. My mom kept me late again helping her with work.” Katherine sighed at his smile and tried to hide the fact she was blushing as she tossed him his apron. Kathy had no idea about this amnesia, only Emily knew, but Zachary felt no guilt after all about not telling her about his therapy sessions, he wasn’t exactly lying to her.
“Fine then, get this tea to the paying customer. It a new girl, has a funny accent like you.” She clucked, handing him the tray with the tea when he was done trading his coat for the apron. He ignored the comment about the accent and walked over to the girl with a new found curiousity. Perhaps he could study her to, find out what this England place was really like.
“Cold outside, isn’t it?” He said, placing her tea infront of her. He yet again had that falsetto perfect smile, turning up the corners of his mouth, trying to follow the guidelines he had set when handling female customers. “I always found the tea here to be the best at curing the cold though. It was a good choice.”

Sele looked up at the sudden male voice. Her pale green eyes were bright as her pink lips formed into a smile. Though her hearts seemed to skip a beat when looking at the male. He was quite attractive in all honesty, but she pushed that thought out of her mind. She wouldn't feel that way about someone anymore. That wasn't something that she could handle apparently. She looked down at the tea, her smile flickering for a moment before she solidified it. "Yes, I suppose it is cold out." She said, her accent blatantly clear. She noticed that the man who had brought her the tea had the same accent. It was odd but not uncommon.
"I tend to just enjoy tea when it is snowing. I guess its just something I remember doing when I was young." She continued, but then chuckled softly, her eyes going back to the blonde males face. "But you probably have no interest in such things. Thank you for bringing my tea..." She trailed off, not knowing his name and therefore not being able to thank him that way. Though as she took a deep breath, something seemed off about the man in front of her. Something familiar?---No, that had to just be her imagination. There was something different about him though, maybe he was an alien in disguise, she wasn't sure and didn't care to figure it out. After all, he didn't seem to be doing anything wrong, however that could change. It didn't linger in her mind for too long though as Sele turned her attention to the window, a soft smile on her lips due to the falling flakes of snow.
It was something she had been unsure of upon first seeing it. Though she had come to love the beauty of it in a very short period of time. It was gorgeous with a soft brilliance that made it fascinating to play with and watch fall. There seemed to be no order to how it fell and when the light caught it just right....it was fantastic. She seemed to be in her own little zone, staring off in to space. She had many a thing on her mind, it was hard for her to not think about IT. What had happened, it was always in the back of her mind and although snowy days were some of her favorites, HE had loved them too. It always reminded her of HIM however it also made her happy and she had a choice to make on days such as these. Try to live with the pain and guilt or let it consume her. She had a job to do now that he was gone so she couldn't let it kill her slowly. How else was she supposed to still hold hope that HE might still be alive.

Her voice, it hit him with a sudden spark of something. A feeling of familiarity that made him pause for a moment and his smile falter. It was a warm feeling, a good feeling. But as quickly as it had come it had gone, leaving him stunned and silent. Sure it wasn't some big epiphany that he thought it might be, but still it was something. But was it really her voice? Or had it just been her accent? Maybe something she said? Even just a pause or word could have caused that kind of reaction. And he didn't understand this whole regaining memory business anyhow. So how could he really just decide it was her that caused it and not himself? 'Now your contradicting yourself? Lovely.' He thought as his grip tightened on the tray he held to calm himself before returning to his good humored self. "No, it's very interesting actually." He said giving it a sincere thought, "I never thought of having such a nice memory connected to something so simple..." "Zachary, order for table 6!" Kathy called and he got the sense she was staring him down from the counter. He huffed internally and gave the girl an apologetic look. "Work calls. Enjoy the tea and the snow. You chose the best place to get a good view of it." He said before turning on his heals and going back to work. He worked diligently, greeting the regulars like he always did. He was even able to remember their names and orders, even stories that they'd told him a while back. He had a knack for absorbing information, but apparently not recovering it.... This time however, he found himself a little preoccupied with the girl. The way her eyes had looked at him, the sound her voice made, and the odd feeling he sort of believe she gave him. He even found himself glancing at her when he had a moment to spare. He frowned at his odd behavior and tried to snap himself out of it, till of course he was handed her bill. He sucked in a breath to make himself focus before he headed over to her table. "Anything else I can get for you?" He asked, the customary thing he had to say before handing anyone their bill. As far as he guessed, people liked feeling welcomed rather than rushed.

Her eyes looked at the human, trying to figure him out. His response had shocked her some. Didn't humans thrive on simple memories? She had heard many a story, all revolving around something that most would find insignificant. Something was tugging at Sele, something telling her that this human was important. It might just be her loneliness pulling at her again but she wasn't quite sure. As he got called away to his job again she smiled at his words.
Sipping her tea and just letting her thoughts go where they wished, Sele watched the snow fall. Time went by rather quick, though it always seemed to for her. Eventually she finished her tea, all but a few drops of now cold brew in the bottom of her cup. She had caught the male from earlier glancing at her occasionally, something she found somewhat amusing. She was wondering about where she was to go after this pit stop. So far nothing had caught her attention. Maybe nothing was wrong now and her ship had just decided to let her have a rest after that marvelous almost-crash.
She didn't notice the presence of the man from earlier until he spoke. She had been so engrossed in her thoughts that she jerked a little and looked up at him confused for a moment. Then she cleared her mind and smirked, his question rebounding in her mind. "Yes, I would like to know your name." She stated simply, her eyes looking mischievous, though her face just looked happy. She was curious to know his name and hoped that he wouldn't think she was flirting with him. Of course, knowing humans, he probably would. "I am Sel." She told him, introducing herself first. She left of the e in Sele though because she only let females and HIM call her that. Else, it would remind her to much of him.

Zach noticed her look, but failed to understand the context it could have been taken in. Sure he had women act oddly around him every so often, most of them got all giggly or would really test his patience. But this Sel was different. He found her a breath of fresh air, not just because of their odd meeting. He just didn’t seem to have to fake his smile towards her. “It’s Zachary, or Zach as some around here call me.” He said, “Sel..hm, I like that name.” He had to admit thought, that it was an odd name he hadn’t heard before. It fit her in a way. But he noticed something else besides just the odd name. She had an odd air around her, like she just somehow didn’t fit with the people he saw around him. Was she maybe just visiting? It wasn’t any of his business and he knew he should point it out, but his curiosity got the better of him. “So Sel, what brings to New York?” He asked, placing her bill down on the table. “Not to pry, but you seem a bit different than the big city scene.”

"Well, it's nice to meet you Zach." She told him, hitting the 'ch' hard. A quirky smile graced her lips as he said her name. He liked it, he had told her. That made Sele like this human more. Maybe, she would invite him with her. Well, if he wanted to see the stars. It took a special someone to catch her attention. To be able to let them come with her. She was ever so lonely. It had been some time since she had last traveled with someone. It was sad though, how desperate she wanted someone with her, even though one had died on her and another hadn't been able to take it.
Her expression seemed to flicker for a moment but most would have just assumed it to be a twitch, instead of a sorrowful crinkle of the brow. Just the smallest things could remind her of painful moments but of course it was always good to smile. Why be upset when you could be happy right? She knew that wasn't always true. When she slept she dreamt of horrid things. Sometimes she would wake up and not be able to stop crying. However that wasn't a concern of hers right now.
Zach's question didn't surprise her, in fact she had been wondering when he was going to ask. Most didn't think she belonged in one place or another, though that must have been her alien personality. "Well, I would like to tell you that I am here to say but unfortunately I am just passing through. It is kind of a pit stop, if you will." She laughed lightly, the sound joyful, almost more than it should have been. "But you are right, I much prefer to travel than be stuck in a big city." She added, her eyes twinkling and holding a knowledge that seemed much to great for her age. However, if one knew her true age then they wouldn't be surprised by her eyes, more her figure. Picking up the bill gently in her fingers, Sele glanced at it, wanting to see what Zach's reaction was to be.

Zachary wasn't exactly surprised that she wouldn't be sticking around, just a bit disappointed. But it's just as she said about her preference to keep moving rather than stick around. Like those eyes of hers, that intimidating green that seemed to be so bright and clever, traveling just seemed to be a part of her. Just a part of what made her unique. Besides, a city, despite being "big", felt so much like a closed off world of its own. You had everything within your grasps it seemed and it brought hundreds of lives together on one district. Everyday people came and went, adding new color to this mess of a melting pot. Some others even chose to stay and call this strange place home. Zachary never knew which category he fit around here. Was he really the kind of person to be comfortable staying in a place like this? It wasn't that he had much of a choice in the matter. Waking up in a strange place not knowing where you are or where you're going takes that kind of choice more time to reason out. But he'd always had it in the back of his mind, the option to leave or stay. Staying seemed like the more practical option, but leaving always had that certain luster to it. He returned her smile, his a little more tired than hopeful. "I've thought about traveling before. It always sounded so liberating to just dropping everything and run to some place new." He said, folding his arms as he was practically thinking aloud. "But I began to realize once I started running, I don't think I'd ever stop." That was the truth of his thoughts, but he didn’t exactly mean to share them. He never really considered himself an open book to people around him, especially not to people he just met. So why now would he share something like that with a stranger? He cleared his throat, now feeling slightly awkward towards his own actions and words. “But that’s not really practical, right?” He said with a bit of a laugh in his voice. He was trying to back track, but nothing he could mention would change the fact he truly believed it. He got to thinking that maybe this was another one of his memories in disguise or a piece of his old self that he’d yet to understand. Whatever these kinds of thoughts were, they brought with them an odd mix of passion for a taste of something new and bitterness. Something that he didn’t feel like dealing with at the moment. "Sorry if I'm keeping you from wherever you have to be. It's just, it isn't everyday we get such interesting customers." He told her, trying to remain courteous as his thoughts tried to straighten out the mess going on in his head.

Sele's eyes seemed to brighten, her eyebrows raising some. Hook, line, and sinker, she thought to herself when Zach mentioned traveling. It really was as if she was hunting down someone to spend time with. Sure, part of her felt bad about how it happened but she was so very lonely at times. It had been years since she had been with someone on board her ship and it had been even longer since she had actually been completely comfortable with herself and her actions; about who and what she was.
It seemed however that this male wanted to travel, though in Sele's mind, he was just trying to talk himself out of it. She also had a vested curiosity in this guy, it seemed there was something about him. The way he talked or acted, she wasn't quite sure. It was almost as if there was something familiar about him but that was impossible, unless she had seen him some time ago but that was unlikely. There was just something different about him than other humans.
"Well that's what I do." She told him and leaned forward some, her newly bought scarf hanging loosely around her neck."And I must say, it is exhilarating." She breathed out the last part, excitement showing in her eyes. She smiled, almost looking as if she was asking him to come with her with her expression; daring him to leap when he didn't know how far down the bottom was. She laughed lightly, biting her bottom lip. Looking away as he spoke again, she watched the snow fall, its pace increasing.
"So I am interesting, am I." She turned towards him, tongue in between her teeth. "You aren't keeping me from anything. I come when I want and leave when I want. That is my nature." Shrugging her shoulders, Sele grinned. Now to see if this boy would be suitable to be her companion. "What time do you get off work, Zach?" She asked him, changing the topic. She wasn't flirting with him per say but if something was going to happen that had to do with aliens then it would be a bit later in the day.

Zach took in her actions and words, committing them some time for understanding and responding to. The one idea she mentioned, about her nature was the most eye opening for him. Coming and going as you please, didn’t that sound wonderful? He wanted to kick himself for the thought but couldn’t help the fact that it was true. He was a bit surprised by her question, by the way she bit her lip and her eyes drawing his attention. But what was more surprising was his willingness to answer. “Ah-around seven. That’s a couple hours from now.” He said with a laugh in his voice, though it wasn’t genuine. He was wondering just what she wanted with him, what she was still here for. ‘Hm, curious. She’s definitely not the norm...’ He thought, knowing his curiosity was beginning to get the better of him. He had to keep grounded though, and keep himself composed. After all he couldn’t let simple emotions win him over right? That was the sense he got from whoever his original self was. No matter how far away that person seemed, he still seemed to dictate a lot of Zach’s decisions. But this time, he was confused with how he was leaning towards Sel.

Well it was obvious to Seledine that Zach thought she was up to something. She smiled though when he answered, his laugh obviously fake. "Well, them why don't you bring me another tea and I will be right back. I have to get something from my...transportation. I feel like maybe talking to you after you get off. If that is alright." Her tone was chipper and yet it seemed as if she had struggled for a word before saying transportation. Almost as if she wasn't sure how to explain it, though really she just didn't want to say, oh hey, I am going to go grab something out of my time traveling space ship. Yea, no biggy right? Wrong...
Standing up she stretched some and put her black and white hat back on. With a wink she left him at the table, sneaking money for the first tea so that he wouldn't think she wasn't coming back and wouldn't pay for her drink. The door jingled as she opened it and stepped out into the winter wonderland, she didn't stay long enough for him to ask any questions. A few car honks and the sound of tires on snow echoed against the glass and metal buildings. Head held high, always looking and observing, she walked towards her precious blue box. She got there in no time, slipping into the alley way, Sele grinned with mixed emotions as she rubbed the box while unlocking it with the key.
Stepping in, her mood warmed up, the air considerably warmer as it should be. Walking into one of the many rooms, she found a chest and opened it. Pulling items out, she looked for a particular one. "No, no, no, ew no..." She continued on for a while, the items seeming to have no correlation other than being alien. Finally her eyes brightened, "Perfect!", she said a bit louder than was necessary. Pulling it out of the box, it was a silvery box in complexion but with a few lines crisscrossing it. Standing up, she brushed off her pants and closed the chest. Sticking the poptart sized box into her pocket, something that seemed impossible as it was the thickness of a good sized book, she headed out of her transportation. Locking it, she turned around and headed out of the alley. Now she just hoped that her tea wasn't too cold by the time she got back. ((So its up to you if you want him to follow her or we can fast forward till his shift is up. It can be funny either way.))

Zach watched Sel leave with an odd feeling. It felt like she had told him so much without really saying much at all. But he had liked her, genuinely found her interesting despite his passive behavior towards most people. The thing was, however, he didn’t know whether that should worry him or not. ‘You think too much.’ He frowned at the thought since it didn’t really seem to be his own. He turned for the table only to run into another one of his co-workers carrying a tray of coffee. He staggered a bit as the tray slipped from her hands and dumped a good bit of coffee on him and the floor. “Ah Zach! I’m so sorry, here let me-“ “No, it’s fine.” He interrupted her panic with a quick wave of his hand and an apologetic smile to show her that everything was okay. The girl gave a relieved breath, though was blushing as red as a tomato from all the customers staring. She grabbed a rag from her belt and went to whip off his shirt but he simply took it from her to do it himself. “Look,” He looked to her face, sifting through sparce recollection to find her name. Abby came to mind a short second later, “See, Abby, all better. But could you go get the mop?” Abby’s eyes widened and she nodded quickly with a quick “Oh-yeah-sure-of course.” Before scurrying off into the back. Zach waited till she was out of sight and ear shot before he began tugging at his white shirt with the now brown stain spattered on its front. He gave a huff and headed back to the counter with a bit of frown showing. It’s not that he honestly cared about the shirt, he was just frustrated that he’d let himself get so distracted. “I swear, Abby can hardly hold a tray let alone think that she shouldn’t try to carry that many drinks on one tray.” Katherine said but Zach simply shrugged in response. Her brow furrowed. “Alright Zach, what’s wrong with you today? You seem out of it…” He looked at Katherine’s worried look for a moment before giving her a small smile. “Out of what?” He asked, truly a bit confused by the expression, but she took it for sarcasm. “Alright. You’re done for the day. I don’t want you causing more messes here. Whatever is going on, fix it. I can’t have you working with your head in the clouds again tomorrow.” Zach was surprised by her suddenly sending him home, but didn’t want to argue. He did feel like he was out of something and too caught up in the old longing to remember himself that Sel had brought back. He grabbed his coat and tossed his apron over the counter into the box, Katherine kept the dirty ones in to be taken to be cleaned. The snow was beginning to slow down a bit, providing a little rest to the people walking along the street corners. Zach was a little sad to imagine it going but would be glad to be able to not slip every time his shoes found a patch of ice hidden under the snow. That seemed to be his life in a nut shell. A lot of cold and white space with surprises hidden underneath it all. He had just begun to think of what those surprises were when one of them happened to walk from a side street in front of him. It was Sel, not but a good yard away from him, leaving the street towards an alley way. He remembered her saying something about talking to him after work and felt a little guilty about just disappearing on her if she really did return to the café to find him gone. Then again, wouldn’t randomly walking over to someone you hardly knew, in an alley way spell something socially awkward and creepy? He thought about that for a moment before he realized something. He’d walked past that alley way hundreds of times when heading back to the loft he lived in next to Emily. It was a deep and dark space seeming to continue on forever, though it was a dead end with no doors or way to exit it since the buildings to either side of it were vacant offices. Why would Sel want to be in there? He shook his head, knowing it wasn’t his business. But as always, his curiosity was nagging his better sense. He gave a sigh, his breath comically visible as he finally made a decision. He had given in and followed the nagging interest towards the alley, hoping that he wouldn’t get himself stuck in something that he couldn’t solve through. No sooner had he got to the mouth of the alley, he ran into Sel, literally. He staggered back a step and reflexively took her arm to steady her. “Sorry, sorry I was-” He paused realizing it was Sel and gave an apologetic frown. “Ah, Sel-odd seeing you-uh-on the way back home-” He suddenly became very aware of himself, the stain on his shirt, the startled look he must have on his face, and the fact he still held her arm. He quickly withdrew his hold from her and shoved the hand in his pocket for lack of anywhere else to put it. He gave a quick calming breath before his lips pulled back into that practiced smile. “Sorry, I wasn’t paying attention to where I was going.” He said looking to the alley way as a way of appearing nonchalant. Instead he found his eyes drawn to a big, blue mass in the middle of the shadows of the dark alley. “What’s that?” He accidentally blurted, but was a bit too surprised to cover it up.

Of course, Seledine bumped into someone. Though she didn't fall as whomever it was, grabbed hold of her arm and helped to steady her. Looking up, through her ginger locks, she found it to be Zach. She began to smile but then her eyebrows creased together in a frown. Did he lie to her about the time he got off, she wondered though looking at his appearance more, his shirt was stained and he looked a bit frazzled. Maybe he took the day off early. Well, whatever the case, Sele decided that she wouldn't ask. He seemed to be flustered upon noticing that he still held her arm and she giggle some, the imprint of his hand leaving a warm spot through her stripped shirt.
"It's fine, just be careful. You don't want to bump into the wrong person." She teased and smiled bigger when he noticed the big blue box. She turned to face it and then looked back at Zach. "It would appear to be a 1960's London police box." She stated in a nonchalant tone and then grabbed Zach's hand, pulling him away from the box and down the street. "Well, since you are here." She began, loosening her tight grip on his hand. "Would you like to be my side kick for the day?" She seemed quite chipper and rather excited about whatever it was she was going to be doing.
Reaching down into her pocket, she pulled out the silver box from earlier. Letting go of Zach's hand, she stopped and began twisting various parts around until it resembled something similar to an M. She pressed the sides together and a screen popped up out of the middle, something so compact that it was way more advanced than any technology that Earth had so far. A red blip was on the screen, along with a green one. There were numbers and odd characters that seemed to be stating how far apart the blips were from each other. "Oh, he's not that far away..." She muttered and then turned to Zach, excitment on her face. "Well whadaya say?" She gave him a sweet smile, her pale green eyes sparkling in the snowy light.
It wasn't going to be particularly dangerous...well as long as the one she was hunting had actually ran out of ammunition. Somehow, they had gotten to this planet before her and since she was here, Seledine might as well ask them to leave nicely. As nicely as she could that was. Seledine also hoped that Zach wouldn't ask much more about the blue box yet. She didn't want to show it too him until she had determined if he had what it took to be her companion. Of course it seemed he had the want to travel but of course, you had to have a good heart as well. It seemed he did so far, but just from a quick meeting she was having trouble deciphering him. HE had been much better at it, Seledine was much younger and less experienced so it still took her a bit really. ((Hope this works, if not he can always just drag her back to the box =p))[/color]

Zach was confused by mostly everything about Sel. Not just at the fact that she had just popped out of an alley with a strange blue “police box” from that London place, but also because she was now dragging him into something that he had no idea what it would get him into.
Side kick? Interesting name for the person in his postion. The one who must decide whether to stay or go…It was a position he’d never really been in, or at least remembered being in.
‘Emily will worry if you’re gone long.’ He thought but a louder thought echoed in the back of his mind.
‘Oh where is your sense of fun? Take the chance and see how far it will take you!’ Zach’s brow furrowed slightly at the thought but he barely had time to really give a negative answer.
Sel had suddenly whipped out some contraption from her pocket, an odd one with blinking dots on a metal plated machine. He’d never seen anything like it before, but somehow he got a sense of what it meant. They were a dot and what she wanted to find was a dot, and those numbers and strange symbols meant it was nearby. She asked for his answer. He looked to her, ready to give her a quick apology and start on his way back home, but her face stopped him.
That excited look, the smile was on her lips - the one that made him pause to re think his answer - along with those alluring green eyes. He could shake the feeling that maybe this girl was really worth taking that leap for despite his usual hesitance towards anyone. The feeling was so reassuring he actually felt a real smile forming.
“Sure, I guess I could give being your ‘side kick’ a try.” He said and moved to look at the screen of the device then looked up at the road ahead of them.
“I’m no expert but..that seems to be in the same direction as the subways near Central Park..” He said, double checking the screen and the map he’d memorized of the city that he kept locked like picture in his mind. It was just a hunch but for a moment there he could have sworn those odd symbols had made sense to him.

If it was possible for Seledine's eyes to light up more, they did at Zach's answer. "Perfect!" She stated in a rather boisterous and excited tone. This was to be fun, she would just feel it in her bones, both her hearts pumping quicker at the thoughts of action and adventure. She sure did get a kick out of things that most people would find absurd or really not all that funny. She was about to start walking again when Zach mentioned the subways near central park. Giving him a wink, she grabbed his hand and headed in that direction. "I do believe you are right, Zach. Oh, this is going to be so much fun!"
Her tone was happy and her walking quick but sure as her head was held high, even when looking down at her little contraption. The numbers on the screen slowly began going down and the symbols changed on occasion. She tried turning one way but the machine didn't seem to like that, letting out odd whirring and chirping noises that drew odd looks from some of the civilians on the street. "So, Zach-" Seledine began, hitting the end of his name hard. She liked it, it was fun with names such as his. "How long have you lived in this marvelous city of steel and stone?" It was a bit odd how she spoke but it made it sound more poetic and less, modern-y.
They were getting closer, the green dot constantly moving closer to the red one. Seledine wasn't quite sure what to expect but it could be that this enemy of hers was still armed. She doubted it but, just in case she had to be in peak mental cleverness. For she was quite clever, not so much as HIM but still quite bright and witty. There was a bit of a bounce in her step, her pale ginger bangs hiding part of her green eyes, taking in everything she saw without being obvious. She was truly interested in the world and also in her temporary companion who may or may not become semi-permanant. That all depended on how he did.
